She was aware of nothing. Just black, and silent. Until the ringing in her ears started. There were muffled voices around her, or maybe it was just one voice... She opened her eyes a slit and the light pierced her eyes and suddenly her entire body ached and stung. She closed her eyes again and groaned softly. There was that voice again.. Something was wrong, she just couldn't place it...but the pain was quickly chasing away the fog of disorientation and dulling the ringing in her ears.

"W-Wild Moon?" she said, then tried again a little louder since the first time she could barely hear herself. "W-what happened? Are you okay?" she asked all at once, panic starting to become clear in her voice. Something was very seriously wrong. She opened her eyes again, squinting against the light. "Is that Twinkle? Is she okay?"

As if to answer Sweetie Belle's question, Twinkletoes began to shift back. It was definitely Twinkletoes in his arms.

She groaned as the cuts and other relative pains stayed with her. Her head almost immediately began pounding far worse than anything she'd ever felt. She was ready for it, but that still did little to help.

What would come as a surprise to Wild Moon - Twinkletoes didn't flinch or even seemed to register that Sweetie Belle had shouted at all. She clutched her head and whimpered softly - as per the usual when shifting back - and rested her head on Wild Moon's shoulder. Her eyes squinted to look out, but the smell of smoke overpowered her. She definitely smelled it long before she saw it.

"Smoke...?" she started in a louder tone than her usual then shook her head while pressing fingers to her temples. She was still not sure if she was even saying the words. She couldn't hear herself even murmur anything! In a small fit of panic, her fingers rested on both her cheek and her throat. "Smoke!"

The vibrations were there.... Yeah - she was saying words.

To follow up her comment, she tapped Wild Moon's nose. "It's there!! I smell it! Can't you?!" she practically shouted, then scrambled to stand. She needed to get to the tree. THEY needed to get to the tree. To their family. Using all the force she could muster, she stood, hands returning to her temples as the migraine throbbed on.

That's when her eyes finally saw the smoke. The tree... No wonder why her soul felt like it had burned a piece of it away. Her body then froze for a moment, eyes wide despite the migraine protesting it.

Mom! Dad. Moony...? Please be ok....

No matter how much she insisted that she was fine, the healers still hadn't let her go free yet. Confined to the bed for 'rest and recovery', the dark-colored pegasus had proven to be a difficult and antsy patient. At least visitors helped to break up the boredom.

Sitting up in her cot, she fiddled with the blanket with her fingers, looking thoughtfully at her visiting friend. "Tell me more."

"The notice just went up," the lupine Faun at her bedside replied. "Something about expanding, recruiting more Faun to serve as more than just rangers. Sure looks like it was related to you."

"Heh..." Sure seemed that way, didn't it? Though, there'd been murmurs before. Maybe she was the catalyst though. Moonlight nodded solemnly, then flicked her gaze up to Ranuin. "Hopefully they wait just long enough for me to get out of this stupid sickbed. I just might be interested in learning to dish out a little payback."

"Now, Moony--"

The reprimand would go unheard, as the rest of Ranuin's statement was interrupted by a thunderous explosion, the shock wave shaking all of Laisidhiel, even as far as the infirmary where they visited. Spurred by instinct, Ranuin threw himself forward, onto the cot in an attempt to shield Moony from anything coming from the direction of the door. Neither had any idea what was going on, but the noise from outside was cacophonous.

When the shaking stopped, both their ears were ringing painfully and everything sounded as if it were coming from far away and possibly underwater. A disorienting sensation, for sure. They had less concern about that though, and more for the near-crippling pain that hit them both simultaneously.

Moony gasped, clutching at her chest. She felt as if....a piece of herself had been suddenly ripped away. A swift glance at Ranuin showed that he had felt it too. "What...what was that?"

"Don't know," Ranuin coughed, shaking his head grimly. "But nothing good, that's for sure. I'm going to find out."

"Wait for me! I'm coming too!" Moonlight started after her retreating friend, shoving away the blankets to swing her legs over the side of the cot.

"No! Stay put!" he snapped at her with a snarl.

Though the volume was muffled, the sharp order was surprising enough that Moony did just that, freezing with one hoof hovering over the ground. "I...alright..." She retreated back to her blankets for the time being, watching Ranuin nod at her curtly, then run off. He'd never growled at her like that before...

