October 1, 2015

Her elder parents had gone out for dinner, their anniversary, and so she had been tasked with babysitting her younger siblings. This was nothing new, it wasn’t even something she disliked, but deciding to go out with his wife was her elder brother and before Mahari knew it she had all ten younger siblings under her care whilst the eleventh, her sixteen year old sister, had decided to go out to a friends to study for an exam.

Once alone with the younger children the dark pink haired woman set about making dinner while seeing if any needed help with homework, and help in studying. Good at multi tasking it wasn’t hard to believe that she was answering math and English questions while she worked on dinner, a traditional dish from back home in India. Her other family members were gathered in the living room working together on their school work, the elder helping the younger, and every so often Mahari would pause in her work to listen in to the group that was working in the other room. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust them, she did, but she liked to hear them all working together. The sound of a younger brother helping his even younger niece or nephew with school work, the thanks the little ones gave, it was just something which Mahari enjoyed listening to.

When dinner was done, and it seemed most of the homework was done also, she called everyone in and helping little ones up to the kitchen sink to wash their hands, she made sure they were cleaned up before sending each to the dining room where dinner was laid out and waiting for them each, herself included. Joining them after she’d cast a last glance about the kitchen, making sure it was clean, she washed her own hands before grabbing her glass of juice and headed herself into the dining room to join the little ones for a hot meal.

Her chair already was pushed out and waiting, who did that she didn’t know, but she gave her thanks to the gathered group of little ones as she sat herself down. Watching smiles spread across tiny little faces she felt so happy to be a part of such a large and happy family.

“Enjoy.” And that said she motioned to them to dig in and enjoy. She knew she’d have to get some of the little ones to a bath after this, as the smallest were still prone to making messes of themselves, but after that what? While eating she tried to think of what else she could do with them since it seemed homework was done mostly. Finally, as a fork full of rice was passing her lips an idea hit her. Swallowing her mouthful of food she turned her pink eyes to the group. “After you all get washed up and into pajamas how about we bring the air beds down into the living room and I’ll put a movie on for everyone?” Might as well mention the pajama thing since it would be more comfortable for them, and it was likely most of them would fall asleep while watching whatever movie was played.

The nods, smiles, cheering, and movie suggestions which met her suggestion told her just how much they liked the idea. “I’ll take a suggestion from you each and decide on something – no complaints.” She said the last part as she spotted one of her nephews about to complain and pout as he was prone to doing when he didn’t get his way. His parents didn’t pamper him, not more than was suitable anyway, but he still pouted in order to try and get his way especially with his aunt Mahari and she knew this very well by now.

“While I decide I want the elder ones up to shower as soon as dinner is over. I’ll decide while I put the dishes into the dishwasher. The little ones.” Turning from the elder group of children she focused on the little ones. “I want you to wait in mother and fathers bathroom for me.” As it had a larger bathtub, sunken in, it could handle several of the little ones and she could wash the boys than the girls and get it done much easier. “Once everyone is washed and in pajamas we’ll get the air beds down together and set them up downstairs.” Together, she was not going to do it all on her own. The older ones could help and the little ones could watch and do little things if needed. She’d just need to push some bits of furniture out of the way so they could lay the mattresses out for everyone. This would be a well spent evening for Mahari – it was going to be spent with family after all.

She had never experienced anything like Halloween and she was sure she never wanted to again. She had baby sat and taken care of her siblings and nieces and nephews for years now and that included taking them to market and trying to make purchases while dealing with them all. That held nothing compared to this!

She felt like stomping her heels as she watched the children run about and tugging each other toward one house or another, as they couldn’t even agree on which house to go to first. They were going to go to each house anyway so why did it matter which they went to first? Watching as one small group went to one house, pushing past others that were passing the little fence on their way to the sidewalk, another group was heading across the street while the last group was headed to the first groups house of choices neighbors. Rolling her eyes she stood in the middle of the children filled street watching all three groups. Her heads turned from side to side as she tried to divide her attention between all three groups as they approached doors, doors opened, candy was given and collected before children were running off of porches and headed back to the sidewalk and grouping up as they talked, rambled really, about what they’d gotten. Than they were breaking up again to go to another house, and not even into the same groups, as they took off again to houses.

