you say goodbye, I say KIA ORA MATE
He would have knocked, but there was no door, so Arorangi settled for barging in noisily, his massive arms filled with what appeared to be an entire store's worth of presents all wrapped together.
"GREETINGS, MY YOUNG FRIEND!"

The Thought That CountsMolly felt incredibly relieved when Oliver expressed joy at the plushes. She had a nagging worry he'd be incredibly sad because it might remind him of the...fallen mini-pets. Whew. For the most part of Oliver's spheel, Molly just nodded her head, because she really wasn't in the loop with Pokemon and teams aside from the bits she learned from Allan and from bits and snippets of talk from Life techs. "Maybe you could ask around in the Life labs...?" Molly offered, her brows knitting. "I hear them talk about it a lot..." She nodded her head again, more vigorously this time. "Mhm! I made a variety too...because I wasn't sure which ones you'd like!"

you say goodbye, I say KIA ORA MATEOliver yelped loudly (in greeting, probably) and jumped with a painful vigour that spoke well for his recovery. "Aro, this is an infirmary!" He chided, pressing one hand against his chest as though it would slow his frantic heart. "A-and you have a really big voice." And a big armful of gifts. The boy eyed his friend suspiciously, and then asked in a tiny voice, " Did you look at my file too?"

The Thought That CountsOliver nodded, "I-I will. Or I could ask Finn where he got his game system, I don't often see the techs who work on runic things, I'm mostly in the biology areas of the labs." He squished one of the pokemon in his hands as he smiled at the treats, and suddenly his lower lip began to quiver. "That's really a-amazing." The boy sniffled and raised the hand with the IV, but set it down again. Then he gingerly wiped his face with the back of his other hand. "I-I really like a lot of types cookies..."

"AN INFIRMARY DOES NOT MEAN THAT I CANNOT BE EXCITED FOR YOU, MY GOOD FRIEND," Arorangi boomed, and unceremoniously dumping all of the gifts onto Oliver's bed and then standing with his hands on his hips, looking proud of himself.
"No," he said, "But a little birdy that was not yourself told me that it was someone's birthday today!"

rawr!Shiloh had slipped in quietly, hoping to catch Oliver asleep and to leave his present behind, so he could open it on his own time, without having to entertain a visitor when he was feeling under the weather. Shiloh loved watching people open presents, but he also knew how serious things had to be to warrant a stay at the Deus infirmary and he didn't want to stress the poor hunter out. That being said, despite his best intentions, Shiloh was neither quiet or particularly graceful, especially not when carrying a giant ball of green fluff. He tried to squeeze it and himself into the room and succeeded in almost knocking over a vase of flowers and very loudly knocking into a table of trays.

you say goodbye, I say KIA ORA MATE"Infirmary means you have to keep it down a little!" Oliver hissed nervously, "You don't want to wake anyone up, do you?" He watched with some doubt as the gifts cascaded onto the bed, but at least the moderated tone pleased him. "I-it's not even a week after Christmas, what are all these for? They aren't for my birthday, are they?" Oliver picked up one of the packages. "I-I haven't celebrated my birthday in a long time...

Arorangi waved a hand. "It just means I need to spread more holiday cheer!" he said brightly, in spite of the fact that it was after the holidays. "Do not worry, my friend, I will not make a ruckus, I just came to see you and wish you a happy birthday!"
He looked a little confused at the question. "What do you mean, what they are for? They are for you! They are presents!"

Rawr!Oliver had been sleeping, or better put, drowsing, when Shiloh entered with his clumsy load. Had it been a natural sleep the boy would have woken with a startle rough enough to pull out half the stitches in his body. Yet the clatter merely brought him to a semi-wakened state. "Hmm?" He asked, gently rubbing his eyes. Even while half asleep he was careful not to disturb the bandages across his nose, cover the wound that crossed his face. "Oh, Shiloh. What are you doing here?"

you say goodbye, I say KIA ORA MATE"You already made a ruckus, I'm sure everyone is awake now," Oliver replied, but his sheepish smile said it was one of his infrequent jokes, not to be taken seriously. With so many gifts around him, Oliver was at a loss. It was like there were enough presents around him to make up for every year he had spent without celebrating his birthday, and Christmas besides! He picked one up, and put it down next to him only to pick up another one. The boy's lower lip quivered.

Arorangi just waved a hand in a noncommittal sort of way. Waking people up was something he didn't need to worry about, not when it was a certain someone's birthday that needed to be celebrated. Oliver's health and happiness was far more important.
But the exuberance ebbed away a little at the expression on his friend's face, and Arorangi's smile turned softer. He reached behind him and grabbed a chair, tugging it closer to the bed and sitting down beside it.
"What is that face for?" he asked gently, tapping Oliver's shoulder lightly with his fist. "It is your birthday, is it not, little bird?"

you say goodbye, I say KIA ORA MATEOliver nodded and wiped his eyes, but it was a minute before he could speak. "I d-don't... h-haven't had a birthday... in a few years." As he sniffled happily, it was clear the sheer number of gifts was almost more than he knew what to do with. He settled for turning one wrapped present over in his hands, and gingerly wiping his nose before it could get messy. He didn't mean to cry, it just... happened that way.

Arorangi was suitably horrified.
"HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE A BIRTHDAY?" he (almost) yelled (but not really). "Little bird, that is very unfortunate, I am very sorry that you have not had any birthdays, but I am here to help you make up for lost time!"
He clapped his hands together and gestured to the enormous heap of presents.
"We will open these!" Arorangi declared. "Here," he said, grabbing one lumpy package and thrusting it into Oliver's hands.

you say goodbye, I say KIA ORA MATE"I-it isn't that bad," Oliver insisted, his voice breaking slightly in happy tearfulness. He spoke like it was a situation that was still going on. It was still an unreal situation, made more so by his presence in the infirmary. He acted like next year there would again be no birthday. Oliver took the gift with a happy sniffle, and unwrapped the green sweater. When he unfolded it he noticed the decorations. "It's a dinosaur sweater!" He exclaimed with a laugh. He would have pulled it on if it weren't for the IV and oxygen monitor attached to his hand. "Thank you, m-my room gets really cold sometimes..."

The Thought That CountsMolly perked up at the mention of Finn. "Oh, good! I'm glad there's someone you can talk to about it!" She beamed, thinking nothing but the best of Finn. "I see!" Biology, huh? She briefly thought back to high school, learning about plants and what not before she shook her head to clear the thoughts. "Oh...gosh! It's nothing big, I swear!" She reached out to gently pat him on the shoulder, and beamed once more. "Let me know which ones are your favorites, and I can make more for you! Also...sorry about the three milks! I didn't know which one you liked best so I just bought one of each!"
