Cerise got another chance to show off her stuff! This time she'd do her best to destroy the base, but she knew if she didn't manage it, she'd have a bit of backup... some level of comfort there. And the confidence of a careless redblood, of course! Booooom!

And a weak hit. She barely dented it. Whoops. Time to try again!

They were counting on her marvelous skills here to bring down the nasty rebels at the asylum. There was probably some smarty-pants strategy reason for wanting it, but she did like the location. Suitably creepy.

Now that he'd had a moment to rest, Alifax headed out again, kind of...pleased?

It looked like the girls were quite efficient, and it was nice to see the nervous little orangeblood taking, er, command, so to speak. But a quick loop around the territory he'd already covered showed him...well, nothing new. Well, that was fine with him. He'd just have to try again.

Alifax made the decision to venture over to City Hall again, but of course on the way he noticed...the library! He wasn't sure how he'd missed it before. A base had been erected around it, and from the vaguely aquatic building materials it was clear that the base had been constructed by someone with empire sympathies. Excellent, he thought, and headed off to mark that place on his map, as well.

He returned to see Cerise smashing the Old Hemisect Asylum base into bits once more.

Okay, one more hit and she could easily take down the rest of the base, and let Nahori build a new, better and improved royal base there. And then they would have control over the sweet asylum! Maybe when the fighting was done, she and Nahori could check it out together, there was probably ghosts and spooky things like that, and she could bring some sweets for them to eat while they traveled... Old Hemisect was pretty far though. It'd have to be a whole night outing!

This place still gave her the creeps. Cerise seemed to enjoy it, though Nahori could say with certainty that she wasn't surprised by the fact. It was just... there was a strange feeling hanging in the air, unsettling, but her redblooded friend had done her part and now, she would do hers, too. Gathering up the blueprints in her little hands, she looked for ways to fortify the new design. She was fairly happy with the result.

It was time to put her brand new recruitment skill to work! Cerise began wildly screaming and laughing at the defenders she gathered up, but they still seemed to listen to her instead of running away. Success!

She really was pretty great at this too. Must be from her peddling skills. It is the only way to get business back in NHC anyway.

Well, she was already here, so Nahori figured it would be better to give the build a quick once over before moving on, even if she would have preferred to just get the heck out of here. Guineamom, too, was obviously spooked by this location, constantly wheeking quietly and walking around in circles as if she expected something to jump out at them at any moment. The orangeblood was relieved when finding a location to improve the structure came quickly and she could climb back onto her lusus's back and ride out of here. She didn't want to be back for a while.

Alifax noticed the kid before serious damage could be done, fortunately.

"You six!" he called. "I need you on the asylum; watch out for rebels trying to destroy our base." It'd be nice if they could get the kid to him, but he didn't have that much faith in their willingness to obey a redblood.

Then he stepped back, shaking his head. He wasn't accustomed to giving orders. He really wished Frossa had time for something other than pigging out. But he couldn't really blame her, he supposed - she was an extremely valuable asset, but she tended to be flaky. At least the other two girls seemed...enthusiastic. Well, Cerise was the enthusiastic one, really. Nahori was just dutiful. But that was a good quality.

DAILY REFRESH!


It's a new day! The fighting in Old Hemisect has begun, but injuries are as of yet still low. There have not yet been any casualties, to the relief of many lusii and even Captain Mapuye herself. The Alternian Military is offering leniency for those rebels who will turn themselves over to the royalist side. Flyers and announcements promising "Grace for those who, deep down in their pump biscuits, wish the best for our great Alternian race."

Today's Happenstance: Royalists attacking rebel defenders may roll 1D4. The resulting number of defenders can be added to their standby. This effect can only be used once per coordinate attacked.

Each troll is refreshed and ready to go with 2 available actions.


It was brought to my attention yesterday that there was an error printed in the rules! Please note that this error has been corrected, and to clarify:

You cannot mobilize defenders directly from your standby to assault an enemy base; they must be mobilized to a friendly base first. Thank you!


