Mention of the weapons golems had a blonde brow arching upward, and Warrick gave an interested thrum through her mind. She had yet to really look into that aspect of the Life divisions, though had always meant to. Something or another always seemed to get in the way, much to Warrick's chagrin. He longed for a chance to stretch his legs properly, and he gave his partner a very pointed mental prod. Alright, alright. I'll look into it.Now wasn't the time for any internal debate, not with Chance keeping close, dragging the sharp head of an arrow across her shield. She hopped back, arms up and ready, but when she slashed out at him she caught only the bow. At least he was enjoying himself though, that was always a plus, especially for a Sun. So I've noticed.
But Chance wasn't particularly bothered by Peyton's brutal assault; in fact, he rather appreciated the fact that she hadn't held back on his account. It was better to get experience now, when he was a trainee, then to be faced with it later and be entirely unprepared.
"What do you people do for fun around here?" he asked lightly, Chance dragging another arrow into existence and notching it against the wire.

"Well," she started, bouncing on her toes as she circled him. "All depends on your idea of fun. There's a bar, if you're into that. The AV guy has movies, and he might let you borrow a laptop if you're real nice to him. There's the library, as though all the best reading books you'll wanna get from Kostya's collection, we've all donated quite a lot to it." Snapping in, she delivered a quick jab at his stomach, wrist turning as she did to drag the blade along his shield before jerking back again, going on the defensive. "Though, if you wanna anything more than that, you'll have to save your pennies and buy things, or make friends with someone that already has something you're after. Some of us have TVs and dvd players, some have video games, radios, all kinds of goodies." A beat, then she was grinning. "What do you consider fun?" HP: 38 DMG: 7

He rolled his neck, contemplating this. "Drinks, yes, bar scenes...not so much. Bars are notorious for places where people do stupid things and get into fights and make a lot of noise while stirring up s**t, so while I do like a drink, not enough that I'd spend all my time at a bar."
Chance flashed her a smile. "Movies are good, and books. I do like reading, though mostly historical things, facts, you know. I used to work in a bookstore before I came here."
A low hum of thought escaped his throat. "Not much. I'm not really all that exciting, to be honest," he said, stringing an arrow into the bow's wire almost absently. "I like space, and factual reading. Tattoos, art, I guess, though it's just a hobby."

"I hear you there." Peyton was certainly more social now than she had been in the past, but there were times she still found crowds to be quite exhausting. Small doses were fine, like the party on Halloween, but she was not a frequent patron, that was for sure. "Well," she offered easily. "It sounds to me like you'll have no problem keeping yourself occupied in your free time." All good hobbies that were very easy to indulge on island. "I like reading too." She grinned. "And tattoos. They're sort of addicting, hmm?" The smaller Sun darted in again, forcing his bow arm out to the side with one hand before bringing the other up in a solid connect against his stomach. Not her blade, but her knuckles and the ring of her dagger. HP: 36 DMG: 11 but dampeners, so 9

Chance was grateful for the fact that, although he lived in the regular dormitory hallway on the first floor, he was far enough away from the middle that it was relatively quiet on his end. Not that he particularly minded being around people, but the fact that he had an option for time to himself was pleasant.
"Good to know," said Chance lightly. "Tattoos are sort of just something I rather like to have, though I do admit that sometimes I get a little carried away."
Like the current web of stars he was in the process of getting from Zac on the left side of his ribs. They were still sort of tender, which made the fact that Peyton's next hit slamming into his torso all the more painful. Chance let out a wheezing gasp and dropped instantly, collapsing onto the ground with a hand pressed against his midsection.
He lay there on his back for a few minutes, contemplating, and then said mildly, "That was pretty damn impressive."

"Gunna stay down?" She mused, coming to stand over him, matching that easy smile with one of her own. The compliment was meant with a grin, almost cheeky, then she was offering a hand down to him so she could haul him back to his feet again. If he wanted, that is. "You'll get there." It was reassuring, encouraging. "Given time and hard work, you're bond with your weapon will grow, and you'll be able to hit like a wrecking ball, and then some." Stronger, faster, better healing. All the wonderful perks that came along with having another being sharing your head space. "You should give Box a poke," she suggested after a beat. "He's specialty is long ranged, specifically with a bow. If you think I'm impressive, he'll blow you away." Possibly literally. The albino was strong. "Another Sun. He's tall and pale, white hair, with a sleeveless flack jacket for a coat.

"I could," said Chance mildly, giving Peyton a smile as she stepped over him. "Claude keeps telling me I like to get acquainted with the ground during our own spars, after all. Maybe I just like the grass, it's really very comfortable."
But he reached up and accepted her offered hand, wrapping his fingers around hers and hauling himself to his feet. Chance brushed stray strands of grass from his clothes and passed an amused look in Peyton's direction. He swept a hand through his mess of curly hair.
"I've heard of that guy," he said. "You're the second person to recommend him, I'll have to figure out who this Bix guy is and go ask him to give me a few tips. It'd be nice to find someone else with a long range weapon, let alone a bow like my own."

She chuckled as she got him to his feet. "Well, I can't really fault your logic, it is pretty comfortable." When she let him go her hands disappeared into her pockets, and she rocked back on her heels. "He's really nice, really likes working with trainees." Bix was great, not just as an expert on ranged weapons, but he took his role as mentor very seriously. He'd even taken a bunch of newly awakened trainees on a tour of the island with Peyton and Stormy assisting. "A little on the goofy side, and really energetic, but still super nice." On the subject of bows, there were a few more names she could toss out. "If you wanna work with other hunters with bows, there are quite a few. "Chelsea Craft, she's a full hunter in sun. Pink hair, pink scarf. There's also Heidi Potter, she's in moon, intermediate. And there's Cami, she's also in Sun, and also an intermediate. They're all pretty nice." Well, the latter two for sure. Admittedly she'd only really talked to Chels a few times, and one of those times they'd been fighting in the tourney.

Chance's bow dissipated in a gust of cold, white air, reforming a second later as the snowflake-shaped pin on the front of his shirt. He swept a hand through his curls and then smiled. "I'm sure in a place like Deus, 'a little goofy' is what people need."
One hand lifted, went to his side as he absently massaged his ribcage, wincing only the slightest. "So...what you're saying is," he said, with some amusement. "is that all the people who are archers on the island are all female, with the exception of this Bix dude."
Chance gave a thoughtful nod. "How very interesting."

Goof was good. Sometimes life on the island could be too serious, too hard, and something light hearted was not only good, but needed. Her smile faltered though as he mentioned the male to female ratio in archers, and with a blink she thought it over, went over the names again in her head, searched for any she might have missed, and after a long handful of seconds her shoulders ticked up in a slight shrug. "I guess so? I honestly hadn't thought about it before. Huh." Amused now, her eyes rolled up, thoughtful again, before she relented with a shake of her head. "Looks that way." Granted, she didn't know everyone on the island. Maybe there were a more archers out there that she hadn't met yet. "That is pretty interesting. You make two males though. So the numbers are starting to even up a little."
