Ezekiel absorbed the information as greedily as Lagertha drank in the other hunter's Fear. The teasing smile was gone now, banter left to the wayside. A look of concentration rested on strong features as he listened, watching Finn move, before the blow to the shoulder had him his hissing.

It hurt, again, but still not like it should, and he gave silent gratitude to his weapon, for keeping him safe. She was proving an absolute pain in his a**, bossy and belittling, but in this moment he appreciated her, and laughed in his head. Excited and wild.

"And what happens when they're charged?" He swung, aiming for an arm again, but the sharp edge of his blade skimmed harmlessly by. He'd have to adjust his aim.

Finn pivoted away from the swing, the axes blades not finding any purchase against his shield before he spun his lance around and jabbed it towards Zeke's mid-section with the barbed butt end of the weapon.

"It differs, from weapon to weapon." Trynt hissed in his head that he was now charged and Finn gave a mental nod.

"Like Trynt here can form a barrier, a sort of shield on top of my shield, to give extra protection. It doesn't last forever, usually only a couple of minutes. Otherwise he can also give my shield a repair of sorts, replenishing the Fear that has been lost. His abilities seem geared towards defense and healing, but others have much more offensive charges, powerful attacks, rapid hitting attacks, attacks that hurt both the wielder and the target....every weapon is unique in how their charge works."

Still playing nice, at least for the moment.

The connect of weapon to his gut pulled a grunt from the Mist, and he backed away. Why was it always the stomach?

He did pause in his attempted attacks, listening intently to the lesson in weapon charges, and the various types there-of. It had him giving his own a mental prod, curious, to which she could give him no solid answer, yet. He'd just have to try, that was the message he got between the excited giggling. But not yet, Lagertha needed more Fear.

We'll he'd just have to oblige her.

"That is all very fascinating." And it was, but this was a spar. Adjusting his grip on his axes, he charged forward again, bringing the left around for a quick slice at the shorter man's stomach.

Finn gave a lazy shrug of his shoulders in response to Zeke's words, and dodged to the side when the other man neared, the ax grazing across his stomach and the Fear shield that protected him, barely hurting at all. However, as he dodged, he made an attempt to swing his lance at the other man to counter, but the scythe-like blade caught nothing but air.

s**t. That was disappointing. His lips pursed but none of his displeasure showed on his face.

"Why not give it a try?" He urged the other man. "Show me yours and I'll show you mine." A light tease, though without a hint of amusement in his tone or in his eyes.

Why not, indeed.

So how's this work, Laggy?

The valkyrie was abuzz with fear, chomping at the bit to release it. Zeke could feel her eagerness, and he could feel her delight at his willingness to compile to that desire.

{Open yourself up to the storm, and swing.} It was very nearly a purr, the most affection she'd shown him thus far in their so short history together.

"Sounds like a fair deal to me." He grinned, returning the teasing banter as he gave an experimental twirl of one ax. Then his hands were tightening on the leather wrapped handles, and he was moving forward. One large step, heel digging into the dirt upon impact, and he brought both axes down in an arch that met at arms length.

He wasn't expecting the backlash of wind, but really, that was nothing to the force that was directed at Finn. Like a concentrated hurricane, hitting the shorter man head on.

Well, Finn had certainly asked for it. Still, he found watching other people activating their Fear charges to be rather fascinating. For a moment, he simply stood still and watched, his lane held up diagonally in front of himself, his stance wide, knee's bent, prepared for whatever might hit him, if anything did at all.

And something did. It was like a he had been hit suddenly full on by a hurricane, reminding him a bit of his barrier only quite the opposite as instead of the wind providing protection it was instead used as a weapon. He couldn't brace himself against it, though he tried, stumbled, and was then thrown back several feet where he landed hard on the ground, did a backwards roll, and then landed with a grunt of pain, his weapon tore free from his grip but landing not so far away.

"Well that was certainly...something." He grunted, his body sore in all sorts of places as he rolled over towards his lance, his hand closing around it before he rolled again, and used his weapon to help push himself to his feet.

"I'm afraid the one I have to use isn't nearly so showy, however." His shield had taken a beating, and he didn't need Trynt to inform him of that as the magenta runes along his weapons shaft began to glow, brighter and brighter, until the entire weapon was infused with it's glow, which spread to Finn's hand and up his arm, covering his body in that vibrant pink-like glow for just a moment, before it faded.

He felt refreshed, rejuvenated, and like he was absolutely ready to continue to kick this guys a**.

Well that was unexpected, but I have to admit, not bad.

{Certianly boil. You doubt me?}

I've only known you half a day.}

To that his weapon only laughed, high and half manic as the wind died down, runes fading, and Zeke watched Finn climb back to his feet. A satisfied grin on his lips, because really, why shouldn't be be a little smug after unleashing a tiny hurricane. It was an incredible power, and he wielded it.

