Text to d**k Finnicky:
A rat died on his head. That's his best feature.

An agreement is better than a commitment indeed. Preferential treatment, he supposed, was better than being tied down for someone like Finn: less expectations than the average relationship with little to no downside.

(God, the more he thought of it, the more he almost felt a stirring of envy. Finn never gave two shits. Meanwhile, his pride cockblocked him more and more until he literally had to find someone nobody knew to screw off base, just to say he could if he wanted.)

Jack should have known better than to agree to anything, but it was either take a risk for information or be stuck wondering (and in truth it was because this seemed to be such a secret that he felt a compulsive need to know, faggotry notwithstanding).

Text to d**k Finnicky:
Fine, but only if I can ask a yes or no question in between guesses.

He didn't imagine he needed many. It wasn't like he knew a lot of people, which might or might not have been Finn's mistake. Not to mention Finn had already narrowed it down to men.

How many did he know? He dusted off his mental library of folders and cut out acquaintances for the moment: Leslie, Ian, Shiloh, Ripley, Alistaire, Oliver, Milo, and Lex came to mind.

Naturally he could cut out Ian and Shiloh, because Ian had already told him about that awkward mess before renewing his relationship with the damn duck; if some miraculous threesome had occurred whatsoever, he was sure one of them would have happily thrown colorful details his way just to watch him scream obscenities at their disgusting indulgence. Finn had also professed to not knowing Leslie, and if anything was an indicator of truth, it was asking if that shitstain was handsome (nobody would bother asking after laying eyes on him).

    { Leslie, Ian, Shiloh, Ripley, Alistaire, Oliver, Milo, Lex }

Milo might have been a candidate if Jack hadn't been sure he had a thing with the Lina clone. Or at least, he always saw them close together. Lex, like Ian and Shiloh, was already in a relationship with a hot girl, so there was no reason to become Finn's butt buddy if he was even remotely inclined.

    { Leslie, Ian, Shiloh, Ripley, Alistaire, Oliver, Milo, Lex }

Alistaire he didn't know much about, having had only one real conversation with the man. So while he was not ruled out, in Jack's mind it came down to Ripley and Oliver for now. Chatting with Abbi the past few weeks made him biased towards one. None of them sounded viable whatsoever, but what did he know about the ways of the homos?

Quote:
Text to d**k Finnicky:
First guess: Oliver Keeley.

He could see how the squirrelly little b***h could be one of them: small, scared easy, did whatever he's told, hung around them sometimes so some tolerance of the group regardless.

Well, that was rather disappointing. Finn read the description of this man named Leslie and immediately threw his name on the never in a million years list.

Sometimes it was just that easy to turn the moon intermediate off, as he saw no reason for Jack to lie to him about how the guy looked considering he would see him himself probably in the near future.

He really saw no reason to reply to that, considering giving no response was a pretty clear indicator that he'd now dismissed the idea entirely. Instead, he now actually found he'd much rather move on to the new game that was afoot between them.

Guess that ******** buddy....guy....person that he slept with more often than other people....friend...guy.

It was only shortly after he suggested it that Finn realized the error of his ways. Jack was a hermit. An anti-social d**k head that didn't bother or feel the need to bother getting to know anybody unless it was absolutely necessary, usually involved somehow in his occupation.

This game was likely going to be very short and sweet.

Oh well. He'd tried.

Text to Jackie: Ya sure fine whatever. If you need more than one ******** guess I'll be shocked anyways.

He was then forced to wait a bit longer, and after a moment of staring at a phone waiting for something new, he remembered the coffee he had brewed and stood up to pour himself a cup. Moments later he was seated again, this time taking a sip of a dark brew that tasted more horrible than he could have possibly imagined but that he was going to drink anyways.

Seriously missing the Tim Horton's over here.

The phone vibrated, and he almost didn't want to even bother looking at it.

But when he did he nearly choked on his coffee.

Sigh. It was a bit of a stretch, but at least that just help further cull his options. Glancing at V to make sure she was engrossed still in her own phone, Jack got up and made to leave the room and get some water, which he actually did want. A minute later, fresh bottle under arm, he came back and paused just before the threshold to the lounge. He fished his phone out, turned off the shutter, and surreptitiously got a few photos of V from above and behind.

Luckily for Finn, the base was still so hot that all of them had stripped. He received an edited, brighter photo of the best of the bunch: a woman with tri-tone hair pulled back in a ponytail, curled forward on the couch in only a bra, a pair of goggles over her brow, and rolled up jeans to her knees. She had several tattoos visible, most notably a decorated, tribal-style butterfly near her lower back. Her skin had a reddish tinge of early sunburns.

Thanks to Jack's height and the angle of the photo, her chest remained front and center divas. The gods smiled on them this time, as sweat had collected in the area and given them an extra shine.

He retreated back to his spot and guzzled half the bottle.

He went back to the picture to look at it some more for a moment, admiring the handy photo work.

They were magnificent. How ******** dare he be in the presence of something that magnificent while Finn sat around choking down terrible coffee?

By the time Jack sent in his second guess, Finn was pretty much over it (the game). He felt appeased by the photo, which besides being glorious, was possible proof that the other man wasn't full of s**t.

He finally glanced at the recently received message and tapped in a reply.

Or several.

His moment of chesticular glory was short-lived. Yes he had a hot piece of a** here, but there was a reason they were sweating so much: and sex in the heat would be a smelly, disgusting, maybe even exhausting affair that not even his second head could completely wave away.

