Ripley watched Finn approach, his head tilting back as necessary to keep as much eye contact as he could. There was a small part of him that expected retaliation for the earlier punch, but he was fairly sure that was behind them, at least for the most part. Especially with the potential of their arrangement ending looming over head; even if he did decide to end it, at least he would have had one last time.

A finger curled into his shirt, and the tug that followed had Ripley unfolding his legs to stand, the motion easy and fluid as if he had expected it. Soon enough he was on his feet, his head tilting slightly to the side as he studied the other man, looking over the face that had annoyed the hell out of him the last week or so, and the one that was growing a bruise that still made him feel a little more than smug.

"Well?" He challenged, because he could.

While Finn was vain enough to worry over the bruise he was sure was forming across the bridge of his nose to the corner of his eye and below, he was also aware that Ripley had seen him worse, and if the way he reacted to the scarred part of his face was any indicator, the other man certainly didn't care, so niether should Finn.

When the other man stood Finn studied him for a time, just as Ripley did the same. He watched him c**k his head to the side, and his smirk widened at that single word posed as a question, or more likely, a challenge. It wasn't long before he was leaning in for a kiss, something he'd actually been missing the last little while, and it likely showed in the eagerness, the hungry passion placed behind it, his finger unhooking for his hand to slide down over fabric, index finger tracing along buttons before his other hand joined in and made quick work of what they could, gently carassing bare skin once it was revealed, ghosting over areas that were surely still sore.

One kiss, of course, turned to many as he went about his work, though some of those weren't always placed on lips, and he soon moved down Ripley's body as more of him was revealed, always in the back of his head keeping the fact that this could very well be their last time together in mind.

Might as well make it as unforgettable as possible.

-----

At some point he ended up on the bed, though they definitely hadn't started there and getting there had taken time. As usual, the room had begun to swelter with heat caused by both exertion and the islands climate. His breathing was heavy, but slowing, his eye closed, his heart still racing for a few moments longer. Fingers twisted and played with the tips of white hair in a familiar but almost lazy way, and he rolled over enough to place a light kiss on a pale shoulder before a low voice, slightly raspy, uttered out a single word to mirror the last of Ripley's.

"Well?"

Ripley couldn't help the small hesitation when he returned the first kiss. They had just discussed feelings, after all, and he had a very important decision to make. Though well within the guidelines of their agreement, he wasn't entirely sure that it was a good idea right now.

Though one kiss turned into many, and soon the hesitation fled, replaced by the same eager, hungry need. He really did miss this while he was in the infirmary...

+++

Despite everything that loomed over them, including their potential end, the familiarity of the routine that had developed post-sex was comforting. The way Finn toyed with his hair, and the way the bed shifted before he felt that kiss to his shoulder, all of it, as if nothing had changed. What he didn't realize, was that he had been doing the same thing; the back of one hand lazily grazed the stubble on Finn's jaw, starting near his ear. Once he was finished his hand slipped away, but that was where the familiarity ended; he just continued to lay there, staring at the ceiling.

"You make a convincing argument." He replied, his own voice raspy and tired as he continued to get his breathing under control. He was exhausted, and his mostly-healed injuries ached, but he was sated; even he had to admit that he missed all of this while he was in the infirmary. Reaching over he grabbed one of the wayward sheets to wipe his face, and shifted a little bit to free his foot from a fabric tangle. When he failed, he just laid right back down on his back, flopping into the sweaty, warm sheets.

"I can't return your feelings." He said after a long moment of silence, trying to put his thoughts together and trying to calm himself down at the same time. He would notice if Finn was gone, certainly. A very big portion of his life would be missing, and it would be much quieter, but he was sure that feeling would die down after a day or two. They always did; he equated it to a loss of routine, because that was the only way he could explain it to himself and have it make sense.

"You know that, right?"

Finn smirked, because he almost always smirked, especially when he thought something was amusing, even if only mildly so. He didn't move anymore than he had already done, however, only rolling over onto his side to prop his head up into his hand, to look down at the face of the man that he had not long ago confessed to having some amount of feelings for, not a lot, but enough to maybe cause problems between them, definitely enough that he thought it prudent to fill the other man in so that he could come to that decision himself.

