"Okay, well, we can do this the easy way," said Chance, as he strolled casually along the beach, his shoes - which he'd taken off approximately five minutes prior - dangling from one hand. He flashed a smile in Claude's direction, looking every picture of innocence.

"You can always just ask me questions about what I find pleasing or don't, you know, kinda like a game."

Claude's shoes ended up in her small bag, because her hands were occupied fiddling with her new ******** amazing hat. She was tilting it this way and that as they walked along the beach, and at one point pushed the lid up so that she could look at Chance as he spoke about something being easy. The picture of pure innocence her a**. If one looked at Chance from the right angle, those curls formed devil's horns.

"What's fun with the easy way?" Claude mused teasingly, and then added. "Or I could find out." Actions. "Both are games." She tilted the brim of her hat down, and then tilted the entire hat back for now so that she could actually see him.

"Alright. I'll play. One thing you don't find pleasing." Was it cheating if she asked outright? Was she supposed to be making guesses? Like Charades? She'd wait and see.

Claude gave a snort nod, but she looked up to stare at him after he said something. "Your taste in clothes and accessories is pretty...far spaced." She repeated, emphasizing the last part, keeping her poker face. Terrible pun was terrible, and she even lightly elbowed him to further emphasize it. She went back to looking at the piece of jewelry, which happened to have an elegant moon charm attached to a sturdy blue leather brace.

She had Dawson in mind as she looked at it. He made her that little deer figurine, and it'd come as such a surprise. She hadn't gotten him anything in return yet.

Her head tilted a bit towards her companion as he mused, her lidded gaze still on the bracelet thoughtfully. "...Is that a mantra?"

Claude also had made the comment that he should have brought his sketch book. That was a thing artists did, right? Sketch on sight, because the sights were fabulous. She also felt incredibly pleased that Chance was pointing out things to her, that he liked being out here, and that she could have a hand in making it happen.

The trainee glanced over the top of her menu to see Chance's foot on her knee, and peered at his toenails for a moment. "You should paint those too." She commented, and then used his foot as a prop for her menu, smirking lightly. Classy circus bears. She ended up ordering a cocktail, which of course, had rum in it. Once the waiter left to get there drinks, she returned to the menu.

"Good thing this isn't the States." She mused. "Or we'd get I.D." Chance might have been legal to drink in the States, but she sure wasn't.

He wagged a finger at her. "You're right, I should have brought it," Chance said agreeably. "Maybe I can pick one up here or something, I'm running out of pages in the old one anyway..."

It was very comfortable sitting here at a place like this. Chance dragged his menu towards him and propped it up to look at it before he glanced above it to raise an eyebrow at Claude.

"Those are more effort," he said, and then grinned. "That's right, I forgot you were jail-bait still. Don't worry, here we are just having a good time and stuff like IDs are overrated anyway in a place like this."

The waiter flitted back and slipped their drinks in front of them, giving a little flush as Chance smiled benignly at him.

"To good times and good people," said Chance grandly once he had scurried away, lifting his beer towards Claude.

He paused in his roaming, turning slowly to look at Claude because he saw what you did there, Claude, he totally saw.

"So is my head, for that matter," he answered her in a deadpan voice before setting the bracelet back down. If they hadn't been in a public place, he probably would have made some sort of sassy remark; but as it was, he just elbowed her in the side back, smiling.

Her question made him arch a brow.

"Is what a mantra?" asked Chance mildly.

The hat was pretty amazing.

"Either way is fine," he replied with an amused look in his eyes. "So the basic premise of the game is that you're gonna try and figure out what it is that I don't like and what it is that I don't find pleasing. Any method of figuring it out is welcome, so feel free to do what you can."

Chance's eyes were glinting with mischief. He twisted around so that he was walking backwards facing her, one hand in his pocket. "If you can figure something out, then I'll owe you a favor. If you can't figure something out, then...well, then you'll owe me two favors."

"I'm sure there's one around somewhere." A small art store, even. Artists were everywhere after all, right? Some places more than others.