Ranuin emerged into the main Tree into chaos. Billowing clouds of dust impeded his attempts to breathe, prompting a coughing fit. His dark eyes scanned the scene, but he could only see so far through the smoke and haze. He did catch sight however of a dark shape, falling through the haze, and the flutter of feathers. Alarmed, he was spurred to action, racing down the ramp towards the ground floor, leaping over debris along the way.

He found himself jealous of his hooved brethren as he attempted to pick his way carefully across the main floor. Burning, jagged debris littered the floor, reaching out for his delicate foot pads from the camouflaging haze. Hissing, he drew up one paw from the pain, leaping over a burning section of what had once been part of the wall. The settling dust had started to obscure a dark form huddled on the ground, but a bright stripe of golden hair shown like a beacon, drawing the lupine Faun forward. He dropped to his knees beside the sprawled pegasus. He didn't know her personally, but he thought he'd seen her around before. Jet black fur with a bright golden stripe in her mane and tail. He was surprised to find her curled protectively around a pair of twins. "Miss? Can you hear me?" He reached out to touch her gingerly, unsure how she could have hurt herself in the fall. He didn't want to injure her further...but...he couldn't leave her lying here long with the smoke and fires scattered about. Ranuin held a hand near her nose and mouth, frozen with anticipation...then relaxing noticeably when he detected just the slightest movement of air. She was alive!

Trying to smile reassuringly at the tots cradled safely in her arms, he spoke louder than normal, hoping he'd be heard. "Hold on. I'll be right back, okay?" He stood and looked around the area. searching for some idea, something to tell him what to do. Maybe he could move her safely somehow...hopefully not injure her further. His gaze flickered toward a source of nearby movement...the violent lashings of another Faun sprawled on the ground. Eyes widening in alarm, he rushed towards this new subject, noting it was a dark, earthen-toned male peg--wait, no...alicorn? He wasn't sure now which one he may have seen falling. Taking a wide circle around the lashing hooves, he shouted to be heard, "Sir? Sir! Keep calm! I'm here to help!""

Help...already he'd found two Fauny in desperate need of help, with likely many more, and already he was feeling overwhelmed. What could he do? Simple, Ranuin...get them to the infirmary to others who know how to help. Resolve fixing his expression, he crouched near the male's head, reaching for one of his hands to see if he could calm the thrashing in order to help further.

Enki hadn't been that far away when the explosion hit. He had been lounging in a tree after finishing his lunch, thinking quietly to himself about what he should find for Zecora. Should he try to find her some herbs for her shop or get her some flowers? Could he find something much better? What could he do to make her smile today?

He heard a loud sound and then not a second after his very core was hit with a pain he had never felt before. He curled up while wrapping his arms around his stomach, loosing balance in the process. He hit the ground with a loud thump though this seemed to be the least of his worries. In his head he could only hear the scream echoing. He coughed a few times before struggling to his knees, only to bent over to vomit. So much for lunch...He wiped his mouth before getting to his feet. That scream, that voice. He knew that voice. He had heard it only once before, very faintly. This time. This time was different. He looked up towards Laisidhiel to see black smoke rising from that direction and he mind went blank. He scampered to his and took to the air as fast as he could, heading to the great tree. It wasn't a question for him. Something had happened. Something bad. He needed to get there.

It felt like he was flying forever before he reached the island that Laisidhiel sat upon. Front the view, the front seemed fine but the smoke was still in the sky. He bit his bottom lip as he slowly flew to the other side of great tree. He nearly fell to the ground as he saw the damage that had been done, the hole, the fires, everything. Enki landed on the ground as he desperately tried to work through what he should do. There were the injured, that was for sure but he wasn't a healer and...The fires. If they didn't get the fires out soon there'd be more damage done. They needed water, and lots off it.

Enki's eyes fell on some movement. There was a blue male with golden hair with a fauny and a fox. He seemed to be unscratched and the fauny beside him seemed to be coming to. He didn't have much time to question the fox turning into a faun, but she did seem to get feet. Good enough. "Hey!" He yelled to the trio before dashing towards them, skidding to a halt a few feet before him. In all the adrenalin he had forgotten how different he looked. He put his hands forward and almost coward slightly, trying to show the three he wasn't going to harm them. "Are you guys ok? I'm here to help..." He looked back to the tree before pointing towards it. "Fire." He looked back to the group again. "We need to put out the fires and moved the injured before it gets worst." He had to yell over the noises coming from the tree. Oh great Artemis let them believe him just this once...

