Yes, alright, he had to admit to being happy when she made straight for him.

Bereck smiled back and returned the tight hug, it was good to still be important to her even now she had grown up and joined a wing. "Much better for a rest and a bath thank you. Are you enjoying yourself then? I must say you look rather fine this evening." She was his girl so he always thought she looked lovely (unless she was blatantly scruffy but even scruffy she was lovely really, just in need of straightening up) but she had obviously made an effort for the celebrations with her sweetly embroidered tunic and he did try to remember to note these things aloud.

Aorta was rather more mellow than her offspring and only hung on a big tighter to Bereck's shoulders as the two humans greeted one another. When the pair parted she chirred reassuringly at Aurata and nosed at Bereck's ear; everyone was together and that was excellent.

When it came down to clothing, Jemi hadn’t owned much. She had outgrown what she had left home with, and recycled it into her patchwork coat for warmth. She had uniforms but they were candidate uniforms and she wasn’t a candidate anymore. She did have something else but it felt wrong to wear it when Wen wasn’t about, considering it had been a gift.

She smoothed the dark rich brown linen tunic and hose. It had room for her shoulders and she could wear her candidate doublet with it and not look overly silly.

Lanceth replied, sprawled out along the bed. It wasn’t shiny, but it certainly was better than boring gray. Her eyes spun blue green in pleasure.

“You’re right.” Jemi donned the clothes, smoothing the silky length. It was just so pretty. She grinned slightly and looked over at her dragon. “You’ll outshine them all,” she said went to find Cai.

~------------------------------------------------------------------~
Lex loved to make a scene, hence his clothing tended to be bright shaded. He was partial jewel shades and if he could get away with wearing purple he would be stylish. He had brought his favorite garnet linen tunic, his ivory and fawn quilted doublet, and dark gray hose. He could go with time honor classic jet black, but ehh, he felt like the gray.

They had taken off all his fabulous if fizzy curls which kept him from wearing his favorite hat. He did love his tunnel snake skull hat. So instead he wore his favorite scarlet silk scarf, on his black tool leather belt, and included one of his tinier skull clips that kept his scarf in place.

A braided leather and scrimshaw fang necklace completed his outfit and he descended on the fest with a grin and his bronze flit following him at shoulder level, landing and giving a happy trill of greeting. While, yes. He was indeed the most handsome bronze flit ever, wasn’t he?

Poecai (P'cai) and Goliath

Goliath looked at the adult (???) blue with worried yellow eyes – the adult that was just about his own size. he asked Suuyeth, abashedly, tucking his big feet beneath him so that he could squash nothing.

“Its not bad...” Poecai whispered. She was, of course, aware of the silent communication between dragon and rider, but she supposed that such a thing would come with time.

Goliath thought for a moment, his eyes brightening to green, he said, willing to be happy.

Goliath turned to his brother. the blue said, confused. he explained, a worried flicker of yellow sparking along the facets of his eyes. There were all these smaller people and dragons around, and he was so big and sometimes where he placed his paw wasn't exactly where he wanted to place it, so he had to be careful... But, he brightened again. He was standing still, so he didn't have to worry about that now, and a party was at hand! he said to Catoth happily,

Poecai gave her big baby blue a reassuring rub. “It was the right thing to do...” said Poecai, deceptively offhand. Being thanked was nice, but she hadn't done much. “Hatchings are difficult, and I couldn't have let you go out there alone. Someone had to be there to pull you out of harms way...” she smiled up at Goliath, “But this was a nice hatching.”

And it had been.

“A very nice hatching.” she repeated. Aside from the girl's eye, no real terrible maimings. Mostly mischief and mayhem. As a hatching went, it was... peaceful.

“And congratulations to you!” said Poecai, a little belatedly, “You'rs is beautiful... Goliath says his name is Catoth... right?”

Goliath made a little happy sound, almost tripping over his considerately tucked limbs, and he meant exactly what he said.

“Well.” said Poecai, amused, “I'm guessing our dragons are now friends...”

“In time...” she said. Friends were not to be rushed. “Would you like to, ah, get something to eat?” she asked, “A toast of fruit juice, maybe, to a new life?” It was a little awkward, but the smile on Poe's face was genuine.

Valdene (V'den) and Suuyeth

Suuyeth saw a lot of potential in this clutch as the big brown came over to talk to the big blue. They would grow up to be big, beautiful males... excellent! The bigger the better, that was what the tiny blue thought. he reassured the big blue,

V'den finally managed to catch up to her agile blue, who had apparently inserted himself into the convrsation between two pairs of weyrlings. Wonderful. “Congratulations.” the time-rider said to Poecai and Qyprenna, “I apologize for Suuyeth. He was very excited to meet you.” nervously, she regarded the children. Shards, how long had it been since she had been a weyrling. Forever. she thought, Forever with a few centuries on top. She backed away, urging her dragon with her. “You should try the food.” she said lamely.

protested Suuyeth.

she admonished him,

Suuyeth's attention thus caught, he began to trot off after his rider. he chirped to the new-hatched dragons.

