Considering junko had ordered two of the sampler platters Seiji was going to guess one was for them, while the other was for Her. He snapped a little fried something that looked delish, chewing it slowly as he thought about where this conversation should really begin. He wasn't completely sure either, but it had to be done. Lack of communication had been their problem since day one, they just hadn't realize how large until it was crushing them.
That was where to start.
Swallowing the bite he'd taken the ghost rubbed his finger tips on his napkin before turning dark eyes down to the ghoul. "I think we need to make a promise to each other, to speak up when something is wrong." It had t just been Junko, the boil had been guilty of pushing stuff down as well. "I know we had talked about it a lot, but it still seemed to happen. I want us to work. So I promise you, if I'm hurt or mad, or something is eatjng at me, I'll tell you and we can talk about it."

Seiji was correct in his assumption. The Mistress picked the other platter right up before Junko could even so much as twitch a hand toward it, hair parting and food being shoveled into Her mouth. Junko didn't pay Her any mind, instead she sipped her tea and reached for just about anything on the plate that she could nibble on.
Ah, communication. Yes. That had been..a really huge issue despite everything. Junko nodded, gazing up at Seiji. "I promise if I'm hurt or mad, or something is eating at me, I'll tell you so we can talk about it." A pause, "I promise..I won't run away and hide if something is bothering me again. Or deflect things. Or pretend I'm okay if I'm actually not." She looked up at him with a serious expression. "I promise."
She relaxed then, gazing down at her tea again. "We should take this slow, I think. Ease into it."

She echoed his promise, adding to it, and he smiled, leaning over to give her a kiss on the cheek. "That's all I ask." If they could do that, they could make it. Seiji honestly believed that, down to his toes.
Another bit of of food was plucked from the platter, and he gave it a nibble. It was warm, a little spicy, and delicious. The rest of it, a pepper he though, with some kind of stuffing, disappeared quickly, and again he rubbed his fingers on his napkin, swallowing before he spoke again.
"That's a good idea. It's why I just tucked you in last night, instead of crawling in with you,or even crashing on the couch. I thought it for the best I just head home for the night, and we'd talk about it. Which we are."

Junko made a happy little noise as she tilted her cheek up into the kiss. Their server returned to take their actual orders, only sticking around long enough to get both Junko and Seiji's before disappearing again. Junko offered up another morsel for Seiji, and the hand that had been petting his scalp slid down to rest against the back of his neck instead.
"We are. Which is good..uh...so. Space? I'll..keep my apartment, you keep your dorm until you graduate..but we can go on dates and things. Sleepovers?" Dates were a must. They had always been a must. They always would be a must.

the bit of food offered up by the ghoul was carefully taken between sharp teeth, and he ate it gratefully. "Mmm." Junko had picked a great appetizer, there was a little of everything for them to try. So far he'd liked everything he'd sampled.
Their server had returned, taken their order, and wandered off again. He was a nice kid, very unobtrusive and polite. Def9initely earning himself a generous tip.
Of course Seiji's wonderful probably wasn't gunna hurt either.
He agreed with everything she was saying, nodding along, though a brow lofted at the word sleepover. As accurate as it was, it seemed wrong. Weren't sleepovers the things ghouls had with their friends? Pedicures, and movies, and gossip, that sort of thing? "Yes, when it feels like the right time."

What was that look for? Junko blinked. Did he not like the sleepover thing? Was it the sex? The lack of sex? Did he not want to sleep with her? Did he want to sleep with her? "No to sleepovers..?" So much confusion.

Seiji chuckled. "I said yes, I just thought we'd outgrown the word 'sleepovers' when we hit sixteen, is all." He gave her another kiss, hoping to make that puzzled look fade away. "If you want to stay in my dorm, you are always welcome to, and if you'd like me to stay with you, I would be happy to."

