I do what I must

Freya followed her guard to her room, letting a silence settle between them. She still wasn't sure about him, just something about the way he looked, the way he spoke, that unsettled her. But being the actress that she was, she hid all of it. When they reached her door, she waited at the threshold, a tension filling her.

"After you have taken my luggage to my room, yes, you may leave for a while. I need to freshen up from the trip," she instructed haughtily. Taking a breath, she walked into her new living space.

Taking it all in with a single glance, she was both relieved and insulted. It was a modest size, perfect for a single person, but after all the glamour of her prison like home, this was sparce, nearly squaller like conditions. However, if it meant being away from those who tormented her, then she would swallow her complaints and deal with it.

"Return when dinner is announced," she commanded in her most condescending manner. Then, as she looked out one of the big windows that filled the living room with natural light, she added in softer tone.

"Then, if its not too late, maybe a tour of the grounds. I should like to know more about where I am staying."

It was then that she heard voices out in the hall. Looking over her shoulder, she hoped it was one of the maids or another tenant. What she saw instead made her heart stop. Across the hall from her door, another tenant was being shown to their new quarters. But it was not the girl, who walked with an air of sadness about her, but the gentlemen who carried her things and spoke most cheerily, that gave her reason to freeze like a doe in headlights.

"Elliot?" she whispered, almost scared that he would hear. How could this be? she thought. Why was he here? The memory of their last meeting sent chills up her spine. She couldn't help leaning slightly to get a better look, her hand raised near her mouth in a look of surprise.

Mine Furubashi
User Image

As soon as Trenton walked through the gates, out of nowhere a bucket of water was dumped on his head. The bucket clattered to the ground, but as far as anyone could tell, it had appeared out of nowhere. A gust of wind suddenly picked up as soon as the bucket hit the ground, then mysteriously died down as fast as it came. As it was daylight, one would hardly be able to tell that there was a ball of light, glowing softly, high overhead. It streaked back to the building.

As soon as Trenton made it to the front steps, the front door swung open. A girl stood there in the doorway, bowing as he approached. "Mr. Lernaean, I presume?" she said politely, though there seemed to be a tone of mocking in her voice. Looking at him, she raised an eyebrow. "Why are you wet? It hasn't rained all day here." She giggled, covering her mouth with a slender hand. For she knew the exact reason why he was drenched; she'd been the one to dump water on him. A harmless prank, but nonetheless it would get her in trouble. Holding out her hand, she introduced herself. "My name is Mine Furubashi. From today on I'll be your bodyguard, Mr. Lernaean." She gave him a smile.

"Mine!" The building manager came storming out, causing Mine to give a low growl and retract her hand. "You've gone and done it again, haven't you? How many times do I have to tell you, no tricks!" Turning to Trenton, he bowed apologetically. "I'm so sorry, sir, but she's our newest bodyguard. She still has yet to learn everything. I hope she hasn't offended you in any way." From behind the manager's back, Mine stuck out her tongue and made silly faces, jeering at the man from where he couldn't see. In response, he yanked on her ear, causing her to protest. "If you'd be so kind, Ms. Furubashi, please show your charge to his room." Having been released, Mine gave a sulky face, rubbing her tender ear. "Mr. Lernaean, if you'd follow me please." Mine said, but her voice was syrupy sweet, mocking the manager without actually using her magic. Turning heel, she stalked off towards the stairs.

[[Sorry if there's no building manager, I just wanted to have someone of authority to interact with Mine so that this would turn out the way I wanted]]

Trenton.H.Lernaean

Trenton could feel the cold splash as it hit him on the head and shoulders. Finally the clang of the bucket and the gust of wind accompanying it made him realize something weird was going on. He was glad it was no longer hot at the moment, but realized that he probably should get inside and dry off. As he got closer to the door a new face emerged and as cute as she appeared to be Trenton could tell she was the cause right away as she started speaking. He thought her introduction was a bit off, and the word Mine or a name was weird to him, then again his last name was Lernean based off the Hydra of old so who was he to judged.