Text to d**k Finnicky:
I count it as compensation for getting a shitty job.

Jack sighed as he got confirmation. It wasn't that he disapproved—well, homo part aside—as Ripley wasn't the worst person in the world to stick to Finn. And it wasn't even the knowledge about Abbi that made him uncomfortable about it (it barely blipped on his radar really, much in the way of reminding him to update folders again god damn it). It was knowing that he'd be subjected to not one but possibly two pairs when the group hung out. Twice the faggotry, he reasoned irritably. Twice the favoritism.

It had been a tacit acceptance as far as Jack was concerned that as friends (there was the word again, this heat was really getting to him), they were to be a token bachelor pair of assholes. Fini had been accepted as an exception because he at least knew her a little, and because even then he didn't think the relationship would last (he sensed no substance, nothing outside of a tolerance of dicks and a love of them). This thing with Ripley, though, this agreement...It bothered him because it messed with that balance. A lot of what people were telling him did: Finn's secrecy, the fact that he didn't know Ripley half as well as the others, Chel's promotion, Ian failing to keep his room private, Abbi's plan for her Moon career—the fact that people were generally starting to get their acts together while he was away.

Change was happening, and it was happening without him.

And how had it happened? Even Finn wasn't sure how to answer that, not honestly at least. It had been such a combination of things, which had climaxed during a moment that had simply been a product of right place right time.

There was a lot of what Jack said that was actually...very true. The "Big Ex" that had been the catalyst for a lot of his current relationship and the revelation of what might be a slight mental instability was quite pale haired as well...as were many of his past conquests. Apparently it was part of a particular taste of his, and not just in this universe.

Though, to be fair, Ripley's natural hair color was actually brown.

Much the same as ever, between the two of them. Though now if there had ever been any doubt in Jack's mind that Finn actually did like men as well as women, he would hope that doubt had been dispelled. This was, however, the first time in memory Finn could recall ever telling Jack that he was actually in a sexual relationship with another man.

He idly wondered if it would change anything between them. If Jack's oh so obvious homophobia would now drive a wedge between them.

Finn also couldn't find a reason to really care if it did. They'd had a good run as friends, as far as these things went. Besides, Jack might not even make it back from his mission alive. Probably wouldn't, considering where he was.

And yet something about that thought didn't sit well with him. Huh. Maybe he did care after all?

He doubted Jack would do much with it. What was he going to do? Mass text the island? When he knew it wouldn't phase Finn at all, it seemed unlikely.

I've lost count but it's definitely not just seconds you'd be getting.

He snorted at Finn's flimsy reasoning and imagined for a moment that they were chilling and having a beer. Here he would have made some lewd squeezing gestures in the air to signify just how much boob this woman had, as pictures did not do justice. Maybe if he had gotten enough booze in his system he would dig a little deeper: women turning into sex toys with voices, teammates becoming coat symbols with half-remembered names, the monotony of the day dulling the clear and present danger until even a fight with horsemen felt like another commute to work on Monday. Was that really living?

Shut up and drink. And he would.

Not much point in blabbing since it's not really a dirty secret. Damn.

He was on the fence about his next text, deleting and rewording and hesitating. It still didn't feel right, but asking personal questions had never been his forte anyway--not when he was supposed to be a gigantic a** to the public.

There were sounds of quiet footsteps in the hallway behind him and Finn took a moment to glance over his shoulder at the two intermediate hunters he did not recognize, one being helped along by another as if he were either too drunk or too injured to manage on his own.

Sadly, in this place, either option was equally as likely. As he had no idea who they were, however, he didn't call out to them to find out, instead turning his attention back to the foul brew that somehow thought that it deserved the title of coffee in one hand, and the phone that he held in the other, the latter of which giving off a buzz as it vibrated in his hand, indicating that Jackie Boy had sent him another text.

He smirked at his phone for the first two replies, thumb hovering over the letter keys as he thought through some witty replies that he could send.

He must have been tired, however, the coffee not doing enough to wake up his sluggish brain quite yet, as a third message belatedly buzzed it's way into existence on his screen, and Finn had to stare at it for a moment, frowning as he wondered to himself how in the hell that question had ended up coming to him from Jack of all people.

Sure they used to talk, a lot more than they did now, before they ended up on this island. They talked almost every day, on skype, text, or instant messenger. They shot the s**t, chatted idly about their daily lives, discussed sightings of the 'shadows' that haunted them. But now a days things were different, and a question like this seemed almost out of place among the dickish banter that they generally spewed.

But it was a question that, despite not being able to discern tone over nothing more than typed out letters sent to each other electronically, seemed to be honest and curious, and serious.

So perhaps it deserved as much in return.

medigel
Text to Jackie: It feels better but maybe that's just because it's new. Fini was, or rather, /is/, great. I just knew I was going to do something....bad.

It was all he could think about, for a while. What terrible things he could do to hurt her. It was better now, with distance between them, without feeling like she owned him in some way.

Quote:
Text to Jackie: There's no pressure now. Nothing to think about. Nothing to feel guilty about...and still a guaranteed lay at the end of the day if I need one.

It sounded good on paper. Hell, it sounded good out loud too. But Finn wasn't going to sit their and say that it was definitely one hundred percent better.

Quote:
Text to Jackie: Oh wait....you just meant is d**k better than p***y didn't you? I knew you were curious!
