Fleade was still rather tired, and no matter how much she wanted to see the captives, they wouldn't let her. With a sigh, she was about to turn around when a voice caught her attention. No, she didn't have anyone to return to, but it seemed the pacifist didn't have anyone to return to either. She spoke passionately because she wanted to escape. She didn't want to be someone's prisoner. She wasn't malicious or cruel at heart, she was a survivor. "No. It's just me." She smiled a little bit at his flattery but her whole heart wasn't in it. "I spoke passionately because I love the land in which I live. Because although the races have their differences, we've come together to face this enemy. I spoke passionately because I didn't want to be someone's prisoner, doing what they tell me while they hurt the people of the land I call home. I may not have anyone to return to, but its the exact reason that I am so passionate. Nobody will be sad if I die in the process." She said it in a matter of fact tone with a shrug. She had her family at home, but they'd be fine without her. Perhaps they'd even have forgotten about her by now.
When the call to organize came out, she sighed. She didn't have much energy but she had to give it her all. "Fight well if you intend to fight. If not. Pray to whatever god or goddess that you believe in that your peers fight well otherwise you may find yourself back where we just got out of." Fleade turned and walked where they told her to, charged when they said, and attacked the nearest oban, finally letting out her frustration over the ordeal she had been in. With dismay, she knew there wasn't a lot of strength to her attacks but at least they were quick.

Finnley had just been talking with Ime about the precious kiddo. "I'm sorry Ime. I...I think I'm going to go on the front lines and see what I can do from there." She gave her friend a hug before ending up in a group of people she didn't know. "I am m-more p-proficient in healing than attacks, so please let me know if y-you need assistance." She told them quickly before trying out an attack. Earth seemed most logical, raising her staff, she sent small fist sized clumps at the vanguard. If anything she hoped they were distractions.

Vollerei, once the prisoners who'd escaped from the Obans came back with their own prisoners decided it'd be best to toss the Oban she was currently squishing in with them. Taking care to bind him well before she left, Vollerei went to see what the leaders were doing. She hoped they'd order and attack now; take advantage of the confusion! But no... She growled to herself as she watched them chat away their advantage, they just had to talk about it, had to try and 'gather more forces,' prepare more.. Time to strike is now! She agreed completely with Naria when they heard the sounds of the Oban army approaching. And there goes our advantage, she thought glumly as she raced to join the front lines.
Her eyes locked onto the Arwa, the beasts who'd defeated them last time: she wanted to kill and eat it! But it was too far and these pesky warriors were in her way! She sneered at them and charged; her spear dancing as she moved with deceptive speed to launch herself into the fray. Her height and long reach coupled with her spear allowed her to attack not only the warriors in the front line... but also the ones behind them! Not for her to hide behind a line and use her spar from safety; she preferred to be in front and clear a way for those behind to follow. She killed the Oban in front of her and stepped into his spot; the perfect way to attack a lot of people was to be surrounded!

He didn't know what had kept him off of the front lines until now. His pride wouldn't allow him to admit it was fear, but, well, it probably was. Eventually, after he'd had his fill of meat and bread, the prentice couldn't honestly stall any longer, so off he went, Tafiir's father's sword clutched in his bloodless hand. It had a comforting weight to it, though he knew now he could handle heavier, and Kauff smiled as he looked out over the battlefield.
A knobbly-kneed Alkidike girl hurried past him, accidentally (or so he preferred to assume) swiping him in the shoulder with her spear. She didn't address him or even turn, and on impulse he followed her... directly into the path of a sword. It swung so close that he could hear the blade whistle through the air, and he countered as well as he could, fighting back with a snarl.

Ikkio had been looking forward to taking it easy before the big battle whatchamacallit, but when the call to gather came forth, well, that was that. She followed her father onto the field, and she could still see him, arcing and crackling with the devastating power he possessed. She had nothing of the sort, not yet, which made her role in this somewhat difficult...
She stood back with the longer ranged, more delicate mages, idly flippling the corners of her book. She watched as the battle opened and felt something extraordinary, something she had never felt before:
Fear.
It was exquisite and invigorating. She had never been truly, absolutely afraid before in her life. She swallowed, wary, looking for where she could exert her power.
Her bright yellow eyes lit upon a familiar... semifamiliar... face.
Ah! The shifter woman from before, the sister to Lassarra who had so rudely shortened their conversation. Ikkio's heart sped up, adrenaline rushing through her as the woman's arrow bit deep into the chest of one of the enemies. She was too far away to see the warrior die, but she knew her purpose now.
Yes...
She flipped to a page in the book, speaking the words as she had been taught and stumbling on the strange sounds only once as power flowed through her and out of her, wrapping around the woman and strengthening her.
Ikkio smiled, pleased: now the woman's arrows would bite even deeper... for a time.
As the call to order sounded, Hijil put a hand on Bhima's shoulder again. Garbed as it was in the gauntlet, she couldn't feel her love's skin, or the warmth of her body, but - as meaning flowed between them, the words unsaid as weighted as the words that were said - Hijil knew that she had been right to seek Bhima out, right to step up to this fight, right to feel the way she felt.
She only realized that her lips brushed against Bhima's cheek in a kiss when she came down from the tip-toed stance she had needed to reach the alkidike's face in the first place.
Hijil had only brushed her cheek, and Bhima wasn't convinced it had been intentional. This was it, though. The Obans were coming, and one of both of them may die. Her brow furrowed a moment and she turned, taking Hijil's jaw in her hand and kissing her once, deeply.
"I love you," she said, but only touched the woman's cheek and took her hand, then flew into battle, releasing Hijil. Even if the sentiment wasn't shared, Hijil deserved to know.
Now she just had to survive.
As the sides clashed, she leaped with blades raised toward an Oban within the group. The blades sunk in and she gave a triumphant laugh.
A gentle looking sort had joined the group and he nodded to her. Sure, if he needed help he would call to her. For now his eyes were drawn back to the advancing crowd. He drew back by touch to the gem on his cheek and let the arrow fly. It landed square in the center of some poor man's ribcage. He nocked another arrow, not hesitating in his volley.
"Alright, everyone behind me!" Yaholo announced as the fighting began. The sheer amount of soldiers heading towards them seemed staggering, which made the Brute reasonably nervous. He skirted his way in front of Rilind as they went forward and slammed at any foes that tried to lay a blow upon them.
"No one, and I mean, NO ONE, is going to get you while I'm here, Ril." He grumbled. "Just stay close to me and we'll make it out alive."
Rastian had only just come out of the sleeping area when the call to battle rang though his ears. He clutched his ears and grumbled, before, suddenly, he remembered where he was. This was war, doom was on it's way, and he was hungover. He was a excellent example for young healers, wasn't he?
He stumbled forward and took a firm hold of his staff, before summoning as much ice as he could and hurling it towards members of the Vanguard. In no way was he contender enough to make an actual spell, but he could still do some decent damage if he tried.
