That wasn't exactly a pleasant greeting. Verity kept her expression a controlled neutral. She tucked her wings against herself calmly, and regarded them with aloof intent. "My name is Verity. I need to speak with the herd leaders," she said. There were dark tidings she brought and she didn't think it would be appropriate to communicate them to anyone else.

Kuma flinched in embarrassment at Freyja's straightforward probing. She wasn't of the herd and he worried that she might offend the mare on behalf of it. He needed to step in quickly. "You are in the territory of the Padmapani herd," he supplied, trying to put more warmth into his voice than Freyja had shown.
"You are welcome here as long as you have no ill intent." He had heard others say that to similar surprising strangers. "Do you need rest?" he glanced again at her belly. "Or food?" He knew that the herd would gladly share their stores with a pregnant traveller, even one they didn't know.

Freyja frowned and fluttered her wings a little. None of this especially pleased her. She didn't want to admit it, but she was annoyed to have the stallion's attention diverted from her. This mare was new, beautiful, a warrior, and pregnant. Eying her more, Freyja noticed the bandages covering the end of one wing. Apparently she was wounded as well.
She frowned a little more. Kuma was entirely ignoring her now. "I wouldn't mind food!" she added, not really caring if she was being rude. The mare would probably want to stick around, and then Freyja probably would leave. She flicked her tail a little, but didn't see what she could do about any of it.
