Ancestor this and ancestor that. At first, Nazca thought it was just a weird way of referring to a grandparent or something, but now he wasn't so sure. "What's with this 'ancestor' business? Did you learn about all this from someone in your family?" If that was the case, why was he stuck getting his information from the burger guy? Not that he had anything against Noah, but he would have preferred not having his mental breakdown in front of someone he barely knew.
More importantly, if he'd been in on it from the start, he would have known enough to keep Tara from leaving.
That thought distracted Nazca from the conversation. He continued to nod and "mhmm" and "uh-huh," but he wasn't playing attention anymore, too busy blaming himself for the umpteenth time. When he finally forced himself out of that cycle, it was to ask a particularly important question.
"Have you ever told anyone about this? Magic and knights and stuff? Anyone who wasn't already... involved?"
Getting a response from Pharos wouldn't answer his real question, but since Tara wasn't there, he had to improvise. He needed an answer, even if it wasn't accurate.

"My ancestor? Um he is my grandfather, the knight of Pharos before I was. He's sort of like a ghost or spirit of sort. He stays at my wonder and shows up sometimes to talk to me, not always, but he can be helpful. If not for him I wouldnt have even been able to get to the top of the lighthouse. Though I guess it might not be the same for everyone. I'm not terribly certain. I'm sorry."
She grinned at him even though she was apologizing for her lack of knowledge. his next question made her think for a moment before she shook her head in the negative. "I don't really have anyone else to tell. I'm from the outskirt of Destiny City in the farm area. Everyone really I know in the city is involved in this. My friends, my team, but if you mean my mother, um no. I honestly don't think that is a good idea."
She gave him a curious glance wondering if he had told anyone that wasnt already involved, but didn't ask. Instead her face took on a sort of epiphany expression. "It will be faster if we run, otherwise we might be walking for a really long time. Take my hand, this road has a rather neat bit of magic."

All in all, Nazca thought he'd handled this trip pretty well. He hadn't tried to invent supposedly logical explanations for what he was seeing. He accepted the fact that they were in space, somewhere. Another knight might have let him have that victory. Apparently, Pharos thought this would be a good time to throw a wrench into the works.
Space was one thing, but how was he supposed to believe in ghostly grandparents?
"I... no, never mind." He shook his head, unable to wrap his head around this latest puzzle, and unwilling to admit that to someone who was earnestly trying to help him. He couldn't risk insulting her by calling her a liar or a misguided fool. The best course of action would be to shelve this issue for the day and focus on what was really important.
Like her answer. It was sort of shocking that everyone Pharos knew in the city was tangled up in this mess. Either she had an extremely small social circle, or Destiny City was in much worse shape than he'd realized.
"Why would it be bad?" he demanded, offering his hand as she extended hers. "Wouldn't she be able to help you? What's the problem?"
