“Oh, if you’re worried about my dunking technique, you can always demonstrate for me first. In fact, that’s a great idea.” Her expression lit up, and her step gained a “pip pip” skip in her gate. “Of course, I know you’re not a strong, modern woman so I can help you when we get there.” Her voice was serious and placating, but she then grinned playfully, nudging his shoulder in a mock shove into the river.
Her thoughts returned to the other side of their conversation, flicking her ears as if a nervous habit, but otherwise attempted to keep her displeasure out of her expression or voice. “I bet that must be exciting… but lonely.” She added, letting her eyes glance over to look at his response, hoping to see an agreement from him. “Do you have any friends worth sticking around for? … Or visiting again?” Well if he was leaving, maybe he would come back?

Oh, was this a challenge? One dark brow arched upwards, then Ausdauer's grin deepened. "Demonstrate? Oh, I think I can manage that, even though there are few who would argue me for the role of strong, modern woman. Or modern, or womanly at all. You have to admit, this is a pretty studly package," he said playfully, gesturing to his large, muscular body. Actually, playful as his tone was he was serious; Ausdauer had always had a bit of a frat boy's appreciation of his his own body. At her comment about his life, he broke off the posing and shrugged. "It's a life. I guess I've never really though about it as anything else. Sometimes I run into people again, mostly I don't; it's the downside of the roving life. I have the best luck when I run into another rover, honestly." He shrugged again, thinking back on his longest relationship in the Kawani lands: with his mentor, Regelus. They'd had a rocky road together, but he certainly appreciated what the other stallion had taught him. Then he shook himself; the conversation was suddenly getting far too somber! "But there will be no talk of this sort, not when we're on a mission to de-mud you. And since you're apparently the sort of strong modern woman who'd like a strong, something stallion to lead the way, let me show you how it's done!" With that, he flipped his wings open wide and abruptly kicked up into the air, winging his way several yards up into the air above the deep part of the stream. Having reached the appropriate height, he suddenly pulled his wings back in, tucked in his body, and dropped like a stone into the water, sending a cascade of water over the shores. After a moment his head shot up out of the water, his mane dripping and plastered to his head. "Just like that!"

Atlas gaped, frozen into place like the mud had caked her right there, into stone. She'd instinctively unfurled her wings when Aus had, but hadn't expected him to dive bomb out of the sky into the "stream." Pft, some steam, too! This thing was huge. But the excitement of watching the stallion free fall out of the sky sent icy spikes of energy through her stomach, and the urge to do it too. Obviously, though, she couldn't show him how absolutely impressed she was. Instead she kept her amused expression, and sauntered towards the stream and its lapping waves, her wings spread wide. Once he resurfaced and in ear she shot, she quirked an eyebrow. "Eh… I'd give it a… 6." She shrugged, but her grin suddenly spread wider before she, too, kicked off with all her might into the sky.
Forcing her wings to beat her higher, she'd gone what she thought would have been about the same distance of Ausdauer but it was hard to tell from this point of view. But when it came her turn to dive, she threw caution to the wind and turned forward, her free fall becoming a spiraling, spinning display in the sky plummeting into the water beneath her.
The thrill of the dive completely distracted her from the shock of hitting the water. It was cold, that was for sure, but she realized after she broke the surface she was alive, with her neck completely intact. (About half way down she'd expected it would break on impact with her luck.) She trilled once she resurfaced, flinging water back with her mane, deliberately aiming for Ausdauer. Her laughter carried well beyond the bank, kicking her legs to propel her around. "That. Was. Amazing!"

If there was one sin of which Ausdauer was guilty, it was pride, hands down. He'd always been a bit of a conceited fellow, and he loved to have others looking at him with admiration. If the 'others' in question were pretty mares, then it was even better, so he preened a bit in the face of Atlas' admiring look. Sure, he knew he looked a bit odd at the moment; no one looked their best while soaking wet, especially not a Soquili known for big, fluffy hair. But even if he had the weird half big, half small appearance of a drowned rat on steroids, Ausdauer was cool with that. He knew he'd looked cool making his plunge, and Atlas' eyes only confirmed that. So he couldn't be more pleased when she too went for the dramatic entrance, even if she'd had the audacity to call his performance a six. A six, indeed! Crazy girl obviously didn't appreciate fine art, he thought with a grin that didn't diminish even when she hit the water, sending another wave of water over the bank and Ausdauer, who was still chilling out in the water. As a dark-colored pony who tended to frequent sunny places, he'd always had a fondness for water and swimming! And from the look of things, he wasn't alone. "I'd give you good marks for the dive, but the hitting of the water was very inelegant. I'd say...8 for style, 3 for execution, and better luck next time," he told her with a grin. "And didn't I tell you, aim for the deep part and you're golden?" Giving her drenched body the once over, he paddled over and wiped away a newly liquid bit of mud from the side of her face. "Or in your case, pinkish."