Refreshers:
POSSIBLE ACTIONS ARE:

Build: Roll 1D6 to build on a coordinate that you have unlocked – the roll result determines the durability of the base. You can also build on friendly bases to add durability, up to a maximum of 30 durability. You cannot build on a coordinate that already has an enemy base on it.
Trolls with training in Construction get a bonus to their roll:
Apprentice: Roll 2D6 Journeytroll: Roll 3D6 Master: Roll 4D6 Grandmaster: Roll 5D6

Rally: Roll 1D6 to organize defenders, which can be assigned to any coordinate you have unlocked. The roll result determines the amount of defenders you have rallied. Defenders will be on stand-by until you mobilize them. Defenders are the second level of defense that can be assigned to protect a base. You must use defenders to take out defenders if you want to demolish an enemy base!
Trolls with training in Recruiting get a bonus to their roll:
Apprentice: Roll 2D6 Journeytroll: Roll 3D6 Master: Roll 4D6 Grandmaster: Roll 5D6

Demolish:
Roll 1D6 to destroy a base on a coordinate that you have unlocked – the roll result determines the amount of damage done to the durability of the base. At 0 durability, the base is destroyed. You cannot demolish a base with defenders assigned to it.
Trolls with training in Demolition get a bonus to their roll:
Apprentice: Roll 2D6 Journeytroll: Roll 3D6 Master: Roll 4D6 Grandmaster: Roll 5D6

Intelligence: Roll a new coordinate (2D6). If you roll a coordinate you have already unlocked, the roll is wasted.
Trolls with training in Intelligence get a bonus to their rolls:
Apprentice: Roll 2 new coordinates (4D6)
Journeytroll: Roll 2 new coordinates (4D6); if at least 1 of the coordinates is not unique, re-roll 2D6 until a new coordinate has been unlocked.
Master: Journeytroll effect OR select one new coordinate from another team and unlock it. You must post with roleplay in your own thread and the other team’s thread for this to take effect.
Grandmaster: Journeytroll effect OR Master effect OR… Roll 1 coordinate (2D6). If your allies control the coordinate rolled: add 5 durability and 5 defenders to that coordinate (may surpass the maximum durability/defender limit by 5). If your opponents control the coordinate rolled: it loses 5 durability and 5 recruits (does not apply if the numbers would decrease past 0). You additionally unlock the coordinate.


Mobilize: Choose one of two options:
1. Send defenders from your stand-by or a friendly-base you control to any friendly-base on a coordinate that you have unlocked.
2. Assault an enemy-controlled coordinate that you have unlocked using defenders from a friendly base. Defenders must be deployed to a base before they can assault an enemy base and cannot attack directly from your standby.

Alifax raked his hand through his hair - okay. He could do this. After he and the girls had tucked themselves in for an early day's rest (they were young, and he was...watching them), some rebels had come in and...well. Their former base was smashed, he'd give them that. And they'd begun erecting a new one in its place.

That was fine with him. Cerise could probably handle it, when she was up - or Frossa, if she ever decided to stop toying around. Which was, well, doubtful, knowing her. He wrote a quick note on stationary borrowed from Frossa to let the girls know he'd gone out on a patrol. Then he left.

He returned to see nothing much had happened, which wasn't too surprising. Kids needed a lot of sleep, right?

He thought so, anyway. "There's a base we should be able to take down here," he called, hoping the girls understood. "I'll redirect some of the recruits on Swiftscale Hill over." They'd probably be leaving it a little bare, but...what could Alifax do? He was certain they'd be able to handle themselves.

He hoped.

When Alifax stopped to get his bearings at the hill, though, he noticed it was far emptier of defenders than it had been. Either an attack had been going on, or Eostre had been very clever about relocating those recruits.

Well, it was no matter. It was time to see where else Team Hotcakes might have best effect. (He really did hate that name.)

It was time to go back to the asylum! Seems the rebels had rebuilt there after all, but soon enough she'd take them down. Another chance to make their dumb base go BOOOM! It sure was nice getting to spend so much time there.
