"You're not worthless," Albert said, gently but firmly. He wasn't going to let his daughter insult herself over something she literally had no control over. That was just letting her get away with something that could hurt her very badly in the long run. "Just because you aren't a soldier doesn't mean you aren't helping, little bird," he continued, patting her hair. "Having you to come home to is worth more than I can say. But as for the stupid... yes, this mess is stupid but I wouldn't say everything is. after all, I'm not am I?" Come on, Wrenny... smile just a little. For your daddy...

"I'm scared of losing people. Specially you." Emily peered up with sad blue eyes finally, frowning. "And, you have Uncle Tom and Aunt Emily an' my brother and the other kids too." She reminded gently. "We all need you daddy. Just. Feel like I should be able to do more." She snuggled in before sighing. "You should help people stop being completely stupid." Emily admitted. "Cause otherwise bad stuff might happen." Like, oh, say the slaughter of their entire family.

"Shhh," Albert teased gently, and tapped her nose with a finger. "I know I do, but let me make you feel special for once, hmm? You're my only little birdie, after all." At her quiet admission, he winced. Had she had... he hoped not. That would be too much. Far too much for his sweet daughter. "I know. And I might become someone very unpleasant, too. Will you keep me from becoming that, Emily Wren? I could use your help with staying me."

Emily nodded readily, clinging to him tightly. She wasn't sure she ought to mention her nightmares, but she did shoot a worried look towards her aunt and uncle's room before clinging tighter, keening a bit more. "I'll figure out howe to help more too. I'll put my double major to really good use. I promise." Even if she ended up with the Winter Plague for it - she wasn't losing her family.

Albert followed her glance and couldn't hide his wince. "So long as you don't put yourself in danger to do so," he said quietly. Emily... he would have to do something to protect his sister-in-law somehow. If only he knew what. All he was certain of was that Tom simply couldn't handle losing her - and that the heart of their family seemed to be gone with her absence in those nightmares. Those far-too-real nightmares. "Promise me you'll stay safe, little bird."

Emily noticed, and wondered if he'd had similar nightmares, before deciding not to ask, shaking her head before hiding in him. "I try." And she paused. "Been attacked by two youma, seen two battles happen and I know some people though. And I think talking cats might be a thing." A WEIRD thing. "War's weird..." But the crying stopped and she clung to her father tightly. Warm, safe, and happy.

"Talking... cats." Normally Albert would have written that off as something meaning Emily's meds needed an adjustment, but... given the rather magical nature of everything else so far.... He groaned. "Talking cats. Order and Chaos. Is this real life? Or is it some magical girl anime like Card Captor Sakura?" Well, obviously not since things were much more serious than magical girl anime ever were. But still. Talking cats.

"So one cat I thought was a science experiment, but then one talked to Helicon. I kind of think they want food." Emily admitted, before leaning on Albert more heavily than she meant to, nuzzling. Being drained was tiring - and her adrenaline was crashing, hard.

"Well, presumably at least they are cats, whether or not they can talk. Albeit I think I remember the one you mentioned - the poor thing was used as a football during the fight." And he thought had turned into a girl, but Albert wasn't sure - there had been other, more immediate things on his mind than flying and transforming cats. "I do hope she was alright..."

"That wasn't nice. She was probably scared and hungry." Emily nodded. Of cats, she knew little. "Totally not fair."

"Hard to say. I don't claim to know how magic cats work," Albert said with a shrug. "But we can keep an eye out or her and help her if we see her again, alright?" He paused, then shrugged. "And any other talking cats we run across, I suppose." Were there evil talking cats, too? He just didn't know.

"Kay." Emily settled into her daddy slowly, sighing and resting her head against his chest before closing her eyes. "Nesty time..."

"Yes," Albert cooed, shifting his hold to shelter and protect his daughter from the world. It was a temporary protection, but it made her feel safer, and in turn that made him feel safer as well. They were home, they were reasonably okay, and neither of them had been captured by the Negaverse. While Albert felt bad about those who had been, for now he was just thankful that neither he nor his daughter were among them. Right now it was time to rest, and tomorrow? Learn more about the situation. Nothing more, nothing less.
