A hand slapped against her mouth to keep the laugh from falling out when her twintail was tugged, a sign of affection she'd since learned did not mean what it had used to back home.
Vastly excited to actually get out into the city Abbi breached the sidewalk, carving a small space for Chance with her frame as she waved at him to follow.
"Stick close!" She chirped, head already turning down to tap instructions into her phone, not really interested in looking where she was going. She could be jostled by people, but so long as her companion was nearby it wouldn't matter.

"We'll hit the bookstore first, mostly cause I want some notebooks and something fun to read. There's one a few blocks from here!" For a moment she turned devilish, gleeful at recruiting another person into the Cult of Purikura. But that mischief turned to curiosity a second later and she grinned at her friend.
"I didn't know you did art! Should of guessed what with the..." She kind of vaguely gesticulated to all of him.
"And the bubble tea isn't like, actual bubbles... They're tapioca beads in the tea! You gotta suck them out through this big straw and they're really squishy and slimy and so soooo good."

Well on their way she navigated the streets like she lived here, not walking too fast to lose Chance but quick enough to dart around people.
"Any other places you wanna hit? Clothes or somethin'?"

He followed Abbi obediently, resisting the urge to reach out and use one of her ponytails as a kind of leash to keep them from getting separated. The color of her hair, at least, was bright enough in general to allow Chance a visual of what to follow, but the crowded streets just meant he had to walk a little faster in order to stay near to her.

"Bookstores are excellent places," said Chance breezily. "I definitely approve of bookstores. And yeah, I do a bit of art here and there." A laugh escaped him. "I don't really consider myself an actual artist, per say, but I do enjoy it. I'll draw you something later, if you want, just lemme know what you want."

His eyebrows rose in mild interest. "That sounds kind of weird, but at the same time, kind of interesting, so I'm all for it. As for other stores..."

Chance shrugged; someone jostled into him, knocking him a few steps, and this time he really did reach out, fingers closing around the hem of Abbi's coat as casually as could be, his other hand in the pocket of his own jacket.

"I might want to stop by another tattoo place - but then again, I could have Zac do it, really," he mused thoughtfully. "But I was thinking of getting another tattoo, or maybe another piercing."

Had Chance actually reached out to use her hair as a leash, the teen would have probably laughed for the entirety of their trip and made endless jokes about how he really was living up to his canine namesake. Instead, she continues on her way, looking back occasionally as she spoke to him.
"What kinda stuff do you like doing?" Though she didn't know much of art, Abbi was not going to ask for something wholly outside his artistic bubble and didn't want to make a request without parameters first.

"Bubble tea is the best, you'll love it." She promised with a grin and turned back around, dodging deftly around someone and would have continued merrily on her way had she not felt the tug on her clothing.
Initially she thought it was someone in the crowd making a sneaky pass at her and for a moment she turned around with a fierce frown, prepared to call the person out. When she found it was Chance the expression disappeared immediately, but it did leave Abbi with a bit of a quandary.
If this were Leslie they could just hold hands like the two squabbling siblings they had become. If it were Chel or Jack she could just hold onto their shirt or even follow in their shadow, but today it was her day to lead.
For a second longer she deliberated, but people began to bump the small girl as she stood on the sidewalk and finally she decided.

With a skip she dodged forward and slipped one hand through the loop Chance's arm made from being in his pocket.
"Hope this is ok. Wouldn't want you to get lost." Abbi offered with a quick smile, her gaze moving back to their path mostly because she wasn't used to being so close to people she wasn't awfully familiar with and hoped to hide her mild flush.
"Ooooohhh~ What do you wanna get a tattoo of?" A small tug on his elbow and she was back to navigating the sidewalk, a little slower now that they were side by side.
"I'll go with you to check some places out, but if you'd rather bring someone else back with you that's fine too. You should always get a tattoo with someone you won't want to forget! That way, yanno, you'll remember them when you look at your tattoo!" It was all very sound advice and she certainly wasn't going to push herself into something as personal as inking their skin permanently.
"Did I ever show you mine?"

He considered the question for a moment, letting out a little hum of thought. "I like drawing people," Chance said, head tilted a little to the side so that his dark curls fell in slashes over his pale forehead. "And I like drawing different poses, anything dynamic is fun for me. Your hair is something that I think would be good to draw," he added, peering at it with an expression of interest. "There's so much of it, and it's got a lot of movement."

For someone who'd never had an art class in his life, he still contemplated things like this. He didn't have too much longer to think on it, however, because a second later, Abbi had swung around, her hand resting in the crook of his elbow. Chance turned to look at her, flashing a brief smile. His own hand that had fallen away from her coat as she'd moved now went to his other pocket.

"Getting lost here would be something of a problem," he said with an easy laugh. "And I was thinking something of an arrow design, maybe? I had kind of an idea, but really just something that represents Ace would be fun." He shrugged. "I don't usually get tattoos that hold a great deal of meaning other than I just like them, but in this case I think it could be pretty cool."

As if in answer to this, the weapon gave a little thrum of approval inside of his head. Chance hid a smile, bumping into Abbi's side as the people around them jostled and moved.