A man came out and started scolding the young woman, but he was still drenched and was about to say something as the two started to argue it seemed. The word guardian struck him kind of odd as he was not told he was getting one and why would you need one here? Is there some danger or is it from others who reside here? He didn't know the answer and started to follow Mine along before turning back at the man who scolded her. "Don't be too mad, she actually helped me out back there. I am from the north and the water really cooled me off." He got to the stairs with her and looked up at her and decided to let her show him the way as he didn't know his way around the place.

Aaron.C.Typhon

Aaron had heard a bit of condescending in her voice, but decided to ignore it especially when she acted a bit nicer on her second request. He wasn't sure what it was, but she was definitely an odd one, she could hide her emotions, give false ones, at differently where she was, a true thespian if you would. He didn't know what would cause someone to act like this, but this meant there was no way she was going to trust him easily. He had started to head out of the room like she had requested until hearing her say something. He had looked back at her and not knowing what she had said was going to ask her to repeat herself until he saw the look on her face. He was confused at first until he looked back to see others in the hall. He did not know them and could only assume that his new tenant did. "Freya, I will be taking my leave now. I will come get you when requested unless there is anything more you should need." He says closing the door behind him.

It was her personal issue and not his so he decided not to worry about it all too much. He felt a thump in the back of his mind and grabbed his forehead again. "...No..." he says in a low mummer as though he was suppressing something or saying no to whatever he was thinking about. With that he looks up at the two in the hallways and smiles at them with a small wave "Hello you two." Is all he says as he starts to make his way down stairs, but stops so that he can let the two coming up pass by only wondering why one was soaked.

Kanoe Bishop
User Image

The boy had taken her by surprise, so much so that in that moment he'd been able to take her bags and started to lead her into the house. "W-wait a minute! Hold on a second!" She cried out, but he was already moving towards the building. Trying to find her words, she ran after him, skirts swishing about her legs as she ran after him. The spring in his step bothered her, as she wasn't used to others being so....upbeat around her. Even her twin sister, Pili, was never this hyper when she was near.

Catching up to him, she grabbed onto one of her bags. "I-I can get these myself." Kanoe stuttered out, not used to the attention. So used to being left to do her own thing, it was very unnerving to her how he could be willing to wait on her hand and foot. Still, he was able to distract her with the pretense of her own room. Turning her attention into the room, she took a hesitant step inside. It was sparse, a simple bed, desk, and end table were what decorated her room this far. But deep down, Kanoe was happy to finally have her own space. She had always needed to share her room with Pili, and it always stood out sorely how much more cherished she was than Kanoe.

Snapping out of her reverie, she noticed that Elliot had moved her bags inside. Before she could voice her discomfort, however, the tenant across the hall from her had called out to her bodyguard. It seemed like they were acquaintances of sorts, making Kanoe feel much more uncomfortable. Taking her chances, she slipped past Elliot, heading back downstairs. Kanoe wanted to go outside, where she could hopefully find a quiet corner to herself and calm her nerves. Being around too many people always made her feel on edge.

I won’t go away,...

"What wrong Ms. Bishop...?" His voice dropped as he followed her gaze. It was easy to put a mask on to hide his emotions, but he doubted the girl across the hall would be fooled for a moment. He was actually thankful Kanoe made a run for it, it allowed him to turn his attention away before someone saw him.

"Afternoon." He muttered to her bodyguard as he finished setting his tenant's bags in her room. Quickly locking the door behind him he stole a quick gaze into the room across the hall. He shoved any emotions and embarrassment in his back pocket. "Have a nice day Miss Freya." Instead of an apologetic smile he gave his most upbeat smile. You can't change the past, so there was no use regretting it. With a quick bow he chased after the girl that had gotten a good head start on him.

How long had it been, serving the gods and their families one does lose track of time. He couldn't change things, no matter how badly he wanted. She deserved far better than him anyway. To many emotions for one moment, and he couldn't act upon any of them. He cursed their luck, surly she didn't want to see him after their encounter. He wondered his under different circumstances....would they have been friends? He didn't know, and it was to early to try and figure things out.

As he exit the building and began to look around. He knew it wasn't safe for any of the tenants to walk around alone, else they wouldn't be here. He kinda hoped she'd just let him know where she was. He wasn't in the playing games type mood. He'd have to let her know that it was for her own safety that he at least knew were she was. The last thing he needed was a dead girl, he'd really hate if this job was more deadly then his last one...this was coming from the guy that had seen things...terrible things.