User ImageThe white haired faun had been heading down stairs when the explosion happened. The force of the blast knocked him off his feet and slammed him into something. His ears where ringing and a wave of pain crashed over him and settling over his heart. What air he had left was hissed out in pain as he tried to force himself to his feet.

His body ached and he had several pieces of wood stuck into him, the pain made it hard to move and he was rather confused for a moment trying to figure out what happened when he saw the hole in the back of the great tree and fires burning around it. His eyes traveled upward and he noticed that the damage had hit the nooks His heart dropped into his stomach when he noticed it, Melanthios was up in their nook, the pupa could have been injured in the blast. That fear in mind the Faun ignored the pain of his protesting injuries as best he could as he tried to get to his nook. Luckily his mask had manged to stay in once piece although there was some minor damage. The faun placed it on his head, hardening his skin and turning it into bark. While it would not stop his bleeding it would offer some protection if there was a second attack on the tree.

The faun was gasping for air as he finally made it up to his nook and crashed into the room. Items where strewn everywhere, papers and glass littered the floor. Entering the child's room the wood covered faun was relived to see that the pupa appeared uninjured and was miraculously still having from the ceiling. It seemed to be swaying slightly from side to side, wither it was because the blast wave had caused it to swing a bit and it was finally starting to return to an unmoving position or if it was the pae inside, Eachann couldn't say.

He let out a shaky breath of relief and slowly stepped towards the pupa, stumbling a bit as the adrenalin started to ware off. The bark on his hand faded and it turned back to skin as he gently placed his hand on the pupa. "Hey, its okay, I'm here now." The words coming out in an unintended whisper. He was unsure if Melanthios could hear him while he a pupa but the faun liked to talk to him anyways.

Feeling his knees shake the faun sat down with a thud. He knew he should probably seek medical attention but how could he leave Melanthios here when the blue-black and orange pae was currently defenseless. He had no idea what he would do if the flames ended making it over to them.

It had been a normal day for the pupa slumbering unaware of what was going on around it. Suddenly however a soul searing pain washed through the pae. If he had been awake and able to move instead of safely wrapped up and deep asleep, Melanthios would have been trashing around and screaming as the pain flared through his body. Outwardly there was little sign that the pupa had felt anything at all, inwardly however the pae's subconscious could tell something was wrong. What ever dream he had been having before was gone, replaced with a flashing roar of fire. Leaves, fire, burning things and a great tree that looked like Laisidhiel swirled around his dreamscape. Unable to do anything in his deep slumber the pupa, continued to dream unsure if what he was seeing was just a dream or if something was happening outside his closed up little world.

Another day, another hundred bowls. At least that's what it felt like to Takis. He'd prepared the ceremonial bowls for most of the Faunies, and also their living quarters, but with the influx of population came an influx of children, and so he was having to prepare bowls and spaces for them. The Tree-Shaper's work was never done, but lately he seemed to throw himself into it more than usual.

He'd just finished stacking up a set of new bowls when the blast hit. It came as a low rumble at first, and Takis thought it might have been an earthquake. Deep in Laisidhiel as he was, when the shockwaves finally came to his workshop, he'd had time to dive under his table. This shielded him from the blast, but nothing could protect him from what followed.

Pain. Searing, blinding pain that made him clamp his hands over his temples, fearing they were bleeding. He was doubled over, on his knees. Waves of nausea rolled over him, and yet he staggered to his hooves, leaning heavily on his workbench for support. The only way to stop this pain, he knew, was to find the source of Her pain and stop it. He was the Tree Shaper, the Tree healer. Possibly the only one who could put a stop to it.

Calling on his connection with the Great Tree, he narrowed his focus and tried to forget all else. He ignored the pain and ran out the door and straight up the wall toward the source of what must be a grave injury to their home and protector. Takis ran past many Faun who were fleeing, and many Faun who were injured. He wanted to stop and help, but he knew the best way to help would be to leave them to the healers and focus on his own mission. Many there were who could heal Faun...only he could heal the Tree.