Sighing as she watched them she stood dressed as a witch, just to fit in, as she wondered just how much longer they’d want to be out running from house to house collecting candy. She was still in shock that her elder siblings, the parents to some of them, and her own parents had permitted this. She knew they were trying to fit in, to do things which were normal here, but to allow them all to run about like this and get free candy? Not to mention it was just her watching them all, and she hadn’t volunteered to do this alone! She’s offered to help in watching them as they went trick or treating, to help not to do it on her own, but here she was all on her own.

Shaking her head, dark pink hair shifting about against her back and moving side to side, as she walked further down the street, re-positioning herself, as the kids moved further down the street as they went to new houses and new doors for more candy. She really was hoping they wouldn’t eat too much candy tonight, that when they got home someone would put it away and divide it up so they couldn’t pig out on it all. If the kids got to eat as much as they wanted there would be no way to get them to sleep, especially certain ones.

“Father and mother owe me for this.” They were going next year, or maybe one or more of her elder siblings. She would not do this alone next year! She would offer to help again but not on her own – not again! It wasn’t supposed to even happen now.

Looking at the filled sheets she shook her head – nope not again like this.

December 1, 2015

They’d managed their version of Thanksgiving, with Indian food, in order to allow the youngest in the family to celebrate something that their classmates were celebrating. They were trying to fit in, to an extent, in order to haves to discuss with others around them and share things in common. It was why they’d celebrated the holiday even though the foods had been far from traditional for the holiday.

It was their take on it, they’d made it theirs and that was ok, as far as they were all concerned, the little ones had gone to school and talked about it with classmates who had found it interesting. A few of the little ones had said that classmates were asking about the foods they’d mentioned, said some sounded food. The reactions of classmates was mixed but over all good. This pleased the dark pink haired girl as she heard another recounting of today from one of her nieces as she helped her into bed.

It was the end of the night and time for all the little ones to get to bed, they had school in the morning and needed their sleep, and she always helped in getting the little ones off to bed with a tuck in and sometimes a story or just a small, short, conversation to let them get out whatever energy they may still have in them. Tonight it was a retelling of one boy in class who had made a yucky face and said how disgusting the food they’d had sounded. She’d sat herself on the edge of her nieces bed and while petting the girls hair explained that some people thought they, and they often commented at the grocery store about the yucky food these people are. Not only was some of it yucky but some was just puzzling. Causing the small girl to erupt into soft giggles she ruffled her hair once more.

“Now, don’t be upset that he said that. You say that about foods he likely eats and enjoys. He just has never had our food and it may look unappealing, and the look is what determines a lot.” Leaning forward she pressed a kiss the little ones forehead gently. “Just remember that.” She whispered against the others dark skin before drawing back to sit there staring at her. Watching her snuggle down, smiling and nodding her head, her little niece rolled onto her side and got comfortable.

“Have a good sleep my dear.” Petting her head one more time she stood slowly, gently, and made for the door. Perhaps she could send her into school with some traditional food, some of the foods they’d had for Thanksgiving? She’d talk to her elder brother about the idea before she did it, since she didn’t want to cause issues for her elder brother by doing such with his daughter. Yes, she would talk to him and see if perhaps bringing in some food and maybe offering some to friends to try, would help. It wasn’t that the issue was a big one, many had been curious, but it might be nice for the class to try what they were curious about and the little boy might try it when it was presented to him, in order to fit in, and he might not find it so yucky any more.

Smiling to herself she went to let her elder brother know about his daughter being snuggled into bed, before she went on to check on the other little ones and help here and there before finally heading downstairs with the other elder members of the family. They were gathering, slowly, in the kitchen to drink, eat a bit more, and talk. This is when she would bring it up with her brother and his wife, her good sister in law, over some hot food and drinks before they would all retire for the evening and sleep. She just had to wait for the right moment to bring it up.

