Luxor was glad to see her back in human form, but the look on her face told him he was not yet talking to his girlfriend. He frowned at her seriously, eyebrows furrowing in anger and rising frustration, though he tried to keep his temper in check. Now was not the time to let himself get too worked up.
He listened to her rant at him but tried to look completely unaffected. It was one of the first times that he had to actually try to keep his emotions off his face.
"So you are going to stay in control of her until you find all the shards? That's not acceptable, I want to be with her, not you. As pleasant as you are, you're not my type."
Luxor could turn to sarcasm when his buttons were getting pushed, and he certainly was feeling it at this point. Stressed and upset that he was not talking to Zia, and wanting this whole thing to be done. He hoped that if Zirconia did go home, that would leave Zia in one peace, and they could just move on with their lives.
He doubted it would be that easy.
"What if I help you look for these shards?"

A pleasant as you are, you're not my type.
An appalled and horrified snort escaped her before she just sneered in his direction. "I'm flattered you think that's even an option," She volleyed with equal acid in her tone, and then muttered something under her breath about the human species.
"Look, circus freak, I was here first. I gave her a break, but I've always been here, in the back of her mind. Zia sold her soul, it's not my fault the two of you regret it because of some puppy dog crush."
She dug around in Zia's pockets until she found her nail file and started cleaning up her manicure. "I'll regress back and let Zia drive the body for a bit, but I'm still going to be here. Until those shards are found-- and there's no guarantee they ever will be-- Zia''s my host, like she agreed to be. You want to buy back her soul then yes. Finding shards would be smart."
Then she halted very suddenly and narrowed her eyes at him in concentration, and a bit of confusion.
"Why do you run a circus?"
It was always a flash of the eyes that signaled change, though, even though Zirconia didn't wear her pain out on her sleeve quite like Zia did. She idn't get to get her answer before Zia's less stiff body posture took over. She blinked as if she forgot was she was doing, and ended up throwing the nail file in frustration. She liked her nails just how they were, thank you.
She got up and retrieved the crystal from the ground, dusting it off on her shirt sleeve and holding it like it was much more sacred. "I can't believe it wasn't enough for her."

Luxor frowned at her, though he tended to frown more often than not. This one was a serious one, deeper than his usual, passive expression, and his eyes reflected a real anger at her flippant attitude as far as using Zia as a host.
It might not have been a big deal to her, but to him it was everything.
Feeling like he made a deal with the devil, he nodded his head once when she said she would let Zia back in control, then looked a little surprised at her question. It seemed out of the blue and he was not sure how to answer. He did not have the chance, anyway, before he saw a familiar look returning to Zia's eyes. Zirconia must have been good to her word, as Luxor immediately felt calmed. A wave of relief hit him and he responded to it on instinct.
After Zia picked up the crystal, Luxor moved to her. He caught her by the wrist and tugged her to him, wrapping her up in his strong arms and holding her to him tightly for a long moment.
He did not say anything, not sure what to say. But in a way, he did not think he had to, not right now. This was the most important thing he could be doing. And the most telling. It was not hard to understand how glad he was to see her, and everything else, crystals and shards and mirrors, was a distant second.

Zia was focused on the crystal, since it had been elevated in her mind to a sacred ticket to solving all of her problems and even if Zirconia did not respect the fact this was a greater crystal, Zee still had her memories and knew what that meant.
She didn't have time to really e started by the hand on her wrist, because by the time she registered it, she was embraced in a solid hug against the Pluto knight. "A-ah... hello..."
The personality switches seemed to be much more complete than Zia remembered them. Before when Zirconia took over she could still hear, see, and feel everything happening in spite of not being in control. Now it was like being pushed into the abyss and only knowing what happened by accessing Zirconia's memories. She was shocked to find Luxor even present, since she had been digging for the conclusion to presenting the crystal to Cassandra and wondering why Zirconia's soul hadn't been removed.
There was a small feeling of guilt that made her tense. Her half assed explanations and hints had come to fruition, and all due to the fact she had been so rattled by the future she had let Zirconia loose.
But she gave in to the comfort too easily, and sank against him, nuzzling her nose into his neck and exhaling a long sigh.
"I'm sorry."

"You don't have to be sorry."
Luxor could hardly blame her for anything, even if there was blame to be had. How could he? He was not really sure what was going on, save what he was seeing and hearing, and none of it really made sense to him because he was not directly involved. He was learning as he went, and trying to respond to it in turn.
He looked at her as he drew back a bit, touching his hand to her face.
"I'm just glad you're back. I don't like Zirconia."
He said it firmly. She had not really made the best impression on him, after all, and he much preferred Zia to the grumpy space cat. Not that he had any room to judge those that were grumpy, considering his general disposition, but still.
"Are you okay? She said we have to find those shards for her to go back to... where ever she is going... Is that a safe thing for you to do?"

"Yeah, she's kind of a b***h," Zia said, a little too casually. She had been living with Zirconia's voice in her head a little too long.
But she nuzzled against his hand. There were still cat qualities that threaded through her actions in spite of being the 'human' soul. They were supposed to merge, in a perfect world, and that made more progress than either of them liked to admit.
"Yeah," She whispered, pressing her lips against his knuckles and then pulling back just a bit to look down at the crystal in her hands. Mushy stuff came with the benefit of making Zirconia recoil back into dormancy in addition to the comfort that came from physical contact with the knight.
"I promised to be Zirconia's host. I have her starseed as long as she's in this universe. So, if Cassandra bridges the gap, she can take Zirconia's starseed and put it back in her original body, and I can be human."
She turned the crystal over in her hands. "Just... don't know where to start."

"I don't know either, but I'm willing to help."
Luxor powered down, not thinking it was necessary to remain in his Squire get up now. Anyway, he always felt weird trying to carry a conversation in a skirt. He looked at the crystal now, examining it and shaking his head. He had no idea how they were going to find them, but she assumed Zirconia would have a plan.
"I already told you I will do what I can. And I told her as well. I might not know much about all of this, but... I want to see you back and whole... and her gone."
He was over the whole sharing bodies things, and could only hope that once her starseed was gone, Zia would be okay, and they would be able to live a normal enough life together. Not normal, there was no such thing in Destiny City, but still.
Close enough would do just fine.
