Zac shrugged “I just wondered if some of them could be cheaper used, that’s all. I spent a good chunk on the Tattoo gun.” He winced slightly but there was still delight in his eyes. Clearly he wasn’t displeased with his purchase. “Though I do have a bit from doing the tattoos too.” He pondered. “I just can’t think of anything I might need really, maybe a…hmmm… I’ll look, we’ll focus on carrying back your end table.” He shrugged.

"Yes." He polished off his fries, too, quickly -- efficiently -- somewhat indifferently -- and then shrugged at Zac. Ever wouldn't rush him, at least. Let him work his way through his excellent burger while Ever piled napkins and cup onto his own plate and settled in to lean against the counter. "That's why I brought you." It was mocking, though, just a touch, eyes bright. "You sure you don't need anything else? Buy a bag of chocolate or something, at least, you can always trade that for favors. And I need to buy cigarettes anyway..."

The word ‘Favors’ got a quiet snort of a laugh as a mind clearly went into the gutter with that thought. “Yeah, nah… I can always look where we’re heading. Besides… Not really a fan of the chocolate I ever got sent from the states.” He made a face. He finished his burger with a bit more a hurry though after he watched Ever polish off the fries, wiping his hands off on his napkin and shrugging. “Sides…with the Tattoo Gun, I can get some pretty good favors for a discount.” “If I see something else I’ll grab it. But I can pick up supplies to help people treat their tattoos at any box store really. I’m not old enough to buy alcohol state side.”

"Oh, god." It was laughing, as Ever slid up to stand -- swiping down his hands and then dumping his trash, easily. Amused by the idea of just how young Zac was. Maybe he wouldn't have guessed, but -- "Well. You can always get alcohol somewhere, if that's what you want, or hand me some cash and I'll get it for you." He shoved both hands into his pockets, and raised his eyebrows in question. "I should probably pick up some more anyway."

He made a face about the laughter but rolled his shoulder in a shrug again. “Wouldn’t want to start trouble, last thing I think we need is for someone to pick me up for being under age or you for helping me. I don’t think they’d buy that I ‘forgot’ just because I’m from somewhere a little more at ease with the idea.” “I’m just not sure what else I’d pick up. I mean… a few books maybe but I want to be sure your furniture isn’t awful first.”

"All the furniture is awful but that's last stop..." He waved Zac off some, but it was up to him if he'd make purchases or not. For now, Ever'd haul him along to buy a big carton of cigarettes, some cranberry juice and chocolate, all of it piled together. Thank god for the super strength, for their weapons. No way Ever could have carried this all, once upon a time... At the liquor store, they could pause outside, Ever unloading purchases, including the black plastic bag, into Zac's grasp. "Speak now if you want something."

He fished in his pocket and handed Ever Some money discretely as he juggled the packages. “Surprise me, use the rest.” He shrugged and then had to catch something that started to slip free, or felt like it was going to since his grasp was a bit tentative for the hand off. “Then we get your furniture.” After ever went inside he did sneek a discrete peek into the black bag. Discrete at least till the flush rose in his face and he tucked it firmly back under one arm as though that would help him contain the contents.

Ever'd spot the flush as soon as he came out -- another dark plastic bag, heavy enough to be annoying, bottles rattling against each other. Zac hadn't specified, so he'd get the exact same kind of cheap vodka Ever bought, and he could deal with that -- but there was juice in there, too, to replace what he'd stolen out of America's stash. "Okay. To the train. We can get dinner at Ikea, I hear they have meatballs." And he grinned down at Zac, quite pointedly taking back his things. "And if you don't want to know, don't look."

“Well, what they say about cats apparently applies to Kiwi’s too.” He said and had the good grace to look embarrassed, ether that he was caught still blushing or to have been so nebby. “…Ikea meat balls?” he gave a somewhat suspicious glance, half wondering if that was a sort of …joke because of the contents of the bag but it seemed a bit ‘left turn at the mental traffic lights’ to be one so he let it slide. “After we get your bookends, maybe I’ll grab some crackers and such to bring back, I just wana be sure that I have enough hands before we do.” He shrugged slightly.

"Bedside table." He grinned at Zac, patted him on the cheek, and led the way to the train -- and here, too, he'd pay for the ticket, since he had months on Zac and this was his errand, after all. Blowing through money like water, but it was what it was. Paying for his favors so he didn't owe them later. They could sprawl out on the train, a bit of a trip down -- and Ever'd raise his eyebrows. "How old are you, again?"

The cheek pat got a look of irritation. But he didn’t do much more than that because he sort of deserved the irritating gesture he figured. After all, he’d snooped where he didn’t belong. He was feeling more like he owed Ever something than anything else what with lunch purchased and train tickets purchased too, but he wasn’t sure what he could offer. “Eighteen” he supplied casually, half watching Ever half watching out the window. “You?” He asked in return, though there was just a bit of ‘defensive’ that flashed through his face when he realized that it might be considered ‘a bit young’ in ‘The States’.

It got a blink and then a laugh, slow, surprised and maybe just a bit embarrassed. He'd guessed young, but young had been twenty, had been years of experience under his belt, and Ever couldn't help but imagine himself at eighteen. Hopeless. "s**t. I'm twenty-four. And a half, I guess." He dug a thumb into his eye and looked out the window, too, shaking his head. "God, did you live at home? With your family?"

“No.” the answer was perhaps a little hasty, like that were an awful idea. “No, I got my own place when I finished my apprenticeship. Was taking some classes at Uni, did some spare work at a restaurant to make ends meet.” He rolled his shoulders in a shrug. “Why? What about you?”

"Room above a Chinese restaurant. Cheap as hell, but then, I was paying cash." So it was probably a hundred percent profit, for the owners. Ever shrugged, crookedly, scraping at his hair and looking Zac over doubtfully again. So young. "At least it was heated, though, and had a proper bed, and a little, uh. Kitchenette." He tipped his head a little. Not exactly making it sound fancy, but for Ever, it was something...

Zac nodded like maybe he understood. “Can’t speak for the basement.” He grinned slightly. “But the rooms on Deus are nice, and the pay is pretty damn good.” “… Having a place to call my own, that was nice.” He looked tired and thoughtful, certainly no judgments passed. “… ah piss… I should look for a … like junk jewelry place. There’s someone I need to…’thank’ on the island.”