At last he reached the site of the...explosion? Who could have done such a thing? Immediately he set to healing. He pressed his hands to Laisidhiel's flesh, still burning. It seared his hands, but that pain was like a drop in the sea of what he was already feeling. The hole was gaping. It could take months to repair the damage. But his work for now was to heal, to lessen Her pain and thus his pain and the pain every Faun on the island felt. Slowly he moved his hands over the worst-damaged parts. He pressed his arms, legs, and hooves against Laisidhiel's burning wounds, hoping that by using more of himself, more of the Tree would be healed. It was a slow process, but he made progress.

Something in the back of his head needled at him. It felt like worry, but he couldn't pinpoint it and he didn't have time to allow it to distract him.

Vanya hobbled along, mostly under her own power, but with definite aid from the Chieftain. She was favoring one side...she didn't think there would be much permanent damage done...but it was the side that had impacted the wall when she'd been thrown, so at best, she'd be expecting some serious bruising and soreness for some time.

She would be luckier than many others.

She could feel the pain, not just from Laisidhiel, but from each of their brethren they passed. Fear, pain, confusion, fury...a whirling storm of emotions nearly as staggering to the Seer as the blast had been physically. She kept tripping up, catching her hooves on debris as she walked. Rais would catch her if she stumbled, but there was little else she could do to avoid such things without her staff to 'see' and her ears still ringing from the blast. Any spoken warnings went unheard.

Moving slowly through the burning debris, the Chieftain was painting a picture of the damage done, to the Tree, but also directly to his people. Unconscious forms, others awake, but bleeding...some tossed and battered...others still in unknown status. The haze over his vision increased; but it may not have been due to the smoke in the air. No, the edges of his vision tinted red as his eyes lit upon the damage done. What...or who would dare do such harm to HIS people?!?

This would not stand. He would not stand for it! If he had to hunt down those responsible himself, and take matters into his own hands, he would! For now, he reigned in his fury, though it was getting more and more challenging the closer they moved towards the focal point. A gaping hole in the back of Laisidhiel, open to the world beyond, currently marked by flames still licking around the edges of the new opening, and an absence of much else close by, as the blast had thrown debris in all directions outward. No, there was something...someone else. A swift moving shape, cutting through the chaos and heading straight for the worst of the damage. Rais' eyes narrowed in recognition...a daunting task indeed lay before the unfortunate Tree Shaper. His efforts would aid them all, however, so they should do what they could for the rest.

Already, healers were being brought to the worst cases that couldn't be moved. Spotting one such fauness, the Chieftain beckoned her over and shifted the Seer from his side to hers. "Take care of the Lady. Mind her head. Think it's just a cut, but I'll leave that to your expertise." Nodding to the healer once she had the Seer supported, Rais slipped away. Business to do.

Muffled murmurs, as if from a great distance...was Rais speaking? Yes, that must be what it was. Her hearing was still not working correctly, but even this improvement was something over the silence and nothingness. She felt herself being handed off to another. There was too much turmoil in the area as well as in her mind for her to focus her Sight as skillfully as she normally would, but she recognized the other aura as one of the Tree's healers. The Chieftain was already moving away, likely towards the source of all the chaos. She felt another presence nearby amongst the others, one off in the direction the Chief had gone, towards the worst of the pain and the fear.

Frowning, though her inclination was to move closer, she was having enough issues just holding her ground and so stayed where she was. She had turned away from the healer, however, reaching out questioningly. "...Takis?"

The jagged new opening gaped like a gruesome wound, bleeding fire and sap. Forcing down the sickness and rage that broiled within his core, the Chieftain continued to move forwards, into the open area immediately before the blast site. He watched the Shaper's efforts, then turned back watching injured and fallen Faun being checked by those more able. Someone would pay for this. He would make sure of it. His own hearing still returning, he wasn't sure if any would be able to hear him, but they couldn't waste any more time. He stepped into a clear area amongst the rubble, clearing his throat and waving away the smoke and dust before taking a deep breath. A single stomp sent a ripple though the ground beneath their hooves and the Chieftain of the Faun raised his voice over the chaos.

"CHILDREN OF LAISIDHIEL, TO ME!"

