Names: Girl: Shuǐ – Chinese (Water)
Boy: Dìqiú – Chinese (Earth)
Relationship/History: These two were both born into a small group made up of unrelated families thrown together for safety more than anything. These two are pups of a pair of sisters within the group. Both were the only one in their litter and as such came to view each other as a sibling, being that there mothers visit each other daily and the two pups pretty much grew up together. Shuǐ's father was a wandering rogue and Dìqiú's father died before he was born.
From a fairly young age the two pups started to show very different personalities. Shuǐ was intelligent and creative, showing a talent for creating baubles and bits of decoration from whatever she found laying around the den. Dìqiú was much happier outside, rummaging through the undergrowth, getting his nose (and paws) into all kinds of strange plants and soon enough he was experimenting with turning them into pastes, eating them, and smearing them on anything that stood still long enough. These two showed such clear traits, traits that were reflected on their fur in the blue and green markings they bore.
When they hit adolescence they broke away form the family group and set out on their own, wanting to see more of the world. By the time they stumbled on the Saba'Nyumba they were more adults than teens. Having wandered enough to satisfy their curiosity, and intrigued by the small band of dogs that were seeking to make a life in the forest, they decide to throw their lot in with the strangers.
Personalities: Both dogs are the embodiment of their houses, not only in looks and talent, but in personality. Shuǐ is intelligence and quick-witted with a sharp sense of humour that often comes out edged with wry amusement, as if she knew something the other didn't. And often she did.
Dìqiú is steady and calm, slow to anger and with seemingly infinite patience, a trait he gets a lot of use out of around his 'sister', Shuǐ. It is he who soothes the ruffled feathers of those not equipped to deal with Shuǐ's quick tongue and dry wit. And he whom the pack go to when they want Shuǐ to make something for them,. As they know that if the request comes from Dìqiú, things simply go easier for everyone, and she never can say no to Dìqiú . .
