The sudden pull caused a new wave of pain to travel along Minna's spine, and he yowled both in pain and frustration as he found himself being pulled loose from the cursed. As a last, desperate attempt to regain his spot before he became too weary to fight any longer, he arched his back and tried to claw mercilessly at the spiked tail holding him partially aloft.

Pierce started to try to get back up as his tail started to pull him off, but he just didn't have the energy anymore. "Oogh, I think you win, kitty," he says, not really even noticing his tail getting clawed up in the process as he flops back down and passes out.
