I blame you for all of Shaka and his singing! I keep using it in solos/prps XD Guess he's an amateur singer.... or will be XD Also having fun making up random songs XD

Given an inch, Mynshaka went a mile; since the Bushi was letting him pet it, he decided it was tame... So when he switched to a new song, he hopped on its back, sitting perched upon the shell with a grin on his face.
"A fire burns in me,
matching the fire burning above,
lighting the sea,
filling the sky.
Flame of love dresses the sky,
The sea reflects her beauty wide."

He broke of the song for a bit with a saucy grin; "Look Vody! It's totally tame!" He quickly went back to singing when that rounded head turned to look at him with large pale blue eyes. He didn't want to have it bite him... so he went back to singing.
"A love of sky,
a love of sea,
Ubeli'ae blesses those,
who sail her ocean wide,
beneath the burning skies."

he just seems like the type to sing! xD big and bold.

“What are you doing!?” Vodyanoi squealed, almost falling over laughing. One moment Shaka had been cautious approaching the Bushi… the next, he was sitting right on top of his shell! The creature turned it’s head to look at him, and for a second he wondered if it might throw him off.

If it had any such plans, though, it was taking it’s sweet time about getting to them, though. For now it seemed satisfied with this interesting turn of events, at the very least as long as Shaka kept singing (and speaking of which, Vodyanoi quite liked this new song as well).

“I think it likes you!” He giggled. “I hope it does!”

Shaka gave a thumbs up to Vodyanoi as he held out the other hand for the bushi to smell. He was hoping that it didn't bite.... the hand was large eough to be a snack for it after all! And they eat fish.. so it could potentially eat my hand, he thought; not a good thing!

"We should get some fish to feed it." He said after he finished one song and took a breath. The bushi's tail thumped slightly and it eyed him, but otherwise made no move towards his offered hand

"Guess ye don't want pets?" He asked it softly before tossing a grin at Vodanyoi. "Ah think it does! Or at least it dinna dislike me... Think Ah can take it home with me?" Not to eat but... Bushi could be used as mounts or as a pack animal right? Slow as they apparently were it could help about the place right?

Seeing that the big creature was making no move to run away, even though the song had stopped (and Shaka was swinging about on it’s shell), Vodyanoi decided to get a closer look himself. He picked himself up off the sand and walked slowly towards it, doing his best to look casual and non-threatening. How did one go about looking casual to a Bushi, anyway?

He seemed to do alright, all things considered, and ended up near the animal’s side. It turned it’s head to look at him for a short while, just long enough to check out the source of all the loud sounds and glittering jewelry.

“Bet it would come home with you if you fed it.” Vodyanoi grinned (well, to be fair, he would come home with Shaka if there was food involved, because he was perpetually hungry these days and ill-equipped to do his own fishing). “It seems kinda tame. Most’a the others I’ve seen run right off. Or, well, waddle off, I guess. But what are you gonna do with it? Will it even… fit in your house?”

He giggled at that -- but it was sort of true! Some of the local huts were fairly tiny, from what he’d seen.

"Hmmm... think it'll wait here iffn ye sing to it and Ah go fishing?" He eyed the sea; he'd fished on his way here so he knew how.. though honestly it was more of a 'wrestle the fish to the shore' kind of deal than fishing.

He looked at it. "Is small enough... but ahh.. iffn Ah recall right the house is real tiny so... probably leave it outside? Make a ... lean to for it?" He hadn't quite thought of what to do with it... he just wanted to keep it! How to feed it.. keep it housed... that he hadn't thought about at all! Or if it'd follow him. He was quite willing to sing his way home if that kept it following him! "Ah was thinking... well.. hadn't thought really what to do with it.. but it's strong looking so be easy to have it carry stuff like logs or.. me..."

“I’m sure it doesn’t really need a house?” He prentice shrugged. “I mean, it’s kind of already got one.” A bushi’s shell was probably tougher than most of the lightly-built Matori houses, anyway -- Vodyanoi had seen the shell used for all sorts of things, even as armor for warriors! If Vodyanoi could get by without a house most days, surely this sturdy creature could too. On the other hand, he thought maybe Shaka was onto something, what with getting the animal to carry cargo and things like that (although if he was entirely honest, it looks quite silly as a mount).