"Don't worry about it," he said lightly. "I'm not really the sentimental type, after all. And you're good company as it is."

The smile he gave her turned curious as his eyes strayed to her face.

"What's yours? I don't think I knew you had one..."

There were a million other questions she wanted to ask (art had always been a faraway sort of thing, murky in scope, impossible in practice for herself), but they all disappear when he talks about her hair. The hand that isn't curled against the crook of his elbow reaches out to grab a bundle of curls and pulls them against her cheek, a small attempt to hide her blush.
"I think that's the nicest thing anyone's said about my hair." And its true. For a long time after today she will think of what he says, not sure exactly what to do with the compliment other than hoard it as though it is precious gold.

"Oh! An arrow would be really cool! I bet... Asher would really like it!" Though it takes her a second to recall what his weapon's proper name is, she remembers in time and hopes it appreciates her attempts to honor itself. "You say that, but I bet you get all squishy in your heart pit about like... Puppies, or somethin'." Likely, it is not puppies, but Abbi hopes that maybe he'll indulge her and tell her about it. Its a stretch to think so, but he's obliged her with her favorite city so maybe the charm of the Big Apple will make him sympathetic to her whims.
"Well, if you wanna get an arrow I'll hold your hand." She laughed and toyed with the idea of getting a moon, or the bloom of Viveca's gem, something that will linger and speak for her.

A sly smile turns her mouth up and she tugs on his elbow to turn a corner.
"I've got two." Its like sharing a secret when she holds out both her hands and flips them so they are palm up and the little black lines are staring up. The left wrist holds "Heads" above a Bird, whereas on the right wrist there is "Tails" above a Cage
"Its from a game." She offers helpfully, watching his face carefully for any indication of his opinion.

Chance turned his head to look at her, eyebrows raised in mild surprise before his gaze shifted back to the front.

"I don't see why it should be, loads of people should say nice things about your hair," he said mildly. "It's pretty stand out-ish, that's pretty cool, and it's got a nice color and movement to it, like I've said. Even from a non-art point of view, you've got some pretty badass hair."

He smiled reassuringly at her, though it shifted into one of amusement that she had remembered his weapon's name. Asher gave a thrum of approval in Chance's head, a gust of metaphorical cold shifting through his thoughts as the demon ebbed its pleasure out.

"I'm sure they would appreciate it, yes, thank you," said Chance with a laugh. "They sound appreciative in my head right now, at least."

A breath escaped him. "Ahhhh, maybe not puppies, but I do certainly have an affinity for one thing in particular," said Chance thoughtfully. "I don't know if you've noticed it yet, but if you take a second longer to look, it's more obvious. Even if it's not, though, see if you can guess," he added, his eyes twinkling as he pressed a finger to his lips like they were sharing a secret. "What I'm squishy about, that is."

He followed where she was leading him and glanced down as the people around them jostled and pushed and shoved. Unfazed by his surroundings, Chance's eyes traced the lines of Abbi's tattoos with interest, squinting slightly as though he was trying to place them.

"I think they're fantastic," he said, touching the tips of two fingers against her wrist to hold it steady so he could look more closely. "Admittedly, I don't know what game it is, but I think they look pretty cool as it is. And they sort of fit you."

Chance let go of her wrist, his breath visible in the cool air as he smiled. "I would show you mine, but they require taking off a few layers, and it's a little crowded here, so maybe after."

Unable to stop herself, Abbi screwed her face up into extreme confusion and doubt, her smile breaking up into a frown at the remembrance of ugly things she'd been called in her life. Her hair had not often been a source of pride, but it had been her's and all of sudden the teen feels very confused as to why she felt sourly before when she feels so proud now.
"Thanks." Is all she can manage, too little with so much pinned to it, her voice sounding a little far away, but at least the frown is gone.

"So do you two like... Talk? Or is it all the image-y kind of convos?" There has not been much occasion for Abbi to talk to others about their weapons, and she knows in a far away place that she might not have the most normal relation with her ghost. Another's input would be interesting, and Chance is just vague enough that the teen could see him never truly communicating with words with his own headmate when images could work. Its all guess work, but she's asked and she's awfully good at asking him questions.

The challenge makes her perk up and Abbi hmm's and umm's, she curls her free hand around her chin and keeps them on their path, thinking it over. She knows she knows it, she's just play acting and trying to recall if there could be anything she's missed, just in case.
But finally, as they are nearing the store, she lets go of her chin to poke at his shirt.
"The stars." She says, a little more awestruck than she means to, but only because she rather likes them too.

"Naw, don't worry about it, its a kinda recent game. I-D-K, I liked it a lot. About this girl who was kept in a tower her whole life, then she gets out and saves the world type thing. Sorta." That's a vast simplification of the game, but she really doesn't have time to get in depth about the Bioshock series when they're crossing the street with the bookstore ahead of them.
"Um I mean like-- Only if you want to!" She's flushed and flustered because she doesn't want him to have to take things off if he doesn't want and because she's always a little nervous about this. Nervous, but curious, so she shrugs and ushers him hastily into the store.