Gathering her eleven younger siblings, nieces, and nephews Mahari sat on her bed and looked over the group. The youngest, at two years old, was sat in her lap as she finger combed their dark hair. “The last time we went out shopping some of you were all over the place, it is rude and doesn’t look good. This time when we go out you will all follow me and behave, I won’t run after any of you or raise my voice.” She said casting her pink eyes toward certain little ones, most of them under ten. They had been the worst during the last trip out. The older ones, the teenagers, were better behaved and something like her right and left hands in a sense.

“I heard whispers when we were out, employees pointing at us, we were being pointed out for your behavior and I even heard a few comments due to our race and that we are all like this - a herd of a family.” She said remembering what she’d heard. It might be true that her family was large, something she personally loved, but she figured the comments she’d heard whispered were only whispered about because some had been misbehaving.

If they had been better behaved she doubted anything would have been said about them. She would keep them on a tighter leash this time, as she gave a look to the older members of the group and waited for them to catch on. Watching them nod she smiled a bit.

“Now, go get ready. We’ll be leaving soon. I want everyone in the van in fifteen minutes.” She had three little ones to help get ready so they could go out on this last shopping trip. She could have gone out on black friday, and saved a lot, but there was no way she could get this group out on a day like that - it was dangerous.

She herself planned to go out shopping on black Friday, and she knew some of the older family members planned to do so as well as her own parents, but she couldn’t and wouldn’t dare take the little ones.

Standing up, slowly, the two year old in her arms and held to her chest she headed off to their room in order to get them ready to go out. Motioning to two other little ones, the other two she would be having to get ready, she was happy to see them follow her while everyone else wandered off to get ready. “If you aren’t ready and down at the van in fifteen minutes I will leave without you.” She called out as a warning, and a promise, before she entered the youngest family members room and set them in their bed before going to get proper clothing and a coat for them.

The youngest, being only two, was not always agreeable to being fiddled with and dressed as they tended to fuss and flail little chubby hands about and kick their legs. It was...annoying but she had gotten used to it. Legs were caught and put down pants legs while little chubby arms were grabbed mid flail and slipped into sleeves before clothing was arranged and the toddler was stood up. A coat was slipped onto the, something nice and puffy and warm, and a little beanie covered their head soon.

The next members of her group of three was dressed with slightly less fussing, they were old enough to be a bit picky about what they wore, and soon the next youngest in the family stood by the toddler and held onto their hand as she made her way to the next bedroom and started grabbing clothing, keeping in mind this one's favorite colors, and she let them dress themself and only helped with the hat that they too wore.

Three down and hopefully the rest were ready, she just needed to get a coat for herself and earmuffs, she wasn’t about to wear a hat, so it was just a quick trip to her room on the way downstairs and carrying the toddler at her hip Mahari led the way downstairs where she grabbed the van keys and called out to her parents that they were leaving and would be out for a while. Her mother responding, wishing them to be safe, she would need it with the amount of poor drivers on the road, she headed outside and spotting a few of the others by the van she unlocked the door and watched as they began to climb in.

Moving to fasten little ones into car seats and booster seats she was soon pleased with her work and after a quick headcount, finding them all to be in the van, she went around to the driver's side and climbed in.

With how large their family was they had two vans that held twelve people while a few people also had personal cars. The big group vans were for when everyone was going somewhere so they didn’t show up in half a dozen, or more, vehicles. It was simple convenience and she had learned to drive a van when she first learned to drive, as well as a car. She also knew how to drive a stick shift, having to learn that as well according to her father - he would not have a stupid daughter who couldn’t drive any possible vehicle she might encounter.

Once inside the van she turned on some music, informing them she would not turn it up as she had to focus on the road - people were not thinking the best due to the holidays and sales. That said she pulled out of the driveway and headed for the mall, hoping that they would all behave this time.

The mall was packed, something she was a bit surprised about, truth be told Mahari was figuring it wouldn’t be as packed today as people would be waiting, and saving their money, till black friday. It seemed she was wrong however as the mall was swarming with people bustling all about. The group of little bodies was hard to keep track of at times, as people kept trying to walk right through the middle of the group - did they really not notice them all?

