Byakko's constant defiant stare narrowed on Regina as she tried to wrap her thinkpan around the Queen's words, completely and utterly perplexed by her offer. The hair on the back of her neck bristled as the other girl altruistically teased her. Akko would have given anything at that moment to lunge at the grinning brat and sink her claws into her throat, see that royal fuschia blood, however the bars separating them kept her feet planted firmly in place as she instead remained eerily motionless. She didn't like being toyed with. The laboured heaving of her shallow breath had even seemed to cease, but internally, she writhed. Regina's offer both roused and petrified her. Akko had remained still and tried her best to brush the Queen off for the sake of resistance- if she were to be culled anyway- but now the mutantblood just didn't know how to respond. She still didn't entirely believe the Queen's taunts, but her protein sack twisted with uneasy hope nonetheless.

She tried her best to keep her expression evenly steeled, somewhat failing, as she spoke. "Whatever, just let me go already." Regina wouldn't really her off the metaphorical hook that easily... would she? Byakko uncrossed her arms, dropping them loosely to her sides as she shrugged bitterly. "Or I'm going to start thinking again that you're enjoying our time together."

"Ugggh" Regina slumped back and rolled her eyes. What did she have to do to get her point across? Say it out loud? She doubted saying it out loud would have the desired effect. b***h would probably do the opposite to just be disagreeable. "You are like, the most boring troll ever." After a few moments of silence, she pushed herself to her feet stiffly. Giving Byakko a long, blank look, she turned and stumped down the hallway. Silence filled the room, but was soon replaced by returning footsteps and the sound of something being dragged.

A few moments later she was back, hauling the other girl's kanabo. Leaning it against the wall opposite from the cell, she walked up to the bars. "Hey. Wanna know a secret?" Leaning forward, she pushed at the door of the cell, and it swung open at the touch. Unlocked, like it had been from the start. Byakko would have realized this, if she had ever touched it. Smiling again, Regina stepped back and rested a hand on the other girl's weapon. "I do kinda enjoy our time together. It's like going to watch a comedy act, but for free!"

Byakko tensely shifted her weight as the other girl groaned. Boring? Well, she had certainly had heard that a lot... At least her straight forwardness seemed to irritate Regina, which she took a brief moment to bitterly relish in as the cell block fell silent. As the Queen slunk away, Byakko let out a shuddered sigh, wiping the sweat beading at her still bloodied brow with the back of her hand. Akko frowned down at the bottle still resting beside where she stood, trying her best to steady her shaky gasps and nerves. Her apprehension only grew with the deafening silence. It wasn't long before Regina swaggered back, as was expected, but what her captor was dragging along behind her left Byakko's jaw slightly agape despite her best efforts.

Then Regina swung the prison door open with ease, and her lower jaw dropped even further as she gazed in utter disbelief. Are you ******** kidding me. Akko's eyes widened as she returned her confounded stare back to the ever grinning Regina, trembling with both humiliation and rage. That b***h, that ******** b***h- She needed to play along now, if it meant getting her weapon, and more importantly, her freedom back- so Regina wasn't bluffing after all? Escape still seemed futile to the mutantblood, but without the bars that had supposedly been separating the two, Byakko's passive sulking was quickly abandoned.

"Well, I don't," A gutteral growl of retort ripped from her throat, and acting almost on instinct, Byakko darted down to snatch the bottle Regina had offered her earlier by its neck. Stepping as swiftly as her aching body could allow, Akko moved to swing the bottle against the cell bars, shattering its base with a spray of coloured liquid and shards of glass. She staggered, glancing down at the crude weapon in her hands before snapping to sidestep over, snarling at Regina from the other side of the open doorway. "Is this what you want?" Byakko had the same defiant stare painted across her face, but she was clearly incited with a renewed fury.

Without any other warning, Byakko lunged at her enemy, brandishing the jagged bottle as she tore towards the other girl's throat, aiming more to separate Regina from her kanabo than full out attack her. Yet.

Regina's eyebrows went up as Byakko's patience ran out with an audible snap. Stepping back, she quickly dragged the other girl's weapon around in front of her, tip of the heavy object scraping on the floor as she attempted to block the glass aimed at her throat. Instead it sliced up the side of the queen's arm as she used the large and bulky weapon as a shield.

"Ha HA! Yeah there ya go!! Damn girl, you're impatient!" The laugh was half amused surprise, half approval. Still struggling to lift the heavy wooden kanabo that came up to nearly her height, she swung it back out, letting go of the handle to let it go crashing into Byakko. Taking the milliseconds of reprieve to flick the blood dripping off her arm and draw her own sabre, she cocked her head, watching intently.