And then he waited while Ripley took yet more time, just that little bit more, before speaking again. Maybe he hadn't had long enough to think it over. Maybe with the sex, he hadn't really been able to think at all. Maybe that had been Finn's intention...or maybe he just wanted one last go at Ripley's body in case it really was the last.

Mentally, he was completely prepared for that to be the case. He would be okay with it. He knew that they could probably go back to just being friends without a hitch. In fact, for the most part, their relationship hadn't changed at all except that well..they had a lot of sex now. Really, it should be easy and it would be easy.

But the longer they continued with this, he knew, the harder it might become. He was taking a chance here, a risk that he would normally never take, by letting Ripley decide the fate of their not-relationship-sortof-still-a-relationship. In a way, he wanted that decision to come now, right now, so that he could process it, and move on in whatever direction he needed to. In another, well....the longer the decision was put off, the more chances he would have for moments like this...

No, better to know now. Ripley had been given enough time. A single cold eye continued to rest on the other man, unblinking, and obviously waiting.

The answer came. Well, not really an answer, but the beginning of one. A single, delayed blink was the only response Ripley would receive for a short time while Finn mulled that particular question over. Of course, his first reaction was to retaliate against the entire idea of it. Can't return the feelings, as if he were completely incapable. How could he possibly know that? If it was true, however, than Finn actually envied him. He wished he could so easily avoid ever having feelings for anybody. He wanted to ask Ripley if he meant that in the never ever sort of sense, but he swallowed the question, clenched his teeth against it, his lips pursed as he continued to consider the question.

Finally he replied. "Do I strike you as somebody who requires you to feel something for me?" He asked, an eyebrow arching, his lips finally pulling up into a smirk again. "If you're worried that I'm going to push for you to..., I don't ******** know, be more attentive, care about me or my feelings, be somebody you're not, than you're a ******** idiot." Because Finn liked him how he was, plain and simple. He liked things how they were.

"I told you. I don't want anything to change....that included you as well as the arrangement." A half shrug of his shoulders accompanied the words.

"I'm not looking to add any new clauses for romantic gestures."

Care about me. Ripley frowned at the ceiling at that comment. It didn't sound right to him, somehow. Finn was and continued to be a friend, and since he recognized him as such, he imagined what he felt was something like feeling. Care was a feeling, right? God, was he ******** up; he didn't make sense to himself, and it was frustrating.

"I'd notice if you were gone." He corrected, partially in his own defense, as he continued to look at the ceiling instead of at Finn. It was easier for him to think when he wasn't focused on the face he knew so well, even without his glasses. What he didn't say, was that he'd not only notice, but he'd be greatly inconvenienced for a while as he tried to put his routine back together; he didn't say it because the last time they had a serious discussion, the word convenient had been spat at him like venom. He knew better now, and kept that part to himself until he could find a better way to word it.

Oddly though, it was nice to be called a <******** idiot. It implied everything was normal. It was also something of a comfort to be included in the nothing changes clause; because he was stubborn, and such a conscious change likely wouldn't come easy to him.

He took a moment to mull it over; he had asked for time, after all. The sex had distracted him from that, but it was a very welcome - and admittedly, very needed - distraction.

"If nothing else will change-" Because something had already changed, deep down. "-I don't see why we shouldn't keep it." He really didn't want to end the arrangement, but he certainly didn't want to have to deal with the muddled mess that came with legitimate feelings. In his head, he was taking a small gamble; preserving his routine with someone he trusted as much as he could possibly trust another human being, for the minute chance that one day, Finn will decide it wasn't enough. So far he had no reason to believe that he'd go back on his word; for all his annoying, seemingly reckless nature he did tend to keep his word. But there were times, however few and far between, where his temper flared and issues erupted. It didn't happen often, but it was a concern of his.

It was a fairly safe gamble, he figured, and it seemed to work best for everyone. Besides, he hadn't noticed too terrible of a change in the last little while, so clearly everything could function as he expected it to.

"Why ruin a good thing?" He decided, finally turning his head to look at the other man, able to picture every feature - and every imperfection - despite the blurry shape he was faced with.

"I would notice if a lot of people were gone, and you likely would too." He pointed out, still amused enough to continue smirking. Noticing and caring were two different things. Finn noticed many things that he didn't give any shits about whatsoever.