Sarai
Sarai was not going to miss a good feast, even if she was wearing a bit drab of a dress. It was plain good white wool, snug and supporting her assets. She needed to embroider it at some point, but she couldn’t decide on what shade of green she wanted. So many to choices and not enough time or funds. Instead she spent a bit of marks on a green ribbon and a pair of tiny coppery beads. Long enough to pull back her dark inky mane of hair and contain it, the beads dangling and adding pin points of brightness against a black backdrop.

It was plain and simple, but she matched her partner. She beamed, sailing in.

Ra’fe
Ra’fe wasn’t one that enjoyed festivals, the food yes, the crowd of people and the dancing? Not so much. Sarai had appeared like thread fall, dangerous and fiery and decided to drag him to talk to Vosin, and then decided that he should take her to the feast.

He had consented, this wasn’t his time of old anymore. He didn’t have to be stiff, or on guard, and he supported the hatchlings. So he had donned his new black hose, a white wool doublet, used his old hair tie as a wrist guard, and decided to leave off some of the weaponry and just keep to his boot knife and dirk that pressed against his back.

Everyone certainly seemed to be in high spirits.

Drudge Kialynka

The day had been a whirlwind. First breakfast had been dismally interrupted by the hatching, then the kitchens had gone into full swing production for the feast for way too many people, in Kia's opinion. She had had waterlogged hands for hours after from washing so many dishes, and tubers. Not to mention the numerous small cuts that stung from the tubers she'd had to peel. Stupid work better suited to someone else, but they wouldn't trust her with any of the real cooking.

When she wasn't doing that, then she was fetching wood for the fires, and seeing to the dogs turning the spits. The teen was grateful when it was all said and done and she finally got a chance to sit down, rest, and eat something. Mostly a soup, since they could eat at the feast after the others had eaten. All that food just sitting there waiting, and she couldn't snitch a bit. There was just too many eyes in the kitchens right then, though that didn't stop her from thinking about it.

After eating it was back to work. This time setting up the weyrbowl for the feast. Countless tables, chairs, and table cloths; she wondered were they all came from. Then bringing out the plates, platters, and bowls of savory foods. Kia stood near the beginning and ensured each guest that approached her table got a plate or bowl. When the dishes emptied she called for more.

Vosin and Tiaeth

It had been an eventful day. Vos was fairly pleased with the clutch results, and she bet the blue sire and his rider was too. Even better, all the hatchlings had been healthy and found their riders. That for her had been the most successful part. Now they could all relax and enjoy the feast and new riders. Vos had cleaned up, and put on some fresh clothes. Her bright red hair was braided back; two small braids starting at her temples swept back into the main braid of her hair, which was only braided half way down then left free. When the wine started to flow she'd drunk lightly, so she'd have some dignity during the feast, but then all bets would be off. So in high spirits, she arrived at the feast proper. The sound of lively tunes brought hope that she might find some energetic dance partners tonight.

Try not to get too boisterous Vosin. You wouldn't want to scare anyone. Tiaeth had settled himself with a good view of the festivities. He was looking forward to seeing if any of the weyrlings showed up.

Pish, if I scared them, then they need to learn how to have fun. Given the time, she didn't think that would be much of a problem. If anything they were probably more relaxed in this time than they had been in her own. Vosin was determined to enjoy herself tonight. She hoped Keli could convince Ves to come too, and she hoped to see Esre mingling. Since she'd already started drinking, she wanted some munchies before she went any further. Vosin mosied her way through the crowds toward the food tables.

Well, isn't that a rather lonely looking and lovely lady. Sarai beamed at Ra'fe it was kind of him to come with her, but he really was no fun, and briskly started her way towards the red dressed figure by the wine. She certainly could use a cup and certainly it wouldn't hurt to walk to such a vivid and fun looking lady.

Sarai poured herself a drink and cocked her hip against the table, dress snug against her curves and gently inquired "Are you looking for someone, Handsome?"

"We should pay our respects to our guests, and then a dance would be lovely, I think," replied Shylla with a small nod of her head. Satisfaction looked good on C'tis's visage, and something about the added warmth to his personality was infectious, filling her heart with lighthearted bubbles as if she were still a giggly candidate. However dashing he was, though, Shylla was only looking to impress him politically. If all went according to plan, she'd be impressing another bluerider this evening as well.