Snapping out of his old war stories he kept looking around. His cheerful attitude still showed through his slight annoyance. He couldn't be upset with anyone but himself. After all it was his fault for letting it still bother him. "Miss Bishop...please if nothing else let me give you the key to your room." He had a hopeful smile as he stood in the middle of the grounds, absolutely no clue were to look for her.

"If it sweetens the deal I can turn into a giant white horse with wings...that shoots lightening." It was a cheap shot, but he really had no idea what he was dealing with.

Kanoe dashed out about the garden, trying to find a place to just get away from everything. Finding a quiet clearing in the trees, she plopped down, her skirt billowing around her as she sat. Heaving a sigh, she turned her gaze upwards to the canopy above. It was so quiet and peaceful, which at least made her happy. Relaxing, she called out to the birds, who soon began flocking towards her. Landing onto her outstretched hands and all around her, she began to speak casually to them. They never judged her for who she was, they only judged her for her kindness.

Birds twittered in the trees near Elliot, curious about the man. Cocking their heads to the side they observed him before swooping down. They grabbed the hem of his shirt and sleeves, gently tugging him towards the trees. They knew he only meant to help Kanoe, so they decided to lead him to her.

Quite honestly, Mine was mildly surprised that he had stuck up for her like that, but quickly shrugged it off. Everyone started off like that, brushing off her tricks, until they finally got sick and tired of it. She couldn't help it though; it was hard to go against her nature, especially after spending so long locked away. She narrowed her eyes, she'd try her best to not get locked away again, but for now, she would enjoy her freedom. Taking he stairs two at a time, she bobbed her head as to acknowledge the other bodyguard who had called out a greeting. Turning down the opposite way from the others, she opened the first door she came to. "This is your room, Mr. Lernaean." She said, making a sweeping gesture to the inside as she opened the door for him. Letting him enter first, she watched him as he took in his surroundings.

"Besides a towel, is there anything you'd like me to do for you? Take you around the place, get you a snack, maybe?" Mine asked, though she despised the thought of running around, playing fetch like a trained dog. Still, if it meant her not being locked in a cold damp, cell, she'd grit her teeth and bear with it. She leaned against the doorway, waiting for her answer before she ran off to get him a towel to dry off.

I do what I must

"No, thank you," she murmured softly, eyes still trying to catch a glimpse of the young man behind Aaron. Then she caught herself, shifting her gaze to her gaurd, a smile replacing the surprise. "I shall see you at dinner then."

Then, right as Aaron was shutting the door, the pegasus spoke to her. It didn't matter that it was only a farewell. She didn't need to see the smile to know it was there. Freya was sincerely glad that Aaron had shut the door. A second after being left alone, her knees, which had been trembling the whole time, finally started to give. With a sigh, she leaned against the wide sill of the window behind her.

"This complicates things," stated flatly, her eyes downcast. Was he sent here to keep an eye on me as well? she thought frantically. After thinking, paniking, then rethinking things, she decided that it didn't change her plans. Things would work out, they had to.

"Time for that refresher," she announced to no one in particular as she pushed away from the sill. Heading straight to the bathroom, she flipped the switch and sighed happily. "Well at least this is decent," she said she she turned to facet on, proceeding to fill the sink with cool water. Splashing some of the water on her face, the coolness made her smile, more in control of herself. That's right, you can do this hun. It's just another act to follow. Just another day to get through, she thought as she toyed her blonde curls into perfect chaos around her headband.

"Eyes on the prize."

『∽』The world is always full of troubles

"Do not worry, no one will bother your belongings where they are. The attendants will see that it is taken to your room when they are finished sorting out the paperwork," he informed her gently.

With a nod, he lead the way out into the yard to the east of the building. The grounds were all interconnected, but this section was dedicated as more of an open lawn with a large patio and fire pits for nighttime gatherings. Holding the door open, he let her walk into the sunwarmed area at her own pace.

"You honor me Serena," he admitted unabashedly when she told him to call her so casually. When he heard the uncertainty in her voice, his expression was understanding.

"Yes, it is a mouthful if you aren't used to it," he agreed with a laugh. "You may call me Sesha, if it pleases you." In fact, most people did. He felt honorifics were wasted on him, for he didn't see himself as any better than anybody else. However, he knew that many still clung to such societal gestures, so tried not to force others out of their comfort zones. There were still a few who called him Mr. Mahabharata, as if he were his father, which always seemed to amused him.