Something about watching that tyrian blood beginning to bead and drip down the Queen's arm seemed to spark another flame of vigor from within Byakko. She hissed ferociously and snapped her fangs at Regina as she bounded backwards after her first strike, immediately lowering herself into a defensive position.

She knew perfectly well that the other girl facing her was just another troll, if not a terrifyingly powerful one, but seeing Regina's blood smeared across the broken glass she still clutched reminded her once again what her opponent really was. Exoskeleton and blood. Just another troll. Things that bled could get hurt. Things that could get hurt, died. The situation still may have seemed overwhelmingly hopeless to the rebel leader, but this one thin sliver of truth was enough to continue to drive her. Even if Regina had no real intention of letting her go, at least she could go down fighting.

Akko didn't have much time to catch her footing before her own weapon was hurled at her, and while she attempted to dart out of the way, the spinning kanabo still made impact with her gut before clattering noisily to the floor. "Nngh-" She bit back a grunt of pain and doubled over, taking the chance to fluidly reach down and retrieve her club with her free hand. Recovering quickly, Byakko straightened up and without hesitation whipped the remaining shards of the bottle at Regina's head; matching the Queen's stare as she rose her own weapon with both fists. It felt so, so good to have it back- it didn't feel natural to be unarmed. "Well? Show me how a Queen fights, then!" She sneered and curled her claws around the familiar handle wrap, tightening her grip around the hefty weapon before launching towards Regina once again, this time swinging her kabano wildly at the Queen in a rapid succession of frenzied strikes. She didn't care where her flurry struck- she just wanted to make Regina hurt.

"Traditionally - " Raising her sabre, Regina held it in both hands to deflect the blows raining down on her. She could feel the vibrations shaking up through her small arms, as she was slowly pushed backwards by the ferocity of Byakko's attack. " - traditionally, a queen fights from her ship, y'know." There wasn't any time to counterattack, no moment she could dart forward with her weapon. "If I fought properly, like the queen I am, you wouldn't even get the satisfaction of seeing my face as your think pan melted out through your sponge clots."

Despite her gritted teeth as she was forced to back slowly towards the railing that encircled the prision's balcony, Regina was still able to smile at her furious opponent. "You oughta be glad I've got a little revolutionary in me too, mutantblood. Though if you really wanna see it, then who am I to deny ya, huh?" The sensation was like a cold bucket of ice, sliding up through Byakko's mouth and nose, culminating in an electric caress of her mind. It was a brief sensation that passed as quickly as it came.

By this point Akko was drenched once more in sweat, growling and snarling as her blows rained down onto Regina's sabre. She couldn't seem to break past the Queen's defences, and it only fuelled the rage sustaining the mutant's berserker-like frenzy. That, and Regina's ******** awful, s**t eating grin.

"Who would want to fight their battles from the safety of some ship? Where's the fun in that?" The red hot words ripped from her raw throat almost involuntarily, before Byakko could even register what she was saying. She was not having fun. That's definitely not what she meant to imply. <********> Sure, she enjoyed a good sparring match as much as the next troll, but this was altogether different. Akko let out a feral shriek, continuing her flurry of strikes.

That was, until she was hit with Gl'bgolyb's psychic blast.

Stumbling backwards, Akko grunted in surprise, withdrawing from her barrage against Regina. Her eyes went glassy as she desperately tried to blink away the sharp pain stinging in her head, managing to prop her kanabo up in a defensive stance. Byakko's arms trembled while she heaved. Gl's attack might not have lasted very long, but it left the mutant disoriented and reeling with confusion, open for an attack.

"T-that's it? A little thinkpan freeze?" she choked, still stumbling from the icy slap to her mind. Akko refused to stand there and catch her breath for much longer, and was soon advancing to resume her assault once more- but her movements were sluggish, having lost some of her previous avidity. Spinning with the full force of her body, she thrusted her kanabo towards Regina, aiming to hit the Queen in an awkward enough angle that she wouldn't be able to parry.

"Too bad you can't fight as well as you can run your mouth."

"What, you wanna feel more? Are you a masochist as well as a mutant?" There was no doubt that Byakko was besting her physically, but Regina would be damned if she could win on the emotional front as well. She had been forced to justify this little rendezvous to her aggravatingly prudish retinue as well as her, as a test of the enemy's defences. To learn their capabilities, as well as their handicaps. After witnessing and defending against a few swings of the kanabo, she was feeling pretty certain that a capability possessed by the enraged mutant was breaking limbs. Avoiding that was probably a good call. Ever since calling on her mother for a demonstration she could feel the presence in her head, more alert, watching, judging her actions and choices. It helped to keep her alert and smiling, the heavy presence that would pick her apart if she so much voiced any of the pain in her muscles.