Those that couldn't hear him would feel the call to attention. After a moment to draw the eyes of those in the immediate area, Rais continued, "Hunters, warriors, and rangers to me! We have no time to lose! Search for suspicious Pae in the area! Don't let them get far! All other able-bodied Faun will lend a hand here. Get to the fountains for water to aid the Shaper in getting these fires out. Healers, there's plenty of work to be done to save those in need here!"

He had feared that one day it would come to this. He'd tried to make preparations...but too slow. The foe had moved too quickly and caught the Faun unprepared. For now, all they could do was dig in, as the Earth, to endure and survive.

His people had been attacked. As the Chieftain waited for any able-bodied fighters to join him, he clenched his fists at his side in frustration. He had waited too long. Moved too slowly. This was his fault. They should have been prepared for attack...all these centuries, and it seemed their foe remained determined to bring the fight to their door. Very well. Rais wondered silently if they were prepared for the wrath of the Earth.

Wild Moon sat up, turning towards Sweetie Belle as she came too, running his hand along her cheek and brushing her curls back. "Oh thank goodness you are alright." he said, peering into her green eyes, the sound of her voice, even if muddled from the chaos, a heaven sent right now. "I think the tree has been attacked....I think Twinkle was caught in the blast." he said fretfully, glancing down as his sister began to shift back.

"Twinkle, no, wait!" he had wanted to tell her. He would have allowed her to rest in his arms, carried her anywhere, even tied to heal her himself had it been night time, but just like his mother, his healing powers only worked under certain circumstances. His frown turned deeper as she clutched her head and whimpered, but he continued to stroke her head as she tried to speak. He noticed how confused she looked, and her voice was a lot louder than usual. "Twinkle why are you shouting...." he had begun to ask when it finally sank in what she was saying. The nose boop helped to top it off, and his eyes trailed back over to the tree.

Smoke. Fire.

Pulling himself to his feet after his sister, he reached down to wrap his arm around Sweetie Belle's waist, helping her up and tugging her to him. He then turned and placed a firm hand on his sister's shoulder, stopping her from going anywhere. He spun her around, grasping her head in both his hands, mouthing out the words slowly. "You. Need. To. Rest." he said firmly, though a deep fiery anger began to flicker in his own eyes.

First Moony had been attacked, nearly killed. His aunt had sustained injuries in effort to help his sister. Now his baby sister, Twinkletoes, his sweet quiet, sensitive little sister not only had been hurt in some kind of explosion..... but now her hearing was gone as well?! How anyone would want to do this was beyond him, and the idea alone had him in a fit of shakes. Before he even knew it he had lost all control, now standing on four long lanky legs, a thick mane of fur streamed down his neck, a growl rumbling in his throat. His canine ears flicked to the sound of a new voice, the maned wolf spun around, golden gaze landing on the ash colored figure of.....not...a...faun...

Defensively, he flung himself in front of both the girls, a harsh growl continuously rumbling in the back of his throat. His hackles were raised and his fangs were bared. He let out several loud, almost echoing warning roar barks, taking a step forward as if to try to scare them off before he realized the other one was cowering....and claiming he was here to help? Wild Moon had not seen anyone like this strange pae, and to say he was letting his emotions get the best of him was an understatement. The temptation to attack was far to great. One bite to the neck and.........

A sudden vibration rippled below his paws, startling him and distracting his attention over towards the Chieftain....

The blast had happened long before Fluttershy could make sense of what she had previously been doing, her head spinning and her chest burning. She couldn't remember being hurt, but she felt as if she had just lost a part of her and it stung deeper than any cut or wound she had ever felt. Tears streamed down her face as she lay for a moment, cuddled into the thick fur of her Grizzly friend she had found thanks to these strange new powers she had. His deep rumble and a frantic chittering brought her back to reality.

Fluttershy gazed around, smoke filling her room. Panic had started to set in now as she tried to scramble out of the bear's arms at first, only to be held back by the massive claw. "Oh Fuzzy....." her voice broke in a soft sob, reaching up to gently brush her fingers through his fur, knocking splinters askew. The frantic chittering alerted her again and she spun around, spotting Mister Nanners bent over a still white Angel bunny. "ANGEL!!" she screeched, rushing over and scooping up the little rabbit, who was by all means playing it up for attention...which it worked. His fur was only just slightly singed on his back, not enough to do real damage, but that didn't stop Fluttershy's own anger mixing in with that she felt from the tree. To top it off, Buttercream had a slight limp and the fish was going crazy in hiw bowl.

