Ta'ruk stared at her. “Well for the most part in Jauhar I was able to climb and avoid anything that might try to eat me, the food is easy enough to find. I’ve been to Tale briefly before and learned a few thing from watching animals.” Mella was looking at him like he was from another world. “It isn’t as hard as others would believe.” Though it was much quieter then he thought possible and being alone with his thoughts had not always been pleasant. “I guess I haven’t eaten a lot but I do alright.” It was too late though. Mella had abandoned her rag and was digging back through her bags again. Ta’ruk was half tempted to mutter something under his breath but thought it best not to. She meant well but really he was alright. His stomach decided it would be a good time to protest which made Ta’ruk decide that any protests he might have said would have been undermined so it was a good thing he kept his mouth shut.
Soon enough he found himself most dusted with sore but non bleeding scratches eating dinner while Mella was off in the brush somewhere nearby dusting herself off. He had offered to leave but she shushed him telling him that it was best to have someone watch her supplies and since he was here he would do the trick just fine. He was surprised she was so trusting until he saw her take a knife out of her pack and take it with her along with the rest of her clothes. She might be a painter but even she knew to defend herself. Ta’ruk was feeling more the fool every time he met someone. They all seemed to know what they wanted and how they were going to achieve it even if it was nothing but having fun and living. Telwren blinked lazily watching him making Ta’ruk shiver. The lizard was odd and disturbing no doubt about that.

Soon enough she had him sitting and eating properly. She had taken the time to change and clean herself up. Coming back finally feeling herself she finished cleaning up her supplies and setting things so she was ready to travel herself like normal. Telwren was in his customary place in her sash and she was running her fingers through her hair getting it in place while watching Ta’ruk. He still seemed pretty rough and needed a real bath, but at least cleaned up he didn’t look like such a sorry sight. “Might I ask what your plans are? It seems to me you don’t have any place to go and just wandering around the wild seems a bit silly.” He did seem a bit embarrassed about that. “Hey if you’d like you could travel with me until the next settlement.” She chuckled at the look on his face. “Don’t look so surprised if you don’t have any way of taking care of yourself. Following and learning from animals will only get you so far.” There was a reason prentices were taken care of and taught a trade. She didn’t know what Ta’ruk had been learning in Neued but if he wasn’t headed home then he really should be around others who could help look after him until he found his feet. Holding out her hand she gave him a warm and welcoming smile. “If you’d like we could start over, no embarrassing sights or sail scales attacks required.” That actually got a laugh out of him. Now she just needed a place to head. Eventually she was going to head home but first she should stop by Yera. It was the closest settlement and a great way to get transport to Sauti again. Once she could pick up the trade routes she was set.

He was stunned she was just going to take him with her? He was a perfect stranger, though she was telling the truth. He sighed hating feeling like a child but it was clear in this case refusing would make him just that. Petulant and rude besides that. Reaching out he took her hand and shook it amused that her grip was firm and strong. He didn’t know where she was headed by anywhere was better than just wandering aimlessly. “Sure. Ta’ruk. I’d be pleased to go with you Mella. Hopefully I won’t need a reintroduction to the sail scale attack pattern.” He rubbed a few of his new scabs very gingerly. He also mentally told himself he was going to keep an eye out for that little monster and keep well away from it. “Might I at least get a warning as to where we are headed?” He was rather curious if he was going to end up hiking across all of Tale since it had a fair amount of distance from its settlements. Though Jauhar was much the same it was a different world or so it felt like here. He would need a knife or something himself soon. Perhaps he could make one along the way out of the grasses. They seemed hard enough to cut so perhaps he could at least make an impromptu one out of them for now. Moreover he would have to find some way to help Mella for all she had done so far and what she was doing for him.
She seemed accepting to his answer since she had turned and started to walk. His silver eyes followed for a moment before he finally followed himself. The day was going to come to a close soon so he wondered why she didn’t want to camp next to the water. “Why not just camp where you were at? There was water and it wasn’t a bad spot?”

