"I was fortunate enough to slip into one of the rooms on the upper floor, yes," said Chance with a laugh. "You're not the first person to say that to me, though; is the basement some sort of giant death trap or something? Do the floors leak and the ceilings cave in? From the way people talk about it, I'd think it was going to explode at any minute..."
A short bark of laughter escaped him because the prince that had awoken Chance had been a tall, dark green haired, surly, dismissive Lifer with a chip on his shoulder the size of Montana and a penchant for reading morbid history books while simultaneously being strangely appealing and interesting. Prince was not exactly a word Chance would have used to describe him, unless it was followed by something like of the night or something equally as cliche and ridiculous.
He was almost lost in thought enough not to see Ace's next swing; the scythe smashed into him with a force he hadn't been prepared for, and Chance staggered, nearly falling over. The tail end of his bow was slammed into the ground to keep himself vertical, and he dragged himself up, breathing heavily.
"I worked as a server at a local diner," said Chance with a smile as he pulled the bow free and notched another arrow. "I lived in a home for boys before I got my own place, and after that I worked as a bookstore clerk. Not totally exciting, sadly, but I like to think I'm making up for that by being here."
He pulled the wire back with a snap.

"I heard that it was originally a medieval dungeon. yup all sorts of things: floods, poor lighting and some weird spooky rooms. It's inconvenient more than scary." The frequent flexing neck and limbs all those petty actions pointed to what he was most unhappy for. "For me, the biggest problem is the small bed compared to my height. I am actively seeking an chance I can move up, if you know any vacancy or someone won't mind a roommate, do tell me okay?" Ace was frankly lucky for the 'prince' that woke him up, despite of the coolness, she was more normal. It wasn't a rare phenomenon that the newbie would have some imprinted affinity to whoever woke them up, there was a general liking and trust in general. That was why he was willing to wait at the training fields just to see if he could meet her and talk more. The tall man did pause when Chance slightly reeled and made a tepid smile. "They do give you experiences and widen your horizons, the cliche saying applied. Who cares if it's exciting, as long as we can earn a living. For orphans like us, not much choices are given. People judge you by your appearance, I'm glad that this job didn't." He knocked down the arrow, "Some people say you'll be affected by your job, you like reading? One of mine was being a clown, maybe my height is what attracted them, but as long as I can get some money, I took the offer." He shrugged. "That's how I discovered my liking in make-up." He gave Ace a look.
"A medieval dungeon? That is some scary s**t right there, jeez." A pause, and then. "But I have to say, my curiosity is really getting me worked up now, historical oddities and bizarre things that occur, s**t like medieval dungeons being turned into monster hunting facilities really makes me interested in how all of that came about.
"Sure thing," said Chance easily. He thought briefly about offering Ace the opportunity to stay in his room; but then he'd have to cut back on bringing people back to his place, which would have been a complication, and so he kept his mouth shut, Chance just smiled benignly at Ace.
"Appearances are what they are," he said as he tugged another arrow into existence. "I personally could give two shits about appearance, people like what they like. Makeup isn't something I wear all that often, but if you like it, then I don't see why it should be anybody else's business."

Without knowing what another Sun's thinking, he smirked naturally. "Thanks sunshine. I hope my suffering would end soon, maybe I should consider making a note on the cork board...." He mused, turned his body to the side, like the silhouette of a death reaper with the addition of the scythe. heart > "Yup, I know, I'd shown you the cat I drew another day." The Sun Trainee answered his weapon, recalling the day-off they spent playing the draw-to-guess game. "It's not quite fair actually." he complained. That was what Chance'd heard, two lines without clear connections.
Strangely, Ace could go back to whatever they were saying about the dungeon in a natural way. "I just heard cafeteria gossip of it, what it is like did point to that way. Oh curious boy, how many cats have you killed so far? I'd invite you for a mini adverture pastime if you give me a chance." he punned with a tease.
To interrupt the time for deep contemplation, he lunged forward, deliberately making Asher and Catherine collided. "Two would be better than one." He followed what he last said.
A chortle was the reply from what Chance said. "I don't care what they think, there's no way I have the obligation to consider their comments." Ace laughed sarcastically. "See, they refused to hire me but I'm still living, safe and sound. It proves that it doesn't matter." The tall guy said with child-like ego.
"You still haven't tell me if you like reading. Never mind, just tell me more about your life, I'm interested in you."

Sunshine. A cute nickname that made him smile, Chance readjusting his hold on the bow as he twisted around. He was relatively certain that Ace was conversing with the weapon inside of his head, and he had no inclination of interrupting, instead listening with a certain amount of amusement.
A laugh escaped him. "Maybe one or two cats," Chance said, and winked. "But I've still got plenty left."
He fired off another shot, wincing at the cut to his side. "A good mindset. And I do like reading, though I usually stick to historical books. I used to work in a bookstore, after all, and before that I lived in a boy's home. I moved out of my house when I was thirteen, and that was that."

"Awww let's me punish this horrible murderer on behalf of the adorable kittens. I will rescue the kittens from you-" His scythe dug in, but the arrow brushed across his chin. "Maybe not." The man stayed in the same position where Chance hopped off, eyes rolled sideway to peek at where burned, he noticed there was a cut formed. He'd thanked the Sun for the compliment, "Which part from the History is your favourite? The Cradle of civilization, the World Wars, or the development of astrology and space? You say you like space and stars, when did it started?" Ace didn't bother to know where he lived, or what family members he'd had, it wasn't a speed dating, what he was interested was the person standing in front of him, drawing the bow back.