She clucked her tongue, feigning disapproval he wouldn't put in the extra effort for his toes, and then snorted softly. "Excuse me." She said flatly. "I'm above eighteen." So not jail bait. She glanced at their drinks once they were set down, smirking lightly at the interaction before she leaned forward to pick up her glass and clink it against his beer.

"Here, here." She murmured, and took a sip of her drink. "Know what you're getting?" She glanced at the menu again before setting it down.

Claude didn't look at him, but she could feel his eyes on her, and lightly smirked. "That I knew, too." She replied, still smirking even as she got elbowed back. After a moment, she decided she was going to get the bracelet, and waved over one of the store clerks.

She glanced at Chance, to indicate she heard the question, before talking softly to the clerk about the bracelet she wanted to purchase. As the clerk went about taking out the bracelet and readying it, Claude looked back at Chance.

"I like what I like." She said, tilting her head a bit as she moved down the aisle to ring up her purchase. "You've said it a handful of times now. I was curious." The trainee fished her wallet out of her small bag and handed over her debit card to pay.

This was how gambling addictions started, she imagined. The alluring promise of getting something if one just tried, and kept on trying, and there was something very alluring to her about the...chance....for a favor of her own. There was also something to be said about wanting to risk the danger of possibly falling into debt for another.

Claude felt confident though. She felt like she had something of an ace up her sleeve if her hand wouldn't play well. She felt like she already had a vague idea of something he didn't find pleasing. For now though, she'd play the game like she didn't have any idea. Her expression gave nothing away of this potential trump card.

Her thumbs hooked onto one of her belts as she eyed Chance. "It's not a good game if there aren't some...rules." She started. "A time limit, and a number of tries, hm?"

"Oh," said Chance. "that. Well, I guess it's kind of like a mantra."

He let out a little hum again, idly tapping one finger against his leg as he trailed off after Claude toward the cashier. "I suppose it's because I never really liked labels," Chance said thoughtfully. "And after a while, I got tired of trying to explain myself to other people - not that I ever thought that it was worthwhile to even try," he added, with a slight smile. "But when you're on the thirty-second question of 'why do you wear dresses sometimes,' or 'why do you paint your nails,' or 'why do you kiss both boys and girls'..."

Chance shrugged, picking up a teeshirt to look at it, though he set it down after a minute. "It just becomes tedious after a while."

Chance may or may not have had a secret thing for gambling; or maybe it just wasn't so much about the gambling part as it was the playing the game part. He liked things that were interesting and kept him going, and games like this were exactly the kind of thing he found to keep him occupied.

He tilted his head and considered it.

"Time limit is by the end of today," he said, after a moment. "Limitless number of tries, but you can't do the same thing twice."

He pointed a finger dramatically at her. "Okay, captain, you're in charge of finding me a good place to find a sketchbook. I'm not too picky about the kind of sketchbook, anything I can draw on is good."

A laugh escaped him, and Chance's expression was amused as he said, "I know you're over eighteen, otherwise I wouldn't have even have made the offer I did."

It was the first mention of their night together (or rather, evening) since it had happened, and he leaned back as casually as he could be, eying the menu again. "I'm thinking the 'Red snapper fillet with black olives, cherry tomatoes, and red onion, with mashed potatoes,'" Chance read grandly, before setting the menu on the table and folding his hands over his stomach. "What about you?"

Her debit card returned she tucked it into her wallet and back into her bag, along with the smaller bag she was handed with the bracelet in it. She listened as he spoke, turning to face him and glancing briefly at the shirt he fiddled with before focusing back on his face. She nodded a bit, and then reached out to briefly wrap her fingers around the back of his neck.

"You don't need to explain those things to me." Her hand fell away and she moved passed him, heading out the door because she was done here. Once back outside, she kept an eye out for anymore potential shops.

End of the day. Hm. Good time limit. "Can't do or ask the same thing twice." Claude added on, and then gave a firm nod of her head. "Deal." She strayed from following Chance to curve her path to the water. The warm water rolling over her feet felt good.

She then kicked some of that salty water at the other, smirking a bit.

It was game on, so she took a moment to think of her first question.

"Are people a major factor in something you find unpleasant?"
