Caramell let out a soft squeal when she saw the cat, wanting to reach out and pet it, but decided against it. Cats were funny creatures, and weren't afraid to let it be known if they didn't want some stranger touching them. So instead she sat back and dug around for a pencil and a very worn down eraser that looked like it might once have been in the shape of a bird.
"Yes, nice and dry. And its lovely, its perfect for you and Mochi! Which by the way is such an awesome name. Its all animey." she giggled, nosing through several sheets of her notebook paper before she found two clean pieces and tore them out. She passed one over to Nutter Butter and kept the other one for herself.
"Drawing Mochi sounds like the best idea! Do you need a pencil too?" she asked, not sure if he kept things like that around. She of course, had plenty in her bag and stuck her nose in only to come out with several pencils, a few colored pencils and some erasers for him to pick from if he wanted. She wasted no time, however, in sketching out the pretty blue kitty with really interesting markings.

The cat showed no reaction towards her squeal and closed its eyes as it yawned. He stretched once and laid down on his side on the table, staring at the phonies as he flicked his tail.
Peanut looked at what she was doing and tried to keep his cool. There was a lumpy eraser put down on the table and two sheets of paper. He was not sure what she meant by "animey" and just nodded as if he knew what she was saying.
"Y-Yes let's draw him." Of course, he never drew anything in his life before. What was a pencil? He sat there and stared, dumbfounded, not having a clue what to do. The filly was already scribbling a bit on the paper and he decided to copy whatever it was that she was doing. But he had to interrupt her first. "Umm... I think I n-need a pencil."

The little purple filly giggled, thinking that he was just being silly, or trying to be funny on purpose. "I put some there on the table! You can pick out anyone you like. Some of them are color pencils, so if you wanted to draw in blue, red, green or purple, you can pick those." she nodded to the pile of pencils she had laid down, pointing to each colored pencil in turn, then picked hers back up with her mouth by the eraser and began scribbling again.
It didn't bother her that the cat had moved, she was a quick sketcher anyways and just needed the basics down. She could fill in the rest later from her memory. So whenever the cat decided to change poses, she simply moved to a different part of her paper and sketched all over again, until she had several kitties sketched out all across her page as if it were some sort of story bored.
She tended to get so absorbed in her drawing that she failed to realize if the other foal had picked out a pencil for himself or was even drawing yet. She tore her gaze away from the pages and looked up at Nutter Butter, setting her pencil down and smiling. "Got anything yet?" she said, trying to peer at his piece of paper, eager to see his drawing.

He scratched his head out of nervousness. Her scent somehow lingered around the room, even if she didn't have any perfume on whatsoever. He was not sure how long he had just sat there staring at her before doing anything else.
Peanut flinched a little as she offered him a wide range of coloured pencils on the table. Did she see him stare? No. She just went right back to drawing on the piece of paper. The corner of his paper was all damp and wrinkly from resting his nervous hoof on it.
He peered over and decided to try and copy a pose from her paper since she was too focused on drawing. He made a big oval circle as part of the cat's body and drew a shaky smaller circle on top to symbolize Mochi's head. Then he went on to draw two eyes who were too far apart and whiskers that was as long as 2inches. The stripes covered up most of the cat's head and the nose was drawn too small. He had put in a lot of effort to colour in the drawing without colouring over the lines. When he saw her look up, he looked down at his paper trying to pretend he was busy colouring. He did a few quick strokes with the blue pencil in his mouth and looked up, meeting her gaze again.
Peanut felt himself blush a little and covered his paper with both his hooves. "Umm. You would b-be surprised how mine turned out," he told her. He felt like he did a great job. "L-Let me see yours first."

A wide grin spread over her muzzle as he said this. It amde her feel so happy to maybe have found someone who could draw just as good as her. The only other pony she had met was Ink and his tattoo shop, but as awesome as that was, it wasn't quite the same. "Oh? Well ok then, you can see mine first! But you have to promise to let me see yours after!" she smiled, scooting over her piece of paper.
All along the paper was several sketches of Mochi, first sitting, then sprawled out on the table. One of him sleeping, curled up tight in a ball. The other of him stalking a butterfly. The last one he was stretched out, lazing about, head high like he was so regal and majestic. The last few she had made up from her own memory of course, having seen plenty of cat poses, she naturally just altered them to fit Nutter's pretty kitty.
"So, tell me. What'cha think? Be honest now!" she smiled, chest puffed out proudly.