She wanted, several times now, to turn on some person and yell at them about pushing the kids, hitting them with bags, and just getting in the middle of the group and almost separating them. She did not need that!

Taking a long, deep, breath she let it out slowly in order to calm herself before shifting the toddler's weight on her hip a bit. “Come on, time to go back in the stroller.” She couldn’t keep him in her arms any longer, she needed a break, he was heavy and with all the walking and everything...it was too much. Taking her coat back from one of her siblings she let it drape over her arm before taking control of the stroller and leading the way to the next store. “Keep together, hold hands with the one next to you. I won’t have people trying to separate you.”

Biting her lip, contemplating her next words, she said what she was sure would stun her siblings. “If you have to push people - do so. I won’t have them getting in the way. Step on a foot if you need to, it’s their fault for being so rude.” She never would suggest shoving, pushing, or even stepping on people normally. But some of these people! They were so rude and thoughtless and she had a family to keep together, she couldn’t imagine if some of the youngest got separated from the group. She didn’t think she’d hear her cell phone ringing over the noise of people plus the Christmas music playing...as if people forgot Thanksgiving was tomorrow!

Wasn’t it some kind of very important holiday to them? And yet they seemed to be ignoring it completely. All she saw was Christmas decorations, and lights, strewn all about. There was an area to take pictures with Santa and his helpers...and the music, there was no way to forget about the music. There wasn’t a single sign of Thanksgiving, though she did understand it lacked in certain ways...even more so than Halloween did. But it was still important...couldn’t they wait on the decorations till after it? But no, they likely helped to drive the purchasing going on so she supposed it was just good business...but still it felt a bit wrong somehow - and she wasn't’ even from here!

Keeping her pace slow, as tiny legs couldn’t keep up if she picked up her pace, Mahari made her way toward one of the bigger department stores .The bigger stores were first on her list, wanting to deal with the crowds there first before she dealt with too much from everywhere else and lost her calm, as she knew she would by the end of this shopping trip.

Stepping inside of Macy’s she made her way right toward the handbags, planning to take advantage of the fact they had pre-sales going on (she knew this from one of her elder sister). She was planning on getting her mother a handbag, tote sized, for Christmas so she could carry everything with her - she stuffed her currant bag far too much.

Moving around the area dedicated to Coach bags she saw a few that were nice but there was some that were simpler over in the Michael Kors area, and she did want to get her mother a nice bag...it wasn’t about price or name. Tapping her foot she shook her head as she continued looking around, kids following her as she pushed the stroller, her little nephew having nodded off to sleep at some point.

It was one of the younger ones who came toward her with a bag, pointing out how nice it was. It was fabric nylon and large, a tote bag, it was lovely really. The rich red color like a fine wine - it was lovely with the brown leather trim and the golden zipper and such. It was a Michael Kors bag and that didn’t matter as she motioned the little ones to follow her, thanking the one who’d found the bag.

Approaching the register she asked a worker if the nylon helped it with water, where water wouldn’t get in as easily and dampen things inside. She was concerned about it due to the season, rain and snow would be an issue as with a fabric bag if enough hit the bag it could soak through. Assured the bag was good for the weather, having had customers compliment the bag, she handed it over and let them knew she would be pre-selling the bag. It meant she would be paying now, taking 25% off the price, and pick it up in two weeks time. Giving her contact information, incase she somehow forgot to turn up to pick up the bag, she paid for it using her own Macy’s card and that done she was able to continue her shopping.

January 10, 2017

It wasn’t anything new - feeling unwelcome. The Negaverse had enough officers who disliked corrupted senshi, she knew that well enough, but to feel so thoroughly berated and that she had done wrong - so very wrong. That was new to the pink haired woman. She had been thinking about the team, about helping the team and trying to make sure they all got out. She hadn’t had any ill intentions or thoughts fueling her actions and yet she had done wrong. She knew it could have gone wrong, her attempt to help could have failed, but the reason behind it should have...it should have been seen for the good thing that it was - right?

That had been days ago and still she couldn’t shake the feelings as they haunted her. She felt upset and even more disliked than she had already felt, and considering even the youma hated her kind that said something.

