She looked over her shoulder at him from her efforts to free the shell and nodded. "Alright." she said offering a small smile. That confident tone was exactly what she'd needed and she felt calmer at hearing it and manged to get the first shell free. She wished she had some kelp strands with her, but she'd just have to manage without, even if it would make things infinitely more difficult.
She colored slightly at his growl, but also sent a little thrill up her spine, her confident little love. She smiled a bit at him, her eyes lighting up and she nodded. "I understand. No payment, or else you rip apart their tail fins, and then I get to put it back together." she teased, "Not so gently."
She glanced down at the shell then at him as he placed his off against her foreleg. She didn't hesitate at all and drew him in close to her chest and nibbled affectionately at his mane. "I love you too. That goes double for you." she let him go and made sure he was safe in the little nook before managing to pick up the shell.
It was lighter than she thought it would be and she worried that was a bad thing, but it was something she could worry about later. Confident she had a good hold on the shell, she started back towards the Grail as quickly as she could.
Swimming with the shell wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do, and she mentally kicked herself for not at least grabbing rope from their den, but she'd been so worried, excited, and too many other things to think clearly at the time about something as simple as rope. "Stupid, know better next time." she muttered to herself as she carefully adjusted the shell and her course. She tried not to fret to much about dropping her precious cargo and calmed herself by reciting recipes to her cures in her head.
It helped, and by the time she was nearly through the list the colony was back in sight. She blew out a stream of bubbles and picked up the pace a bit and managed to get the shell safely inside their grotto without to much more fuss. She debated finding someone to carry the second shell, but she didn't feel too bad after the first and with some ropes to help distribute the load more evenly, she didn't think her mobility would be all that compromised. That decided she nodded her head and grabbed a coil from the shelf and looped it around her neck then raced back to Flurry and the second shell. Time was of the essence after all, there was no way she wanted to try and do this in fading light.

"Be back soon," he said, trying to hide his grin at her teasing. He hated the thought, but he might just be capable of tearing apart someone's tail fins - but not for asking payment for something so small as moving a shell (no matter how precious that shell was). He had driven off a kelpi all by his little self before, but that had been a long time ago. It had been coming to feast on the wreckage after the ship had crashed into his family's reef, and his instincts had kicked in.
But that was a long time ago, he told himself.
Soon, he noticed a tightness in his chest that meant his air supply would be up in a few minutes, half an hour at most. But he could see white flashing in the blue water in the distance. Keeva was on her way back, and that meant he could breathe easier soon enough. Sighing for a moment, he let his head rest against the brilliant shell he was wrapped around. Tiny sleeping sounds came from within, murmurs and shiftings. What does the future hold for you? he wondered, And what's in your past that has left you alone out here? Both were questions he would probably never know the answer to; the parents would probably come scoop up their precious foals and offer a barely adequate explanation, and then the whole family would up and disappear with a coin that declared them friends of the herd, and they would never see them again. Secretly, though, Flurry hoped that wouldn't be the case. "You should be our family now," he whispered vehemently into the smooth surface of the shell. "We will keep you safe."

Keeva tried to keep from fretting the entire way. So many things could have happened and she wasn't there and...Stop. Stop it. Everything will be fine. she chided herself and focused on keeping a steady pace. If she pushed herself now she'd be exhausted and useless later. She let out a little stream of bubbles and calmed herself.
She did let herself put on a little extra burst of speed as the little reef appeared and she quickly swam back to where the opening was. "Flurry?" she called out and peered into the nook. Her entire demeanor relaxing as she saw him curled around the shell. She smiled softly, her eyes going soft, her heart fluttering a bit. There was just something so...right about seeing him like that. "Comfy?" she asked teasingly and moved out of the opening so he could get out and she could start wrestling the second shell out of it's hiding place.
