"Uh," Luxor looked around. He did not think this was a particularly youma filled area, but he supposed any area had that potential. It was not like he patrolled around here all the time.
He made sure the carnival was youma free.
"I don't really patrol around here very often, so I am not too sure. But if there are youma around here, we'll chase them out."
He offered her a very thin smile, though it was a profound accomplishment for him. He was very bad at showing emotion on his face, and it took a lot of training for him to be able to actually be this conversational. To get to a smile was incredible, and rare, and he was even surprised he had managed it.
"Thank you for the company, anyway. It's kind of difficult for me to work with other people sometimes..." Surprisingly, he knew.

Time to start thinking ahead and preparing herself for the life of a warrior. Amphitrite knew this would be a good time to plan ahead if they did find anything - so she leaned down and grabbed the first decent sized stick she saw, brandishing it proudly as she declared, "That's right! Time to kick some monster a**! C'mon youma, we got you! You want a piece of this?!"
Unsurprisingly, no one responded.
Amphitrite lost the surge of wanna-be battle aggression as quickly as it flared up (she was really trying here but she wasn't really prime action movie material yet) and turned back to Luxor, looking perplexed. "What? But, why? - is it because people get sympathy cold looking at you? Because that's not cool at all - I wasn't trying to make a pun but it happened I'm so sorry."

Luxor stared at her quietly for a long moment, not sure if she really meant her question or if she was just teasing him. It was pretty clear to him, and most others, why he was not the best company. But maybe he had made more progress than he was aware of.
But probably not.
"No, not because of my outfit. Just... I guess I have a hard time talking, normally."
He had been working hard on being a bit more out going but the progress was slow. Really, everything he had managed to do so far was because Zia was much better at being sociable than he was, and she was rubbing off on him a bit. He sighed, shaking his head and then trying to shrug the worry off.
"In any case, the next time you want to patrol, I would be more than willing to join you. It's getting a little... well, I should probably get back to the Carnival." Now that he was thinking about Zia, he wanted to check up on her.

What was the big deal with being quiet? Didn't anyone go for the strong, silent type anymore? People could be so needy, she thought to herself with a slight wrinkling of her nose and --
Wait a second. "Carnival?" she echoed, her eyes widening, and she wasn't afraid to admit her jaw dropped a little. "Holy - do you work there or something? - sorry, I don't mean to hold you up, it's just - " He'd said the magic word about a carnival, could anyone blame her for getting a little excited? This guy, a carnival! Who would've thought? "If you're a sword swallower or something equally amazing, please please please let me come see your bit sometime? - is it that kind of carnival? - if it's not, can it be and can I come sometime?"

"I own it," he said, not minding the information share since she seemed trustworthy enough. And he knew that it was protected information, at least as far as others had told him.
Unless he gave away his identity willingly, he should be okay.
"I am the ringmaster there, and I've studied acrobatics. I also take care of the animals and run the day to day parts of the business, like the numbers and security. I built the place from the ground up." He did not sound like he was bragging about it, so much as sharing the facts as he knew them. Though inside, he was very proud of his carnival, and loved it as he would a child. Since he never had kids and doubted he ever would, it was as good as one.
"But you are more than welcome to come and visit any time. We've become a permanent fixture now, rather than a roaming one, with rotating shows and attractions, as well as things like rides and games."
He was aware that he was doing some shameless advertising but... she did ask, so it was fair.

For a long moment, Amphitrite just stood there and let herself digest every ounce of what exactly he was telling her. She took a deep breath and held up a gloved hand as she started with, "I'm sorry, but I warned you already I talk a lot, so just bear me with me oh my god you have animals??" Maybe it ended a decimal higher than it had started. Sorry not sorry, but she'd inherited her father's love for animals big and small and there were other exciting things too but, but animals.
"What kinds of animals? Do you feed lions? Please tell me you have lions. And tigers. And bears. See what I did there? I'm sorry, that was actually really lame, ugh my dad would say something like that - but if I come can I see the lions? Do they have names? Is one Leo? Please tell me you're more creative than Leo - do you have wolves??"
Time to pause and breathe. Then time to go on, "Also, please tell me you have cotton candy and your games aren't rigged and what's it like being a ring master and - oh my god, wait, " she gasped, leaning forward onto the balls of her feet, voice dropping to a whisper as she asked, "Is this like... the kind of carnival where I could run away and join the carnival? Not like I'm saying I'm running away, but could I?"
Lithiasaur I'm really sorry, at least you know someone shuts her up later? xd

"We've had to get a few new animals, but yes. We have lions, and tigers." He paused, realizing what he was walking into and shifting gears. "A bear, too."
He shook his head, unable to keep up with all the words. He thought he had been getting better at keeping up with busy conversation, but this was getting the better of him and his brain was shutting down.
"We have all of that. Cotton candy and things. But we hire professionals and go through the same hiring process as any other professional business. So I would not suggest trying to run away to any Carnival, really."
Of course, he was a big softie, so if someone did run to his carnival, they would probably be in a good place.

"Right, got it, " Amphitrite deliberately, and boldly, winking, leaning forward to jab him playfully in the side with an elbow. "Don't run away to the Carnival." Wink wink, nudge nudge. Just for good measure in case he didn't think she'd gotten it. "Don't run away to the Carnival, totally get what you mean, all clear my friend."
Good back-up plan in case things at home really got to be too much. Nazca would probably try and talk her out of it, of course, but it was just good to keep her options open! "Anyway, you better get back to your Carnival - which sounds like the coolest place ever and I hope there's a senshi discount because I am so there. We should do this again soon! I mean, the patrolling, training, space visiting thing, if you're really okay with that."

Luxor watched her stiffly, not sure she really understood his words as well as she was pretending. Did she get something in her eye? He did not look amused or aware of what she was trying to tell him, staring at her blandly, eyebrows furrow in his usual look of grumpiness.
He was not feeling particularly grumpy, that was just his face.
Well, hopefully she would at least not be running away to the carnival any time soon, if her assurances meant anything. He got the feeling that they did not, but he was not going to push the subject.
He did offer her his hand, though, nodding his head.
"Come by and visit any time. I'll make good on my promises, and do what I can to help you. Have a good night."

Amphitrite took the offered hand and gave it a firm shake, flashing him one last smile. "A pleasure, Luxor - and you better, I won't forget, " she teased, saluting him playfully as she broke away, her hand dropping limply at her side. "Stay toasty, okay?"
She turned and began to head towards home - and hoped he really had meant what he said. She hoped she hadn't annoyed him too much. She hoped a lot of things.
It was almost a new year - things were looking up, right?
