Lenore shrugged at Shakuntala's inquiry. "Like I said, I got thrown off a horse, once. And the last time I rode one, it spent most of the time trying to bite my hand. So, I don't know. Not well, I guess." The girl looked up at the familiar sound of her best friend, and, seeing Zinnia, gave the older girl a small wave as she approached. "Hey, Zin. She's just helping me understand horses, because I don't get them. I wrote on the paper that you could join in, if you want."

"What paper?" Zin queried. "I just wandered over here, I didn't know you guys were here!" She grinned. "Glad I could make it though. I'll just grab a horse then?" She was off in a flash, impatient to catch up with her friend. She'd had basic training with horses, so she understood how to take care of them and their equipment... at least in theory. She'd had minimal practice. "Who's a friendly horse?" she asked as she entered the stall. She clucked lightly, and spotted a horse that looked up with interest at the sound. "You look nice," she said softly. It was a golden-colored beast with a cream mane and tail. Zinnia grabbed a halter and rope off its hook on the wall and slipped into her chosen horse's stall. It obediently held still as Zin fitted the halter over its head and tied the rope. Finally, she opened the stall and lead it out to the others. She waved to Lenore and Tala as she returned. "This is a pretty horse. Friendly, too. I don't think I've worked with him before; do you know his name?" She directed the question to Tala. ((Hope I'm not god-modding here; I have no idea how difficult it is to work with horses. XD I figure Zin will have the basics down, though, because it's a requirement to know and she doesn't afraid of anything.))

Shakuntala's maroon eyes flickered between Lenore and Zinnia. After bidding the latter welcome and indeed, she was free to join them in horse training, the trainee continued to study the two before opening her mouth to speak.
"T-that's fine... A lot of p-people aren't good with horses..."
Of course, the horse lover was to blame the people for their misunderstanding of the hoofed quadrupeds. One can't soil the name of such creatures so humble and sweet, yes? She didn't voice this, however; she was there to be supportive, not condescending. Her boots crunched the gravel beneath as she approached Lenore.
"I-I'll guide your horse, s-so you can ride it with ease," she offered. "It... I-it won't throw you off, p-promise."
As she said this, she turned her head to Zinnia and replied, "Y-yes, that's... T-that's Archer." Upon glancing into the honey-colored beast's face, she bowed her head in a blush. "H-he's very pretty... P-probably the prettiest h-horse in the stalls..."

Lenore tentatively got on the horse. Turning to Tala, she blinked. "What now?"

"Nice to meetcha, Archer!" Zin said, patting the beautiful horse on the nose. She was apparently oblivious to Tala's reaction to the sight of the magnificent example of equine. She clambered into the saddle and picked up the reins. Archer, sensing that his rider was about to issue him a command, perked up.
Zin looked expectantly at Tala. "What now?" she echoed Lenore.

Shakuntala couldn't help looking to both of the girl's faces with a look of bewilderment, but hastily exchanged the expression to something more scholarly. For that brief iota of time, she couldn't help but find Zinnia and Lenore endearing. By no means in a childish sense, more along the lines of how similar their inquiries sounded.
They were quite alike. And unbeknowest to her, she was beginning to discover the charms of LeZin.Taking the reins of the black-haired girl's horse in a fist, she considered both of them and said, "[Colorado=darkted]F-for now, we're just going to take the h-horses around the area. N-nothing too fast... If you can L-Lenore, gently press your heels into Velvet's sides. Y-you too, Zin..."
With that, Shakuntala began leading the horse about.

Lenore did as instructed, and the horse began trotting forward, lead by Shakuntala. The girl looked down at the animal she rode with a small measure of wariness.

Zinnia did the same. She lightly tapped her heels against Archer's sides, and the horse immediately started forward, following Tala's lead. Zinnia automatically tautened her abdominal muscles; the rocking motion of the horse's movement took a moment to adjust to. She relaxed a little more, feeling the rhythm of Archer's gait. She beamed across at Lenore, hoping to transmit some of her own confidence to the younger trainee.

A proud smile encompassed the copper-skinned girl's face as Zinnia followed along with Lenore. Unfortunately, she caught the weariness on the girl's face with relative ease and slowed down Velvet a bit to make her comfortable.
Shakuntala continued to run the two through several more runs, gently easing them into comfort and good control of their horses. Eventually, she ended the course on good terms; she was impressed with the progress they had made. What was hard to decipher was whether it was her teaching or their quick ability to pick up the skills that was brought to questions.
But the horse lover was content to (hopefully) make the two girls lovers of the hoofed quadrupeds as well.
