He saw Aysel pouting, more than he heard Nereus talking to him. The polar bear frowned, getting on one knee to look at Aysel in the eye. "Aysel, would you ask your mommy if she'd let me pretend to be your daddy?" He may not have the kind of fins needed, or the wings, but he did look a lot like her. Or was it the other way around?
"Its kind of like fate. The Guardians work in strange ways." Junior shrugged. "Or is it the Waters for you?" He asked, curious. He'd met a naiad once, strange evil thing she was. But he couldn't deny that other types of pae out there had different beliefs. But where had he heard it was the waters from? Junior couldn't remember. That was going to be a point of irritation for him for a while. "Maybe... Maybe I could rebuild a house... It's kind of lonely to be on my own like this." The thought of pretending to be a little girls dad was enough to make him remember what it was like to have a house, and little ones pattering about in it.

The naiad's emerald eyes flashed wide at Juniors sudden question, her mouth parting to protest.
"Reawy?! Mommy, can he, can he, can he?!" Suddenly there was nothing more important in her life than Nereus saying yes. A real daddy, just like she always wanted! Just like the other normal families in the water.
Too late. Her mouth still open from the abandoned protest, she looked back and forth between the yellow pae. What was Junior's angle? Why did he care so much about two water pae he knew nothing about?
Did he want her cup too and was waiting to steal it? She should put an end to this right now. But then he said something peculiar. A demon, knowing about the Waters? She didn't think their kind cared to look into other cultures. "...Moreso Spiriting guiding us in this case." Looking down at Aysel one more time, she took a deep breath before answering. "Perhaps we can arrange a play date sometime where Junior can be daddy."

Junior smiled, happy to see Aysel so ecstatic. "Great! I'll bring my little sister too, I think the girls would get along really well~" The demon was really excited. And it gave him something to look forward to. Someone outside of his family wanted something to do with him, even if it was only to pretend to be a daddy again. Oh, that was going to hurt him in the long run.
"I'll have to wrestle Soliel away from Mom, but I don't think she'd mind if I told her what was going on." He thought aloud, already planning on what he could do for the girls. Soliel could use a friend outside of Siofra and the rest of the siblings, but then it looked like Aysel could use a friend too. The kids he'd raised weren't so desperate for a parent, so he couldn't be sure. It wasn't something he'd ever really experienced dealing with. Just socializing the girl was bound to keep her happy and well adjusted right?
None of this should have been his concern. Why did he care so much? Junior couldn't put a finger on it. Maybe it was a straw to grasp at, something to distract him from the sheer misery he'd been in not so long ago.

Her mother said yes? Her mother never had her interact with anyone! Aysel smiled in glee, especially at the mention of a little sister. Someone her age to play with! Finally!
It broke her heart to see Aysel so happy as it meant she had failed as a parent. Even though she had cured her own loneliness, she was shutting out Aysel's social life as well. At this rate, the little sprite would end up...like her.
No. No, Aysel deserved better than that. She was going to introduce her to the island and give her every opportunity to make friends. "Soliel...that is a beautiful name...Actually, I don't believe I've even told you mine." The first step to opening her daughters view of the world, was to open hers. "I am Nereus. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Junior smiled, glad to see the little one so happy. That face was so close to his own kids when he'd let them do something they'd been wanting to do for Guardians knew how long. He didn't even think about what it meant to the lovely naiad that was holding the little one. Making kids happy was just, well it was just second nature to the demon.
"I think my parents both put effort into her name." He grinned at Nereus. "The pleasure's mine." Junior bowed. "Nereus is just as gorgeous a name as Soliel." For once, Junior was willing to flirt a little. Yeah, all of this was going to hurt him later. How could he do that to himself? He'd been so much better the last little while, this was just torture. "When would you like to meet up again Nereus?"

At the compliment she couldn't help but smile. It was nice to be able to talk to another pae her own age, just as she was learning that she should have done with Aysel. "Tomorrow as the suns rising? The least amount of sunlight, the longer we can be out. And she can get a bit fussy at night since she's tired."
Tomorrow morning? She didn't think she could sleep with this news.

"Tomorrow morning?" He rubbed the back of his neck, thinking about it. It would certainly give him cause to go home, but would Mom let him take Soliel out so early in the day? Even if it was to make new friends? Surely, that would happen.. And maybe Siofra if she wasn't stuck to the ceiling still.
"I think I can get her away for a playdate." Junior finally decided, "If not, I'll be here anyway." That way he had an easy out. And he didn't have to get in trouble with Mom if she didn't want Soliel out like that.

The female nodded her head as they agreed on the time, her smile staying on her lips. Perhaps a tiny bit of her was looking forward to the interaction. Though of course she was still apprehensive about it. "I'll bring a snack as well. I hope you like fish." As she spoke she began to step back into the water. Both of them had enough stimulation for the day. "It was nice to meet you Junior."
They were leaving? Already? As Nereus started walking backwards, Aysel began to wiggle in protest. "B-b-bu yello!"

Junior nodded, "I'll get drinks then. Who knows what I'll find." He grinned, figuring she wouldn't really need drinks, but if she was getting fresh fish it was the least he could do. Besides, Soliel would need to drink if she came along.
"It was nice meeting you too Nereus." The yellow demon was about to bow when Aysel started wiggling. Reacting from his time with four little ones, Junior got down on the child's level and held his hand out to her. "You'll see me again very soon Aysel. Pinky swear." He offered his pinky out to the child, not wanting her to be upset at having to go for the night.
(( I would imagine a new RP would be good. ))

She had never seen Aysel act like this. Then again, she had never stopped and talked to another pae for as long as she had with Aysel in arms. She paused so the two could say their goodbyes. It really was sort of sweet in a way.
The sprite squealed in delight when Nereus paused, a hand reaching out excitedly. She grasped Juniors pinky with her whole hand.. She didn't know what a pinky swear was, but it sounded good. So she nodded in agreement to what he first said about seeing him soon.