Mahari hadn’t powered up since then, there really was no reason to anyway. She was already ahead of her quota so she could take some time off and just...try and get over it. It made her feel insecure and made her question things - question herself and what it meant to be in the Negaverse and where her position in there was. She didn’t have friends in the Negaverse, a few very loose connections and that was it. She had hoped, had wanted, to make friends within the group and she had wanted above all else to prove herself...to be useful.

She had tried to be useful, to help, to put the team and the whole above herself and where had that gotten her? Scolded, in front of others, and very displeased officers. She hadn’t tried to do wrong, she had thought it was the proper actions - to help the group and work together...wasn’t that what an army did? Wasn’t that what she had done? Tried to work as a group? She had thought so but now she wasn’t sure and the guilt and questions were eating at her and the wounds were festering inside her as she was filled with less than positive feelings.

What should she do? What could she do? Did she turn on the Negaverse...on all she knew? She had read the files, in her desire to learn more and be a better member, and knew that to leave would cost her memories and her family. Could she do that? Did she even want to? Was this slight, this one incident, enough to sway her away from the side she’d been brought into?

She really felt weak and she knew she was if this was bothering her so much but wasn’t she entitled to be weak? What would people say to her - about her? Did it matter? In a way it did...in a way she didn’t want people to think so ill of her if she did change sides and she knew her reasoning was so flimsy and weak and it would no doubt be pointed out. What would the other side say even? Did that even matter? Did anyone else's opinion matter especially if she did such a thing?

Pacing around her room, unable to sit still for a moment, she moved on bare feet across the carpeted floor. Pink hair swinging back and forth as she turned every time she reached one end of her room, so she could make her way right to the other end of her room and turn again. If a person could actually wear a hole in a carpet, and a wooden floor, she was well on her way to doing so.

She knew there was no one she could talk, no one within the Negaverse, she didn’t trust anyone and even if she did she felt like such a discussion was push any trust beyond it’s limit and the loyalty others had would take precedence and she would find herself in even more trouble. She wasn’t allowed, she felt, to honestly talk to someone or question things...she felt isolated and like she had to keep this to herself - to the daylight hours and her civilian life. The isolation was, in part, her own fault she knew and she wouldn’t deny that truth.

She could have tried to make friends but even if she had that brought her back to how much she could trust any friends she could have in the Negaverse. It didn’t seem possible to have a friend you could confide in within the negaverse, not freely anyway. You couldn’t tell your secrets and talk of your emotional woes and needs. Weaknesses, things to be used against you, things to get you in trouble. Why make a friend in the Negaverse? She had wanted to, had up until the other day, make friends and get close to someone - anyone but especially another corrupted if possible. Someone like herself...someone who she felt would understand. But could she even trust them? They were negaverse also after all.

She had been in a meeting of almost nothing but corrupted senshi and none had approached her, not that she had approached anyone herself, but still. She felt like she just blended in to the background, and it hurt. It wasn’t that she craved, or even wanted, the limelight but some attention and something positive would be nice. She had gotten a small dose of it once, that her magic was useful and that had just been warming and so nice. But the warmth had gone away and in it’s place had been left a hole that now filled with coldness that slowly crept in and filled the void.

She knew she could be gullible at times, often really, but even she knew she couldn’t trust the others in the Negaverse. She wasn’t that gullible, though she was damn close, it was likely that the life or death element kept her from being as gullible and trusting as she normally was. If it wasn’t for that...yeah she’d talk and spill everything to someone - nearly anyone.

As she continued pacing about her room her arms came up and wrapped around herself in a hug, she really needed a hug right now and not one from herself. Knowing she couldn’t go downstairs and seek the comfort she needed, and craved, so badly and there was no one to turn to she felt her eyes start to sting and tingle as she blinked several times. Little drops of clear fluid cascaded down her cheeks and plopped onto the carpet below her feet.

This wasn’t what she wanted.

