Once she realized the misunderstanding, Hvergelmir balked immediately. "Oh, no -- not now! It's... it's so dark, I -- I'm sure it would be too hard to see anything at night. Don't you think we should go during the daytime?" When it's safer, she added silently.

She'd lost a year of her life to whatever had happened at Barren Pines. The thought of going back there again filled her with dread at all -- but the prospect of going there at night left her frozen in place.

"We were lucky this time. But you never know where you'll run into youma, right? We could -- we could go on a weekend. Pack a picnic lunch. Snowball could come, too."

Anything but now. Anything but right now, exhausted and scared and wandering around blindly in the darkness.

Hvergelmir felt tired, all of a sudden, and not just from the brief youma fight. She wanted to go home and rest.

The idea of any of her powered compatriots coming within shouting distance of Laney's parents made her stomach clench. "Oh, no, that's okay -- I can make it. Send me a note if you go poking around, let me know what you find."

Hvergelmir stepped back, before Niflhel could decide to maybe get pushy on the point of accompanying her to her house.

"Thanks for coming out with me tonight. Take care, okay?"
