Whistle smiled at the dark-dappled stallion, inclining her head in a faint nod. "I am grateful to you for your welcome and your understanding. It is difficult to become a stranger in a strange land. I am not entirely sure of what I am missing, but it seems like most of my world.."

She gave a soft cough and shrugged, dropping her head shyly. She hadn't really intended to share so much, but what was said was said. And it was true, there was no harm in sharing it. She had lost everything and she intended to get it back. If these stallions and their two-legger would help her, or could help her, it would be well worth it.

"I thank you for your invitation... While it may not be permanent, I would be happy to bide here awhile. And happier still if your two-legger can offer me some aid. My head hurts terribly, so even if she could not bring my memories back, getting rid of the pain would be a kindness."

For all that he could not imagine what she had gone through, losing all of her life and her memory... Imrikalto could well imagine how upsetting and unnerving it must be. The gratitude in her tone made him huff softly, ducking his head to hide behind his forelock. 'Tis no big thing, I wish there was more we could offer...'

Imrikalto gave her a shy look, chuckling softly. "No trouble at all, we are pleased to make new friends."

He glanced toward Tashika as she bustled back in and out of the teepee, carrying and moving things. The next moment she trotted to his side and began sorting through the earthenware jugs and the various things he had carried back to the clearing for her. Imri gave the mare a final nod and drifted after Tashika, trusting his sire to take over the discussion.

"I hope, should you choose to settle elsewhere, you would consider visiting now and again." Sibalto offered with a tilt of his head. He could well imagine Tashika would feel protective of a patient, and having another 'allied' Clan nearby would mean more eyes to watch over the human and see that she came to no harm.

"When you find your family or friends, we would be glad to have you visit us again..."

Little dark ears swiveled forward and back, tracking movement and sound. Her muzzle and head followed, turning this way and that, seeking each sound and each sight with greedy interest. Her heart leapt at each new sight, strides high and tail flagging.

'Bird song.'

'Bright sun.'

'Waterfall.'

'Spring blossoms.'

'Rabbit.'

Learning things was hard work, exhausting even without high-sun. Thankfully the day was cool and clear, free of predators and shadows. So Daliu danced in sunlight and in shade, learning all she could manage to find and see and smell.

After many such adventures through the forest and sprinting circles around a sunlit meadow, Daliu went in search of water. There was a bit of trouble with figuring out precisely where water was, considering the fact that the smell of wet and green was everywhere around her.

'Well.. Think of something then.' She muttered to herself, flaring her nostrils and tilting her head thoughtfully. 'If everything smells like water... Maybe I should find the sound of water instead.'

So she closed her eyes tightly and drew a deep breath, holding it to listen for the sound of water's laughter. It took several moments for the sighing of the wind to calm, and the whisper of the trees to follow suit. But eventually... eventually her ears titled west, picking up on the gentle laughter of a stream that giggled and flowed toward the river. 'There!'

Dancing along riverbank brought great joy to the filly's heart, her strides gaining confidence and grace as she capered. She hedged toward the crystal-clear shallows and took a deep drink. "Best. Day. Ever!"

It was pleasant, to spend the day wandering beneath the shading trees. This part of the forest was old and settled, ancient giants bent over pleasantly rambling paths. The river's song was bright, joyously riotous over the rocks upstream. Here it was more quietly sighing, deep enough for pleasant swimming or light wading. Enough to provide music to soothe a restless heart.

She drank deeply of the cool, clear water and then returned to the woods, winding through the patchwork sun-and-shadow forest. 'Here would be a good place to settle, a good place to build a life...'

As she wandered, Whistle had to admit she was beginning to settle into her new life in this land, relaxing in the presence of allies who were slowly becoming friends. She didn't remember much of her homeland, not much more than fractured images and feelings that at times threatened to rise up and overwhelm her. But she knew this place was not her homeland, no matter how quickly it was becoming a sort of home.

'A home thanks to those friends you have made by complete accident.' Friends she was deeply grateful for.

"But time for that later... For now, let us see what we can find in this land."

