Solo: The Adventure Begins!
Words: 1,010
She had decided to leave in the dead of night after everyone had finished their celebration. Her father had drank quite a bit at this last little gathering, so it was the perfect time for her to go. He would be too drunk to catch her, and by the time he did wake up she would already be too far gone. He had denied her access to any of the weapons and supplies once he had found out her plan, but that wasn't going to stop her. She was determined to start her adventure even without that man's approval. Her mother had been more supportive of her in secret, but even now she still warned her against her going. It saddened her a bit knowing that she had really no solid support from her family. She expected it from her father, vile man he was, but she had hoped her mother would've grown a little backbone and encouraged her on her adventure. She loved her mother dearly and really took after her, but with her father around they had grown apart in the last few years. Her father was poison to them both, and if she could get away with it she would drag her mother along with her.
Though her taking off by herself was dangerous enough. Unfortunately for the time being she would just have to leave her mother alone and hope for the best for her. There really was nothing else she could do for her. Shaking her head, the young shifter hoisted up her pack onto her shoulder and glanced back at her village one last time. She thought she would miss the place she grew up in, but really the only found memories she would miss were with her mother. The village itself held no love for her. Erilin had seen to that. She had felt like it wasn't home for a while because of him and now it was solidified with her leaving. Her home was herself now, and she would adventure and learn and make new friends wherever she ended up. She had no map and no idea where she was going, but she was ready to start her life and see what the land had to offer her. Eziya smiled, taking her first step out of the village and into her new life. She was ready for a change and this was it. The adventure of a lifetime she had been dreaming of since she was a child. Toying with the tip of her braid, Eziya steeled her nerves and took the first step onward. A few more steps and she would be out of Jauhaur, hopefully for a very long time. Her goals were big, but she was determined to reach them. She would work her hardest to become a much better person than her father could ever think her to be. He would regret the day he disowned her and treated her mother badly. Her story was just beginning and he would not be the villain holding her back from success. She was done with that chapter of her life and now she had so many opportunities before her. She could be anything she wanted, do whatever she liked - within the law of course.
“This is it. This is everything I've wanted for years. I just have to take the first step,” she chuckled, chewing on her bottom lip – a nervous habit of hers – as she tried to muster up the courage to just get on with it. “Oh wow this is a lot harder than I thought it would be.” She was finally able to escape and she was stuck. It was what she wanted of course, but she did worry about leaving her mother with that man. He was vile, cruel, and her mother deserved better than him. She couldn't even bring herself to call him father anymore, not after all he had done to the two of them. He had already disowned her for leaving, but she hoped her mother wouldn't get into trouble since she had sided with him. She was a quiet woman around her father, but she knew differently. Her mother wanted to escape just as much as she did, and one day she would come back for her. She just hoped it wouldn't be too late by then.
She wasn't quite sure just what she wanted to do, but whatever it was had to be better than the stagnant life she was leading. Maybe she could even help people in some way. She didn't have many skills, but if she found a teacher then maybe she could learn from them. She could help people in bad situations, maybe heal or protect? She wasn't really one for fighting people, but she could help in whatever way she could if she learned. Eziya had heard of nomadic groups of travelers that went around helping and living together. That seemed interesting enough. She could even find a teacher there! There wasn't really anything like that in Jauhaur, so maybe Tale would be the first place to look. The Leaf people there were surely more welcoming than her village. At least she hoped so anyway. They could be just as bad as her father, though she doubted that. He was such a hardcore traditionalist that she wasn't sure what he was going to do now that other races were traveling and moving into Nueud. It must have him panicking just at the thought.
“You just need to stop over thinking it, Eziya. Nothing is going to get done if you just stand here!” she exclaimed, pacing on the borderline of the two regions. “Okay I'm going to do it. No more thinking, just do it. I'm not letting my thoughts get the best of me this time,” she continued, finally stepping over the borderline. With her adventure ahead of her and her home and past behind her, she was ready to get out and see what the world had to offer her.

Solo: Practice Makes Perfect
Words: 1,006
"You aren't focusing, young one," Nayvin spoke, looking pointedly at Eziya. The young Shifter sighed, stopping herself from continuing to toy with the small feather settled in her hair. She had been practicing the same routines and spells for hours on end! All she wanted was for something interesting to happen; maybe a fancy new spell to learn or even a new adventure. Anything but the same boring process over and over again.