Junko's confused look just got worse at first. But..wait.
...Seriously?
She pouted. "What else am I supposed to call it? 'Come sleep with me' is too..suggestive." But again she tilted her cheek into his kiss despite her pouting. Junko closed her eyes and dropped her arms to wrap them around Seiji's middle, leaning her weight fully against him. "I like that."
Junko fell quiet again to just cuddle up against Seiji, her face nuzzling his shoulder before she peeked up at him through her bangs. "Neither of us will lock ourselves away when things get rough." That had also been an issue both of them were guilty of..

The chuckle turned into a laugh. "How about just 'stay the night'?" Her fingers were warm on the back of his neck, spreading heat across his skin in a whay he hadn't felt in ages. It felt good, not just because she was small and warm, but because he adored her, and he'd thought this would never happen again.
Amused features sobered a bit as she brought up their mutual tendency to shut themselves away when things got overwhelming. It was something Seiji had been working on before they'd broken up, and had continued working on it even after. In fact, given more recent plans(that he was beginning to think twice about) he was a lot more likely to face things head on than avoid them anymore. "Deal."
Their server returned and set plates down in front of the pair of them. Seiji had picked mussels. Buttery, delicious, and easy to eat. They slide right out of their shells with the slightest prod of his fork. Of course even as he began eating he was unwilling to disentangle from Junko completely. While he might have moved his arm from her shoulders, he compromised by playing his hand low on her knee beneath the table.

Her eyes never left him, even after he'd agreed to her latest demand. It was perfectly reasonable. Him locking himself away and her running away from problems instead of dealing with them in a mature and healthy manner were the reasons their relationship had met its end the first time, after all. She kissed his shoulder and then sat up straight when their server returned.
The mussels were given a curious look. Not something she had ever tried, really. But she settled in to eat her noodles, green eyes occasionally straying to look at Seiji or the mussels on his plate. The hand on her knee made her jump with surprise at first, her face heating up with a bright pink color to her cheeks. Her free hand reached down to rest on his, giving it an affectionate squeeze.

The blush didn't go unnoticed, he saw the way her cheeks lit up when he touched her leg, but he didn't respond to it. They were taking it slow, which meant no teasing. The hand on her leg was just that, a soft touch, a boil unwilling to let her go, even to eat. When she squeezed his hand it made the corners of his mouth twitch up, chest giving a happy little pulse.
He also didn't miss the flick of lovely green eyes as they took in his meal He paused, a mussel halfway, and instead offered the fork to her. "Have you ever had one? They're not real fishy tasting." They'd been steamed, and then tossed in a mild buttery garlic sauce. Quite delicious.
For a fleeting moment the boil considered asking Junko if she still had the ring he'd given her, but her refrained. It wasn't really the best time, and besides, he didn't honestly believe she'd have ever done anything to it, specially not in the short year they'd been apart. For the moment they were being careful, tip-toeing around each other, while relearning what it was like to be a couple. It was exciting, but it was also nerve-wracking at the same time.
He wanted this so badly, and he didn't want anything to risk it. If anything happened, again...he just didn't know.

The movement of his fork in her direction got her attention again. She blinked and set down her fork to look down at the food she was being offered. Junko didn't mind fish, she would eat almost anything offered to her, really. The ghoul was hardly a picky eater. "I'll try it," she accepted, leaning in with her mouth open and waiting for him to feed her.

Grinning in amusement, the boil brought the fork closer so she could steal the mussel off the tip of it. Then he'd wait, watching for reaction. "It's good, right?" Another was scooped out of it's shell, but he didn't eat it immediately, instead waiting to see if maybe she'd like another bite.

She accepted it, eating it and looking thoughtful. After enough time to decide how she felt she smiled up at him and swallowed her bite, opening her mouth in silent request for another. "It's really good. More?"

He obliged, offering the second bite to her before finally taking another for himself. It struck him then that it had been a really long time since he'd gone out anywhere for dinner. As much as he didn't want it to be an every night sort of thing, he had to admit he missed it. The atmosphere was nice, the food was delicious, and don't even get him started on the company. Gorgeous, sweet, and as she'd always been, too good to be true.