January 10, 2017

As the holidays came and went Valeria was left feeling as uncomfortable as ever, maybe even more so, she was fearing this year would be the same as the previous one. Even though 2017 had only just started it still felt like she was doomed already. It wasn’t just because of her own personal situation in the Negaverse but also because she couldn’t help but feel like the bats and the rabbits were somehow caused by the Negaverse. Maybe she was being a pessimist, which wasn’t normal for her, but she knew what the Negaverse was capable of and they were capable of some pretty bad things…

Biting down on her bottom lip the senshi of brains continued on her patrol, a few orbs of energy held inside a small purse that sat at her hip. The strap for the bag, a thin bit of silk, went across her chest from her left shoulder down to her right hip. Tonight had been a good night so far, it seemed that the cold didn’t deter street walkers from doing their job. It also didn’t stop pimps from being out watching them as they worked.

It was from the pimps, as well as a few drug dealers, that she was gathering the energy tonight. It was an easy source of energy and she didn’t feel any guilt over it. These people, a word she used loosely on them, were the worst sort of people. The only people worse were the ones who cut the heads off people, raped women, and committed other such atrocities in the name of religion. These people she took energy from were not worth it, she should have just taken their starseeds but she just wasn’t in the mood tonight. There was honestly only so much death she could take and she couldn’t bring herself to do so tonight - maybe tomorrow night. It was something she didn’t have an issue with, not when it came to these sorts of individuals, but she was still snuffing out a life and it still did bother her on some level. It was still a shock to her watching the lights go out in someone's eyes and hear that last breath taken.

Stepping out from behind a row of dumpsters the corrupted senshi’s pink eyes scanned the street beyond the mouth of the alleyway before she stepped out onto the sidewalk, no one was around thankfully, and continued on her way as she left another unconscious body in her wake. Had he been a normal person she would have left him conscious, or at least covered up somehow, but no - let him freeze.

Maybe, just maybe, in this small way she fit in with the Negaverse? She sure didn’t feel like she did normally...but what white moons senshi would do as she was doing - as she had done? As good as they were they didn’t stop people like the ones she’d left scattered about the red light district unconscious. Why though? Were they too good for that?

Even if that was the case and even if she was ok with what she was doing tonight, would do how many more nights to come, she still in the end didn’t belong and she knew it. Deep down she knew she didn’t belong but what could she do? Letting a sigh drift past her lips she stood under a street light at a corner, the red don’t walk sign across the street flashing at her.

When the light turned green she continued on her way, crossing the street, she would have to do something soon. She just didn’t know what, or rather she did...but how? Pausing in the middle of the road for a moment she shook her head slowly. This really was no good...

Since she’d started to wander the right light district, remembering when she’d had others suggest she go after those in the city who harmed others, she was glad she was finally doing just that. It made her feel better, to know she was helping the city, she was also able to make her quota and feel comfortable doing her job. She didn’t feel so guilty about going after civilians, and she could even take starseeds now.

The new outlook on things, and how well it was going so far, had Valeria happy and made her days even brighter when she was running around the pharmacy inside the ever busy Destiny City Hospital. She didn’t have guilt weighing her down and she looked forward to her nights out, rather than dreading them, it made things easier for her all around and she knew her better mental state showed when she was home.

Her little nieces and nephews had seen and mentioned it to her, several times, as they clung to her while out shopping. The idea she’d once had of giving it up - giving everything up so she could change sides and not continue with this dark path…it was all gone. She had found her comfort spot in the scheme of things.

Stepping out of the hospital Mahari was smiling even as the sky was filled with gray clouds, heavy and full of water, she knew it would rain but she was confident in making it home before hand. It was recent that she’d moved out, finding an apartment of her own till she could afford a house, but her family liked to gather often for dinner together - one massive gathering. Heading through the parking lot, to where she had her car parked, Mahari was pulling her phone from the small bag she carried with her to work. After unlocking the screen she dialed her mother to ask about dinner.

Asking in quick hindi if she should order food, so there was more food to go with whatever her mother had and other female family members had made, or if she should just come and help in finishing things. It seemed that no matter how much everyone cooked for these gatherings it was never enough, not with so many children that were all growing so fast.

