At this point, the rental Doduo decides to really be a pain in the butt. Slowing down to a mere walk, it stops to peck at the grass growing along the track, its free head hissing at Vortex when she tries to convince it to get moving.

Bob ruffled her Pidgey affectionately, which was pretty difficult to do considering she needed both arms to hold onto its small neck. The rest of her had been hanging in the air the entire time; sadly, her right foot had a tendency to flap more than her left one, meaning their course took them at a slight angle.

As Vortex silently bemoaned her luck at having picked what seemed to be the most cranky Doduo in the stables, the bird's heads suddenly snap up, narrowly missing hitting her with their beaks, looking behind it. They back forwards before the bird bursts into a startled run.

Revel took a look around as the doduo ran. She saw new racers. Whoops someone passed her while she had been distracted so she tried to urge it to go faster but it decided to slow down instead (14/30)

Jeo's mount gained speed, slowly passing a few other racers. The young woman had eyes only for the little green dog that was leading the pack.

Gripping the Pidgey tightly in the crook of one arm, Bob stretched out her other hand and, after grabbing the air, proceeded to move her fist back and forth. The motion was akin to that used to shift gears in a car; also, Bob was making "vroom vroom" sounds.

Vortex sighed as the Doduo once again began to slow down. They'd managed to outpace a few people, but whatever had startled it seems to have fallen behind as well, and it's started to return toward its lazy walking pace.

Rev spurs on her doduo again with promises of food, which seem to work as it catches up to a trainer riding a ... pidgey? .. poor bird, having to carry the weight of a person, being that small, Rev and her doduo run alongside the pidgey riding trainer for a while, neck and neck.
