“It sure is.” Ouen nodded, remembering how he’d felt on the back of that rider’s radaku. “On a fast one, bet you could run through the whole jungle in… well, jeez, I don’t even know. Faster than you’d think, I mean.”
To be honest, he wasn’t entirely sure how large Jauhar was. It seemed large, but his path through it had always been meandering, hardly an accurate representation of how most people travelled through it. And how far were all these other lands he had heard about, like the hot place the Obans came from, and the cold place all those blue-skinned folk called their home? That, he hadn’t a clue. He’d seen the borders of Tale once, but he’d had other things on his mind.
He let the boy drop some of the sweetener in his tea, then tried it again. The taste was different now, sweeter and a little more familiar for the addition of the local syrup. Ouen knew the tree it came from, and liked it quite well.
“I like this better.” He nodded. “Could get used to it, sure. ‘specially if we get more winters like that one.”
The tension seemed to have melted around them -- Keelthy had laughed, and so had Ouen. Shenandoah, who hadn’t been particularly tense to begin with, rolled onto his back and let out a happy whirr.
“What’s your name, anyhow? I’m Ouen. This is Shen. Shenandoah.”

"Oh I am remiss, my name is Keelthy, my pleasure to meet you and your Shen. This big lump over here is Xarthin. He can have a ...quirky sense of humor." Keelthy let the aroma's of his tea swirl through his senses relaxing him more then many things could. "You know its kind of nice having some company thats not my brother, I bet you have many good stories. The only good one I have so far is about our journey here and finding Xarthin..or rather he found us, to hear Reillan (thats my brother), tell it, Xarthin almost ate him." "Then he followed us here and hasn't left yet, I think he's switched alliegences though, since he follows me now and not Reil. I wonder why. Maybe Reillan is just too dense."

“Y’talk kinda funny, Keelthy.” Ouen said, ever-blunt and honest, as the boy told him the story about Xarthin and his brother, Reillan. “Not bad, I mean. Just… real pretty.”
Ouen had never met another prentice who seemed so collected in his speech -- using words like ‘remiss’ and ‘pleasure to meet you’ and even ‘allegiances’. Sure, once in a while there’d be some high-and-mighty adult with their nose up in the air and their pocket heavier than it had any right to be, and that sort of thing… but for the most part. the local Shifter kids he met were fairly rough around the edges, at their best only a little more well-mannered than Ouen himself.
“I guess you’re kinda pretty altogether, though.” He grinned slyly, taking another sip of his tea and watching the fire boy over the edge of his cup. He wished he had some bold and exciting story to tell the other, to you know… impress him, or something like that -- but his usual go-to tale (the one about the dead Oban warrior) seemed kind of… inappropriate, given the circumstances. And even the one about how he saved Shen had to do with Oban enemies… huh. Maybe Keelthy wouldn’t mind so much (he was kinda different, for an Oban), but there were others around.
“I’ve done some stuff, I guess.” He decided to keep things vague. “But I’m kinda thinkin’ I should go a little farther, you know, check out different places. Tale maybe, or… Oba, even. Or that place where all the fishy-folk come from, you been over that way?”

Keelthy gazed at the young shifter, you know he had a point. "I expect that comes with growing up in a family with such close contact with the upperclass, you know those people who don't have to deal with the more gritty stuff like we do. But out lives are infinitely more interesting believe you me." He smiled. It could also be a reaction to the lad's initial hostility, when in doubt use big words. They had however settled into quite the companionable rythym so Keel didn't think that was it. Maybe he did talk fancy. He blushed a bit at the compliment and without skipping a beat he wiggled his eyebrows at the lad, he thought they might be able to the same age and Ouen was rather handsome himself in a clean cut shifter way. He still had a crush on Var, but would get his flirt in where he could. "Why thank you Ouen, your not so shabby yourself." This was punctuated with a wink. "As a dancer I must look good and to look good is to feel good, something my older brother has of yet not figured out. More tea?" he offered, adding an extra dollup of grace into every movement. "Would you like to learn to dance?"