All these thoughts flashed through Regina's mind as Byakko wound up the hit intended to break through the queen's guard. As the heavy weapon lashed out, Regina jumped back, equally sure of her own inability to block. She felt the metal railings that ringed the circular balcony press hard into her back. Let's play tag with a pissed off subject. Her special pissed off subject. Pushing to the side, the kanabo bounced a glancing blow off the side of her head, and smashed down, tearing a hole in the railings that left a dangerous gap, sucking cold mountain air into the void on the other side. Looking down over the side of the balcony, another could be seen below, and another, fading away to the ground floor somewhere far below in the circular tower. Of course, ground could mean 500 feet underground. Building down, rather than up, was easiest in the mountains.

Glancing over at the wreckage, Regina's smile stiffened. She was no lowblood, but in her mind's eye she could see them slipping over the edge, should concentration lapse for a moment. She thrust her weapon without thinking, continuing the fight through muscle memory, through the training she had taken care to force into herself since she could wield a sword, that for a queen was necessary to survive. There was no fumbling or panic, dropped guard or questioned strength. She wasn't throwing out condescension and insults anymore, but her smile was still there through the faint trickle of sweat and blood that had begun to trickle down her face.

Byakko let out a low, drawn out growl when Regina dodged around the brunt of her attack, crescendoing into a screech of frustration when her kanabo missed and crunched into the balcony railing. The weight of her weapon effortlessly crumpled the thin metal bars, ensnaring a few of its iron spikes between them in the process. Yanking on the handle, Akko desperately tried to wrench it free, breaking her rabid glower at Regina to glance down at the tangled heap of metal.

She only looked away a mere second, but when Akko's vision jolted back to over at the Queen, she was met by a flash of gleaming metal as the sabre's blade swiped dangerously close to her throat. A choked gasp escaped her lips and the mutantblood bobbed her head out of the way, narrowly escaping what could have easily been a fatal blow. Sweat beaded down her blood smeared face.

Planting her feet on the ground, Akko lifted her kanabo to try and defend again the smaller girl's onslaught. The next strike of Regina's sabre sprung off her club with a metallic clink, before ricocheting to slice through Byakko's shoulder. The mutant let out a startled cry and hissed, warm blood gushing down her arm to pool at her sandals. Despite the searing pain ripping through her shoulder she managed to keep her weapon up, deflecting Regina's blows with increasing focus.

A strangely reinvigorating trance, brought on by the pain, overtook Akko as she matched Regina's ferocious onslaught; countering the Queen's slashes almost instinctively. Like Regina, her blood hue meant a threat lurking around every corner, and Akko had honed her skills simply because there was no other survival option. While the same could be said for most trolls, for them, fighting quite literally meant living.

And fighting Regina felt different.

Without warning she dropped to the ground, pressing one palm firmly against the bloodied floor before winding up to kick at the Queen. One, well aimed strike at her gut, intentioned to push her back towards the gaping hole in the railing. Byakko's wrathful stare was ever present, grunting as she lashed out with the force of the attack.

The kick connected. Unfortunately for Byakko, and fortunately for Regina, the queen found herself with free hands which grabbed at the railing as she suddenly found herself stumbling backwards. Unfortunately for Regina, those free hands were at the cost of her sword, which rebounded off the floor with a clatter, then another, then slid through the railing and tumbled into the abyss beyond.

The queen's eyes didn't follow it, they were trained on the mutantblood in front of her as she stood, feet planted on the edge and each hand grabbing a railing, but her sponge clots strained to hear the sound of it's impact on the ground far below. Well. This wasn't ideal. Regina could feel her thoughts kick into overdrive, and at the same time increase in volume, to drown out the sudden hike in volume from her lusus's ever present whispers.

"Hey... checkmate, right?" Even as she smiled and gave the light comment, her muscles were tensed and she shifted her weight slowly, trying to get in a position to spring, either to one side, the other, or as a final option, directly into Byakko's friendly welcoming ******** missed

When the sabre slipped from Regina's grasp and disappeared over the edge of the balcony, Byakko's pump biscuit skipped a beat. Short of Regina herself falling, Akko couldn't have hoped for a better result- she was gaining the upper hand. Would she... would she actually make it out of this alive? Until that moment, the mutantblood had only been fighting for self preservation, even if it seemed futile. But now, the ******** Queen was cornered. They were alone. There was no more panic. A malicious smile spread across Byakko's face.

Quickly flipping herself back on her feet, she rose her kanabo, stopping to catch her haggard breath and stare down Regina. The gash in Akko's arm continued to scream in pain, ushering in reminders of her wounds and the earlier battle that night. Her whole body burned- the adrenaline was wearing off now, but she'd be damned if she was going to stop now. Rubbing her cheek on her shoulder to wipe away the bloodied hair clinging to her face, Akko let out a ruthless scoff.

