"Suit yourself." Fleade said calmly, still limping around. Even if he did follow through and get her ankle looked at, she doubted they'd have much healing capacity. Continuing to chew a few more moments, she spit the paste into her hand before stopping for a moment to smear the paste on her ankle. It tasted horrible but hopefully it heals better than that.

"So tell me. What do you actually get for turning me in? A promotion? Money? Glory to your king and gods?" Fleade said the last part somewhat mockingly, but she had been curious, and her curiosity got the better of her. Surely there had to be some incentive. She laughed internally about the idea of having a "master," there was no way they could get her to be a slave and do work like that. She'd sooner rather die, which she was sure they could arrange. It was the reason she needed to be thinking of a way to get out of this.

Saraf glanced over at her as she asked a question of him, wondering for a moment if she actually cared or if she were just being sarcastic. After a moment of thought he decided to answer, "Yet another reason for them to grant me a promotion, if I am lucky." He said, thinking for a moment on all of the things that he could do with a rank in the Oban army, how it would help him to better serve his country and king, as well as what he would be able to do for his mother, "Though I suppose that when I get rank and a promotion in the army that money should follow so... I suppose that would come to me because of you as well." He mused, half to himself.

Giving a bit of a smile he said, "Glory to my king and gods... well, that would be nice too, but I think you're flattering yourself if you think either would turn favor upon be for a single slave. Unless you're the queen of Zena that is, though I don't think you have such a rank there if I recall right?" They were just a bunch of back water tribes, they had what, elders? Something like that, no kings, no queens, so he doubted that she was so important as all of that. No, she was just some random girl and while she was a lovely slave he doubted the Gods would grant him blessing for bringing her in.

Giving a chuckle he said, "A shame though, were it so easy to get a blessing and favor my king or our Gods I would go and capture a whole slew of Zenan prisoners. I will take what I can get for you though."

Hmm, interesting. Fleade thought to herself. Little did Saraf know, but he had told her a lot more than he had realized. So he was ambitious, if he wanted to get a promotion, but didn't seem to care too much about money, though she thought he thought it was nice to have too. But he didn't seem too religious, which interested her, only confirming that they were self serving people with no higher purpose. "You don't even believe that by doing this for your people, the gods will not turn their eyes upon you? You must feel awfully small." She hoped it was a hit at him, if he caught her meaning. Fleade believed, that even the smallest of Zenans was important to Bergchi. And that even now, Chi was watching over her, waiting until the moment was just right to give her what she needed to escape.

While she only really believed that of Bergchi, she knew that other Tendaji species had multiple gods, and some do everything in the name of their gods. Were these people just made to fear the Gods? Or did they not truly believe that there was something higher than themselves. Fleade continued to think on that and wondered what else she could get the Oban to talk about. Know you enemy right? "Is Oba much different than Juahar?" The place they live in must be pretty horrible if they have to invade other lands since they're not happy with what they have.

He rolled his ruby colored eyes then said, "The Gods know me, they have blessed me already many times, even saved my life in battle once, but I can't say that they are all waiting with baited breath for me to bring you in, Zenan. Nor do I think that my people will cheer over the capture of one little girl. It will take a whole lot more then that, which is why after you are patched up and put in your cage that I mean to get back out to work. I can't just sit still if I want that promotion." He wasn't noble born so sitting on his backside wasn't going to guarantee promotion or rank, he needed to strive for it, and meant to do just that.

"Hm? Feel very small? Not in the way your are thinking, nor am I going to cry on your shoulder about my 'terrible circumstances' if that is waht you are looking for." As if anyone would do such a thing with a mere prisoner. What a weird girl she was he thought to himself as he walked along. The sooner they got back the sooner he would be free of her strange questions and ego, and here he thought some of the higher ranked members of the army were bad about how highly they thought of themselves.

The walk fell quiet again, though only for a moment, before she was asking him something else, seeming to change the subject from Saraf to Oba instead. He gave a nod, "There is nothing that I can think of that is the same between the two places save for the heat... and even then it's a very different sort of heat." He missed home, missed his mother, but knew that he was doing all of this so that he could better serve her, his king, and his country. He'd do whatever was necessary to claw his way up the ranks, even battle against these savages and deal with home sickness. It would all be worth it in the end, provided it all worked out, "I can't wait to return, once we are done here of course."