"Inelegant?" She snorted, emphasizing what 'inelegant' really looked like. "What was I supposed to do, then?" She waded over towards him, meeting him halfway, her wings raised out of the water like sails (if she knew what sails were, at least). "Not hit the water at all?" But then the rest of her argument dried in her throat when he was so much closer than she'd expected, touching her face. She felt the blood rush to her cheeks and her voice die, leaving her mouth slightly ajar. A couple heartbeats passed before she laughed breathless, and moved away from the stallion, towards the bank behind him. What had she been saying?
Emerging from the water, sopping wet, she shook out her fur. Looking for anything to comment on, she mused out loud that most of the mud had been loosened from her pelt already, though her voice was a tad higher than it been five minutes ago. Her silver eyes scanned the water again, and she decided to wade back in, to finish the job--conveniently about ten feet from Aus.
She sunk into the pond's depths, letting her weight float a bit. Her wings were still raised to prevent them being saturated again; They were very uncomfortable when weighed down with so much water. She avoided looking at the stallion but tried to do so naturally. She was kicking her front leg to create ripples in the surface, attempting to get a better look at the murky bottom with no progress, of course. When she stopped, and the water stilled, she got a good look at her reflection and her breath hitched. Did she always look so... unkempt?

A more gentlemanly stallion might have failed to notice Atlas' blushing gape; a slightly more gentlemanly stallion might have noticed, but refrained from acknowledging it in any form. But Ausdauer had never been accused of being a gentleman, and he both noticed and acknowledged. How could he not, when Atlas was being so amusingly cute about it? He'd seen this before; the blush, the gape, the awkward shuffle...it was just so charming! So he did nothing to subdue the wide grin that crossed his face at the first blush, a grin that followed Atlas as she waded away from him, out of the water, then back into the water several yards away, studiously avoiding looking at him the whole time. Aww, how precious; she thought she was being subtle! How could he resist an invitation like that? Nonchalantly, he made his way back over to Atlas, his best saunter and smile in place. The secret to looking your best when you look your worst is confidence, after all! "Well, that was an interesting in and out, Atlas, but I think you'll find that staying in the water and maybe doing a little scrubbing will work wonders for clearing out that mud. Your wings will work for that, or if you're worried about them drying out, I can get it for you. I'm a very thorough stallion; you'll note that there was no mud on me when we met, in spite of me having weathered a storm. THAT is talent," he said in the same nonchalant way.

What was he doing? Trying to be suave, wading in the water? He looked like a drunk duck; the image causing giggles to try and bubble out of her maw for which she kept firmly closed. Her shoulders were the only indication, biting the corner of her lip as she ignored him the best she could. At least until he was too close to her again, and the giggles died away instantly, replaced by a nervousness in her chest.
At his words in his proximity to her, her blush spread once more and she looked to the skies in an eyeroll. "I-I don't think I'll need your help, thanks." She said, trying to add a hint of snark in them, but her nerves made it much less effective. She continued to drift from him purposefully, only sparing a few glance his way to see how far she was, and if he was trying to follow. He was being sooo... what the was word? She couldn't describe it. Rude wasn't right. Cocky was true, but it wasn't what she was trying to express. He was... teasing. Not really in a mean way, but in the "I'm doing this because I can" way.
"Wow, you can stay clean. You must be extraordinarily talented... for a stallion at least." She giggled again, this time without restraint. "From what you told me, you were in the forest during the storm. And the only reason I fell, by the way, was because some stallion decided to give me a spook!" She said coupled with an accusatory glance his direction.