Ripley's next words caught his attention then and held it. It was an interesting start to whatever was coming, that if full of multiple possibilities but only one that stood out among the rest, and it was the one that he had bargained for but hadn't placed his own bets on, and when the sentence continued, Finn blinked again, his hand sliding down to the bed as he leaned back, taken by surprise though it didn't really register beyond those subtle movements.

But it seemed, that day, that Ripley was full of surprises. From the punch, to not turning him down immediately and consenting to more vigorous activity, to this. At first, Finn didn't know how to feel, because this had, ultimately, been what he'd wanted. This was what he had been thinking about, arguing to himself about, and had decided to go for, if Ripley was still interested after knowing the truth. Yes, this had been what he had wanted, but not what he had expected. He had prepared himself too much for exactly the opposite.

So he needed a moment. A slight frown creased his forehead. "Nothing else will change." He agreed, somewhat distantly, while understanding that something already had, of course. He couldn't drop a bomb like that on Ripley and expect it to be otherwise.

What Ripley said next, however, drug him out of his deep thoughts, and he let out a scoff, his teeth flashing in a cold smile. "I love to ruin good things. It gives me great pleasure and joy to see good things ruined for other people." Other people, but not himself. "But I-" He hesitated for just a breath. "Don't want to ruin this. So I guess you're stuck with me for a while longer, then. You lucky b*****d." He grinned, and finally rolled over to flop onto his back to stare up at the ceiling.

"My nose still hurts, a*****e. I bet a blow job would make it feel better."

And back to normal.

"Maybe." While that was true, it wasn't what he meant; and what he did mean, he couldn't say, because it included a word he had branded as a trigger, and he just wasn't up to dealing with that today, after everything else. Instead he shook his head a little bit, and let the subject pass by.

"Then it stays." Ripley confirmed; if Finn was willing to keep it as it was, with all their clauses intact, then that was enough for him, at least for now. The surprise, however slight it had been in the other man's body language, was clear enough to him, and it was enough to make him give an amused breath and a slight, always short-lived smile. At least he had managed to throw two surprises at him today. That was a victory, indeed.

"Lucky me." Was his retaliation, in all of his sarcastic glory. "Same to you, you stupid a**." Reaching over, he pat the other man's chest, because it was the closest thing to him at that very moment. "But either way, ruining it for me would mean ruining it for yourself." At least on that front, he felt fairly safe. "Just something to keep in mind." He mused, looking back at the ceiling. Today was a weird day. He felt very strange. Off, at best, but noticeably. Perhaps he was just tired; they did have a rather vigorous workout not too long ago. Either way, it was a feeling that he was sure would pass soon. It always did.

Besides, Finn brought up his nose again, and that was considerably more interesting than dwelling on himself.

"I bet it would." He agreed. Then, without another word, he climbed over Finn and off of the bed, stretching his arms over his head and arching his back to the tune of several small cracks along his spine. "I'm going to have a shower." He informed the man in his bed.

Back to normal, indeed.

Finn rolled his eye while still staring at the ceiling, "Because, of course, I hadn't already figured that out." He mocked in response to Ripley's comment about ruining things for him ruining things for Finn. "I am well aware. So again, I say, lucky you."

A pause as the bed shifted, and the man beside him began to move, a half smile and a small scoff through his nose (that was a bad idea because ow, his eye closing for a moment as he gave a small shake of his head. He had no expectations at all for that moment, knowing that his hint would undoubtedly be completely ignored. As if to prove him right, Ripley climbed over top of him, and Finn's eye peeked open as his head rolled to the side to look at him.

At least this wasn't a ******** surprise. It felt good for Finn to know that there were at least some things that he could still predict correctly.

"I'm going to go ahead and hazard a guess that if I try to join you, you'll finish what you started on my face." He smirked, and then slowly sat up, propping himself up on his elbows for a moment before finishing the motion and swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, stretching his arms as well and letting out a loud, jaw creaking yawn.

"But I do need a shower too." He admitted, because sweat. Reaching up with a free hand, he pressed two fingers gently against the bridge of his nose, feeling for swelling. "And maybe a trip to the infirmary to get more pills, jackass." He grumbled, pushing himself up from the bed and eyeing Ripley before turning to gather up his clothing.

