"I didn't plan on getting close to anyone either, I can say that much. Getting close to someone on this island felt like making some kind of death pact more than anything else." It was honest, he'd expected and prepared to be alone till the end of his short and violent days. "Sometimes it just ******** creeps up on you and there you are." he smirked. "Stuck. Its no so bad though."
Friends were another matter. "I've got more enemies than acquaintances unfortunately. Lot of people don't agree with my twitter views. " Or his views in general. "But that's neither here nor there."
He didn't swing again, merely gave Chance an approving nod. "You did really ******** well, most people can't handle hand-to-hand much at first, natural talent."

"My point exactly," said Chance, with a slight smile. "I currently don't see myself getting too close to anyone, but like you said, things like that just sort of happen whether you intend them to or not."
He gave a small shrug and got back to his feet, breathing a little more heavily than he had been before. He nearly tipped over, losing his balance momentarily, and then straightened, running a hand through his hair. "Your views are what they are," said Chance, and there was a faint note of amusement in his voice. "People will always find a way to take offense at things even if they're not offensive in the first place. That's why it's called taking offense, really, not giving offense."
He tilted his head to one side, and then the other, trying to work out some of the stiffness.
"Thanks," Chance said, and this time his smile was more apparent and less vague. "I don't really have a background in fighting, but I learned at least how to take care of myself at the home I was in."
A laugh escaped him. "I'm glad I could put at least some of my useless knowledge to work, though."

"Aye, if only they were a wee bit mair tolerant of other people with radical ******** views and didn't always want to convert people to theirs. If they could hand wave it, we'd get along a lot better."

"Good spar." he said with a pleasant nod to the other man. "Hope to get to fight you with weapons sometime too." He looked in the direction of the cafeteria. "Right noo though, I think I'm gonnae go have a piece and bacon, I saw they got a meat delivery in the other day and that never ******** lasts long."

"What is it about what they say that good opinions are good as long as they're not forced on others?" said Chance lightly, waving a hand in a noncommittal fashion. "Personally, I like people who know how they feel about things and who can still be people."
He stretched out his arms and then twisted his torso, working out some of the stiffness in his body, and then flashed Rep a smile.
"Thanks for helping a poor little new trainee like me out," he said. "I'm glad I got the chance to get some hand-to-hand experience, from one of the more experienced Suns, even if he kicked my a**," he added, and grinned, giving a little wave.
"You seem pretty cool, and plus we're in the same division, so I'll probably see you around, I think."