"I enjoy all nourishment for my body," he said in reply to her question on pasteries. "But anything with sugar is a rare commodity, rarely seen in my house. So I partake of it whenever I can." Sesha remembered growing up, being raised to foresake all earthly pleasures. All needs of the body were distractions from the minds' path to enlightenment.

"This is the east patio," he motioned to the two rows of lawn chairs and recliners. "Tenants are able to enjoy the clear whether and sometimes they even hold bbq's," he explained. "To the south is the gardens, where we grow various things. You are always welcome to help tend them. To the north is the outdoor pool, whoever the entrance there also leads to a public bath. All the rooms have a bath, but it is nice to enjoy a soak with a view from time to time."

Sesha stood a few paces behind her, letting her explore as she wished, feeding her the information as they went. He didn't want to overwhelm her, but he knew that there wasn't much to the tour so might as well make it as simple as possible.

Elliot followed the twittering birds that dragged him forward. It wasn't the oddest way to get his attention...that was more than for sure. He wondered now if he had scared the girl with his energetic ways. Once they reached her he stood back for a moment. He wasn't a bird, but he did have wings, even if she couldn't see them.

"Hey..." He spoke softly not wanting to scare her off again. "Your friends showed me where you were. I didn't get a chance to give you the key to your room before you wondered off." Gently he took her hand a placed have her the key before backing off slowly. "Would you mind if I sit and join you, this is a wonderful place to read at." Reaching in his belt pocket he pulled out a book and smiled at her.

Over selling himself didn't work, and he was to hyper for her, so maybe if he tried to be softer he wouldn't get such a bad reaction. He'd never had a easy time talking to girls unless it was business. Then again he wasn't good at talking to anyone to be honest. He'd never got a real chance to know people for anything other than the dirty secrets he carried for them.

"If you like later, I think there is a bird sanctuary on the other side of the grounds. Lots of space dedicated to the feathery ones."

Flawless in every single thing I do

"Well we will be spending a lot of time together for a while, maybe I'll learn how to say it properly." She smiled as she spun around in the sunlight. "After all it's you that's honoring me. I've never been on first names basis with anyone but my sisters." Which didn't fully count after all they did share the same name. All then of them.

For someone who grew up at the bottom of the ocean, she truly love the sun. As she stopped spinning she smiled before gasping. "Oh dear, I'm so sorry Kan." Terrified she carefully took the jacket of and handed it back to Sasha. "I hope I didn't make him too dizzy." She apologized before slowly backing off and began dancing around in the sunlight again. She kicked her shoes off and began enjoyed the grass between her toes.

She listened as he continued to tell her about the various things the grounds held. At the sound of a pool she perked her ears and turned her head. Then she remembered other people would want to enjoy the small swimming area, and a full size mermaid would look rather odd to the other tenants. Letting her shoulders drop for a moments she shook her head. Maybe he could take her to the beach one day.

"Do you think in the kitchen they will teach me how to make sweet treats?" She asked aimlessly as she wondered around. She hoped if they would let her help in the garden, then maybe she could help in the kitchen and learn to bake. As they walked though she noticed her legs were becoming more and more wobbly. As much as she loved running through the sun, she knew her legs weren't strong enough yet. One day she would have the strength to dance the night away, but now clearly was the time. During the middle of a spin she came crashing to the ground like the always did. She couldn't curse herself, instead she smiled. She had gone so much longer than last time, and since she would have to live here from now on legs were a necessity.

So she decided to just lay down in the grass under the warmth of the sun. She didn't want Sasha to worry for her, after all it happened every time she went out for to long. It was something she was more than use to after all. After a moment she sat back up with a wide smile on her face. "Sasha could I ask you an odd favor? Could you pick me some flowers and bring them to me?"

"Was it wrong of me to run off like that, you think? I don't mean to hurt his feelings, it's just--" a soft rustle and his soft voice made her jump, and she whirled around to see him. She was on edge for a second, until she realized that his entire aura had changed. What was once hyper was calm, almost as if he had done a 180 on his personality. Still, she could feel that he meant no harm, and visibly relaxed. As he gently took her hand, she noted how warm his hands were. After he gave her the key, she clutched it to her chest. She was surprised that Elliot had been able to change his attitude so quickly, but regardless, she was thankful for it.