"What are you doing later?"

Since he had made his escape, his first order of business was to find his glasses. Thankfully it was a quest he completed without any trouble or any damage, and he gave a few blinks as he adjusted to wearing them again.

"You can, if you want." He corrected, and partially invited, about the whole shower thing. "But you won't get anything but a shower." He shrugged, leaning down stiffly to collect some of his tossed clothing. "At least not from me, anyway." It seemed rather important to let that fact be known too, but at least he did it with a very obviously fake pleasant smile.

"You big baby." Ripley rolled his eyes, heading to the closet where he kept his towels to grab one and wrap it securely around his hips. "You were fine a few minutes ago." While in the middle of a very rigorous round of sex that included some pretty rough kisses. Though he understood that all medication wore off, and this was just a classic example, so he finished with a lame gesture towards the desk, where his first aid kit still rested. "If you need to tide yourself over."

At the question though, he paused his quest to get a new pair of clothes to look over his shoulder. You, apparently was his first thought, but alas, a first thought that stayed silent.

"That depends on why you're asking."

Seussi
PostPosted: Sat Nov 29, 2014 9:41 am

"Exactly." Though it was still an offer he considered, because he did really need to shower. But then again, showering at the same time as Ripley would likely provide temptations that were too difficult to resist. No, better to just do it on his own time, alone.

"Ah, so you're telling me I should find somebody else to get my shower jollies with. What about Chance? You seemed only too eager to throw him my way once before, which leads me to believe that you must approve." This was all said in a rather calm manner while he gathered up the rest of his things, before taking them all to the bedside where he could sit down and begin pulling things back on. There was a rule, not to tell each other about the people they slept with, but Finn wasn't doing that, not exactly, though it was a thin line he was treading upon now and he knew it.

However, he also firmly believed that Ripley had started it with that "at least not from me" comment.

It didn't mean a damn thing, though. He wasn't going to call Chance up and invite him to the showers to fool around. It was like Finn was bluffing, but more than that, he was actually a tiny bit put off by the use Chance as a distraction thing to begin with. It had been confusing, and weird, and if he was being honest, he really hadn't liked it at all. So maybe that's why he brought it up. Maybe he wanted an explanation, though he somehow doubted he'd get a satisfactory one.

A brief nod was given in thanks for the offer of more pain pills, and he was pulling on his jeans when he answered Ripley's question, gaze turning towards him, and if cold innocence could be pulled off in a look, than Finn was surely doing an amazing job of it at that moment.

"I thought that would could take off together, maybe go on a romantic vacation. A cruise, perhaps, with doubles tennis, candle lit dinners, and couples massages. Wouldn't that just be ******** delightful?" A mocking smile, and he rose to his feet so that he could button and zip up his jeans.

"For ******** sake Ripley, you know why." The other man always had to make things so difficult. Always.

Ripley, with his change of clothes in his arms, paused by the closet as Chance's name was uttered amongst the banter. Finn went through a lot of trouble for their 'relationship' today, and...he was already attempting to pick a fight? Even a small one? It didn't make sense to him, but at the same time, it just fit. He observed the other man with the same focused but unreadable look he gave everyone, sorting his thoughts with the what was being said, and to also take a moment to just see Finn get himself dressed.

"I suppose I did." He confirmed in regards to throwing Chance at him, letting his voice sound musing, though he had already thought it over. "Desperate times call for desperate measures." It wasn't an excuse, not really, but it was important to him at the time. "I thought getting you off my back - even if it meant putting you on someone else's - was the better alternative." He gave a shrug, then shook his head slowly.

"Whatever happened then, and whatever happens now, I don't want to know." Ignorance was bliss. He looked away from Finn, down at the clothing in his arms, mentally counting to make sure he had everything. It was better than the alternative, which was dwelling on something that may have happened because he had been desperate for silence.

The subject drifted to the plans for tonight, and Ripley was almost thankful for ******** off." He frowned momentarily at the heavy sarcasm and innocent look - that b*****d was never innocent, ever. "I was planning on rock climbing." He informed his sarcastic not-boyfriend matter-of-factly. "You're welcome to join. Or I can find you after.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 29, 2014 9:38 pm

It wasn't so much a fight that he was picking so much as a small push, a comment made entirely to gauge the reaction. He noted the short pause by the closet, and waited for Ripley to continue with whatever he was doing, waited for that amber gaze to meet his own, studied the other mans face intently, searching for...something. Guilt perhaps. Regret? maybe.

