While Seiji worked the lock she settled in to watch the movie and knit, occasionally looking down at her work and then at Seiji's, then the skelevision. Junko smiled at the screen, humming along with it; it took several attempts but she had finally seen the entire movie uninterrupted when watching it on her own. It was why she had a copy. Finally she heard the click and her heart stopped. Glowing green eyes turned down to the box being offered to her. She smiled, offering a quiet thank you while taking it from him. Turning it so he couldn't see inside, Junko peeked into it, fishing for what was inside and hiding it in a clenched fist. She cleared her throat and set everything on the coffee table before curling up on the couch to lean her full weight against Seiji. One hand found his, holding it to deposit whatever was in her hand onto his palm and then carefully close his fingers around it. If he opened his hand to investigate he would find a familiar ring in the palm of his hand, and if he looked her way he would see a pair of glowing green eyes nervously watching him.

The box opened, Seiji had settled back into the corner of the couch, attention finally lifting to the screen to see Sarah drawing arrows on the ground in lipstick. Assuming Junko was simply checking the contents of the box, he didn't notice her setting everything aside on the table until she'd curled up beside him and taken his hand. It had him looking down at her, brows arched in question, as something small was pressed into his palm. It was as she was closing his fingers around it that he realized what it was, and dark features set into thoroughly thoughtful lines. For a moment he just looked down at her, at those emerald eyes staring up at him, gauging his reaction. Then he looked down as dark fingers opened, and there was a pang in his chest as he stared down at the ring he'd dropped at her feet a year ago. It looked the same, and for some reason that was startling. He held it up between two fingers, following the antique sweep of the gold and the champagne diamonds. He remembered offering it to her, and watching her face crumble, and hearing the absolute worst answer spill out of those pretty lips. It had been devastating, crushing, overwhelming. It had felt like his entire life had shattered in that moment, and there was nothing that could have ever even begun to fix it. But, he also remembered when he had picked it up from his parents, and how happy he'd felt, and how overjoyed his parents had been. That was the memory he held onto now, and the rest was left alone. It had happened, but they were together again, and they were trying to fix things and make it all work. Dwelling on the worst of the past wasn't going to help. But remembering the best, that would help them reforge what they had had in the beginning. He wasn't sure what to say though. He looked down at the ring, turning it in the soft light, and didn't have a jack damn clue what to say. So instead he turned to look back down at the ghoul, searching her face, and then bent, tucked a finger beneath her chin, and kissed her.

Junko couldn't take her eyes off him, she couldn't not watch him look down at the tiny little thing that had haunted her for over a year. Her heart raced and she nearly forgot how to breathe. He wasn't saying anything. He wasn't doing anything. Had she made a mistake? "I.." Her voice was barely a squeak. "" Junko reached out to take the ring from him, holding it in trembling fingers. "horrible mistake, but I was too late to fix it. I..so I just...forced myself to try to move on a-and...>"
He still wasn't saying anything. Say something. Do something. She looked down at the ring again and actually put it on her left ring finger. Junko sniffed, wiping her eyes with the back of her right hand. "
Seiji finally moved and looked at her and tear-filled eyes searched his face as he did her. Was he angry? Should she have kept it to herself? Waited longer? Gotten rid of it? She couldn't bring herself to get rid of the ring. But then he touched her face and the next moment his lips were on hers. Junko whimpered and returned the kiss, throwing her arms around him and pulling him down to her.

He wondered how the last year might have been if he'd known from the beginning how much she'd regretted turning him down. He wondered if they could have picked right back up, if she'd have changed her mind, and been fine. Probably, at least for a little while, it would have been fine, but nothing would have been resolved. They still would have had their problems. Worst yet, Seiji had felt so incredibly resentful towards her, he'd have used that mistake against her, a petty punishment for every little thing that prickled at him.
No. No as much as he'd missed her, it wouldn't have worked if she'd gone racing after him.
Glowing eyes watched as she slid the ring onto his finger. He still wasn't sure what to say, but he didn't need words. Junko whimpered, crawling up to throw her arms around his neck, and he pulled her to him. Fingers moved over her back, kneading into the muscles along her spine before sliding up until one hand disappeared into her hair. He broke the kiss, but only so he could lay lips against the corner of her mouth before sliding his cheek along her's.

Junko had thought it was for the best, that with how she had been feeling Seiji deserved better than her and it was best for both of them if they weren't together. She had had no intention of ever seeking out another relationship, the thought had never once crossed her mind, and it had hurt to hear how quickly Seiji had seemingly moved on. She had thought such horrible, awful things out of spite and hatred for Sarias. It actually made her happy to hear things with Sarias hadn't worked out; she didn't deserve Seiji, not ever.
He pulled her to him as she pulled him to her, and she ended up turning so her legs draped across Seiji's lap. His lips moved and she reacted in kind, kissing his cheek and brushing her warm nose against cool skin. She wanted to speak, to tell him how much she loved him and how sorry she was, but he already knew all of that. Instead she just clung to him, kissing his cheek and up the line of his jaw until she could kiss just under his ear. Junko buried her face against that cool skin of his, fingers clenching into tight fists and clinging desperately to him.
"" she whispered, tears still escaping her eyes and wetting his skin. Junko laid her lips against him in a kiss. ""

A pettier soul than he would have pointed out that it had been her that had let him go, but all the pettiness he'd felt was gone now. He didn't want to hold onto the past, he wanted to learn from it. So he held on, holding her to him as he rocked slowly back and forth with her in his lap. "" He intended to keep her, to stay with her, and to be with her. He didn't want anyone else.

The rocking calmed her down considerably. She still sniffed every now and then, but it eventually stopped, and when it did she lifted her head to kiss him again. It was soft and sweet, not drawn out or overly dramatic, it was a kiss more about meaning than intimacy.
After the kiss she rest her forehead against his, lips brushing against Seiji as she murmured quietly, ""

When she began to calm again he leaned back into the corner of the couch, just holding her now, lips brushing the top of her head and leaving the occasional kiss until she was catching his mouth in something short and sweet.
Brow to brow, glowing eyes were half lidded as he watched her, a soft smile on his lips.
He was grateful to the ghoul for giving him the time he wanted to work back into an engagement. He wasn't opposed, but he didn't want to jump straight into it, not after everything. He loved her, but he was wary. So he kissed her again, a little deeper this time, seeking to distract as he found her hand and very slowly slid the ring from her finger so he could tuck it safely into his pocket.
When he drew back he was grinning, an impish sort of smile that had always meant he was teasing her.

It would be foolish of not only her but him as well to just assume them trying to fix things meant they were going to pick up where they left off. No, jumping right into an engagement just because they were happy right now, fixing things, and most likely high on the joy of being together again, was probably the worst idea for them. They still needed time, there was still so much to do.
He kissed her again and she returned the kiss, making a happy little noise when she felt the ring leave her finger. Good, she was going to suggest he hold onto it anyway. Glowing green eyes opened halfway, teeth pressing into her bottom lip around a smile when she saw that grin. She knew that grin. "You're done talking," she observed quietly. "Bed?"

"Mmhmm." It was a lazy hum, and his tongue slipped out to flick across her lips as she pressed teeth into the lower one.
He wasn't tired, but he didn't think she was talking about going to sleep. So he tucked his arms beneath her knees, cradling her against his chest, and hoisted himself back to his feet so he could make his way back towards the bedroom, with only a momentary pause so she could hit the button to turn the tv off.
