"You wouldn't be." She said with a small smirk, managing to escape his next swing with only a small swipe. She kept moving, deciding she wasn't going to stop during this match. Claude twisted her torso and fired another shot at him, aiming for his chest. "Since the hour I last saw you? Or the time before that?" She asked, to be a smart a**. "Hmm." He feigned pausing in thought—or maybe just to recover from the blast at his chest—before springing forward again. "Either or," Jack continued pleasantly. Coffee and sparring honestly did do wonders to his personality. "Though I imagine an hour is nothing compared to several weeks." hp: 38 damage: 7 charge: 3/3

Jack had closed the distance between them again for another hard hit that had her skipping a few steps before she caught herself again. Claude shot at him, and watched her bullet miss him by a hair. "Mn." She uttered in a sound of agreement. "Nothing of interest." She replied, honestly. "You?" Figured it wouldn't hurt to ask...after all, Jack wouldn't waste her time with meaningless chatter, which made her more open to conversing with him. "Also, while you're at it, answer me this: what are you passionate about?" HP: 22 / 40 DMG: 0 Charge: 2 / 3 ; 0 / 2 spent

Jack pressed his advantage through a quick series of slices, his demeanor casual but his attacks as focused and deliberate as if he honestly meant to cut her down. "Me? Oh, the usual. Research, sex, coffee, sleep. Leaving an impression on others," he added with a strange smile. "Nothing terribly exciting so far." Claude's question was met with a quirked brow. "Why?" hp: 38 damage: 8 charge: 3/3

Jack was nothing short (funny because he's tall) of mowing her down. Efficiently, she'd definitely add. Granted she knew she wouldn't last long because of the rank difference, but this was on a whole other level. She couldn't help but quirk a brow at that odd smile he sported, but did not question it. "Sex." She repeated with a drawl. "My day can go on now, knowing that's what you've been up to among other things" She shot at him, barely clipping him. "Curiosity." She answered. Jack shrugged. She asked.
"Well." A crooked grin appeared as the bullet grazed him. "I do enjoy a spar from time to time. Nothing gets blood pumping better," he told her as a matter of factly, laying a second hand to the hilt of his weapon and adjusting his grip.
The weapon was large, yes, but it was meant to be wielded with two hands; he didn't enjoy having both occupied in actual battle and had learned to compensate for its weight, though Owain's had kindly lessened the burden since his beginning days. The one handed thrusts and swipes from before were almost warm ups just to test Claude, but now he felt it was about time to finish things up.
The wide swing came not only with more force but surprisingly faster than previously.

That strike pushed her a good distance across the field. Claude skidded along the ground before she rolled herself into a kneel, and she felt her shield teetering to give way. Damn. He made quick work of her, and she found herself wondering why he wasn't in Sun. That battle prowess was being wasted in Life. She wasn't about to go out without something of a bang though... The trainee pushed herself back to her feet and aimed for the other, bracing her pistol with both hands. "Was that also your answer to my question about what you're passionate about?" She asked, and then pulled the trigger. She unleashed her charge, showing Jack in a volley of bullets. HP: 4 / 40 DMG: T2 Swift Strikes - 13 Charge: 0 / 3 ; 1 / 2 spent

The sprawl of field between them, an opponent teetering on the edge of falling over, and his own continual self-confidence? This was a perfect set up.
He started at a brisk walk as Claude pulled herself together, eyes narrowing the moment he saw her brace both hands against the gun. Pulling off a final attack made the moment even better as far as he was concerned, and he met the volley with a steely grin and the ricochet of what projectiles he managed to fend off with his blade. Jack liked to imagine there was smoke coming off behind him as he cut through the rest, synced perfectly to the rising chorus of epic rock music, maybe with some Latin lyrics to add to the badassery. He already struck a good figure, why not accentuate it? Damn shame there wasn't any wind to set his coat flapping about, though.
"I'm passionate about much more than just a good fight, of course," Jack replied. "Though this was a warm up compared to the s**t I normally get into. Makes for a nice change of pace." He still wasn't a fan of bullets, though; he could still remember how the ones Lex had shot had sent him reeling. "Either way," he added with one last thrust of the sword, "I won't write you off as terrible. At least your charge was successful which is a surprisingly difficult feat for most trainees starting out."

She knew she was done...and it wasn't from the confident way Jack had strode towards her and finished her off. It had been a given. She did have to note though, that despite how hard he'd been hitting her earlier, his last attack was something of a courteous hit. Enough to finish her off without over-killing it. He was pretty full of himself though, she also noted. Claude's pistol was de-summoned and she hooked her thumbs into the pockets of her pants. "I suppose that's a compliment." She drawled and then quirked a brow. "So? Other passions?"

He kept his sword out and pointed at Claude, inches away. "If I told you, I'd have to kill you," Jack quipped with a little smile, because he wanted to squeeze in one more second of being a dramatic b*****d.
After an unnecessary brandish, he desummoned the weapon and rolled his head around to pop his neck. "But I'm in a good mood, lucky you. Research, but I said that already. The occasional song if Barbara's up for it. Post it art. Oh, eating human flesh," he added with a snap of his fingers, like he'd almost forgotten. "Tastes great after sex actually, with the musk and sweat."

"Mn." Claude did not even bat an eyelash as he pointed his weapon at her again. He wasn't going to do anything, she knew. Her brow quirked as she listened, but she could already tell he wasn't taking her question seriously. Maybe bits of it were true, but for the most part, Jack was just being a giant green goof ball. She let out a soft amused snort, and started to move towards him to make her way back to the dorms. "If you're not going to answer me seriously, then it's a waste of time." A thumb unhooked from her pocket so that she could slap the back of her hand on his chest in passing. "Later, Romeo." medigel WRAP FRO MEEE THANK YOU! <3