But there was, as usual, nothing. The verbal response was just as unhelpful, to start with, though what he had to say next was certainly interesting. He had, in fact, thrown Chance at him. And while he must have wondered if anything had happened...he still didn't want to know.

"Of course." Finn gave his head a small shake, frowning as if Ripley's demand was completely obvious (which it was). "I didn't intend on divulging any of that information anyways." A hand wave, a sign that this part of their conversation was finished with.

Finn glanced at the fresh clothes that Ripley held in his arms, and the dirty ones that were going to be left behind. "I've got laundry to do." Lips pursed for a moment. "I can do yours too, if you want." Almost like a peace offering, something to show that he really didn't mean any harm at that moment, and wasn't looking to start anything.

As for the rock climbing.... "And you're planning on showering before you do that?" He smirked. "Please tell me that means you'll be nice and dirty for me when you get back." Was that enough of an answer about the joining him aspect? He hoped so. Plus the double entendre was rather fun as well.

Still, just in case he found himself with nothing better to do.

"But maybe I will. We'll see. If I don't, definitely find me after." Another smirk, and he stepped towards the other man, still shirtless, tongue running across his bottom lip.

"Are you sure you want to go right now?" He asked, eye flicking down, and then back up.

"Thank you." And he meant it. He did feel guilty, at least a little; but he didn't regret it, because he had no choice. It was either throw a distraction, or end his routine. Finn's question gave him a clue as to how it ended, because in truth, he had given the Trainee three options. He knew what he had been asking Chance to potentially do, and he preferred not to think of it any more than that thanks to the clues he had been presented with. He'd ask Chance about the rest of it, because he didn't want to hear it from Finn.

"I would appreciate that." It was accepted the peace offering for what it was, and graciously. He set his clothes down on his desk, and moved to collect the dirty ones that littered the floor, putting them in an easy to grab pile for later. Though the subject of his rock climbing seemed baffling, he gave Finn a look.

"Yes, I'm still showering." He said simply. "I'm on pod duty in an hour." And he refused to smell like sweat and sex, especially on the off chance someone wakes up while he was there. He rolled his eyes for the 'dirty for him' comment and almost - almost - pointed out that he already was, and consistently. He turned away for a moment to organize something on his desk, but when he turned to face Finn again, he was almost surprised to find the other man right there, giving him a once over.

"Are you a sex addict?" Ripley grinned for a moment, before shaking his head a little bit. "I...could be persuaded to wait." He replied slowly, after a moment's thought and a returned glance down the other man's body. His gaze flickered to the side, looking at the clock for only a moment. "For twenty minutes." Because he did need a shower, and he did have to report for duty, and he wanted to rush neither of those things.

Ew. Pod duty. Finn almost offered to keep him company, but he had his own things to do. Like laundry, which he had already mentioned, and...actually not a whole lot of anything else. Still, it was good to have some space.

Except for right this very second, of course, as Finn seemed pretty intent on there being no space between them at all. Ripley's question was answered first with a smirk, before he spoke. "First of all, what a ridiculous question. Second, you never know when it might be the last time, so I might as well get it as often as I can, right?" Sound logic, he thought.

Twenty minutes?

Finn grinned briefly before bending down for a deep and lengthy kiss, his hands already going to unwind the towel that Ripley put on.

Twenty minutes was doable.

Amber eyes glanced down at the distinct lack of space between them before lifting to observe the way Finn's lips moved. It took him a moment to tear his gaze away to meet his eyes. Even with everything that happened today, it was nice to put it aside in his thoughts to focus on something else. This twenty-minute distraction meant twenty minutes he didn't have to think about it.

"Well, I guess as long as we don't get tired of each other." He mused, his own little way of agreeing that it was a fairly good plan. Finn leaned down to kiss him, and he leaned up to meet it readily, expecting it and wanting it. He felt the towel around his waist loosen until it came free, and once there was the space to do so, he reached between them to work at the buttons and zipper on Finn's pants, looking to even the score a little bit.

Twenty minutes was definitely doable.
