Hard to say, but I think for the Japanese male designer, it may be that they want women to have "less cover" in order to be sexy than being "fully clothed" from protection. Japanese, why should we based on hentai rule? >.>;

Wow, it's definitely been awhile since I've been around Gaia.
But anyways, I understand where Rath is coming from. Personally, I feel like Camilla's character design was made specifically to give attention for the male gaze. I have nothing wrong with giving a female character sex appeal at all as long as the character is interesting and if it's done well.
I'm a guy sure, but this really bothers me quite a bit because she's the only inconsistent one out of the bunch of characters I've seen. And supposively she's a wyvern rider from what I do know. Shouldn't she have like... more armor for protection on the battlefield? I mean it's a freaking war after all. Why have yourself exposed like that? It's not very practical if you ask me. The other designs however, I do like for the most part,
And the thing is... There was usually a charm with the Fire Emblem designs before. Okay, there are some in the past that are pretty questionable(.Let's not talk about what Shirow Masamune did with Shadow Dragon's Art) Still, Fire Emblem ladie's clothing wasn't all that revealing to this extent.
I probably shouldn't judge because we haven't exactly seen what her character is like yet. I haven't really kept on tabs with the new Fire Emblem all too much either. Heck, the new Fire Emblem won't be out for a long time. Also, yeah... I'm still pretty iffy with the two paths schtick I've been hearing about.

Jisen Meizuki Um... Just wanted to point out that the woman you showed us is your Avatar's "older sister." sweatdrop EDIT: Is it me or do her boobs jiggle when she slightly moves (aka: anti-gravity/physical boobs)? sweatdrop Incest, schmincest, it's not like she's my sister. Boobies so big, they bend space-time and operate on their own gravitational terms. Nomad Rath While I'm totally down for sexy fire emblem ladies, part of me is really irking about her armor and how it just stops at her chest, becomes cloth to cover the tits, and just totally leaves her whole chest unprotected. Like.. why even bother. Why even complain? stare

If it's going to be out nationwide, I'm pretty sure we won't get it until maybe springtime next year. As for the two factions, I think it's pretty interesting. Sure, it may be similar to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire based by which team you're going against. However, I also see it as more plot similar to Dawn of Radiant than Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Dawn of Radiant has let us see two or three different perspective of what's happening in the nation. So yeah... it kinda have similar plot mechanism to the Dawn of Raidant. I just hope the plot isn't terrible. >.>;

Although she is covered in the front of course (Camilla might be covered better from behind?). Still, I see where you are coming from. I personally don't mind the fact that she is totally vulnerable in the chest area, as it's just a fantasy game and this is solely done for appeal. It seems the 3DS games have taken a whole different art style (a much more revealing art style). In the future it might be nice to see some of the GBA/Console art styles return though. I really did love the look of Sigrun, for example. And she wore her full suit of armor. Maybe even have casual clothes for when they're in the base. (This way we can still have plenty o' tits)

Boobies so big, they bend space-time and operate on their own gravitational terms. This is Fire Emblem bro. Not Dead or Alive. Also, Izzy isn't the only one that notices the jiggling animation. I know it's a fictional character and all.. but still. Are boobs the only thing you want to remember about that character? Fire Emblem was never this. It was all about the diverse and interesting characters with interesting backgrounds. Are boobs the only thing that will be memorable about that particular character? Still, even so I won't let one character design ruin the game for me anyways. Nomad Rath While I'm totally down for sexy fire emblem ladies, part of me is really irking about her armor and how it just stops at her chest, becomes cloth to cover the tits, and just totally leaves her whole chest unprotected. I'm not one of those people that loves or hates Radiant Dawn. In the past I absolutely hated Radiant Dawn. But now, I find myself more in the neutral side of it. There are parts of Radiant Dawn that I really like, but then there's parts of it that are plain disappointing to me. Like holy crap, the designers notes of RD are some really interesting stuff. Had they actually used some of that... I wonder what they could've done with it...? Though I do really like the idea of different character perspectives. The way Radiant Dawn did it was really clunky. Like, I enjoyed the first two parts of the game then when Part III happens things kind of go downhill from there. Part IV is when it where it really goes BS insane, at least in my case anyways.

Wow, I haven't been here in a while. Anyway, just wanted to chip in my two cents on Camilla's outfit. I'm not thrilled with the design since it doesn't seem very practical, but, surprisingly, I don't really mind. I mean, the avatar goes around barefoot; pretty sure that shoes would be useful in a battle.

Not really. sweatdrop I would say that like Panne or perhaps the laguz, the Avatar has the ability to transform into a dragon. Hence why the Avatar is barefeet instead of wearing shoes.

Good point, although I don't remember many laguz who went completely barefoot. Most had sandals at least. I was mainly trying to point out that many characters in FE wear armor that is at least somewhat impractical. (Insert "No capes!" Joke here.) But maybe I'm just biased since I'd probably feel so awesomely confident if I could pull off a Camilla cosplay. And there are so very few scantily-clad characters I'd actually want to cosplay as. (That opinion is subject to change as we learn more about the characters.)

(That opinion is subject to change as we learn more about the characters.) Say what you want about armor in Fire Emblem being impractical, but for the most part they're at least great designs. Honestly, I generally see past the impractically if the armor seems believable enough to work. It's a SRPG fantasy game, so it doesn't have to make sense and I get that. I'm not bashing Yusuke Kozaki at all for this, since he's the same artist that did the art for Awakening. And heck, I liked the majority of his art in that game. It just really feels kinda off and different here. It's like ever since the dark mages in FE13, they feel like they need to have less clothes just because they're evil. I guess being in the desert, they'd need to have lighter clothes to become useful to the army. But I dunno, it just looks like a new stereotypical trend happening. And I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it... With Aversa, I can sorta understand. She's suppose to be the evil seductress that's also sympathetic I guess... Remember that time when so many people reacted and made a big deal about Tharja's butt getting censored in the beach summertime DLC of Awakening? Edits no matter are inevitable and changes have to be made. And probably people will whine about it.. Heck, I personally didn't mind the censoring as it wasn't a big deal to me really. Also, on the topic of the main character having bare feet, I think it would make sense because he's a laguz type of character. So in that regard, it could definitely work since he's half human. I'm actually hoping we'll see different kinds of diverse laguz classes. EDIT: But I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm actually generally concerned about the localization in the west at this point rather than the design of one character. And maybe if the character is okay, I'll let it slide but we'll definitely need to see more info first like Isa said.

Just next year since it will take time to translate the script (and probably tries to censor some parts like the Awakening DLC contents.) After all, why show us the trailers of Fire Emblem: If if it's not going to be localized? The only thing I'm not sure about are the other two versions of the Fire Emblem: If. I'm aware that they will bring both the Hoshido and Nohr games to the west. I'm just not sure if they will bring the other versions (one where the Avatar joins neither of the factions and the other one I can't remember) to the West.

I'd actually like to see the laguz (or something similar like the taguel) make a comeback in a greater capacity than just one or two playable characters, but unless they reveal a non-human, non-manakete character for FE: If, then I'm not holding my breath.
I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't localize the third path. If it's a path equivalent to the Hoshido and Nohr paths, then it seems like it would be a good move to release it as DLC.

Just to note, referencing other female character designs from the same artist doesn't serve your point.
Fire Emblem has proven time and time again how it can make female character designs sexy and practical in some sense.