"Of course I'm not focusing. I've been doing the same thing over and over for several hours," she grumbled, resting her hands in her lap instead of in her hair. Nayvin rolled his eyes, grabbing her hands into his much larger ones as he looked at her.
"You want to be a good healer and scholar one day, yes?" The Leaf man questioned, receiving a furious nod in response. Did she want to be a good healer and scholar? What kind of question was that? Of course she did! She wouldn't be traveling with them and training if she didn't. Just because she was a bit....distracted at the moment didn't mean she didn't want to continue her training. She huffed indignantly at the Scholar, glaring at him slightly.
"Of course I want to be a great healer and eventually a scholar! I've been working really hard to do this, I promise!" Eziya exclaimed, growing upset at the prospect of not being able to become a great healer. She had been helping people and learning a lot from it, but somehow it wasn't enough?
"Relax, young one. I didn't say you weren't doing anything. You just need to focus more is all. You simply have to practice to get better, even if it means repeating the boring stuff over and over. Do you understand? All the people great at their craft didn't become a master over a single night. They had to learn the boring things first and work through the simple tasks to eventually excel at them before they could move onto bigger things. You are good, that is obvious, but you lack the patience to do the little tasks that are just as important as the bigger ones. They are the ground work for the bigger spells and methods you must learn to really help others."
Eziya nodded, fingers idly brushing against the flowers and feather in her hair. Nayvin was right of course. He was wise and had years of practice and experience with all things healer and scholar related. He was the unofficial leader of their traveling company and had taught her quite a bit on how to use everything from natural remedies to small spells to fix wounds and injuries. She was nowhere near his level of expertise yet, but she had grown to respect him and all he had taught her. It would be foolish of her to not listen to what the man was saying to her. She just hated having to repeat the same routine. It was just so boring!
"I understand what you're saying," she replied, looking at her notes she had been studying for the spells she had been told to practice. "I'm just so tired of doing this same thing. Isn't there anything to make this more interesting?" Nayvin smiled, shaking his head at her.
"Not everything in the world is meant to be exciting for your enjoyment, young one. Some things are just simply boring, but they are also necessary to succeed. Not everything in life will be fun, and it's really not meant to be. There will be things that are hard for you and things you find incredibly easy while learning. You simply have to grin and bear it and do both to further your abilities."
"So as long as I keep practicing these boring things, eventually I'll get to the hard stuff? Because I've been at this for hours."
"And yet I see no progress from when you started," the man grinned as Eziya frowned. She had definitely made progress! At least she had thought so. Come to think of it, maybe she hadn't. Nothing had really been going on since right after she had first started. It had just been stale, but she figured it was because she had already gotten it. There wasn't really anything else to do other than what she had been. No super special way of doing it had come to her. She had just been mixing the same remedies and doing the same little spells. She had nearly depleted all of her ingredients and the spells weren't getting any better any time soon. Her books hadn't said anything about if she was doing it right or not, just the basic way to do it.
"So since I am obviously not doing it right, why not show me?" she said shortly, getting a bit more frustrated than she should have. Nayvin simply smiled wider and pulled the ingredients to him while beginning to explain how to do it all once more.
***
After what seemed like several more hours of Nayvin going over the same things as before, Eziya finally noticed some progress in her work. The subtle shifting of the spell and how it flowed through her was definitely different than the clunky way it had been working through before, and the color and slight smell of the remedy was far different than what she had been creating. It was such a small difference in what her teacher had been doing, and yet the minor details made all the difference.
"Now do you understand what I have been telling you?" he asked, much less harshly than he had been before.
"I suppose you do have a point," she dreaded admitting, looking at her progress.
"Good! Then I want you to keep working for a few more hours until dinner is ready."
"Bu-"
"Practice makes perfect, young one. One day you'll be a great healer and an even better scholar, but for now you're my apprentice and you'll practice if you want to get anywhere."

