He leaned forward and she lifted her chin, grinning. "My mother was one of the Montgomery family," she told him at last, and shrugged. "The family has been in the area for a long time." A long time. "There isn't much to look into, really. I can tell you all the juicy bits." She moved over to his bench, taking a seat next to him and neatly crossing her legs.

"You are," she told him with faux-solemnity, "But I try not to give in to stereotypes. After all, I find that my own stereotype is hardly as flattering as I hope the reality is." she tilted her head towards him, the light falling on her face, as blinding as the lights at a photoshoot. "I am," she agreed, glad he'd found his way to recognizing her at last. "Men, women, photographs, painting, sculpture, fashion. Model, canvas." Her eyebrow raised, though she doubted he could see it in the dark. "It is hard work."

But oh, she loved it.

The lights, the cameras, the heavy makeup, the hot clothes, the high heels and the pressure. They moved her, positioned her, and told her what they wanted. The expectations were heavy, but clear-cut goals were something she could strive for and achieve, a measurable result. There were other thrills too, in the traveling, the meeting new people, making good connections, being admired- well. Maybe she fit a bit of a stereotype.

"I do not doubt it," he said. He had nothing but respect for models, although he gave higher consideration to those who modeled for paintings; painting was photography's far superior cousin. Photography was for accuracy, but painting was for feeling, and memory, and art. "You did an editorial with the Italian Vogue, if I recall," he said. "The one with the dress made of... fresh flowers?" It had been on display in the same gallery as his work, actually, if in a different room. He had seen it while doing something similar to this, hiding from the rest of the world.

He flicked a glance up at a momentary stuttering of the lights in the windows. "Oh dear," he said. "It looks like we might have been made." They still had time before anyone would have a moment to come out here and roust them from their hiding-hole.

"Perhaps we can meet up again, later, and you can show me around," he proposed. "I am sure I can make it worth your while."

Her eyes lit up as he was able to name off one of her favorite pieces. "I did," she breathed, and if it had been lighter, he might have been able to see her face light up with pleasure, not just hear it in her voice. "It was fresh flowers," she agreed. She laughed wryly, remembering the way they had been running around re-pinning flowers that seemed to be wilting, wondering if they should have done this shoot with fake flowers. Every place she had wanted to put her hands- there were flowers.

More to the point, it had been cold and the breeze had been fake, but she'd had one heck of a time pretending it was a warm, breezy Spring on those outside shots. Especially with some of the lovely, imported flowers being still damp. Her hair had been wild, her curls left to fly free. She'd never felt so wildly feminine, and it had shown. That article had really been what launched her career.

"We what?" She turned towards the light, seeing the shadow in the window moving away. "We can still run and hide," she told him, feeling oddly wicked. "But here." She reached into her purse, pulling out a small comp card, with her contact information on the back. "It's all I have, ignore the measurements. The phone number is accurate."

"I'd be happy to show you around," she agreed. "Just give me a call, my schedule is usually fairly flexible unless I am booked for work."

That would have been a nightmare, he thought, trying to imagine the logistics for a similar painting. Well, you'd have to take a photograph to get the angles and the lighting right... and then improve upon it, obviously... "Too late," he said, wryly, as a door opened near them. "I am in an astoundingly awful position for running, anyway." He tapped his temple, smiling a little--it was sincere enough.

The docent--Irinei recognized the overpowering smell of the man's cologne--stopped a few feet away, a flashlight in hand. "Oh, Mr. Lazarev," he said. "Um. Your presence is requested inside." Irinei ignored him and reached into the interior pocket of his blazer for his name card carrier. Opening the silver case, he traded his card for hers.

"Perhaps I'll see if I can't book you for something," he said. "You do have the most astonishing eyes." He rose, and held out a hand for her to take. "We should return to the party," he said. "Otherwise I imagine my hosts will be quite put out."

Jada could feel her lips twitch as Irinei tapped his temple. "Well," she drawled sweetly, "We could have at least made a waddle for it." He had a good point though, about being concussed. It would have been hard to explain how she was able to carry a man almost a foot taller than herself up to the house while barely straining. She would have had to leave him laying in the dirt if he swooned.

It was when the man called Irinei Mr. Lazarev, that Jada made a little bit of a connection. Ah! She'd researched this once, when her mother was explaining her mother's side of the family, and why their family tree had such odd names. Patronymic! She closed her eyes, smiling to herself in the dark wryly. Hadn't even thought about it- but he'd been polite enough to give her the easy way out. Which was good, since she'd understood the Patronymics and Surnames, but never quite understood them.

She accepted his card, sliding it neatly into her purse. "I'd be happy to oblige," she told him easily, a quick, genuine smile springing to her lips. She slid her hand into his easily. "I suppose it would be terrible if they got upset. I'd have to fling more of my money at them." her eyebrow arched, and she followed him obediently towards the light. "it's alright though, Irinei. We have our favorite dance partners waiting just inside."

"Yes, Jada," he said, smiling as they followed the docent back indoors. "It would be a shame. Keep your money, I imagine it is useful for keeping a lady like yourself in style."

He brightened just slightly at the reminder of the champagne, and decided his first order of duty would be to arrange fresh glasses for the pair of them.