He blinked at the frown, taken aback by the suddenness of it, the pinched look on her face rather a startling contrast to her normal cheer. Chance wondered if maybe he'd said something off, or if he'd insulted her somehow when he'd talked about her hair.

"I'm sorry," he said cautiously, turning to look at her. "Did I say something that bothered you? If so, I apologize, I didn't mean to."

He lifted his free hand and scratched his cheek with gloved fingers. "Most of the time we don't seem to always need words," he answered Abbi, with a little smile. "Asher is pretty good about interpreting what it is that I'm thinking without actually saying anything out loud, though sometimes words are necessary. What about you and your weapon?"

They had walked a few more steps, and Abbi was now scrutinizing him, her eyes moving across him to try and gauge the answer to the posed question. Chance just stood there and smiled benignly, letting out a little laugh when she finally spoke.

"Yes," he said, with some amusement. "I have a fondness for stars that's mostly unrivaled. They're really just immensely fascinating."

The explanation behind the tattoos was short and brief, but even so, Chance found it interesting. "I never got to play many games as a child, so maybe one day I can get one of those PlayStation things runic'd up so that I can actually learn what they're like," he said, and his smile widened a little, grew more pronounced.

"I don't mind, really," he said mildly. "They're just tattoos, and I'm pretty happy with them, so it's no bother to show you them."

But she was pushing him into the store, and Chance twisted around to catch sight of Abbi's face, a cheerful expression on his own.

"You lead, I'll follow."

"No no! Its ok!" Her free hand waved frantically, tapped against her forehead quickly, and went back to jabbing the air in a frustrated manner. "OK, you probably won't understand because, yanno, you're gorgeous. But like... You ever had something that like... People used to make fun of?" To keep herself from flailing constantly she had resorted to tugging at one of her pigtails, reminding herself what she was trying to get across.
"I've always been called 'ginger' like it was gross and other bad stuff, but now... People think its... Pretty? I-D-K its weird." There was too much honesty going on, given how she'd wanted to shrug the whole excursion off earlier, but Abbi can't help herself.
"I don't usually feel... Good? So, thanks. Is really what I meant. Thank you."

Happy to move on Abbi turns more enthusiastic, forgetting her sentimentality.
"The universe is crazy cool and there's like a bajillion stars, its awesome." Which is to say, she is quite proud of Chance's choice in fascination. If it were possible she would give him a hearty thumbs up, but she leaves off just because there are games to talk about.
"I'm seriously considering runicing one myself. I miss my games so much." And she seems genuinely upset to be without her favorite pasttime, grinning up at him a second later. "OK. I totes wanna see them. But after the store because first... Boooooks!"

Not sure where to start, Abbi drags him over to the first section that catches her eye, which seems to be guides and maps. Here she lets go of him to grab at a restaurant guide of the city they are in, quickly scanning a few pages before she shelves the book and flits off down the aisle toward the young adult section.

He was slightly surprised by her frank description of him as gorgeous; but it made him smile a little, the corners of his lips quirking upwards just the smallest amount. Chance's shoulders relaxed, and he reached out, lightly threading his fingers through the brightly colored curls.

"Well," he said, letting his hand fall away. "I think feeling good is a good thing. But I'm sorry that people made fun of you for it, it seems pointless for others to get worked up over something that's obviously rather nice."

But the subject was dropped, because Abbi's enthusiasm was spilling over into vibrant excitement, her eyes wide, and Chance laughed. "Yes, I am a huge fan of the bajillion stars," he said with a grin. "As for games, I'm woefully unfamiliar with a lot, so I think I need to get myself educated, I know Oliver is a large fan of video games..."

He trailed off thoughtfully, letting Abbi drag him along as he followed obediently. Chance's eyes roamed the shelves, and while Abbi floated happily toward the fiction section, he found himself more interested in the nonfiction section, idly picking up a few of the historical fact books and flipping through them.

(He got very involved in one concerning the history of Henry VIII.)

Unused to people touching her hair, letting alone really most any part of her, Abbi flushed and pressed the tips of her fingers to one cheek.
"Peeps are weird." Was all she could settle on, smiling despite her flush, clearly a skiddish creature beginning to warm up to attention.

"I've probs asked what your favorite star is, but if I haven't you should totes tell me." And maybe any other fun star facts he knew, which was undoubtedly many. But that was what Abbi was hoping for, even if she might get slightly sidetracked by game talk.
"That's ok! No one has played every game, its more about playin' what you like best! Got any favorites?" She does file away the mention of Oliver, who she's never gotten the chance to meet and only conversed with on Twitter. Maybe one day she'll find him and they will Best Gaming Buddies.

The fiction section only holds her interest for a little while, mostly because she cannot carry all the books she wants to buy (which is... All of them) and despite all that swinging around of her scythe, she has to shelve a few for a later time. That doesn't stop her from grabbing a few comics and stumbling her way over to Chance, grateful that he is tall enough so a few curls peeks over the shelf tops.
"Find anything good?" She chirps, shifting the pile around in her arms and trying to find the most comfortable way to carry her boast worthy stack.
