...Sigh. REally, Cerith shouldn't be surprised by now - but she had committed to her cause, and it was too late to turn back now! Trying to pay attention, though she was simply too tuckered out to give it the same amount of energy she normally did new things, Cerith leaned over, leaning on the javelin for support, peeking at the tracks. They looked... well. Like little clawmarks - but being rocky-sand, she wasn't too sure how he knew they were fresh.
Scanning the surrounding area, Cerith carefully stepped around whatever depressions in the ground may be tracks, eyes settled on the ground - and not on her surroundings. When she realized her error, she gave a hasty glance around, then let out a breath and smiled, nervously. "I see... well, Shaka! Lets hope it's a lost little one, then, and not leading us straight home to mommy's nest."

Scarlett Arbuckle He's a gonna wrestle it 8D He waved a hand; "Ehh... probably not! Iffn we do run into a mother we'll just run." If there was a mother he may try to get that one! Though that'd be a lot more dangerous... "But Ah dinna think we will run into a mother... prints too big to be a baby. Come on, no wimping out now!" He laughed and trotted off after the tracks, going through the brush, headless of the small scratches or plants he plowed through. He did do his best to not make a noise, but was less than successful; he wasn't meant for sneaking after all! After a few minutes they came to one of the many streams that wandered through the brush and gnarly trees that grew in this area. He stopped and eyed the snaptrotter lazying on a rock half in the water half out. It hadn't heard them coming which was nice.... He looked at the javelins; they were sharp and meant for hunting. How am I supposed to capture it? he thought, now that he was here he needed to try and figure it out and fast! He didn't want to make it angry or hurt it... which meant that the javelins were rather useless. He grinned as a thought occurred to him; I'll just subdue it! He dropped the javelin and, much more quietly and slowly this time, crawled through the brush towards the creature...

Well! At least in that way, her new acquaintance was logical. If it WAS a baby, it would be easier to catch ... though that did carry the risk of the mother being around, unless they were extremely lucky. A young, but still big one though? She shuddered at the thought, then tossed an affronted glower at him, lips drawn into a determined frown, jaw set. Wimp! How rude to suggest such a thing - though honestly the familiarity of his tone was ... comfortable.
Shaking her head, Cerith followed him at a distance, awkwardly holding the weapon she'd been given, her eyes wary. While Mynshaka ambled along, focused on the ground, she kept her eyes lifted, looking for any creature that may creep up on him when he wasn't expecting it. At the river... Cerith paused, abandoning her vigil to instead look around the little brook, her lips quirked into a smile. Matori was... lovely, really. A back water country, devoid of amenities and comforts, but... she had to admit it was beautiful, in its small ways.
In looking around, however, Cerith finally noticed the snaptrotter - freezing, she hunkered down and felt her gut tug in fear, watching it wide eyed. And Shaka just-- just threw down his weapon! Crawling towards it, Cerith wanted to call after him, to tell him he was an idiot, but that would alert the creature. Instead, she hunkered down, holding her javelin and glaring after him. The fool, he was going to get himself eaten!