Shylla took the end of her elegant train from her squire and dismissed him to the festivities, walking side-by-side with C'tis until they reached the High Table. She curtsied first to O'ail, her eyes lingering a bit on the woman, then to their other revered guests. "Lady Regent, Weyrleader, welcome to High Reaches," she greeted each in turn, her voice warm and vibrant. "I hope you are enjoying the festivities."

“Would you care for a dance?” Elane laid a hand on Ra’fe’s arm, seeing him by himself. The bronze rider did have a smile on her face, and to all appearances she wasn’t about to eat him like some praying mantis with her mate, but she was also dressed (as ever) to the absolute nines. She’d made a few small changes since the hatching - swapped out a few pieces of jewellery, redone her hair (now fully on display), and changed her kirtle. It was now a pale shade of blue that had become exceedingly popular - and fashionable - over the past few months, though whether she was tuned into the political meaning of it was up for debate. “I don’t think there’s hardly a body here who knows how to dance a Volt or a Pavan” The Volt, of course, being a dance which allowed the dancers to embrace rather closely. “The Brand is a little… countrified for my taste”

R’soua beamed, taking the praise as only her due, and released Bereck. “I am enjoying myself! How did you guess?” And why shouldn’t she be? Everything was coming up roses, as far as she was concerned.

Ra’fe didn’t stiffen but certainly spend a few seconds taking in Elane that had nothing to do with how she was dressed, he had seen it, but where possible weapons could be stashed. She certainly was low on the list of riders he cared to see or expected to care to be seen with him. He debated momentarily on the benefits of a dance oppose to rejection, he could hand her off so someone else considering a dance was timed by music.

He nodded finally, lips twitching a slight bit into a smile. “I am not overly fond of dancing, but I will keep from stepping on your toes, Elane.”

Cai was right outside in the barracks hallway when Jemi came to look for them, Laufeth standing regally at their side. They smiled when she came into sight. "Wen's tunic? He'll like that. Are you ready?"

Laufeth still wasn't sure about this 'Jemi' person and her relation to his Cai but that was one argument he knew better than to push. Cai had given their trust to this person and he was willing to reserve judgement till he was certain they deserved that privilege. His eyes whirled a slow, lazy, blue as he turned his attention to the green at her side. ~ Lanceth my dear. Are you looking forward to the festivities being held in our honor?~

“Thought I should look festive… it the only nice thing I have, since the last growth spurt.” Jemi played with the hem, self-conscious and flushing slightly. “Yeah, yeah… I’m ready as I ever am.” She looked over Cai and nodded. “You look good, but then, you always look good.”

Lanceth grinned brightly n her dreams, a flash of gold and warm flames. She flicked her tail, letting it brush against Laufeth’s in a teasing motion.

“I’m sure you will, my dear” Elane said brightly. The chances of the young woman carrying weapons at even the worst of times was negligible. She simply didn’t move in a world where that was a necessity. “Will you lead, being the manly bronze rider, out of the two of us?”

She knew he didn’t like her. She just didn’t particularly care.

Well hello! Re'ka looked Sarai up and down with a rather salacious grin. "Always! You're one of the timeriders, right?" There weren't so very many of them to keep in mind and Sarai was more memorable than most for rather obvious reasons, she and that female bronze rider who always dressed so well; mmmmmh.

"That sounds like an excellent plan," C'tis agreed as they turned together and made their way over to the high and mighty folk. The heir to Tillke Hold seemed thoroughly enthralled by O'ail's talk of action and derring-wozzit, a bit of a change from his shyness earlier on.

"Indeed so," C'tis chimed in after Shylla's greeting, throwing a formal salute to the two Weyrleaders and then offering a bow to the ladies and he supposed the boy by extension. "I am very glad that you were able to attend," he added as an afterthought, and the thought that came after the afterthought was 'and I hope the people who didn't bother to show up sorely regret it'.

Concinnity Blaise

"Psh, well there's the big grin on your face, that gave me a clue," Bereck replied to R'soua with a soft chuckle and a shake of his head. "I'm glad that all the hatchlings Impressed safely and we didn't have any major mishaps. The girl who got her face scratched by that green should be alright." There might well be some damage to the vision in her right eye but he was hopeful that it wouldn't prevent her from serving, though it might preclude joining a combat wing if it was significantly impaired.

Ra'fe gave the slightest hitch of a brow before escorting Elane to the dance floor, listening to the music to time the next dance. "I suppose so," he mused, recalling the dances during his time as 1st wing as much as he rather not.

The music rose, and he started the dance, though perhaps a more simple one the Elane desired.

~----------~

"Sarai, my girl is Vespeth. She's a b***h," Sarai replied, giving Rek'a a exaggerated wink and a grin. "Just wondering if a rider like yourself would be interested in a dance." She sipped her wine, waiting for an answer and smirked slightly at the cod piece.

"I love the way you accessorize." She murmured, not able to not say something about that piece of clothing.
