Wolfgang scanned the shore just to make sure there weren't any unsavory characters around. Seeing no one of note he flashed a grin at Natasha, "Sure! My family lives just through the tree line." Uh oh! he grimaced remembering his family. He wasn't supposed to be gone this long. He parents would be waking up soon. And his dad would be worried if he wasn't there. Of course his mom might cover for him, but it was hard to tell how long that would work for. He glanced over at Natasha again. Yeah, it would not be a good thing for his dad to see the little mer girl. He knew that Natasha was sweet and even a little unsure about things, but his dad would see more of those things that haunt him constantly. And this time the vision would be real. "Natasha, I'm really sorry, but I have to go soon. My folks are going to be waking up soon and I don't want them to have to come looking for me. Any idea where your papa could be? I'd like to see you two reunited before I take off, alrighty?"

"Your family?" Natasha chirped happily. "Can I meet them? I bet they're awfully nice, I mean, you're so nice and sweet and stuff that I bet they're nice and stuff too. But maybe you're right, maybe we should find papa first? I think he's probably down stream, he likes the bigger, freer areas - little pools like this are only for resting and relaxing, but Papa likes to keep moving..." Taking a little catch breath she dove back beneath the waters and swam towards one of the little streams that flowed from the pool towards what she figured was the sea, patiently expecting Wolfgang to follow along behind her.

"Wait -what?" Wolfgang breathed in deep and dived back under the water chasing after the little mer pony. "Natasha, are you sure it's this way?" he called. She seemed awfully certain for one so soon out of her shell, but what did he know. Maybe mer ponys were born with an inate sense of direction. Or maybe she was just crazy. With his family's luck he was willing to bet on the second on. He was willing to bet a lot on that second one actually, he'd make good money on it too. "Natasha, slow down!" he called against speeding after the mer. He was brought up short as a larger form loomed in front of him. Kelpi mer mix- and this guy did Not look friendly to boot. "Um, uh- Hi?" Wolfgang started weakly, but he made up for it, so he thought, with a timely flash of his fangs. They really weren't much compared to the kelpi's, but it was worth a shot.

Mal tilted his head and regarded the pair of young foals, "Now just where are you two off to in such a hurry?"

Natasha gasped and grinned. She would know that voice anywhere. That was the voice of adventure and of comfort. The voice filled with wisdom and kindness. "Papa!" she beamed and fearlessly swam forward to nuzzle her father, not the least bit deterred by the kelpi mer's razor sharp fins and even sharper set of teeth.

Wolfgang held his breath hoping his new found and perhaps too eager companion was not making a mistake. He was fast, but his small form didn't have any of the strength needed to protect her in this situation. So he was basically counting on a filly who had come out of her shell less than an hour ago to make the right choice in a life and death matter. Yeah, he was starting to understand why maybe he father's eyes bugged out the way they did...

Mal hid a half grin and looked at the filly sternly. "I suppose you're gonna tell me you're out of that shell I left down here a while back?"

"Yes, sir!" Natasha responded brightly in the affirmative swimming back a bit to get a better look at her papa. She giggled quietly when she heard something she probably shouldn't have, something about getting her hair from her mother's side of the family. But she wasn't worried, her father's look was one of pride and amusement. She was pretty darn amused by the situation herself. Her tentacles floated around her restlessly and she barely contained her excitement. "So when are you gonna introduce me to that uncle you kept telling me about?" she asked impatiently.

"Depends..." Mal drew out turning his attention back to the little orange ball that accompanied his daughter. "When are you gonna introduce me to your little friend here?"

Who's he calling little? Wolfgang frowned and then wondered when his mother learned to throw her voice all the way over into his head. That was weird. Although up into that point he had been really hoping that maybe, just maybe the kelip mer had forgotten about him. Well, at least it really did seem to be Natasha's father. That meant his job should have been about done. And he Really needed to get home soon. The last thing he needed was for his parents to start worrying about him. Actually, no - scratch that - what he really didn't need was for his father to come looking for him. Natasha's tentacles would have been alarming enough for the scared stallion, but her papa's sharp teeth along with her tentacles....well, the truth of the matter is he really liked having a father himself and didn't need the poor guy falling over from a heart attack.

"Oh, this is Wolfgang!" Natasha responded flipping around to land beside her friend. "He found me. I guess you could say he helped me come out of my shell," she giggled. "We've been exploring together! He helped me look around, we even checked out the surface!"

"Thank much," Mal said to the little foal, noticing his discomfort but not doing a whole lot to ease it. Still he was grateful someone was looking after Natasha. "I appreciate you keeping my girl out of trouble and all."

