Horace bristled noticeably. "Just because they originated in the medieval era does not mean they do not keep abreast of modern medicine." The Doctor had studied both human and other anatomy, and she retained a good portion of her knowledge there, if not her memory. He yelped in pain as the staff hit his shoulder, the impact jarring all the way down to his fingertips. he said, twisting his fingers experimentally. Horace moved in close again, delivering a sharp jab (using only one arm, thanks, Matt) to Matt's midsection. This time, he tried to stay close, crowding towards the other hunter on the assumption that it'd be harder for Matt to use his staff then.

Matt gave the hunter a grin as a pain ached across his scared chest, “I am not entirely sure why you care if they have good knowledgeable doctors or not, isn’t the whole point is to defeat them? Or are we a little soft in our position against them? Having a little doubt?” Didn’t matter if they new modern medicine or not, the whole word “plague” should have given the hint that they were nothing more than archaic monsters. Not to mention would good would modern medicine do for such beings? They were not humans; they were composed entirely of a different matter so wouldn’t they have their so-called medical understanding. As Horace’s punched knocked some of the air out of his lungs again Matt grunted “Not bad.” He was losing one or two more hits from Horace’s fist and he would be out of the spar. s**t, tho losing was not a surprise for him it was almost like an expectation at this point. Focusing on Horace’s injured shoulder Matt let the handle of the spear scrap past his opponent’s ear before grabbing at his shoulder and lunging his bent knee forward into Horace’s midsection. "You misunderstand. I only care if my Doctor is knowledgeable. And she is. In fact, she has begun a litany of where best I might hit you so that she might feel your blood and discover your nature through it." His grin was less than friendly, a sort of baring-of-teeth at the insult to himself. Because his weapon was a part of himself, now. Bonded, even as her acid-honey voice ate into his every mistake. For a man intent on using mostly his staff, the switch to hand-tohand was unexpected. Surprised flickering briefly across Horace's face. The breath left him in one giant whoosh, teeth clicking together painfully on his tongue. A droplet on blood landed on Matt's leg and Horace took a little perverse pleasure in that. Both hands latched under the other hunter's knee, his shoulder screaming in protest. He twisted his whole torso to the left in a great, heaving motion. Time to try to ground the butterfly. “I guess that’s one benefit over a fairy princess.” He eyed the grin, the one that look as filled with annoyance and dislike for him. He laughed if only for a moment before noticing the blood he dripped on his dark pants. Annoyance flickered on his face, distracting him from Horace’s movements on his knee. Matt groaned as he landed flat on his back looking up at the sky, a dull pained ached along his head. There was a moment of completely dazed and confusion on his face as if completely unsure of what had just happened as a gasp of air tried to fill his lungs again. Coughing he rolled to his side reaching over for his staff, leaving himself open as his throat was unsure if it was choking or gasping at air. Matt went down and, suddenly, Horace went down with him. This was unplanned. He tried not to land too violently on the other hunter, but the best laid plans of Horace often went awry. It seemed as though, in the split second of falling, his entire body had morphed into elbows and knees designed to poke into all of Matt's fleshy bits. The spectacular fall concluded with a knock, head-to-head. He groaned and kind of flopped a bit, half on Matt, half off. "You have a fairy?" He asked, incredulously. HP: 9/40 DMG: 3 CHG: 3/3

Still coughing and unaware of Horace’s falling body until every elbow jutting bone dug into his body. Matt’s mind completely confused by the sudden additional weight as every soft fleshy part of his body screamed in pain his head echoing from Horace’s thick skull smashing into it. “OH GOD YOUR HEAVY,” Matt remarked as he remained motionless there for a minute looking at the sky still rather dazed to what had just happened. Another second passed by before Matt shuffled and scrambling himself away throwing whatever not limb was his off of him. Still sitting on the ground Matt rose one leg above and brought the heel of his shoe and its weight into Horace’s side before crawling over and landing an extra punch into his midsection just incase. “What the oversized twinkling butterfly wand didn’t give it away? She’s a Slavic wind fairy to be exact, something called a Vila, Veela, something along the lines of that.” Matt retorted with hint of annoyance in his voice. s**t. Matt was much more vicious when he wasn't weilding his staff. He groaned and latched onto Matt's leg, dragging his tekko down it. The sound of tearing fabric was music to his ears. Then, for good, measure, he punched him in the ankle too. It was weak, but it was better than nothing. "For all I know," he wheezed. "You just like fairy s**t. Don't remember exactly what a veela is like, though." HP: 3/40 DMG: 2 CHG: 3/3

“b*****d,” Matt groaned as he heard the fabric on his pants tear from Horace’s weapon, it was going to be impossible for him to repair or stitch back together. Another pair ruined why was he bothering on wearing any decent clothes anyways? Flopping back on the ground looking back up at the sky, Matt’s ankle giving a little sting as Horace smacked it for good measure. “I don’t really care for fairies personally,” Matt snorted at Horace’s theory, “but Veelas are suppose to be something really beautiful that have ability to control storms and lure men to their deaths and like to float around. You know, typical fairy things.” HP: 0/40 Damage: 0 Target: Horace Charge: 3/3

Horace watched interestedly as Matt's weapon disappeared. Ah, shield must be popped. Smiling, he de-summoned Dr. Jannnisari, creakily getting to his feet. With a loud pop, his neck cracked. Horace was going to feel damn stiff for a while. Leaning down, he reached out a hand. "Need a hand up or do you wanna just lay there?" A lock of hair fell across his face and he pushed it back. "Would you say your veela lured you too, then?"

Matt winced as he heard Horace’s neck pop, it would be a little while before the hunter would get rid of the stiffness unless he took it a little easy. Matt doubted it tho most didn't listen to the advice of a little RNR, let alone listen to what he had to say anyway. Stretching his fingers and wiggling his toes for a moment Matt could feel every ache in his body groan. His knee still trembled with a dull ache as he ran his his longe along his teeth trying to check that all of them where still there As Horace offered him a hand smiling and all Matt groaned a little and reached for it. "Thanks, if I don't start moving now I am not likely to get up any time soon." Everything in his body screamed in rejection as he got to his feet, looking over the state of his clothes he just shook his head. "I don't know if lured is the word more like claimed and unwilling to share would be more of Kasi’s style."

"Yeah, but spars give such a good ache, don't they? Makes me wish I'd been more into sports before the island, though." Once Mat was pulled up, he let go and began beating bits of dirt and grass off of his pants. Horace barked out a laugh at Matt's descriptionof his weapon. "I don't think Dr. Jannisari is terrible possessive. But we get on alright." Sort of. He checked his phone. "s**t. I gotta run. Got K.P. Anyway, maybe we can spar again sometime." And with a wave, Horace was loping off, moving stiffly but quickly towards the cafeteria.