Ethelfleade couldn't help but smirk. Perhaps it was good that he didn't think her capable of much. That he didn't think she was worth that much. Maybe she should try to increase that. How stupid could she make herself? Perhaps it wasn't really needed that she make herself seem worse as he was already doing that. Which was fine by her.

"Nor would I want you to cry on my shoulder. You'd probably give me some disease." There was no telling. However, there was some small comfort in the fact that Oba wasn't anything like Juahar. Perhaps it was just as much of a shock to her as when she came here from Zena. She quickly shook any thoughts on similarities out of her head. She shouldn't be trying to find like things with her and this stupid oban boy. Thankfully, she started recognizing the area and knew they were close to Neued. Oh Chi, if you're going to give me what it takes to escape let it be now.. She thought to herself, but there was no change in her surroundings.

Even with the numbing agent she had put on, her limping had worsened and the pain was starting to return. Despite knowing that once she got into Neued it would get looked at, or so he said, she'd still rather not go. Which could be understood. As the sounds of Neued reached her ears, her heart began to speed up. And what way did she normally combat her fears? Humor. "Will you come visit me sometime?" She said with a little bit of malice in her voice, though, not as much as one would think.

Saraf gave a twitch, "Oh yes, I am sure of the two of us I'm the one carrying a disease and not some back water savage like you." He muttered, finding the insult one that he didn't much care for. He took damn good care of himself, for her to say that he might give her some sort of disease, it caused his ire to rise... but he forced himself to relax. He couldn't let her get to him, not when he was this close to Neued. Just a little longer and he would be rid of her, Essd give him strength. Saraf drew in a breath, held it, then let it out slowly before he said, "Not long now." He could hear his fellow soldiers as they went about their work, something that gave him hope, it wouldn't be all that much longer and he would have finally gotten his prize back to Neued where she belonged.

Jerking his head to one side as she spoke again he found himself starring at her wide eyed, mouth slightly agape, "Excuse me...?" Would he coem visit her? For a moment he wondered if she were serious, before he shook his head, realizing that she was likely mocking him, "As if, once you are with the other captives you're no longer my problem. I am sure you will have your like minded friends to chat with before you're shipped off to Oba. I'd suggest just resting up though, the trip is a long one." He told her, all but cheering when they finally reached their destination. They had made it, they were in Neued, and he'd done it! He'd successfully capture his first prisoner! A part of him wanted to cheer in delight over the accomplishment... but it wasn't something he could do, not yet, not until she was delivered to the slave pens.

"Come on, let's get that ankle dealt with then you can join the rest of the captives." He said, motioning to her to follow him. By now he felt that surely any thought of escape had left her mind, or so he hoped, now that they were surrounded by soldiers. If she tried to escape now there would be many who could stop her, meaning that really the only thing he had left to do was tend to the ankle and drop her off. It was something that had him smiling as he brought her to where a healer was set up, asking the Oban woman about wrapping his captive's ankle, unable to smile a little at getting to call the Zenan woman 'his captive' even though he knew she wouldn't be 'his' for much longer.

Fleade didn't take any notice to his attempt to insult her back and just kept limping along. The sounds were getting louder as people began to become visible. At the Oban's surprise at her question, it took everything she had to keep a straight face. Of course she didn't want to see him but the shock on his face was worth every minute pretending she did.

Much to the Zenan's surprise, though, he actually followed through with his word and took her to the healers tents. Ethelfleade couldn't help but wonder why Chi hadn't intervened to give her the things she needed to escape. Maybe it was just because her god knew there was not much she could do on an injured ankle. She scowled a little for being called "prisoner," but the relief of having her ankle wrapped was almost worth it...almost. She only had a moment of relief before she was pulled up again and pushed towards a large fenced in area. The guarded gate was opened and she was pushed in and ended up stumbling to try to keep the weight off her ankle. She stood and watched him walk away. "You better hope your gods are always watching after you." She called after him. She wouldn't be in here forever. And when she wasn't, he better watch out.
