K'err asked himself.
"Of course," he said. "I just... I don't know. This wasn't what I expected when I came out here, you know? It makes more sense now that we're here like this, though."
The kiss to his head was a nice touch, and he nestled further against F'in.
"We've been doing all the exercises," he said. "Trying to find time to practice playing and singing together means having to stay pretty strictly in the schedule. We're excited to fly, but I guess we're taking a more subdued attitude. That rider, Carwyn, was right... it's hard to be more than one thing at once in these early stages. I can only imagine it was easier for her because her dragon wasn't also trying to squeeze in time to sing for herself."
He pursed his lips as F'in talked about home, concerned for his... partner? Mate? Nope. He stuffed that word away FAST. "Don't worry; I know things can be rough out there," he said, clenching at the fabric of F'in's tunic. "If you think it's best to go alone or say I'm a friend or something, then go ahead, okay? I won't be offended. You need to do what you need to do."
He's spent enough time dreaming about this that he had to remind himself it was actually happening, and also that it had never actually happened any of those times he'd dreamed about it! For something so fresh, it felt so familiar.
He lifted his head again to remind his lips of F'in's reality. He kissed F'in's cheek, then again, but closer to the other boy's lips. Yes, some more kisses were in order.

F'in chose to take K'err's comment as a compliment and grinned, glad to have impressed the other boy. A thoughtful sound answered K'err as he spoke of practice, "I can only imagine! I barely keep up as it is, with just my farmer's roots... You're not over working yourself are you?" He gave the other a stern look that dissolved into a smile.
"I'm not sure yet. I dislike lying, especially to my family, but I'd rather not get in trouble either. I mean, they know the Wherhold is different sure, but..." He trailed off with puff of his cheeks. It wasn't something he'd considered seriously as of yet.
The kiss on his cheek drew his attention away from the uncertain thoughts and the second held it. He answered it, kissing K'err on the lips with a sort of glee he hadn't expected. This not only felt good, it was fun too! He broke away to nuzzle the other's neck and kissed it lightly, playfully.
"You smell good, did I say that yet?" He murmured, winking. He'd had plans for a hike, for movement and fun but all that had fallen by the wayside as he sat there, warm and confident... at ease.

"Oh, no, no," K'err said. "We're taking things by-the-books. Don't want to risk anything by overdoing it."
"But they don't know you're different," K'err said, attempting to finish the thought.
F'in's breath and tender lips on his neck made K'err's skin buzz... and his eyes flash wide open.
Sirinth's tail flicked.
K'err thought back. "M-maybe not there just yet?" he asked F'in with a smile and a bit of a laugh. "That was, uh... probably not the best while our dragons are so young." Shards, this is going to be a rough first couple months, he thought. "Besides," he took F'in's face in his hand and stared into his eyes, "there's enough up here to lose myself in."

F'in blinked as the other reacted to his kiss and grinned, rather enjoying that reaction but paused as K'err took his face in hand, meeting the youth's gaze. He smiled and nodded in agreement, "Indeed. So... Where are you going to go first when we're able to go Between and Fly? I bet you have a lot of tales to check out being a Harper and all..."
He kissed the fingers near his face as he straightened and leaned back. If he stayed close he would get distracted again.
Conroith lifted her head to peer at her rider.
F'in nodded and set his hand on the dragon's head, petting her.

K'err stretched his neck and briefly kissed F'in's lips again. "I'm not sure... I haven't really been anywhere else," he said. "Probably at least visit the Harper's Hall, just to see it. Visit the other Weyrs, if they'll have me, being a wherhold rider. I'm more worried about the situation here, really. It's so volatile... anything could happen and I want to do what I can to make it go right."
It was a less-intense but still-pleasant wave that the kiss to his fingers sent down his spine. Sirinth didn't prickle at it, either.
What she did prickle at was his subsequent trailing of his hand down F'in's neck after the other boy leaned back, down his strong chest, across the flat stomach and down onto his thigh. "You... are amazing, F'in," he said, his imagination removing the jacket, whatever shirt F'in was wearing... He was impatient to explore further, but not now. Not now. This would have to do. It was too early.
Sirinth said sternly.
he thought back. He took a deep breath and sighed, resting his hand on Sirinth to soothe her. "I want to get to know everything about you, F'in," he said. "I just... am not sure where to start. What did you do for fun on the farm?"

Conroith perked at the mention of easing the situation and warbled at K'err approvingly. F'in chuckled and nodded at his dragon, smoothing a hand over the dragon's head. "I want to help smooth things over here too, there's too little thought paid to the ones that can't fight back. They're getting bowled over by everyone..." He sighed. The other's question drew him out of his reverie and he blinked, "Ah, ahm... I would go hiking, wander the fields... climb trees, that sort of thing." He shrugged, "It's so nice to watch the sun set over the hills or to walk around the spice fields when they're in bloom. I'd like to show you some time."

K'err smiled as F'in's words sparked his imagination. Sirinth cooed, and K'err scritched behind her ridges and ran his hand along her slender back. For the first time, the pair actively wanted to fly. "I'd like to see it, all of it," K'err said. "I haven't gotten out of the weyrhold much. I think that's why I delved so deep into music; after you've seen all there is to see, there's nowhere else left to go, really." Sirinth urged, nuzzling K'err's leg. K'err thought back to her. He brought his lute back around and strummed it idly.
"Forests... just the idea of being completely away from other people..." he mused, trailing off. Or just the two of them, sometime. Anytime. "It sounds lovely."

"Yeah, that would be really nice..." F'in nodded, smiling softly as he imagined trekking through the woods on a snowy day or cliff jumping into a lake in the middle of the hot season. "When we can fly I want to explore with you, K'err." The youth grinned and spread his hand as he gestured at the whole of the sky, imagining the places and people they'd meet. Conroith rose and padded over to playfully flop on her sister, gently gnawing on a headknob, her tail swishing happily.
