Why was her dad so shocked? Even if she thought healing was boring, she wanted to know just how much he had to do, just so she knew he was busy. Yeah, that was it. She wasn't interested in healing at all. Not one bit. She wiggled herself upwards so she could lean her head closer to his heart and sighed.
"Just because she's my sister doesn't mean she likes me, daddy." She said, rolling her eyes. "But of course I'll write you back, that's the point of letters! ... I just need'ta learn how'ta write them..."
She blushed, furrowed her brows, and looked up to Uquin.
"Can you teach me how to start a letter?"

As Ujana wiggled around, Uquin lifted his knee so she could scoot up as she wished, pursing his lips in playful distrust of her words. "Hmm, if you say so." He said, finally. As for Padma not liking her... Uquin knew they didn't get along, but having grown up with a sister who rarely showed her affection, Uquin knew how to see the feelings behind the bluster.
"You're mother will help with your first letters-but starting a letter..." He tilted his head towards her, thinking. "You'll want a feather, from a bird. There are all kinds of things you can use in Jauhar - grasses, berries, certain types of wood - your mother can get them, and you grind them up with water to make your ink. It'll be messy at first, but you'll get used to it, Ujana- you're a quick learner. "

Ujana looked up to her father curiously. A bird's feather, berries, wood... You really needed all of that just to write a letter? Was it worth the effort? She paused, mulling it over, and nodded. Yeah, it was, she needed to keep in touch. So what if she needed to gather a ton of stuff just to make ink? She'd get to hear all about what was happening in Yera while she was away, it would be well worth the work.
"... You think so?" She asked, tilting her head. "... Uhm... Hey... Daddy?"
She twiddled her thumbs and looked away, almost too embarrassed just thinking about what she was going to say.
"I... I kinda... I kinda don't... Uh." She muttered, pursing her lips. "I kinda don't think healing is so dumb, okay? I just think being tough is better, but healers aren't really dumb and stuff so... Sorry, okay?"

Well, she didn't need them all at once, just depending on what colors she wanted ! But, unaware of Ujana misunderstanding, Uquin simply smiled and nodded at her simple question.
Then, he looked down, raising his eyebrows expectantly. When she finally spoke, though - Uquin blinked, then couldn't help the bubble of a laugh that broke from him. She always went on about it... and sometimes it got to him, it did. So hearing it from her, he felt his shoulders relax, and responded to her admission by giving her a tight hug and squeeze, chuckling. "Thank you, Ujana. I'm glad. ...There, was that so hard to say?" He couldn't help but tease her! She acted as if admitting it was like pulling teeth!

Ujana puffed her cheeks out. She spilled her heart out and he makes fun of her! That was so, so... RUDE! She pulled her arms into a tight fold across her chest and huffed. That would be the last time she ever admitted she was sorry to anyone, ever. Not if they couldn't take it without making her feel bad.
"WELL, good." She said, sighing. "But don't expect me to say stuff like that if you're gonna be all mean about it! You're so... Silly, daddy!"

"Ahh, Ujana, I didn't mean it like that. I'm sorry!" Uquin responded quickly, feeling instantly guilty. He must have taken it too far - he didn't think she would be upset by his response. "It really does mean a lot to me. Forgive me? ...Please?" Good god, was he actually pouting at her? But he didn't want to send her away with a bad taste in her mouth, when what she said really did mean the world to him!

Ujana paused and couldn't help but shake her head. Her daddy was silly, very very silly. She leaned upwards and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
"I forgive you!" She said, quickly snuggling back into his chest. "Just... Stop being so silly, okay?"