That smile faded, however, as the runes along Finn's lance began to glow. Despite his words, Zeke found himself shifting, bracing himself against whatever was about to come, but after a second he realized nothing was. The Mist frowned, fingers tightening around the handles of his axes. Then the glow spread, from weapon and over hunter, and Zeke stared, features sobered, as that too faded.

Visibly it didn't do much, but Finn looked less tired, rejuvenated even, and the Mist let out a huff. "See, now that's that bullshit." Healed, or boosted, or whatever it was.

Well, bitching about it wasn't going to accomplish anything. Lagertha gave an eager purr as Zeke lunged forward again, swinging hard at Finn with the weapon in his right hand.

Finn barked out a laugh, and attempted to pivot away from the oncoming blow but was pretty much completely unsuccessful. The ax hit him hard, and he stumbled, but spun on his heel to deliver another quick jab.

"Fair is fair. Some weapons take Fear away, and some replenish what's been lost. I guess that's what makes me a good moon, since mine can accomplish the latter." A smirk, and a step back to ready his stance for whatever counterattack might come hurtling his way.

A strong hand snapped out, grabbing for the lance as it drew back from the sharp jab delivered to his side. It slipped through his fingers, too quick, and he turned, raising axes up defensively as Finn spoke.

"That's very good to know." Something they hadn't told him before unleashing him into the island. Something important, crucial even. It seemed to Zeke that the techs that took care of the new arrivals were either very lax, or had a lot of faith in the whole of the island to pass along vital information.

"Any other sage words of wisdom you care to pass along?"

Finn tilted his head to the side slightly, smirked, and said. "Don't piss off the division leads."

And then he was back on the attack with a broad, roundhouse sweep of his lance aimed to take Zeke in the chest.

That one hurt. Zeke gave a sharp hiss as he staggered back, doubling over. It was a shock, when he looked down, to find his shirt untouched, his chest beneath it relatively unharmed. He'd expected damage, blood, red hot pain that lingered rather than slowly fading into something tolerable. "Jesus." Pain and surprise.

It was going to take a little bit, he realized, to get used to all the perks his weapon provided. Lagertha all but purred in his mind, smug and delighted. She wouldn't be letting him forget -- not now, not ever -- that she kept him safe, lent him strength.

A tilt of head followed the advice, and for a second or two those pale eyes lingered on the burned side of Finn's face. It was a leap, of course, but Zeke was prone to seek the truth, probing topics that were likely sensitive. For all he knew the Moon had run afoul of some monster, but... "Speaking from experience?"

He punctuated the question with a lung and an upward slash of axes aimed at the other man's torso.

Finn caught the lingering stare, and was distracted by his own insecurities over his face just long enough for the other hunter to get a solid attack in, one that left the moon intermediate stumbling back with a hiss, his hand going to his stomach briefly before he smirked.

"Well. I didn't get this beautiful accessory on my face through a freak d**k sucking accident."

In retaliation, he moved forward again, swiftly swinging his lance low, and then upwards, in an attempt to sweep Zeke off of his feet before jabbing at his chest with the sharp blade.

"So whi-" The question was cut off as his feet were suddenly knocked out from under him and the impact with the packed ground knocked the wind right out of him. It made it difficult to do little more than grunt in response to the solid strike of the lance when it connected with his chest. That, too, left the Mist gasping, and the first full breath he drew was long and ragged, and just a little pained.

"s**t." That had hurt. He winced as he rolled, getting his knees under him and using an ax to push himself back up onto his feet. He didn't straighten right away, but but he did look up, meeting that single eye. Impressed.

And Finn couldn't have known it, but Zeke hadn't found the scars disfiguring. Curious? Yes. Interesting? Certainly, but that didn't lessen the appeal for the taller man. If anything, really, it added to it. "Who'd you piss off?" He moved forward, and this time it was the chain that came at Finn, aimed for his stomach. Not a terribly hard shot, but Zeke was distracted by his own question. Keen on getting an answer.

As usual, knocking his opponent off of his feet in a vicious attack was as satisfying as ever, and as always it was tempting to knock him flat on his a** a second time the second the other man got to his feet, whipping him with the chain, an attack that was met with a quick, light slash to the back of the other man's hand.

"Caelius. Death Lead. Apparently he's not a fan of being called a hypocrite, though I have heard he's mutilated people for less...and has thrown them out of windows as well."

"Sounds like someone to avoid contact with." Given Zeke's usual penchant for pushing buttons, it was most likely in his best interest to stay away from the Death lead. He could be respectful, patient, but there was that underlying masochistic streak that liked to rear its head every so often. The need to needle, to poke and to prod. Aimed at the wrong person, apparently it could have some very serious repercussions.

Much as Finn's missing eye didn't bother the Mist, he was vain enough to not want the same for himself.

{Boil...}

I feel it.

Another charge, the handles of his axes were practically vibrating with the contained energy. With a flash of runes, he took a heavy step forward, bringing both down again, but not quite as neatly in line this time. The blast of wind went wild, circling out and away, rather tan in a directed path, and Zeke gave a soft curse under his breath as the glow faded.