Nodding her head, and talking to her mother, Mahari wasn’t surprised when her mother said to order and pick up some more food to bring over. She could also hear one of her sisters in the background, scolding someone else. She couldn’t tell which sister, she had too many sisters and they all sounded very similar, and she was certain that was a nephew of hers being scolded. Asking her mother what was going on she couldn’t help laughing, while unlocking her car, as her mother told her just how her little nephew was trying to steal sweets while everyone was busy making dinner. She wasn’t surprised, considering which nephew of hers it was, he liked sweets very much.

Offering to pick up a good dessert, something everyone would love, she added in getting something else for her nephew as a bribe so he’d behave now in order to get the better dessert later - after dinner. Hearing her mother speaking to her nephew, as well as her older sister, Mahari was glad to hear her mother confirm her idea. Bidding a goodbye, for now, to her mother she hung up while promising to order some food and dessert, which she went about doing once she was buckled in and her phone was plugged in.

There were, in her opinion, a few good places which did Indian food in the city, only a few, while there were more than that in total places that did Indian food. Most were not good or it was Americanized and thus even worse than poorly done Indian food. Having siri call one of the places, she had the phone number for each place she liked, saved on her phone. And as the phone rang she went over what she wanted to order. As soon as it was answered she was greeting the person in hindi, knowing the staff all spoke the same language, and put in an order that she would pick up. She’d be there, given the time they put on her order, before it was done and she could sit and wait and watch the people eating in the restaurant.

It was always nice to people watch, it was even nicer when people were waiting for their orders as well and would talk to her. She liked talking to some of the older women waiting for food to bring home to their families, they were very good conversationalists. Pulling out of the parking lot Mahari headed towards the restaurant, the map on her phone said she had a bit of traffic to contend with, it wouldn’t be too long of a drive though.

The drive was…a bit longer than she’d anticipated but she supposed it was all due to the traffic and how slow people were driving. The map couldn’t predict that really, it had no idea someone was going to cut her off as well, even if they didn’t jam on their breaks once they’d cut her off, the map had no way of knowing just what was going on amongst the cars stuck in that bit of traffic. But as soon as the congestion eased up she was taking off, making a quick left turn, and soon Mahari was parking down a small side road that ran alongside the restaurant she needed to pick her family's food up from.

Hoping out of the car the pink haired woman hurried from her car into the restaurant, greeting the hostess at the counter as she entered, she took stock of those in the waiting area and smiled pleasantly to them while nodding her head in greeting to them each. They were all Indian and she didn’t want to seem rude to them, so she did her best in greeting each on appropriately, it was likely that some of these people knew her family and she didn’t want to come off as rude and have something said to a family member of hers. The community was fairly small and many knew each other, it was simply how it went in foreign countries, but it also made for a nice feel amongst them all. It felt like a little slice of home but safer - much safer.

Turning back to the hostess she let them know what she was picking up, the order being under her name, and paid using her phone. Thanking her, and wishing others a good night, she took the large bag and headed out.

Time to get to dinner…she was starving.

That senshi, the one dressed like a clown, might have thought Valeria hadn’t heard her parting words but the pink haired senshi had heard her - she’d heard it all. When she arrived close to home Valeria powered down and Mahari continued her walk home, slowly, as she wondered if that was true. How could a person survive without a starseed? It was the same as a soul, right? To survive without it seemed impossible even if magic was involved, there was only so much magic could do - right?

As she walked, opening the front door to the apartment building, Mahari’s thought were turned toward the idea of being stuck in a coma waiting for the inevitable end. Did they even know? Some people did say they knew what was going on around them in a coma…would that be the same? Could it even be without a soul? She could imagine there being no personality and just the body going through the motions…like a vegetable instead. That seemed more correct in her mind, rather than a person trapped in their body with thoughts of some sort going on.

But if a starseed was returned they lived…you didn’t come back from a vegetative state….so were they not in a vegetative state even though they had no soul, no personality which made them who they were? So perhaps they were in a vegetative state but the starseed being returned did what nothing else would…pulled a person from a vegetative state and brought them back?

The ideas, the implications, rolled about her mind, turning and twisting, as Mahari made her way to the elevator and up to her floor. Stepping out of the elevator she headed down the hall, deep in thought, towards her door. There was a lot to think about and she didn’t want to go pondering it all on her own.