"I don't like playing your stupid games." Her eyes gleamed as she brandished her weapon; tossing it hand to hand while she wordlessly flaunting that the Queen was now unarmed. Geta scraping along the stone floor, Byakko slunk closer to Regina, grin widening. "Honestly, I expected more from you, of all trolls."

Winding up to strike, Akko sunk down as she dragged her kanabo across the floor and behind herself. Growling, she twisted and bolted upright, attempting to crush Regina with one decisive over handed blow-

And she entirely missed, only succeeding in ripping the hole in the railing even larger.

Damn. Regina wasn't surprised that she had goaded the mutant to the point where she'd be willing to cull her. She was a little more surprised that the girl wasn't thinking of the consequences. As far as she knew, and she knew a damn lot about most things important to her own survival, Regina was pretty sure there was no new tyrian purpleblooded wiggler ready to pop into her place if she got offed. Honestly, no wonder this bumbling joke of a troll lead her group into trap after trap, if she just kept putting her own --

-- as Byakko's weapon whiffed past her, Regina's body saw the moment it had been tensing for. With barely a nod to her brain for confirmation, it leapt forward, shoving hard into the mutant, gaining her some much needed ground. As the girl's guard was open, Regina also took the opportunity to punch her in the face. You really didn't think it would be that easy, did you? Screamed her expression, as she sneered up at the taller girl.

As Regina's knuckles made contact with her cheek, there was a sickening crack of bone accompanied by a spray of vibrant pink blood from her sniff nub. Upon impact, Byakko's neck snapped around, shooting the sharp stabbing of pains of whiplash through her shoulder. Akko gasped and tottered backwards, blinded by pain.

Okay, she hadn't seeen that one coming. Despite her pathetically unintimidating size, Regina could throw a ******** punch.

Cradling her face nub in one hand, blood streamed profusely from between her fingers. It bubbled down Akko's chin as she spat onto the floor, hissing back in retaliation. The pink speckles showered down across the balcony, misting Regina's shoes.

She wasted no more time before scrabbling against the floor and leaping towards the Queen. Violently screeching, she lashed and jutting her kanabo out, batting haphazardly at Regina.

How was this b***h still standing?

"Haaaa!! Your face!!! Unf - " Regina was unable to control the shriek-like cry of amusement at Byakko's expression. Taunting one moment, wide-eyed in surprise the next. The queen's laugh was cut short by a blow in return, and she staggered back, still careful to fall away from the ledge, spitting out a tooth. Licking her tongue over her gums, she glanced past Byakko, at part of the railing that had become detatched from the rest, suffering enough rage-fueled blows from the mutant's weapon. The sharp edges of the snapped metal gleamed, and in turn, reflected in the queen's eyes.

Her eyes focused on it for only a second, before returning back to her opponent. "You keep underestimating me, mutant. If you do it again, I ain't gonna be responsible for sending the message of your culling to your lusus. Oh wait, that's right." Keep the other troll angry, don't let them realize that if they stay out of arm's reach they can probably just bat your head clean off your shoulders. After all, she was probably stupid and shortsighted enough to try. " You don't get one, do ya? No wonder you're as dumb as a brick."

She spat again, this time aiming for the other girl's face. It was enough of an edge, giving her the time to dart forward and close the gap between them again. This time however, she went for a gut punch and at the same time tried to dart past Byakko, to the twisted railing on the other side of her.

A white hot ball of rage rose in Byakko's throat, catching in a tangled mess. She swallowed hard, barely managing to contain the hostile roar that tore from her throat.

"Shut up!" Akko heaved, doubled over as her whole frame trembled with fury. She screwed her face up and shook her head, in some vain attempt to refuse Regina's taunts. "Shut up- you have no <******** idea what you're talking about!" Blood dripped down her face, saturating the pelt of Trolldad's lusus. Regina's words cut far deeper than her sabre had managed to slice, even though Akko had no reason to believe that the Queen's snide remark had been an underhanded insult at her dead guardian. Trolldad had been- was- everything to the mutantblood. The driving motive behind all her actions. He had been a gogdamn hero. Regina had managed to slam her fist down on the most sensitive, and dusty, of the mutant's many buttons. And then Regina had the audacity to spit, which thankfully missed her face, straight onto the stained pelt she wore in memorium. Byakko broke her stare to seethe down at the glob of fuchsia. Her mutant blood boiled with the heat of all the universe's dying suns.

Dizzied with anger and pain as she was boxed straight in the gut, Akko snarled weakly and reciprocated by trying to push Regina closer to the gaping hole with her elbows as she grazed past. "I guess you have the parent of the ******** sweep, huh?" An armless Regina didn't scare her much without her military at her back... much. Still, she could feel herself steadily loosing the upper hand, and the panic had begun to creep back with steadied pangs.

Byakko's knees shook with fatigue.
