Aandes had taken a while this night to analyze Rasali. He'd ridden around her corner of the lake in the recent week's past, and hadn't seen her. It drove him crazy -- hence, the invitation. She was the same little dumpling of a troll as ever, but... Older. His height had sprung significantly in the recent weeks (making dancing somewhat of a new experience with newly lanky legs to stand on), so she was still (laughably) under him. But, she was less playful now, and more driven. Rasali was focused on a victory that was his. Aandes' lips pulled into a semblance of a snarl when his face was obscured by a flourish.
They'd both grown since that fateful day after the earthquake disaster. And this second debacle was something that Aandes pointedly stayed out of. He'd predicted correctly the stirring of something sinister, and with a sigh of relief from the comfort of his hive he relished not taking sides. He wasn't stupid - there was something about the government's backpedaling that made him squirm.
"I'm glad you accepted my invitation," piped Aandes, gesturing for Rasali's hand in his. He decided to probe. "Have you visited Old Hemisect since Bloodfest?" Aandes twirled his partner.

Troll: Keionx Rutace Partner: Vremea Everai Keionx's feet did get impinged upon a little bit but, honestly, her feet had been through worse, even with the librarian's heels. Heels Keionx rather admired, though Beastdad would tell her it was unknightly to walk around in heels. Or wear them.
”There is no need to apologize, fair Vremea.” she said graciously, though she had to strain a little to dance with the much-taller troll, ”Art thou well?” she asked, ”In thy life.” she corrected quickly: Keionx didn't want to imply that Vremea looked unwell! In fact, she looked very good in her outfit tonight, and most anything she wore to be honest, a femininity that the young knight envied, in a good, completely pale way.
”I hath not lain mine eyes upon thee or thy books for some time...” she said, expertly leading them around the other dancers in a classical sort of waltz/tango/hybrid thing... which was amusing, because not only was she shorter than Vremea, but this was also the first time she had ever danced with someone who was not the reluctant Zariah or Beastdad - who literally had two left feet and was even taller.
It was true, though, that she hadn't been to the library in some time: Working on rebuilding Old Hemisect city and on helping the unfortunate lower blooded trolls to relocate - sometimes even building homes for them herself - took up a lot of her time. Current point total: 12+6

Her speech had always been somewhat strange to Vremea, but instead of bash it, Vremea enjoyed it. It felt like she was hearing Troll Shakespeare being read aloud, and anything related to books was always great. As her dress swayed around her knees, Vremea followed her partner, chuckling a little from the added 'fair' behind her name. She could get used to this. "I have been doing well, Miss Rutace, thank you for asking." Vremea responded, a pleasant smile sliding on her face as she avoided stepping on her young friends shoe.
As the younger female twirled her around and expertly lead her through the dances, Vremea adapted her movements to follow her steps. "Agreed. Too much has happened lately." she murmured, dimly remembering the war and instantly stopping her thought process. If she began to think of that... She would break down. No. She was fine. She was perfectly fine. Breathing in and out, the yellowblood calmed herself after stumbling a little, then recovered flawlessly. She remembered the ad for the OHC Recovery Center thing, but decided to steer clear from anything that had to do with the empire for now. She had attracted too much attention last time. This would be a good way to reintegrate herself.
Looking back toward Keionx, Vremea flashed a smile, realizing she had lost herself in her thoughts. "How have you been fairing, oh noble Keionx? How is your brother?" She responded, expression curious as she stayed attentive to the orangebloods steps— man, this kid can DANCE!

Aandes shuffled to keep time. Rasali was in the zone. As he waited for her response and busted a move, he scanned around the room for the other contestants. There was a tall, well-dressed lowblood with a short and... Eccentric looking younger troll. And... Dictys Glauci.
If he spun past Dictys later, Aandes would have to say hello. He hadn't seen the troll since eir disappointing showing at the gerbil race - another investment that Aandes successfully avoided failure in. Aandes smiled and felt a tug at his arm as Rasali yanked him around.
12 + 3 = 15!

[ Aandes had gotten taller, Rasali noticed from her close proximity. Her eye-level only reached his shoulder now. She would have felt more annoyed at the added difficulty in making eye-contact with this other troll, but the greenblood had grown straight up into something of a string bean. Rasali figured she could probably pick Aandes up--a technique she may have to try out later in the competition.
She was almost broken of her dance-centric thoughts by Aandes' talking. The twirl helped reorient herself in the moment, however. She considered her response thoughtfully. Memories of Old Hemisect were still a sore subject for her.
"Hmm, I have! Made a trip out this way a bit before construction started happening. Thought I'd take a look at things before they got completely overhauled." She answered smoothly. Aandes Lamode was not a rebel-friendly troll--at least under regular circumstances.
Rasali was both put-out and relieved at the sight of Aandes slipping his attention to the other trolls on the dance floor. She would rather not talk more about the Old Hemisect debacle, lies or otherwise, but he was still being quite rude. Rasali pulled Aandes around in a sweeping gesture. ]

Troll: Nervit Lafute
Partner: Skaeys Fallin
As the dance continued, Nervit led the other troll across th floor with suprising grace considering her earlier fall. Her dress was long enough to swirl and lfow without hindering her movement, and the sheen of her leggings made her deft footwork easily visible to the judges – it was just a shame about those clumpy footwear….aka her big boots. Still being used to wearing them, Nervit moved them across the floor and managed not to step on her partner’s feet as she dipped them carefully, bringing Skaeys down and back up successfully without even the hint of a horn knocking on the floor or the other being dropped or pulled up too forcefully. This brought a pleased flush to her cheeks and she smiled winningly at Skaeys before continuing the dance.
Not to say her dancing was perfect – she was still a child, and she’d only watched formal dancing before, not participated. Though she had done a lot of watching dancing as she served tea at tea dances quite a lot. She’d almost considered joining them as a dancer, but the monthly fee and the reduced income because she wouldn’t then be able to sell there had put her off. But oh how nervit loved the idea of dancing formally! This competition, open to everyone and not just registered dancers was her chance to SHINE!