After the frigid chill of the harsh winter had left Tendaji, it seemed that most were happy to just return to their normal routines, though the normal routine didn’t seem to be what the weather had in mind. It wasn’t long before almost everywhere noticed the way that the winter air had seemed to push precipitation onto the land in its place. Rain flowed seemingly non-stop, reaching all the areas of Tendaji, even frozen Zena saw its share of rain, though the temperatures were still much too cold to support such a thing and rain turned to hail, which froze over the ground.
The critters of Tendaji only wanted to seek shelter from their flooded homes and the wet downpour that surrounded them. They found their way into homes, huts, sheds, anywhere that could stay dry - and preferrably warm.

Quote: Virma (pl. Virma) - These tan-colored, grub-type bugs burrow themselves into the trees of Tale and live there for most of their lives. They come out for a month towards the end of summer to lay their eggs on the large leaves of the trees they spend their lives in. Their mouths work as a drill and harden at a very early age in order to gain the protection of the trees they inhabit. Seriffs and kinfa use these insects as a primary food source as they can reach nearly a foot in length and remain very plump soon after birth. Solo: Spring Showers Words: 842 They were everywhere! On the ground, in the trees; the little buggers would not stop swarming her! The grubs were crawling out of the trees for who knew what reason and landing on her. She just had to go out on her own away from the other healers again and set up her own camp. They had even warned her not to go, but had she listened? Of course not. She was ready for going on adventures and camping out on her own for once, and just look where it had gotten her. Wet and covered in grubs. It had been raining for a good while, but she had hoped her small tent had been placed up high enough to get out of the brunt of it. The little Virma had just found their way into her tent and now they were trying to peck at her like she was some fancy tree. "You can't hide in me I'm not a tree!" she shouted at them, shaking one off that had gotten dangerously close in its attempt to burrow into her side. There wasn't even just a few of them either. She was sure she could handle five or ten, maybe even fifteen. But of course just her luck she had to deal with at least thirty of the little buggers flailing around and trying to burrow into anything and everything they could to hide from the now hard downfall of rain. This was literally the worst thing ever. Sloshing in the rain with no shoes on, her tent completely ruined, and no help in sight - she was doomed to be surrounded by these terrible little creatures. Even Gift stood there tilting her head at the bugs. She could have at least attempted to try and eat one or peck at one to rescue her from being burrowed to death by them. Knowing her she probably felt some strange joy in watching her struggle. Evil little Xaraan she was. Yet another one careened at her from a nearby tree and she nearly dodged what would have been a blow to her head. She had to get out of there and fast if she didn't want to be completely and totally destroyed by tiny grubs of doom. The thirty of them were just too much for her to handle on her own. She could just run away from them, but there was still so much in her tent she needed to get. Her entire pack was in there, luckily still protected from the rain and the virma, but now there were a ton of the creatures in the way of her getting to her tent. If she could just somehow get by them and into her tent to grab her things really fast. Maybe a distraction of some sort? Or a certain Xaraan could actually help her for once! She really needed to have a stern talking to with that reptile bird thing. Whatever it decided it wanted to be for the day. Sighing, Eziya knew there was only one thing she could do. She stretched, preparing to book it as soon as there was an opening. Just a little more....and now!The Shifter ran as fast as she could, which wasn't saying much all things considered. She really should take up running lessons from someone. It didn't help that she still had no shoes and it was still raining...and muddy. Bad plan was definitely bad. She was almost there though. If she could just reach a few more feet. Unfortunately something was not in her favor that day it seemed. Making it to the tent had been great and all. She had even managed to get all of her stuff picked up and protected minus a bandage or two. Now she needed to get out of the tent though, and apparently now the grubs had noticed her stumbling movements and come to check it out. Wonderful. "Great, just great. This is how I die. Death by little grubs," she sighed, praying to any god that would listen for her to get out of this alive. The virma slammed into her tent then, knocking the tent off balance in a quick rush. Gift squawked at them as they hit the tent continuously, and then Eziya felt something she had dreaded. Good thing about hill, great high place away from flooding. Bad thing about said hill - when tent is rocked it goes off side of hill. So there the small Shifter went tumbling down in the mud, grubs flying, Xaraan squawking behind her, she even thought a book might have hit her in the head. It was a bit hard to tell with all the intense movements going on at that particular moment. All she knew is at some point she was knocked out, and the next point of course Nayvin was grinning at her like he tended to do. "Have a nice trip, young one?" "Let's just not talk about this," she groaned, hoping to never see a virma ever again.