"I promise!" he replied to her quickly. His hooves still covering the paper and he moved in closer towards the filly, dragging his doodle across the table with him. "What did you draw?"
He prepared himself as she showed her paper to him. It was quite amazing to see her have drawn so many poses in such a short amount of time. There was even a little butterfly! He loved those. Every single drawing of Mochi was smashing.
Peanut opened his mouth and stammered. "Umm.. It.. It.. Umm. It is not as great as mine!" he told her jokingly. Of course hers were all beautiful but he didn't want to lose to her. He picked up his drawing and showed it to Caramell. His face hidden behind the piece of paper. "Jaw dropping, is it not?"

Caramell's smile faltered a little. Was he really better than her? Not that it really was a big deal if he was, she knew she wasn't the best but still.... .it kind of hurt just a bit. She thought, or she hoped, that he was only teasing that her drawings weren't as great as his, however the look on his face made her unsure. "I...oh...Um....." she blinked, staring at his drawing.
It was......how could she even describe it without unintentionally hurting his feelings?
Like he did hers?
Her first thought was to just out and say how it clearly wasn't better than hers and to call it awe-full and all sorts of mean things to make him feel just as bad as she did.... but she couldn't. She wasn't like that. And his drawing really wasn't that bad. He was a whole lot better than other people he saw, like her mother who could hardly draw a stick pony. "Its....its...um.....g-g-g..rrrreaaaaaaat..." she drawled, looking down at her hooves, trying to hide her shame beneath her mane.

Peanut laughed out loud at Caramell's comment. He put his paper down besides hers on the table so they both could compare what was drawn. "I know that you're lying C-Caramell. What d-do I know about drawing? I hope you know I was only joking w-when I told you yours wasn't as good as mine." He pointed at his odd drawing then at hers. "We both know that you d-draw amazing. Just look at this."
He shifted in his seat to face her with honest intentions. "S-sorry that I made you s-sad. What you can d-do with a pencil and p-paper is incredible." What he did know is that he has been less of a stutter-freak around her today.

His laugh startled her and she looked up wide eyed like a deer caught in headlights. Her large red eyes blinked a few times before she finally realized just what was going on.
Her body shook, like if she were cold and had the shakes, but she was just flooded with so much relief coupled with the fact that she felt utterly silly about how upset she got over a few quick sketches. "You just....looked so serious..... I thought.....Oh! " she paused, taking in a deep breath, feeling the need to just be open now that he was.
"To be honest.... I really wanted to tell you so many mean things because I felt bad....." she paused, looking ashamed of herself as she brushed bits of her mane out of her face. "You don't have to apologize for anything, I should apologize to you. I really do appreciate your honesty though.....and ya know.... you really aren't that bad. Honest truly I mean that." she said and smiled sheepishly, rubbing one hoof against the other.

This time, it was his turn to grin back at her. "If you want to slap me, I deserve it." He turned his left cheek towards her.
"M-my face has always been like this. Almost ex-expressionless." He looked down at her drawings again.
"Honestly, when I saw what you were doing, I wanted to crumple that piece of paper up and eat it. You know, to get rid of the evidence..."
Peanut kept looking down not wanting eye contact with her. At this point she will probably be really mad. "Really, if you want to slap," he said, patting his own face with his hoof, "just do it." He closed his eyes and actually waited for a slap to happen.

Caramell looked for a moment like she was contemplating his offer. It certainly sounded tempting and he probably deserved it on some level. The little filly reared back one hoof and made like she was about to slap him good and hard across the face.....
.... but stopped just short and gave him a gentle nudge to the shoulder instead. "Why would I do that? As much as I love my drawings, they aren't the most important things in life." she laughed, grinning nearly from ear to ear. "C'mon, I say lets draw more. Whatever we feel like. As silly or as not silly as we please! At least until the rain stops. Maybe we could even play a drawing game of some kind." she grinned, getting to her hooves and bouncing excitedly in place as she dove through her bags for more paper.

Peanut plopped over onto his side in relief as she ended up nudging his shoulder eventhough he totally deserved that slap but she did not give it.
He opened his mouth to answer her question but closed it again. Sometimes being silent helps a long way. He could hear the rain pitter-patter onto his rooftop.
"Okay!" he yelled out loud and pointed a playful hoof at Caramell, "I challenge you to draw as many things as you can think of until the rain has stopped. If you get bored later, w-we can play with Mochi."
Peanut smiled back, picked up a pencil in his mouth, and attempted to draw a picture of his new friend.