To say that Skae was in awe of his partner was an understatement. The way she moved, to him, was grace incarnate. The way the light made her leggings shimmer and how her dress swirled about her legs kept drawing his attention. So much so that her attempts at leading him were wasted. His attention was more on her outfit and movements than on his own, and it...showed.
His face was heavily rusthued when he noticed just how poorly he was doing, and he mumbled an apology for making her look bad.

Troll: Keionx Rutace Partner: Vremea Everai Yes, much had happened. Keionx – despite evidence to the obvious opposite – was convinced it was for the better.
”I am gladdened by thy wellbeing!” said Keionx, genuinely pleased to hear it, ”By it, we are all, thusly richened!” She hoped that came out right. She meant to say that if Vremea was doing well, then everybody was doing well, or ought to be. Ah well, speaking the way she did had its awkward moments, but she enjoyed it.
”I fare well, and I trust mine brother does as well...” she said, moving her feet aside to make room for the teen's bigger feet even as her thoughts drifted to her 'princess', ”I hath been away from mine home for some time, performing deeds grand and adventures perilous.” she admitted, ”And thus hath not seen him in some time...” she brightened, ”But mine lusus brings me news of his safety, and I am gladdened by it.” She brought Vremea around in a fanciful little twirl, giving beastdad – the musclebeast beaming powerfully with pride – a little wave as they faced him before focusing on the dance. Keionx had noticed her partner was finding it awkward and – somehow – she was adapting fluidly to it, making Vremea look very good.
That was, after all, the point of leading.
”I hath been assisting those who findeth themselves without home or roof.” she said, proudly, ”It hath taken much of mine time, but with mine own two hands, I hath build hives that withstand the storms that wrack our world.” she beamed. Not that there were many storms in sheltered Chittentown, but the point was – she was getting good at building stuff. Current point total: 26+6

Aandes came back to focus on Rasali. He was doing fairly well, but it was time to heat up a little. He just hoped she could keep up.
"Ah! You were around during the building, then?" He purred. She pulled him around and his side contacted with hers. He twisted away with a hop. "Sounded like a mess. Good for you for helping clean up, as always," Aandes gave Rasali a wink for good measure and waited to read her expression - which, granted, was rather hard to do while dancing.

[ Rasali struggled to keep time with the music as she became distracted with thoughts of the Old Hemisect fighting. She couldn't quite verbalize why she'd bothered to come back to this god-forsaken city. Perhaps declining Aandes' offer would have come across as suspicious. Rasali certainly wasn't the type to turn down a dance party under normal circumstances. Aandes of all people would have been able to pick up on that. Ugh.
Rasali started at the realization she hadn't been paying attention, and nearly tripped in the process. She tried to cover it up with a little hop and a spin. "You know me!" Rasali replied with a forced chipperness. "Always happy to help. Civic duty and all that..." ]

Hearing Keionx's awkward wording made Vremea giggle a bit-- she understood what she meant, though, which made it all the better. Keionx sounded a bit doubtful with her words, but Vremea gave her a encouraging smile, as if saying, 'you sound great!' Normally, she would be against butchering the language, but the way Kei sounded was practically poetical.
As Vremea continued to listen, she began to focus more on the conversation and less on her own feet, fluid movements going stiff as she heard what Keionx had been doing for the last few nights. Actually, Vremea was quite impressed by her achievements. "It is great that he is alright. Is your lusus alright with being so far apart from your brother?" She asked, following her lead as well as she could, hoping she was at least making the other troll look good. "That sounds amazing, Keionx. How knightly of you." She responded, praising her, then blinking in realization.
"Storms? Wait, do you mean... Chittentown?" She asked, stumbling a little before regaining her balance and giving her an apologetic frown. She was totally messing this up! With a sigh, Vremea continued with her thought process. "Maybe if you pass by again, to help with building hives, you could stop by my hive. Not to repair, no. We could dress each other up." She said, actually slightly excited after saying this, putting more movement into her dancing. Well, actually, she could use the repairs for Yakmom's outside hive, but she wasn't willing to ask Keionx to do it-- it wouldn't be fair. She was a friend. That would've been taking advantage of her...

Nervit shook her head as Skaeys whispered an apology, hair cascading over her shoulder as she did so, and she took a second to poke the ponytails back behind her, unfortunately making her concentration on her feet vary, and fumble a little in her leading. Still, it wasn’t as bad as her earlier fall – she stayed on her feet and didn’t pull Skaeys over either, which was a good thing. A really good thing! Blushing again but this time because she’d stumbled rather than from pleasure at doing well, she spoke under her breath to her partner.
“It’s not as if I’m doing perfectly either ; anyway, we just need to try, right?”
And she smiled again at her partner, if not quite as winningly – with more a shy slant.