Quote: Did You Hear? Prompt 1
Solo or RP Format Can be used toward Solo or RP req
Word spread fast in a place like Tendaji. Surprising when the people were so spread out, but now that there was more traveling it was a growing rumor mill spreading word as fast as earthlings could move. It was little secret that a group of Alkidike were starting to cause problems in Tendaji. The extremist Alkidike felt that it was high time that Jauhar was taken back from the shifters and the alarming growth of others that were settling into their land.
There were growing accounts of ambushing in the jungles of Jauhar, where shifters and other earthlings were being beaten and sacked for their things before being threatened to leave Jauhar… and there was only so much these poor people could take before they fled the scene and packed their bags. What would happen if the Alkidike decided to spread out further than Jauhar and became a threat to all earthlings?
They were still rumors, and nothing could be proved, but many were beginning to cast a disapproving gaze toward the Alkidike and a weary eye to Jauhar’s borders...
Words: 758
Eziya had started to hear the rumors early on. While she wasn't in Jauhar anymore, the rumors had stretched throughout Tendaji even into Oban territory. It was hard not to hear about it when every person she encountered decided to ask her if she knew anything. Being a Shifter one would assume she would be, but no, she didn't. She hadn't been to Jauhar in a long while so she had no idea if the rumors were true or not. Yes the Alkidike were a group of warriors, but she found it hard to believe they would resort to attacking other races like that. They had been living peacefully near them forever, so why had they suddenly flipped and started to attack them? Sure there had been more and more earthlings moving into Jauhar, but that was not a reason to mug the poor people moving in. As much as Eziya didn't want to believe it, in some small way she knew it was totally possible of the warrior women. Some were very territorial and didn't even like the Shifters being there, let alone any other race. All of the talk made Eziya worry about her mother. Her mother was a strong woman, but against several Alkidike she would have no chance against them. The mere thought of someone attacking her mother made her furious. Oh the rumors may not be true, but if they were she would not be pleased in the slightest.
Sighing to herself, Eziya toyed with the feather at the back of her hair. If she was a strong fighter she could go and defend and help the people being attacked by the Alkidike, but she was just a healer. All she could do was fix what was injured - something she didn't want to have to do. If she could defend there would be no need to heal. Her people as well as the other earthlings would be safe from the assaults. She could even protect the other healers traveling around. Unfortunately there was no way for her to do any of that. She was a healer through and through and had really no talent other than that. She would only get in the way if she tried to do anything.
"I don't even know why I'm thinking about this. I'm in Oba - not Jauhar. There's nothing I can do from way over here," Eziya grumbled, fingers continuing to play with the feathers in her hair the more she thought it over. If she was like Araie or Serr she'd be able to defend others. Araie was strong in offensive magic and though she may get lost quite a bit she did know her magic. And Serr...well he was strong all around. She wasn't exactly sure what his plans were other than traveling, but he had been a very muscular guy. She was sure he could defend others if he needed to. She was useless unless someone got hurt. Seeming to sense her frustration, Gift nuzzled her beak against Eziya's side, causing the Shifter to look down and smile at the large reptilian bird. Ignoring her ramblings she gently pet the Xaraan, relaxing as she did so. Though the bird could be a ton of trouble sometimes, she always knew when to be sweet and help her calm down.
"Were you worried about me, girl? I promise things are okay," Eziya cooed softly to the Xaraan, glad to have her there to help ease her worries. If she needed to defend herself from elitist Alkidike she was sure Gift would be right by her side helping to protect her. She hadn't expected to get so flustered about hearing about the Alkidike rumors, especially since she wasn't even sure they were true, but they had really shaken her up. Perhaps it was because they all knew how likely something like that was. Even with being from Jauhar, Eziya had never encountered an Alkidike for herself so she didn't exactly know if all the Alkidike were out to get them or if it was just a select few. Either way she needed to stay on her guard even in Oban territory. There was no telling where one of them could be hiding and waiting to attack.
Whether it was a rumor or not there was definitely something coming between the Alkidike and the rest of the races. There was a storm brewing and if things didn't get calmed down soon more terrible things were bound to happen. She just hoped the rumors were fake.