“Well, you go get some fish anyway. Maybe it’ll follow you home if you feed it? I don’t think it likes being lead around on a leash.” He pointed to the bit of leather Shaka had noticed earlier. It looked to him like maybe it had once had a tether, but the end was stretched and torn.

“I’ll do my best to keep it here, but I can’t make any guarantees. I’m not exactly a beast wrangler.”

At the very least, this one did seem at least partially tame. Vodyanoi sat beside it and watched the other water earthling jog towards the water. The bushi moved a little, starting to crawl off in the sand.

“No, don’t go -- Shaka’s going to get you some fish! Ok, ok. Here, I’ve got another song.”

Again he picked up his hands to clap a rolling rhythm, joining in with his voice after a few beats.

“The wind is here, howling at my door,
knocking, knocking, like a stranger at the door
I go to the door and I open it wide,
The fury of the storm I let inside.

Who, who, who are you stranger?
Where, where, where do you go?

I am Drach’ti, lord of storms
I bring thunder, rain and fog
If I please, I will flood away all,
If I please, I will dry you to the bone.

Drach’ti, Drach’ti, lord of thunder
Drarc’ti, Drach’ti, standing in my door

What can I give you, what can I offer
What gift may I lay at your feet,
What will please you to leave my house standing
What will gentle your rage on the land?

Take my treasures, take my money,
Take them, Drach’ti, my peaceful home I treasure more.”

Mynshaka hopped off the beasts shell (a nice comfy spot surprisingly!) and dashed off to the sea.
He heard Vodaynoi's voice pick up into a song and smiled. He had a real nice voice! Hopefully it was the type that would make his new bushi stay long enough for him to fetch fish! Good song too.. I ought to remember that one....

Mynshaka had no net nor spear with which to fish... all he had were his hands. So instead of waiting in the shallows of the beach, he swam out into the sea, heading for deeper waters where he'd seen fish jumping in the waves earlier. He paused a moment, looking around until he saw the flash of sun on scales nearby. Taking a deep breath, he dove under, swimming until he was below the fish... then he swam upwards, slowly approaching, hearding the fish by letting out small streams of bubbles until he felt his lungs burn from lack of air. Speeding up, he snagged two fish.. one in each hand as he fled to the surface.

He gasped as he broke through the water; lungs burning and heart pounding, the fish in his hands frantically flailing about; trying to break his grip. But Shaka had been doing heavy labor all his time as a slave; his hands were broad and strong. Slippery they may be, he simply crushed them slowly in a vice like grip as he paddled back to the shore.

He was sopping wet as he wadded ashore, the fishes flailing slowing down as they finally stared to die.

"Got two! One fer us, one fer it!"
He called out to Vodyanoi.

Vodyanoi was so focused on his song that he had not noticed what his new friend was doing in the water -- nevertheless, when Shaka returned in a relatively short while holding a wiggling silvery fish in each fist, the prentice was suitably impressed.

Impressed, and hungry.

Fortunately, he was starting to learn one or two things about life in Matori... and cooking fish was one of them. While the bushi seemed happy to eat his fish raw, Vodyanoi found a sheltered spot for a small fire, and picked some

The bushi seemed content to eat his fish raw, but Vodyanoi looked around for a sheltered spot to start a small fire. When the driftwood they had gathered had turned to coal, they wrapped the remaining fish up in a big waxy leaf, along with a couple of herbs fresh for seasoning. They let this bundle lie on the firepit for a while, wedged up between two smooth rocks, and chatted about the things they had seen on their return to Matori.

It was nearing dusk when they finished the last bits of fish, tender white flesh crumbling between their blue fingers. The wind had picked up a bit, but after tossing a few more bits of wood on the fire it was warm enough to sleep by -- and so they did, with a content bushi standing sentinel.