"Silly papa," Natasha said with an airy giggle, "I don't think I'll ever stay out of trouble. From your stories, you make it sound like too much fun! Especially the trouble that Uncle Zo gets into, so when did you say I'd get to meet him? Oh! And see his treasure collection - I always loved hearing about his treasure collection. I want to go and see it all. Now!" she wasn't being demanding so much as being excited, impatient - for all that she had known before this morning was darkness and the squishy inside of a shell. She was ready to head out into the world and see exactly what it had to offer her!

Wolfgang couldn't help but giggle a little himself. Natasha's father might have been the thing legends and nightmares are made of, but the filly herself might just prove too much to handle. He kinda wanted to watch how all that went down. "And after you're done seeing everything you'll come back this a way, right?" he asked his new friend.

Natasha gasped fearing she might have been neglectful towards her little guide and quickly responded, "Oh yes! Yes of course I will!" she nodded to reassure him of her determination. "Just as soon as I can, I'll be back and we can play again!" she chirped joyfully. "You will still be here, won't you? Please say you will! I don't know what I'd do if I lost my first friend after only a day...that would be, well that would be tragic!" she looked up to her father for reassurance and he offered her a nearly imperceptible nod.

"Well..." Mal drawled watching the pair. "I suppose he'll make an alright playmate for you, 'Tash." To be honest he was ecstatic. How much trouble could the little filly get into with a mini in tow? And every minute she spent with this fella was more time she Wasn't learning new things from her dear Uncle Zo, who Mal himself could barely manage on the best of days. "I suppose she'll be back for a play date sometime tomorrow..." he added and eyed the foal. "If you and your parents are up for it?" Coordinating play dates for his daughter and her friend on day one.... Mal took a moment to note what a strange new world it was that he had gotten himself into all of the sudden. Still, a strange tingly warmth in his gut every time he saw the girl grin made him think it might just be worth it.

"I think we can work something out," Wolfgang manged to reflect Natasha's infective grin. Little did the kelpimer know, Wolf's parents wouldn't have anything to do with it. Well... he reconsidered, maybe he could tell his mom. She'd be okay with all of it. Honestly she'd be trilled to see that he was getting out, taking chances, and making friends. His older sisters were fearless, a fact their mother was proud of, but they weren't really the best at socializing. They mostly kept to themselves, a point of varying concern for the rest of the family. Oh crap, he suddenly remembered the ever growing later hour and the fact that his father might just be looking for him right now. He had to get back and quick! The little foal could take on a lot for his size, but he didn't want to be the one to deal with his father after he caught sight of this pair. "Natasha, I will see you tomorrow - how about right noon? When the sun's up a little higher?" That way he would have plenty of time to make excuses to his father.

"Absolutely!" Natasha agreed with a nod of her head. "I can't wait! But now..." she wheeled back around to face her father. "Let's go exploring! I want to see everything - all the sights from all the stories you've told me! Let's go," she said impatiently starting to drag him along with her.

"Alright...alright," Mal agreed allowing himself to be dragged. He was a little annoyed to see out of the corner of his eye that the little foal seemed to be smirking at him. "Joke's on you kid," he muttered under his breath. Because he was going to be arranging lots of play dates for his little girl - it might just be the only way he was ever gonna sleep again.

Wolfgang hesitated for a moment to watch the pair start to swim away before bolting straight up out of the water. He was a foal on a mission: to reach his parents before the reached the water. Especially his father - he had to be quick to cut that stallion off. He would be awake be now...and certainly wondering where Wolf and his sister had gotten off to. As he leaped out to the shore, Wolf took a second to shake the water off from his coat and started barreling forward at lighting speed (for a mini foal out of water).

"Papa," Natasha started slowly as the pair swam towards open waters, away from the carefully guarded shallows that she had known all her short life. "What kept you anyways? I was expecting you to be there when I came out of my shell. But you weren't. Did something happen?" she asked with a curious earnest nature.

"Ah yes..." he said quickly. "About that..." he knew he had been a bit late. It wasn't any sort of intended neglect. Just another chance occurrence, of course involving his brother. Watching out for that stallion was practically a full time job and Mal had to admit now might not have been the Best time for a little filly in his life, but he wouldn't trade her for anything. However he did have to field that particular question, "You see honey, your uncle had himself in something of a spot..." called getting himself stuck in one of his own traps...again. Mal continued in a patient tone, "I had to make sure he was alright and that slowed me down a bit on getting to you. But I wasn't worried. I know you have a good head on your shoulders and I knew you would take care of yourself. Looks likes you made yourself a pretty nice friend at that."

Natasha thought back on Wolfgang and their brief time together and nodded. "Yep, I like Wolfgang! I think I'm going to keep him..." she looked up at her father as they swam along, silently noting that the waters were becoming cooler as they swam father from the little pool. "Do you think his parents would let me keep him?"

"Well I don't know about all that..." Mal said slowly, measuring out his words carefully. "But I think you should keep the little fellow as a friend, at least."