Well, if he looked like a drunk duck, at least he was a drunk duck with confidence! Whatever Ausdauer’s faults, he would never be the sort to cower and whimper, or to be easily embarrassed. Easily angered, that was a wild card; but ashamed? No, not his game. So at Atlas’s giggling, Ausdauer only increased the cockiness in his saunter, turning the steps into more of a sashay than a simple stride. He knew the game; he’d played it before. Still, Atlas was proving to be all kinds of entertaining, and he greatly approved. There weren't enough mares out there with so much spirit mixed in with their cuteness! Giving her his most innocent look, he followed up with a casual shrug. “Suit yourself, I just thought the gentlemanly thing to do was offer. It’s a gift I have, after all; wouldn't it be selfish of me to keep it all to myself instead of sharing it? And I was not IN the forest,” he was quick to add with a wry face and a shake of his head, “I was just near it.” It would take a lot more than a little bit of a rain storm to drive him into the strangling grasp of the woods! “So, any cleanliness counts as talent on my part, not a cop-out from being sheltered. But you should tell me more about this stallion; from your tone, he sounds like a villain, but I suspect you’re exaggerating his role in the story to disguise some…” Here he trailed off, giving her another roguish grin that he quickly smothered back into an innocent smile. “Some clumsiness on your part, maybe?” Roman Foi Sorry this has taken so long...

Oh my word; This stallion... Atlas, performing one of the biggest eye rolls she could manage, settled to pretend to not be listening to his train of thought that so clearly was running into a tangent of exaggeration and melodramatic... well, fibbing. (Though she'd never admit that the smile she couldn't fight off was because of him; oh no. It was very much the fun she was having playing the water. Right? Right.)
Wandering about, she found she was unable to tread more towards the center of the pond and keep her head above the waterline, and so settled to squishing her hooves into the soft mud beneath her in the more shallow regions. At the mention of her exaggerating, though, she whipped her head around and gave an expression that could only described as "saaaaay whaaaaat?" Eyebrow perked, skepticism oozed from her eyes. "Clumsiness?"
Once again not in the best display of grace, she attempt to wade quickly (and awkwardly) towards Aus, with her smile that just wouldn't go away. "My clumsiness? Oh, no,no,no,no. It was definitely the villain's plan all along; Lurking in the distance to try and terrify those of good will, visiting our of the kindness of their hearts." She stood nose to nose to the stallion, her embarrassment, along with her caution, thrown to the wind with her unwilling amusement beaming from her face. Cajmera No problemo! By the time we fin this RP, hopefully Atlas' new friend will be around and we can have an RP with that? o uo I think it could be lots of fun~

"Careful you don't get swept away, Atlas; you don't seem to have the bulk that keeps me so nicely anchored to the bottom of the stream." Like the gentleman he was, Ausdauer stifled any further comments on Atlas' flustered wandering, but he couldn't pass up one last remark about size. After all, she was a rather dainty creature, even ignoring his size mucking up the ratios! And while he would naturally go sweeping after her if she DID get taken by the current, that would be a lot of bother for them both. Best to play it safe! Well, play it safe physically, anyway. Grinning, he allowed her to trot up nose to nose with him, enjoying both the boldness and the amusement the mare was currently displaying. So much for the reserved mare he'd first met; this one was sassy! "Yes, clumsiness, Because if there had been a villain about, which their clearly was not, he would have been a lot more mysterious and shifty, probably even setting up an elaborate trap to ensure said terrorizing took place. Since none of those things occurred but a certain mare ended up in the mud, completely unprovoked, it's only logical to conclude that the mare is a bit...well, awkward when it comes to standing upright," he finished with an impish grin. "Which makes my previous point, about being careful of the current, all that much more important, I'd say! After all, you have a bit of a track record..."

"You're mental," she said, as if this realization just dawned on her. "Aboslutely--" she turned to wade back into the stream on her own, "--mental." She shook her head as she found a nice shallow place in the stream and sat with her legs tucked under her, relaxing as the water wafted over her, the waterline reaching the bottom of her neck-- pointedly ignoring the stallion.
She closed her eyes and enjoyed the sensation of the sun bathing her, reflecting off the rushing water. All thoughts of embarrassment left her from earlier, and she simply let herself relax into the coolness of the stream. Her hair felt so soft, soaked and spiraling around her in the rush of the stream. Aus, or not Aus, she'll be returning to this little spot in the future.
When a few heartbeats of silence stretched between them, she opened an eye to peak at the bulky stallion, and she grinned, finding him one of the most interesting creatures she'd yet to meet.Cajmera Sorry! xD I thought we were in a pond. Not a stream.... OTL