“We will be headed to Yera unless you want to change direction and head to Sol in Jauhar?” She glanced back and saw his head shake a no. “Yera is a good size and a stop for trading caravans. If you want to get a ride elsewhere it’s going to be the spot to stop. It’s also fairly got a very good healer who I happen to be rather fond of.” She blushed at the thought of Uquin and nibbled her lip. Uquin was likely still busy in Neued and its rebuilding but she didn’t want to mention that to Ta’ruk who had so recently lost his home. She glanced back again while moving around one of the candy colored grasses. The look on Ta’ruk’s face was priceless as he tried to glance at his scratches thinking he must have missed something. “No don’t worry. You don’t look that bad, just keep them clean and you should be fine. As for why we aren’t going to be camping out near the water, well after the first day you wake up starring at an aldabuck you will figure out that waking up to a surprise is not such a nice thing and all you can imagine is what if it had been a predator.” Wrinkling her face she felt a shiver race down the back of her spine. “So even though it’s going to be dark soon it’s best to get just a bit of distance between us and the water’s edge. Not too far to avoid a morning hunt if supplies are low, but thankfully I got an aldabuck a few days go so right now I think we will be set for quite a few days.” It was true she couldn’t travel as far as normal as weighed down as she was. She considered having Ta’ruk carry some, but the boy was under her care and she would feel bad just putting him to work.

Oh! Ta’ruk had just slept near trees because it made him feel safer coming from Jauhar he had never considered that sleeping near the water could be a risk. He didn’t even know what kind of creatures lived in Tale so it would be even worse for someone as inexperienced as he was. “Right.” He hiked along behind Mella for a time until darkness finally began to truly threaten them. It was then that Mella said she was going to set up camp. Interested to see how she did it when he was used to just burying himself in the sand. Mella set her bags down and dug out under the grasses forming a good sized niche. She spread a small blanket down on the sand and then made another one. This one was much smaller and she wedged her supplies in it after taking out a few other little things she placed in the first niche. She had a second blanket which she tossed to him. He starred confused until she gestured that he make a space and do as she had done. He starred at the grasses in the waning light. She really was going to sleep just below all those sharp … oh! It was like the water all over again. The natural crystallized grasses would cut away at any potential predator that got to close. There was also those water pods growing in the grasses if he was thirsty. He nodded understanding she was teaching him and helping him. He did as he had been shown by the time he was done Mella had scooted into her little niche and looked to be half asleep she had wrapped the blanket more around her in a small cocoon. He wondered if that was for rain. Deciding it was better safe than sorry he wrapped himself up as well.

Mella hopped Ta’ruk didn’t mind she didn’t dig out his sleeping place for the night she was just too tired to do so at the end of the day. It wasn’t long at all before she was blissfully asleep to the sounds of Ta’ruk digging in the sands. Tewren had snuggled himself in her arms and she was off in dreamland.
When she opened her eyes the next day it was to Telwren starring at her giving her a chirp every so often trying to wake her up gently. That was good. It meant he had likely gotten up and eaten something himself earlier. Hopefully hadn’t torn apart the packs to get to food again. Reaching up she scratched his head mumbling that he was a good boy. After he seemed content she wasn’t going to fall asleep on him he moved off to do something. Not caring what she wiggled out of her blanket niche and looked around. Nothing big and scary and there were still animal calls that could be heard this early in the morning so it must be safe out. Taking the time to stretch out her muscles she got ready for the day along with her morning routine of making sure she didn’t have any strange bites, answering nature’s call, cleaning up so she felt human again rather than a sandy mess, and finally digging around in her packs for something to eat. Nibbling on her aldabuck fair she took a look at Ta’ruk. He was sleeping and snoring softly. It was pretty amusing. He looked pretty worn out still. She decided to get everything ready then wake him up. She wondered when the last time he got a good night sleep was. Harvesting some pods with water she finished up her breakfast and gathered her supplies. Telwren was busy weaving in and out the openings in the grasses. She wondered what was going through the little sail scales head, but as long as he was safe and not causing trouble she supposed it was alright. Reaching down she poked Ta’ruk in the head a few time. “Good morning sleepy head. It’s about time we get on our way. If you wanna stay sleeping you might just have Telwren try and wake you up next.”

Myrsky, having been followed around by Dawn for the last few days, was wondering just what this large creature was... and how he could keep her safe. At least he thought it was a her... He was limited in what he knew about this flat land filled with small pouches of trees. Perhaps it is time I head into a town, he thought with disgust. He did not want to go into those tree places, not after watching those leaf men try to kill dawn! But he needed information! And finding a person out here was proving difficult.... As always, he set out in the early morning light, wanting to make a lot of distance before the heat of day. Today though, shortly after they set out, his scoria acted differently. Instead of following him around she would to and stare into the distance and take a few steps before stopping and returning to his side. "Is there something over there?" Myrsky wondered out loud as he ran a hand over the soft feathers of her long elegant neck. Might as well go check it out....