"Come." she hissed softly, scooping up the bowl in which Kirk swam frantically in circles. "Mister Nanners. You hold him. And don't. You. Dare. Drop. Him." she chided the monkey, gently passing off the rabbit to him (to which Angel made a great fuss, but was otherwise unable to really move thanks to the monkey's tight grasp). She then picked up Buttercream, and with the help of Fuzzy, mounted his back. "Out Fuzzy! Get outside!" she told him, clutching as best she could onto the back of the bear, keeping her head low and bending herself over her critters to try to keep them from inhaling dangerous amounts of smoke.

The bear wasted no time in tearing out of the room and down the stairs, making a direct line towards the opening of the tree. As the pair burst through the cloud of smoke, Fluttershy flung her head back sending her long pink locks whipping the air, her eyes narrowed.

"WHO DID THIS? WHO HURT MY FRIENDS?!!!"

Sweetie Belle blushed a little at Wild Moon's concern. "Yes, love, I'm fine, what about you? What about Twinkle?" she didn't see anything that looked worse than scratches on him, which set her mind at ease. Well, at least about Wild Moon. She squeaked a little when the fox in his arms shifted back; she'd never seen anyone do that before. "Smoke...?" Once it was pointed out, of course she could smell it. "Oh no, the Tree!" she gasped, a hand to her mouth as she looked toward the smoke and fire where so many faun lived. She hoped no one was severely hurt, or worse! How could anyone do such a thing to someone's home??

Her hearing was still off; she didn't see Wild Moon transform until he gave those barks, alerting her that something was wrong. She shifted a bit, moving more in front of Twinkletoes. She didn't know this new pae and he looked out of place in the forest so close to the faun's home. She didn't get much time to think about him before feeling the weirdest tingle run through her. Her attention went the same way as Wild Moon's. Chieftain Rais was calling everyone home.

Twinkletoes was nearly frozen in a panic. Her body ached, hurt and felt burned all over. Small trickles in her fur here and there alerted her of possibly bleeding from more than one wound along her side. Her eyes were fixed on the tree and the giant gaping wound at it's back spewing smoke.

Her home... Their home! It was hurt. It was crying in agony - much like her body...

She flinched as Wild Moon's hand touched her shoulder. She gasped and spun to look at him. Her eyes watered and started small streams in the fur of her cheeks. It was so weird to have someone legitimately sneak up on her. She always heard everything! But now... she couldn't even hear herself breathe.

Her wide eyes stared at him, shifting down to his lips as he mouthed for her to read.

'You. Need. To. Rest.'

"No..." she shook her head, tears streaming further. "But... But Mom. Dad and Moon--!"

He shifted before she could protest further. She always felt safer with his wolf form beside her... but today was just different. Everything made her panic.

A flash of color caught her periferal and she snapped her gaze to Enki. His words went ignored as her hearing was impaired for the time being. However, her gaze quickly scanned him, eyes widening a moment as things began piecing together.

Silver.... Shadows... Blue eyes... leathery wings!!

She gasped and growled in her own way, stepping forward by gently putting an arm in front of Sweetie Belle and leaving Wild Moon in the front. He was more ferocious anyways... Ignoring the sway her body made of the migraine forcing itself upon her, she growled again. "Get away from us!!" she cried out. All form of reason completely gone for the moment. Of course she didn't think to detain the Pae. She wanted him gone! The smoke filling the area masked his scent so she wouldn't have been able to pinpoint him as a completely different pae. Her throbbing brain did as much as it could to have picked out what little detail she did already..."Haven't you cause enough da--"

The earth rumbled under her hooves. The vibrations pinging into her very soul. Calling her. Drawing her attention back home. She spun on her hooves, watering eyes focusing on the tree again.

"Laisidhiel..." she whispered under her breath. Then without warning - and also ignoring the warnings of her body threatening to collapse - she took off, running for the tree as fast as her legs could muster.

"MOM!!" she panted, closing the gap between where they were and the entrance of the tree entirely. "DAD!!"

Who would have known Twinkle would also posses the power of the Royal Canterlot voice....?

