Shaking his head he raised his arms in a placating fashion. "No, no do not worry about it, I need nothing from you but the satisfaction of helping you and Rin out. You woke me up once upon a time, its time for me to repay the favour."
He leaned back in his chair. "She really loves you,."

"I'm thankful that you can hear her and that you came to me to help."
He smiled, if not feeling a bit embarrassed he wasn't as useful to help Rin himself. To rely on a stranger to help him out with such a major problem in his life only made him feel less reliable or capable as a man.
"I'm glad, though I don't think I'll ever be able to live up to it." He admitted, and then smiled softly again.
"I forgot I woke you up. I think it was the name. Weren't you L....Lawr before?" He only remembered the man now that Jan brought it up. Melvin's list of awakening people from their pods was VERY short.

"You will live up to it. I don't expect to be working on this all on my own pardner. I am simply a medium, the intermediary, you are the one who will have to make the effort to reach her again. You will save her, not me, all I can do is guide you in the path."
Something about Lawr iced over momentarily at the name Lawr. "Nah nah man that ain't me. Jan. I'm Jan. I think the paperwork was wrong on that front, maybe it got mixed up." He handwaved it away. "Anyway, first things first, the focuses, if you would like to drop them off to room 110, that would be most ideal. I will try and get you a communication from her using those and we can go from there."

"Oh, well then. Jan, I will give you everything right after this shift. Um, will you be there? I don't want to drop off these things for anyone to take?"
He took out his phone. "I'd like your number too, if that is okay. That way you can contract me for whatever you need me to do. I've been spending all this time researching in whatever way I could help so I have plenty of time to spent. I can even skip lab work if necessary. I just need to make sure the greenhouse is maintained though." All his own work aside, Rin's greenhouse had to remain operational.
Their duty time was up, and he was already ready to head out and collect her things.
Be it the man's own certainty that things would work in their favor and progress would be made, or that Melvin's own skepticism about mediums was being pushed aside by his own instincts in feeling that the stump on Jan's arm gave him some credibility of being specially selected by Rin, but he felt that he had found the help he at least needed. It didn't come from a trusted friend, but that was the thing of it.
You could always make friends. New friends. Better friends.
"Thank you.....for all of this. I....I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't shown up." He managed. If Melvin was the hugging sort, he would have.
He wasn't though.

"Yes I will be there, do not worry." He had very few other places to be. "And my number is here." he handed over his phone, open to his number on the Deus system. "I will contact you as soon as I hear word from her and what you can do, there should be no reason for you to have to skip your laboratory work as yet, so do continue as normal."
He smiled. "Sometimes fate simply leads us the right way Melvin. True love, can indeed conquer all things."