Ta’ruk opened his eye at the poke but they really widened at the threat of the lizard trying to waking him up. Scrabbling out of his little sleeping place he was embarrassed to hear Mella laugh. It wasn’t a cruel one but still the idea that she knew how scared he was of that little monster was shameful. Reaching down he grabbed the blanket quickly and shook it out. He offered it to her but watched as she shook her head. Instead he watched her wrap her blanket around in a way that it nearly formed another bag. She gestured for him to do the same. Trying to make his blanket do the same he had to get help from Mella. She didn’t scold him or chastise just moving and fixing what he had done wrong. He was grateful for it. “Thank you for helping me and all this.” He gestured to his new roll he was carrying. He didn’t know if he was going to keep it or only hold and use it while traveling with her but still the fact she was taking care of him was something.

Smiling softly she nodded. “It won’t be thick enough if you go somewhere like Zena but it will do for here and Tale and even Sauti if the need arises.” She didn’t tell him she didn’t want to keep carrying more things so outfitting him with some of her extras was beneficial to her as well. It was about that time she started to call out for Telwren wanting to get on the trail. “Telwren!” She didn’t see him in the grasses and started the morning hunt for her familiar. Shaking her head she wondered how long it would take to find him today. Hopefully he wasn’t causing too much mayhem. She didn’t see any stampeding aldabuck so that was a good sign. Ta’ruk was following behind her while she searched in the direction that Telwren had last been seen exploring in.
Telwren heard his food giver’s calls but wasn’t ready to head back just yet. Currently he was preening perched on some of the crystalline grasses and was quite comfortable.

Reoakee tasty lil lizard for diner >;D Dawn's merely trying to get it pinned (no damage what so ever.) Dawn, now that Myrsky was following her, sped up, her long legs covering quite a bit of ground as she charged off at something... Myrsky sighed and shook his head before trotting off after here. Just what was she so interested in? Dawn, her eyes on the odd little creature sunning itself, wanted to know what it was... and if it would make a good gift of food for her savior! She charged up and leaped at him, her foot outstretched to grab and pin.

Telwren hissed as something slammed down onto him and its massive weight broke the crystal grass it was on. Twisting and biting down Telwren began to go into attacking. Twisting he began to wriggle loose and planned to go for the assailants face and eyes as soon as he was free.
Mella heard what could only be described as a high keening wail and rushed in the direction of the noise. When she got there she could see a scorra who was holding and trying to pin Telwren! Rushing forward she didn’t even bother to draw her dagger. This was a scorra and they generally weren’t to hard to scare off. “Shoo! That’s not your dinner!” Instead of her dagger she swung her bag at the creature. She didn’t want to truly hurt it just scare it away and make it let go of her sail scale.

Ta’ruk who had never seen such a strange large creature was shocked and scared when Mella ran charging right at the beast. He looked around trying to find something to help Mella. He noticed then there was another there. Ta’ruk waved to the other and risked a helpless glance at Mella trying to get her sail scale back. The little beast was attacking the feathered beast even now. To be honest Ta’ruk was a bit more worried for the bird than the lizard.

Myrsky frowned when he saw Dawn pounce; she didn't eat meat so what was she up to? The frown turned into a full blown snarl when he saw a wind tribe girl charged at his Dawn. If there'd been a weapon drawn, he would have attacked. But it was only a bag... a bag that Dawn skipped around, her foot still pinning something hissing and wriggling. "Back off!" He shouted and sketched a rune on the ground to call forth a small strip of ice beneath the wind girl's feet. Dawn's foot did not leave the little menace, and while she tried to not hurt it it was biting her! And then there was a pale one trying to attack her! Perhaps she ought to flee....

Mella had barely herd the shout when ice was for some reason under her feet. Slipping back she lost her grip on her bag, which caused it to sail in the air and hit the scorra likely harder than when Mella had just been trying to scare the poor thing off. She heard a valiant screech as Telwren finally managed to wriggle free. Hissing loudly she saw that he flew up toward the scorra’s face. “Telwren!” She tried to get up and slipped cracking her knee loudly against the ice and letting out a soft cry of pain. She was surprised when a blanket ended up covering Telwren suddenly. She turned her head to see that Ta’ruk was no long carrying the blanket and was facing a stranger.

Ta’ruk wasn’t quite certain what had been done by the stranger but it was clear that ice didn’t just form out of nothing without a cause and he doubted Mella would have done so to herself. Instead he found himself tossing the blanket over the over zealous sail scale and spinning to face the stranger shouting enough loud enough that it shocked even himself. “Stop this. There is nothing gained if we continue like this.” Spinning back to Mella he marched over and offered her a hand up. She took it but she was looking up at him wide eyed and surprised. Ta’ruk didn’t want to say it but he was surprised at himself. He eyed the blanket that held the squirming sail scale. He was not picking that thing up.