"U-um, yeah. Go right ahead." Kanoe managed to stutter out, gesturing to the spot next to her. She didn't entirely understand why he was asking her, but at least he had asked. She went back to petting the birds, but she was very aware of his presence. This time, however, though she was awkwardly silent, she was able to bear with it, stroking the birds heads in silence. After a few minutes, she decided to speak up.

"Listen.....I'm sorry I ran off earlier. I'm....not that good with dealing with people. Thanks, for....understanding that." She said softly, scratching a bluejay's neck gently. Despite being in an entirely different place, birds tended to be the same no matter where they were, so she was able to easily get along with most. "And...I think I'd like to go there later. The bird sanctuary, I mean."

"Trust me, your not the first girl I've scared off." He said with a grin as he looked up from his book. "You get use to it after a while. I've carried some bad news to people before...it came with my old job after all." He looked up through the thick canopy to see bits of the sky. "After getting such a dark reputation I decided to just be happy. A job is a job, and it's my families duty to honor that job. I hated caging my true self, just to get by. I change my attitude so freely because I don't want people to be afraid of me. I'd like to think that's the true me."

He smiled to himself, he was going to keep learning who the real him was. He couldn't fix things, but maybe there were some weakened bonds her could repair. He wasn't all sure how to start, but there were a few things he could still make right. He wondered if along the way he could help someone else. Looking over at Kanoe he gave another smile.

"If you like we can take a look after dinner. That's usually when they put out the food for them, if you'd like we can take it for the staff." That way they wouldn't have to interact with other people. More importantly she wouldn't have to interact with other. That would makes things easier for her, though he wasn't all that sure. He wasn't the best at figuring people out, and didn't always trust his judgment, sometimes it was just better to wait. Then again she did tell him that she wasn't good at dealing with others.

『∽』The world is always full of troubles

"As it pleases you," Sesha replied with a bow of his head and a hand over his heart. As her guard, it was his duty to see to her every need. He was glad that she seemed so accepting of that, knowing how so many of this age were lost in demanding for an independence they are ill equiped to maintain.

With a smile and a nod, he accepted his jacket, feeling the weight of the serpent shifting. Sesha hadn't been worried that she would do the creature any harm, at least not intentionally. Kan lifted himself halfway out of the pocket, hissing irritatedly in Sesha's face.

"Peace Kan, you aren't hurt," he chided softly, sliding his free hand along the snakes' belly. In response, Kan slid out of the pocket, up his arm and settled around his shoulders. After nestling around his neck, Kan ignored the man in favor of basking in the sun. Sesha couldn't blame him. He would have loved to stretch out in the lawn and take a nap, but then he wouldn't be doing his job and that was more important, no matter how tempting the alternative.

"I don't see why not," he answered evenly when she inquired about baking. Although she seemed to be enjoying herself, Sesha noticed the wobble in her steps after a few turns. He was thankful that she sat in the grasses a moment later, for he had been about to ask if she would like a rest. It simply would not do to have her injured or exhausted after only one day at the maison.

When she asked him to pick her some flowers, he looked over by the gardens, seeing the rows of flowerbeds and how far away they were. Without a moments hesitation he bowed his head again, hand on heart.

"As it pleases you." Then he walked in long strides that ate at the distance without looking like he was in a hurry.

Trenton.H.Lernaean

Trenton had walked in dropped his bags by his bed and sighed as he heard her speak. It was if he had a sudden shift in personality and his motions showed it. He turned around to look at the girl with a blank stare of uncaring and indifference as though he didn't care what she did to be honest or if he stayed wet even. He had sat down on the bed, the dripping was gone, but he was still damp and he looked at her for a few seconds before breathing in one good time before speaking. ".... Sure, a towel is nice and I don't need the tour... I think I will just stay in here from now on so you can go on and do whatever. Just come get me for lunch and dinner everyday. I don't need breakfast." He says laying down and looks up at the ceiling. "You are free to go if you want." Is as he says tightening his grip on the blankets as though not only getting a feel for them, but stretching a bit it seemed.