User ImageThings were less chaotic outside the tree, at least for a while. The blast which had done so much damage inside the Tree had dissipated into the atmosphere outside without much effect except to those in the immediate vicinity. Physically, anyway. For the bands of hunters dispersed around Laisidhiel's island, a savage otherworldly wound was dealt, and felt. And for Kilot, bow in hand and arrow nocked, his sudden intake of breath and grunt of pain startled the game fowl he'd been stalking, his would-be quarry disappearing into the undergrowth.

But that didn't matter. There was trouble, big trouble, back at the tree. He could see it, and from the looks on the faces on the rest of his hunting team, so could they. For a moment there was silence, then, some seconds later, the distant thunder of an explosion- something many of them hadn't heard before. Kilot had- but not one that sounded so ominous, nor so powerful that he could hear it from this distance. At this point, there was no doubt in his mind what needed to be done.

"Back to the tree!"

Before long, almost the entire population of hunters and the ranger force of Laisidhiel were gathering at the tree's roots and seeing firsthand the aftermath of the devastating explosion. Kilot pushed his way through the shocked mass of Faun, the rest of his hunting group following him faithfully as they ever did. Despite the crush, he noticed that they had their bows at the ready, arrows in hand, their expressions not of grief or shock, but of contained fury and intense resolve.

As was his, but instead of his bow being drawn, he'd unsheathed his long jungle blade, silently hoping that whoever the perpetrator was, that they would be fool enough to still be lingering at the site of the crime. Alas, as he and the other hunters crowded in the main entrance, there was no sign of anyone that looked suspicious- only dazed, wounded or unconscious (or dead) Faun staggering around in all directions or lying on the ground. Many were already being tended to, and for a moment Kilot considered staying to help, but he knew that he was no healer. He could feel the Chief's call and felt compelled to answer, rushing to the Fauns' leader who stood tall and stoic even when framed by the gaping hole in what had once been a mighty wall of wood.

Already, the guards and rangers were gathering, rallying. How so many rangers had arrived so quickly Kilot wasn't sure, but their presence was reassuring and certainly expected now. His team had been the first armed hunters to reach the chief, and he was quick to add their bows to the tree's defence, ordering Rais' protection as their first priority.

Lightning Dust had been relaxing in the top of the tree with the other pegasai when the explosion happened. She saw white, was vibrated off her branch and began to fall wildly towards the ground. She had only managed to save herself a crash and burn landing by sheer instinct to begin flapping her wings, slowing her descent only marginally. Her touchdown was still rough, the jolt emanating through her body, mixing with choking smoke and what felt like someone screaming inside of her.

Shaking her head furiously, LD glanced around, a scowl on her face as she panted for breath. "What in the name of Cloudsdale?!" she hissed, screwing up her vision against the smoke. She couldn't hear it, but she felt the shock beneath her hooves from the chief, weaving through confused and panicked bodies and wall of smoke until she spotted his figure in the open area of what looked like a hole now blasted into the side of the tree. "Chief!" she called, rushing up to him, coughing and one eye glued shut in hopes to stop the stinging pain.

"Aloe!!" Lotus cried, having lost sight of her sister in the flash of white and smoke. She had been gathering supplies then suddenly a loud noise, then chaos. Blinking in shock, she clutched her chest, glancing around out of fear. So many faun's ran screaming in all directions. Other's lay motionless. Other's were on the move, beginning to help out in any way they possibly could. Then a flash of pink....familiar pink. Her sister! Hobbling over, she wrapped her arms around her twin. "Whot has happened?!" she fretted, peering around.

Admits all the chaos, she spotted several other able bodies moving towards the Chief, his call ringing out and shouting orders. All it took to get her moving was to hear the cry for healers. "Der! Come, we hahlp?" Shaking herself and brushing bits of dust and wood from her hair, she ran over to join the other's gathering near the chief, stopping beside the teal and orange pegasus. "Ai cahn help da healers.....er... well bandaging fohr small wounds or headaches!" she offered, turning her hands into fists and holding them at her chin hopefully.

User Image"It was mighty nice of yeh to give me a place tah stay, Mona." Granny chuckled then sighed. "But I suppose I've been gone from my family long enough. I'm bettin' they'd like to see the new slash old me again!"