Solo: What The Future Holds Words: 1,1012 The trek back from Matori was a long one to say the least, and it gave Eziya a lot of time to think. She had been through a lot, especially over the past couple years. She'd seen almost all of Tendaji except for the newly located Yaeli, and yet she still had no clue where that left her. She was a healer. Not a fighter or any other sort of crafty type. She could help people and that was all. She had been wandering around trying to find others to help after the war, and for a time it had been a successful venture, but now much later it was not the same. Most didn't need the help of a traveling healer. They wanted simple remedies, things that a local healer or herb specialist could help them with. She didn't have the supplies for small things like that. She was an emergency healer more than anything at the moment. She had long left her group of healers in exchange for traveling with Serr. Not that she was complaining, it was just, well it wasn't the same. When she was with the other healers they were constantly sought after. There was always someone who wanted their help, even when she was still younger and merely helping to bandage the patients. Out here on her own with no one but Serr and Gift accompanying her, no one thought twice to ask her for help. They looked rough at best, and even then it wasn't like she looked very much like a healer. She had a book as her tool. Most would probably think she was just some random adventurer and not a practicer of the healing arts. It was all very frustrating, but she wasn't too sure what she could do about it. At a time like this what she wanted to do was ask her mother for some advice. She'd wanted to ask her mother about a lot of things lately. How to handle men, what to do when you are lost in life, general adult things. She was sure the older woman would be able to help in some way or another, but she hadn't seen her since she left Jauhar. Eziya wondered what she would think of her now and what she was doing with her life. She felt like she had done a lot. She'd helped stop the Alkidike extremist among other things, been traveling around with a man she would like to potentially be with more permanently, she'd seen and done so many things and now she wondered if it was time to stop and let the next generation do things. She wasn't very old of course, but her adventuring days were coming to a close. She wanted nothing more than to help heal and teach others now. She was doing many different things she never expected to be doing at this age, and her younger self might not have been as pleased about it, but she felt accomplished. She just....needed to know where she was going from this point on. She'd had a thought a while ago. Making her own little healing shop, having classes on it as well. It had been a distant thought that she didn't think would ever be within her grasp. She and Serr had been traveling so long that just asking him to stop their plans and settle down seemed a bit, well extreme if she was being honest. She thought she had said something in passing to him a while back, but that was one thing. Actually being serious about her plan, well that would take time and money. Something they didn't really have too much of. She couldn't rightly ask for any sort of loan either. The only one who would maybe have enough to do that would be Aunt Fiia, but she would hate to bother her with that. No, if she were going to do this she would need to do it on her own. She couldn't inconvenience anyone else with her problems. As it was she would already be messing with whatever plans Serr wanted. He hated sitting still, she could only imagine what he would think of permanently being somewhere. He wouldn't too much like it. This was something she wanted more than anything else though. Maybe, just maybe he would be okay with it. Having a stable home and place to work would not only be good for her healing, but would eventually be good for when she decided to start a family. She wasn't opposed to having children travel with her, but she was smart enough to know that a stable environment was much safer and preferable when raising children. There were a lot of plans she had in the making that involved this little shop she had her heart set on. Surely it was something she could do. She could start tending tables at the tavern, or maybe cleaning beast stalls. Anything to raise a little money every now and then in order to save up for it. It would not be an easy task by any means. It was something sure to tire her out and make her ache all over. This was something she was determined to do though. She knew this is where she wanted her future to head towards. A cute little shop with small younglings running around it. If she just talked to Serr about it maybe he would want it to. It was something she could at least hope for. Without him there her dream picture wouldn't be complete. She might not know a lot of things, and she would even go as far as to say that she wasn't prepared to take on all of these responsibilities, but she was willing to work hard to get what she wanted and try her best at everything she did involving it. If she did that then there was no way she could fail. This was her new dream and it was something she was going to fight to have. Quote: Eziya has been trying her best to travel around and heal others after all the events that have happened, but has come to realize that she isn't needed as much any more. With this realization comes the thought that she doesn't have too many plans and needs to start thinking of what she wants to do in the near future. She decides she wants to settle down and set up a healing shop where she can more directly help local people in need, as well as trying to start a family with a certain leaf boy she's very fond of.