Whistle And Daliu Meet (Losing Dreams)

((Time Past: 1 Month))
PostPosted: Sat Feb 07, 2015 1:09 pm

On a cheerful summer day Daliu found herself wandering once again, without the presence of an adult. She knew the friends she had met in the land would scold her for it, but only out of their worry for her safety. Still, it was not her fault she was alone. Not her plan in the slightest, really. Her family bonds were loose and unwound things, which trailed to ribbons of mist that melted in the sunlight. Overhead the sun was glorious bright, and she stood in the heart of a meadow long enough to feel it baking into her dark hide.

Closing her sky-colored eyes, the filly tilted her head and let the light wash over her. The streaming glow burned away the memory of distance and misunderstanding and the empty feeling in her chest. Warmth washed over her legs, flaming her mane and tail gold. She splayed her legs a little wider, fighting the urge to tumble to the ground and drowse in the warm sun.

This is what it was like to be loved, to be cherished and doted on. She was sure of it, and equally sure that while such feelings could not be granted from the family that was bound to her by blood... She could find it with the strange little band she had built around herself through her wandering.

'You meant to go adventuring today...' She reminded herself, even her thoughts a lazy murmur. 'Or at least to find Lady Whistle again.. To ask her for a story or a song or a little bit of company... To do more than to stand in the sun and daydream... Do you remember that?'

But the sun was soft and warm and constant... And Daliu was comforted by it, for the moment. 'Maybe... Just a few minutes...'

Whistle gave the Silver Stallions a final, fond nod and departed their home glade with restless hooves and a light heart. It was unlikely she would be back before nightfall, which meant Tashika would beat her back to the teepee. She knew that the Kiwani woman had left shortly after dawn in the presence of the wind stallion, Aureate.

No doubt she was somewhere out in the woods, collecting her herbs and various supplies for tools or crafts or what-not. The little healer was quite clever, making her salves and offering healing to those who came to her injured. She also traded with the village for various commodities, but otherwise hunted and gathered for her survival. She made welcome all who found their way to her home, no matter how far they had wandered.

Whistle was unendingly grateful for her welcome, and hoped that the stallions would be able to convince her not to worry. The indigo mare planned to return to the clearing, but first she wanted to find the filly she had crossed paths with a moon's turning past. "What mischief are you into, young Daliu?"

Far too much of the morning passed as Daliu gave herself over to the sun-soaked bask. But the warmth lulled the filly into standing still (which in itself was a feat) and then to lingering... And at some point into laying down. At first she had merely tucked her legs under her belly and curled herself into a little ball, nose tucked over her rump. Within moments her eyes had closed and she gladly gave herself over to the nap.

Time moved in fast-forward while she napped. She had woken to find herself splayed on her side, her head pillowed in clover, and a butterfly perched on her ear. The insects legs tickled and made her giggle softly to herself.

"Huh..." She yawned, stretching her limbs and lifting her head. "Well... I didn't mean for that to happen."

Tilting her head to consider the sky, she noted the sun was past the highest point, which meant the morning was lost and she hadn't made much progress in her wandering. That idea alone made her scramble to her feet, shaking grass and wild-flower petals loose from her coat. She snorted softly to herself and snatched a mouth of clover, then bolted into the woods in a bounding trot that the wild deer had taught her.

"Alright, better late than never. Here I go, on an adventure!"

Whistle laughed softly to herself as she wandered through the woods, her eyes seeking the particular shade of purple she remembered as Daliu's coat. It seemed that even though the filly was not blood of her blood, here she was searching for a lost child just as she searched for her family.

'Well, perhaps with bit more luck.' Whistle amended. 'At least this foal I remember with perfect clarity, and I have an idea on where to find her. That is more than I can say for my blood family...'

Shaking off the lingering doubts, the indigo mare drew herself up tall and resumed her walk. She would find the filly she had adopted as her own, and with a little luck she'd arrive in time to extract her from any mischief she'd managed to entangle herself in.

"Let fate be kind, to this one." She whispered softly to the trees. "And keep her safe until I can find her."