"Mental? Well, those are tough words coming from a mare who can't keep herself upright on a level surface!" Still, Ausdauer was grinning as well as he waded after and then past Atlas, trotting out onto the bank and shaking himself out. He was enjoying this this little interlude as well, but there was only so long that he could deal with water. That was a downside of being such a large, fluffy stallion; there was a lot of things on his body that could absorb...and then retain...water. But just because he wasn't in the water didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the proximity, and he settled himself relatively close to Atlas on the bank. "So, where is that brother of yours off to today? Not that I'm complaining about the present company," he said with a polite nod to Atlas, "But last time you two sorta gave the impression of being pretty darn close. I hope everything is ok there? Not to suggest that there is any trouble between you two of course, but that everything is ok with him health-wise and whatnot. That was a pretty intense storm we had, after all, and it's possible that balance issues run in the family..." Here, he trailed off again into a grinning silence. Well, a brief grinning silence. "I'd say clumsiness, but apparently that's a touchy word." Roman Foi Sorry, that's my bad for the long pause there >>;

Atlas' small smile spread as the stallion continued to babble. She stopped listening so much to the words (or risk finding another reason to flare up or swat at him with her smaller wings) but instead found herself enjoying the deep voice he had, which quite matched his bulky build she noted. She found her mind wandering; off day dreaming about her handsome new friend...
She heard him creep up behind her and leaned his maw down to whisper in her ear, his deep voice rumbling flirtatious compliments about her beauty in the sun light. His nose trimmed down her jaw and throat, and she felt him lay beside her, and she fit perfectly at his side. His body heat was the perfect compliment, next to her in the cool water...
"Hmm?" She was drawn out of her pleasant, and very unlady-like thoughts and blinked at the stallion. "Sorry, were you saying something?" She grinned at him, and giggled as she turned her face back upwards facing the sun as it beat down, her smile wide. She wasn't able to return to day dreaming though, knowing he was staring right at her. She felt a blush creep up her cheeks, thinking about how she'd actually been day dreaming about someone who was right there! What had gotten into her? She mentally scolded herself for having such thoughts... but soon couldn't help falling back into more day dreams, drawing herself out guiltily, and going right back to them. Was there something in this water?Cajmera Nah, I should have better memory than that. xDa

This was only their second meeting, so Ausdauer and Atlas hadn't shared too much information about themselves. But if they had, there would have been one little tidbit of information that Atlas might have found interesting: namely, that Ausdauer was one of those special creatures, a domained Angeni. In Ausdauer''s case, that domain was one particularly near and dear to opinionated Soquili everywhere: Perseverance! Or, as some uncharitable Soquili might amend, stubbornness. In the case of Ausdauer, this domain tended to manifest in two major ways: Ausdauer himself was almost impossible to sway from something once he'd decided to do it, and others around him tended to feel new, sharpened focus towards whatever they had decided to do. Needless to say, it could often become a case of 'unstoppable force meet immovable object,' so there were many arguments in favor of him sharing that little bit of info about himself right away. But as Aus himself was wont to say, where was the sport in that? Besides, his powers didn't take effect unless Soquili made a decision. For his own part, Aus had no idea what was going through Atlas' mind, though he hardly would have complained if he had! All he saw was a very contented looking mare who, dramatic gasp, felt no compunction about ignoring him. How very scandalous! "Apparently what I was saying was less interesting that what you're thinking, so feel free to carry on," he said with a chuckle. "I was asking what your brother was up to, though, if you want to consider answering."

Atlas felt guilt sink in her gut at his comment on her thoughts, and her pleasant expression turned sour, and the heat flushed up her neck and face with full force. All romantic thoughts were pushed from her mind that instant and she stood, shaking off the water (secretly hoping droplets hit the stallion in the face). Her mane and tail were saturated though, and stuck to her neck, hips, and legs in odd ways. She tried to exude an air of "noneyabusiness" in the most adult way possible, but, as per normally, was unable to suppress her smile in return to his.
"Pyrr? Hopefully he's off meeting girls." She giggled, moving to rest on the shore, a few feet from the stallion. "I've been trying to find some one for him, to maybe lighten his spirits." Secretly she wanted nieces to play with of course, but to say that would be selfish. Atlas' mind turned to imaging little red fillies running about, calling her Aunt Attie, teaching them to fly, and how annoy their father to their most capacity. Giggles bubbled from her maw at the vision, and smiled apologetically at Aus for her distracted thoughts again. Cajmera xD Sorry I forgot that tidbit too, about his powers.... SHE NEEDS TO FOCUS. OTL