Unlocking her front door the pink haired woman let herself into her apartment as she flipped on the light, and closed and locked the door behind herself. She didn’t feel bad for what she’d done but rather the potential for suffering. S he was aiming for clean kills…not for the dealers, and pimps, to suffer - no one should suffer. But they did need to be dealt with, and she was certain her way was the right way. The cops weren’t busting people in the red light district. Even if they were more turned up…there was no fear of the cops keeping more from cropping up. If, however, they kept turning up dead maybe it would stop others from filling the empty spots she left.

She was certain she was doing the right thing, that senshi wasn’t about to sway her, but she did wonder if she were going about it right. The idea that it was messy, even if it didn’t seem messy, didn’t sit well with her. She’d rather have a clean death that didn’t leave a person lingering, and a family suffering, at least if they were dead there was closure for the family.

While grabbing a drink, a glass of wine, the olive skinned woman meandered across the kitchen to grab something from the fridge to eat - leftovers. She’d heat them in the oven, once it was pre heated. While that happened the tv looked like a good idea for her right now. She was already coming to a conclusion in her mind - talk to Stitichite. He was a doctor and if this was true it might bring up the same issue for him. Perhaps they could find a clean way to go about their work as well. Seating herself in the armchair Mahari sunk back into it, letting it envelope her, as she pulled her legs up and under herself, she got comfortable and let herself have a sip of wine before flipping on the tv.

Seeing as she lived on her own, having moved out of her parents home only a year ago, Mahari was glad for it as she was trying to be more active as a corrupt senshi. That meant she was more likely to get injured, like last night, and she couldn’t have her family seeing her injured. Some injuries there would be no way to hide, either due to placement or severity, in this case it was severity because it was her shoulder which had been shot.

She couldn’t hide how sore her shoulder was, or how lifting her arm up too high was impossible, Mahari couldn’t possibly hide her injury from her beloved family. They would see something, even a wince of pain, or how stiff she was and would zero in on it and question her until she let them know she was hurt. Then they’d want to see, which was to be expected, and word would get around her family of the injury and what was the likely cause of it.

After that it would be only a matter of time before they started to ask how and why she was shot, and who tended to the injury - why not one of them. It would be a whole lot of drama and hugging and emotions and Mahari did not want to go through with it all. She couldn’t…she might slip and tell them things she didn’t want to, not to mention she couldn’t tell them these things.

Maybe, just maybe, it was time she got herself a pet so she could talk to them and make keeping secrets from her family a bit easier. She wouldn’t mind a pet anyway…she was a bit lonely in her apartment, because she was so used to being around other people, it wouldn’t hurt to see about a pet to keep her company and give some noise and life to the place.

But the question was…dog or cat or something else? She had time on her hands to take care of a pet but dogs needed to be walked, or they’d go in the house, and a cat had a litter box you could clean. Little animals though could get at things when out and about and kill themselves - or get lost. She could hire someone to dog walk for her though….it wasn’t like she couldn’t afford it.

Looking around her apartment, taking stock of things, Mahari got up and slowly wandered around while wondering what things would be like. Where a water and food bowl would go…some toys would be needed as well. There was a coat peg by her door where a leash could go. She would need a dog trainer as well….and a walker. She could swing both, she knew she could, and the idea of a dog appealed more than a cat.

Grabbing her cell phone, when she walked by the kitchen counter top, she unlocked her phone and sent a text to Kashvi asking her sister about her idea…about getting a dog. She would, if she went for it, go to the local shelter. She wanted Kashvi to come with her - to help her. She was seriously considering it. She’d need to hit up a pet store first, she wasn’t going to get a dog while she had nothing waiting for their arrival. She’d like Kashvi with her for the shopping and the shelter trip.

As her phone pinged Mahari read over the text and nodded to herself, heading for her room to get ready. She might be injured, she might be recovering from an injury she needed to hide, but she was still going to do this and hope her sister didn’t notice she was hurt. Because Mahari needed company. Living alone had gone on long enough, it needed to end.
