America admired how carefully Mimsy held her science stuff, even though it was really ******** gross and weird. Almost like it was her own child, which maybe science was like that to the woman. Yes, obviously specimens were to be tended to with. Lawr's comments, as usually, were meant with scoffing eye rolls. "Us lil ladies could kick your a** and most anything else's, pardner. So just stay out of the way if something attacks, or better yet, try running to see if it'll give chase." With a huff, the girl turned her attention back to Mimsy who talking science that...she understood. Nature stuff. "Think there might be a queen of sort?" Quote: 41 - 60: A bag of dried fruit and stale bread lies in a corner alongside an abandoned backpack that turns out, if examined, to contain supplies for impromptu urban exploration, but no identification. The dust is studded with dozens and dozens of rats' pawprints, but the food is entirely untouched. Going further in, they come upon more signs that people had once been down this was and likely hadn't lived to tell the tale. "Looks more and more like we got an extermination job on our hands, what say you?" She looked at Mimsy, Lawrence ignored once more.

At the very idea that a child could have done all of this, Lawr looked gravely concerned. "I should hope not doc." he said. "That would just be too much horror for this here cowboy, ah've already lost so much. 'sides, kiddos ain't usually that strong."
More maggots this time were met with internal indifference but external upset, the Death hunter seemed shaken to say the least by where they found themselves and the sheer number of bugs present.
He found himself mostly looking for moths.
When America boasted that the two of them could kick his a** he looked scandalised. "Ah'm sure you likely could missy, you and your lovely friend. Ahm just not the physical kind of guy. But ah do my best, given the handicaps I've been dealt." Behind his eyes he wanted to sink his teeth into her jugular and Butch agreed.
he snarled, the sound interspersed with wet, meaty breathing. And he dissolved into incomprehensible flickers of rage, interspersed with strange abstract imagery of teeth, of the smell of blood and of thoughts which made no sense.
He did not bite America - because that would be stupid, until she was weak.
The bag of stale food was yet another item in this winding rabbit warren of corridors which caught his senses, for an abandoned place it seemed like many individuals made the - probably fatal - mistake of coming down here.
"Looks to me like there was already an extermination job down here." he said grimly.
And then there was the sound, a low scuffling scrabbling shuffle, it held his attention, looking up from the bag into the gloom where he could see nothing. It was gradual, slowly rotating as it approached, a gruesome gathering of rats, all teeth, fear and unnatural size. They completely blocked the way.
"Oh rats." he said, calmly.
Quote: 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - The sound of scrabbling paws is faint at first, but soon grows into a din punctuated with the chatter of many, many oversized teeth. The beast that manifests is a King Rat: a writhing mass of rodents joined by the tails, so that the teeth all face outwards. This is clearly a creature of FEAR, not of nature: each rat is substantially larger than the average dog, their beady eyes gleam bloodthirsty and manic, and the entire unit moves with a cohesiveness that suggests a hivemind at work. They (or it) fully block the tunnel ahead.

America glared at Lawrence in accusation, because <********, that was pretty funny. Summoning Stryker, she charged at the creature, flail spinning in quick, golden arcs. The Moon smashed it once, then twice, set on taking it down quickly instead of simply playing defense. Neither Mimsy or Lawrence were battle-centric, and she had a feeling she'd have to make up the difference. HP: 52 Dmg: 15 Charge: 1/3 Boss HP: 85

Attacking again, America was thrown back, painfully before she could do much damage. Hissing softly and trying not to actually look at the ******** thing for too long, she glanced at Lawrence. "Don't suppose you'll be any ******** help at all?" HP: 44 Dmg: 1 Charge: 2/3 Boss HP: 84 nothing yet rolling again because America is a shameless aggro

As America stepped up, Lawrence himself stepped back, watching as the strange creature took chunks out of the huntress' shield, He made no move to summon Butch (despite the weapon's snarls and pleas to the contrary)
"Are you asking me missy?" he said, coolly.

Slipping a bandage out as she caught her breath, America looked him up and down, clearly dismissing him. "Naw. Just figuring out exactly how useless you're gonna be." The bandage was a piece of s**t. HP: 45 Bandage: 1 Charge: 2/3

"Ya always wound me missy. But if you are sure that you don't need my help. I wouldn't want to get in the way, you know."
He smiled just a little at the feeble pulse of the bandage. "Life division should perhaps stop recruiting coots."

Which is why," she dodged back from snapping teeth, not quite swift enough, "I'm gonna request you no be on any of my future mission teams!" "You do simply need to ask." he said. Summoning in front of Mimsy was not much of an issue, she did not present a threat in his mind the same way other people did. He found individuals strongly centered on science and logic far more agreeable than those with inclinations towards being emotional.
He summoned Butch with a lazy shrug of his shoulders and stepped forward to swipe deftly with his normally hand-less, presently taloned arm at the encroaching rats.
"A little politeness goes a long way missy."

Compressing her lips, America decided to take the fact that he even summoned his weapon as a small victory. But not quite enough to get her through this. Taking a deep breath she gave Stryker the go ahead, and immediately the fiery form of a phoenix burst from the weapon. It went high and circled around, before crashing into her and engulfing the girl in fire. When the flames died out, they left her looking more vivid and refreshed than moments before. Lawrence stepped back again as the phoenix materialized, but not for long, once again moving back to where he had been prior when it dissipated. It was obvious however that he was not quite giving it one hundred percent effort - after all, he had a casual cowboy reputation to maintain.
"It simply wouldn't be you missy if it didn't involve the kind of showboating that would make a hollywood celebrity blush."
Butch was thrilled that he was getting to fight, even if not perhaps as offensively as he might have liked. Still, he got to bite the rats, to taste their fear, and this just seemed to push him to new levels of eager bloodlust.

"Damn right," America confirmed, not even a bit ashamed. Occasionally inconvenienced? Yes. Ashamed? No, not at all. And then he, shockingly, did a fairly decent job of defending her. Unfortunately her attack was less impressive. Tightening her jaw, America refocused. HP: 51 (bless u lawr, just this once) Dmg: 1 Charge: 1/3 Boss HP: 77

Lawr was rather enjoying not having to hit anything offensively, instead he got to move around America while she did the bulk of the work and here and there swipe at any snapping rat faces that got too close. Butch was going completely crazy in his head and he found himself wondering, not for the first time if he was a terrier. " You're welcome." he said, mimicking her own comment to him in the past. The runes on his talons lit up brightly. HP: 50 DEF: 7 Target: America Charge: 3/3

"Thank you, much," America answered as politely as she could while slamming Stryker's form into several heads. It was odd, being protected by him. Her pride wanted to tell him to ******** off, but it was the wrong sort of pride for a mission, most particularly a battlefield. It was galling as ********, but she'd take his defense and she'd be ******** grateful for it. HP: 50 Dmg: 8 Charge: 2/3 Boss HP: 69

It felt oddly satisfying to be doing this, he found himself thinking. Satisfying in the way getting another person into crippling debt might be.
"Maybe I should join moon, missy." he said and smirked.