Duke Edward Drake we're pretty much almost at 20 posts for this one, so if you need it for growth or something you can totes wrap it up. Ouen's already grown, so I don't really mind keeping on a bit, or finishing, whatever you like. “Upper class?” Ouen quirked an eyebrow, not entirely familiar with the word. Keelthy must have sensed it already, because he went ahead and explained it as having to do with folks who didn’t have to deal with ‘gritty’ stuff. What exactly was gritty stuff? He wasn’t sure about that either, but apparently Keelthy seemed to think that they were in the process of doing it right now (like we do, he had said). Drinking sweet tea around a fire hardly seemed gritty, so he had to wonder what exactly the ‘upper class’ did if it didn’t involve things like that.
But oh, forget about them -- his attention was quickly on Keelthy again, because the other prentice had apparently decided to reply to his flirtatious comments with a couple of his own. “Well, I guess I can deal with ‘not so shabby’, ‘f it’s comin’ from you.”
He dragged a hand through his silvery hair, and leaned back a bit in an attempt to show off whatever juvenile muscles had started developing.
“Hey now, I can dance!” He laughed in protest. “I mean, prolly not as pretty as you, or the same way as you, or anythin’. I dunno how you folks dance. But I ain’t shy about it, that’s what I’m sayin’. At festivals an’ the like. Just need a bit a’good music, y’know? And somethin’ stronger to drink.”
He winked, then tilted his head curiously. “But hey, if you’re itchin’ to teach me your way of doin’ it, I’ll take ya up on the offer. If only to see the demonstration.”

Stereochrome Keelthy is already put in for growth so maybe another post or two? This has been a really good rp thank you so much. Keelthy's grin lit up his face. "You know already?! Thats wonderful, I'm sorry I just assumed since well, since you look so manly." A treat for the eyes in fact but he was getting away from the point. "I, well here," Keelthy got up and started to sway by the side of the fire, his body falling into the old rythyms even in the absense of sound, he did the dance he used to do with his brother, a celebration of strength, dexterity and agility that was supposed to be mirrored by the partner but for the sake of demonstration one was enough. He fair glowed at the thought that Ouen's eyes were on him. He didn't often know the people who watched him dance and it was a most heady feeling indeed. At the end, gasping for air he flounced back down on the ground. "That was so much fun. Is that how your people dance?"

Duke Edward Drake ok, sounds good! i think this is a pretty good point to end anyhow... 'cause Ouen is a tease. but they should totally rp when Keelthy's grown! 8D feel free to post again if you wanna wrap up, or not. 83 Manly? Ouen liked the sound of that, although he wasn’t sure why that would mean that he could not dance. Many of the dancers he had seen in Jauhar were quite athletic… even the girls weren’t anything to scoff at. They were slender maybe, but then again, so was he -- slender and strong and lean, perfectly-built for climbing trees and leaping from branch to branch.
Before he could clarify this point, though, Keelthy was up on his feet; hips swaying, dark hair swinging back and forth as he moved. There was no music, nothing but the regular howl and chirp of the surrounding jungle (and some of the hum of camp life), but as Ouen watched he could… almost hear music anyway, as if Keelthy was playing some invisible instrument with his body. He didn’t know what oban music sounded like, to be fair, but he got to feeling like maybe he could take a good guess.
“Naw.” He shrugged when the boy was done, trying not to look too impressed. “We don’t dance like that.”
He stood, as if he might give the boy a demonstration -- but turned to walk away instead, winking slyly.
“I won’t show you now, but only ‘cause I wanna see you again. We’ll meet some other time, I’m sure, an’ I’ll take you to a real Jauhar party. Then you’ll see how we dance.”
He liked Keelthy -- but it was getting late, and he had no wish to spend the night in an Oban camp (friendly or not). He needed to find himself a proper bed, up in the trees where he belonged, and he wanted to do it before the warmth of the tea in his belly made him sleepy.
“Thanks for the tea, an’ the dancin’. It’s real pretty, y’know. Kinda like you are.”
And with that teasing flirt he was gone, coal-black shoulders blending into the darkness of the jungle.

Stereochrome Keelthy passed! where is Ouen? Keelthy watched the shifter go, he couldn't stop smiling either. He was cute that boy, real cute. What had been shaping up to a real contest of wills had melted down into something much nicer, perhaps friendship? Definitely companionship, and it felt good to flirt again, oh yes, it did at that. Keelthy drank more tea and fell asleep as rain started to patter on the leaves of his little camp. Also Xarthin snored...loudly.