Since her "late" arrival to the island, Granny had taken to exploring and making the best of the "new" body the island gave her. Her aged form was no longer. She felt years younger now and felt it with every fiber of her being. She could run, jump, skip and frolic all to her hearts content.

In her adventures, she'd made friends with a kindly little filly - who continuously tried to correct her by saying she was 'Just Faun' - to which Granny would always reply with 'Of course yer 'Just Fine'! You look it!'

Joking aside, Granny was ready to head back. She had fun. But all good fun must come to an end. Besides... she had to reunite with her family.

User ImageMona giggled and nodded. "Sure thing, Granny." she offered and gathered her travel bag with a few fruits. "I'll walk you to the bridge then. I'm sure they'd be happy to see you. It's been nearly a year since you've come to Telrunya." she paused. Perhaps they'd given up that she'd even be around?! Her lip pouted softly. 'What a terrible thought, Mona!'

She set the thought aside and smiled, slinging her bag onto her back. "C'mon, then!"

They walked for some time, chatting about this and that. Granny told stories of her family - again. Not that Mona minded though. It did enough to pass the time...

It wasn't until the pair were coming around the path to the start of an apple orchard. Mona paused a bit and tilted her head. "Well, this is new..." she half whispered.

"What's new?"

"This... field of trees..." Mona started, reaching forward to touch the fence surrounding the outer edge of the farm.

"Nah. That's nuthin'! I'm bettin' Big Mac, Applejack and Applebloom are the reason behind this here Apple Orchard! We must be gettin' close! C'mon, Mona! I'm wantin' yeh to meet th--"

The explosion interrupted their thoughts, fixing their hooves frozen where they stood. A low rumble started from the direction they were heading and grew louder as the shock wave rushed towards them.

Mona remained fixed in her spot as a searing pain ripped through her chest. She gasped for breath and noticed that Granny had done much the same. Granny, however, remained upright and blinked.

"What in tarnation was that?!" she blinked then hopped the fence. "I gotta go see what that was! Yeh comin'?!"

Mona shook herself from her daze. "Y-Yeah! I'm coming!..." she mimicked hopping the fence to the best of her ability and scampered after Granny. She could see smoke starting to rise. Things were not looking good for Granny's return.

They got about halfway through the orchard when another resounding call coursed through their bodies. Someone from the tree was calling them. The tree was asking for help.

"You picked a fine time to go home, Granny!" Mona half grumbled, half praised.

"Darn Tootin'!!" Granny giggled, causing Mona to roll her eyes.

Enki shouldn't have been that surprised the two showed aggression to him. He wasn't a faun but..."No no no no! I'm here to help! Child of the Earth!" He was frantically trying to explain himself to them. He reached up and grabbed the tip of one of his wings, pulling it down to show them. "Leaves like the trees!" He pointed around to whatever tree he could. "Umm...umm..." What else...Oh! He brushed his hair aside and grabbed onto one of his ears, pulling on it so they could see. "Faun! I'm part faun!" He looked to the three, his eyes pleading with them to believe him. He just wanted to help.

The female on her feet started to yell at him. "No please! I'm here to help!" It didn't seem to be working with her though. Then she stopped. All of them did at the rumble in the Earth. He could hear the words spoken. 'We have no time to lose! Search for suspicious Pae in the area!' Oh great Artemis he was dead. So so dead. If the angry mob of faun didn't kill him, his father sure would when he heard about this! Flee crossed his mind. He needed to get out of there but...He had been seen already. How bad would it look for him if he left? There were still the fires and the injured. At this point would they even let him help?

The female that had been yelling at him suddenly took off, yelling for her parents. Enki thoughts changed from his impending doom to his own family. if he had felt the pain and the heard the scream, had Selah also suffered from the pain? Had she hurt herself from it? His father Namaqua, what had he been doing when the scream went out? His other father, Thaddeus, an angel...What did he see? He was so far away from home after all.

Then a thought hit him like a punch to the gut. "ZECORA!" He yelled as he spun towards the great tree, reaching his arm out before letting it fall defeated. His mind was blank again. Zecora. Why didn't he think of her sooner? Was she suppose to be on one of her walks or was she suppose to be in her shop today? He couldn't remember. He just couldn't remember.
